If you apply this little tip about common sense marketing, I promise you can see a spike in traffic to your site. If you run a Hyperlocal Blog or a Community Website, I’m going to give you a very easy SEO Tip for your hyperlocal blog that will definitely increase traffic to your site. It requires you to be a little proactive and you must do a little bit of work a month or two before your expected traffic arrives.

It’s actually quite simple. If your community has an event scheduled such as a Holiday Festival or a Parade, you should be acting right now. Go ahead and write a couple articles and build a some links a few weeks before the event. The people who live in your community will start searching the event 2 or 3 weeks ahead of time and if you are proactive, you will receive the benefit of extra traffic for those weeks. Guess what? All of those people who have never visited your site will find you for the first time. This is a great strategy to market your website. This is also just common sense marketing and if your event is an annual event, you will already be in position to capture the majority of traffic the following year.

Make article SEO and common sense marketing an ongoing process.

As the traffic starts to trickle in early, go back and edit your articles and build new anchor text links with the phrases and keywords that you are being found for. Add appropriate tags to your articles. I would also make a youtube video pointing to your site. Using Youtube is powerful SEO and can deliver a lot of traffic to your site. If you stay on top of this process of using a little common sense and SEO on your website, you should see a significant gain for at least a little while. I enjoy listening to music while I’m tapping away at this blogging gig. Sometimes I’m listening to iTunes but more often than not, I’m streaming music from the internet. I love finding new and cheap mp3 music or podcasts for my wife’s iPod. We only have one iPod, so we share. The reason we only have one right now is because I left my iPod Shuffle clipped to my under Under Armour Shorts and she washed them. Totally my fault. BTW, (sidenote) Under Armour athletic shorts are the very best to workout in. I own several pair and will not wear anything else. My iPod shuffle still works but only for about 45 seconds. I’ve got to get a new one. I love the iPod Shuffle. It’s so small, you can’t even feel it clipped to your clothes. The downside to the iPod Shuffle is that it’s so unnoticeable, you can easily drop it into the washing machine if you are a goober like myself. But if you are not a goober, you should own a Shuffle.

In the mornings, I usually listen to music. In the afternoons, I usually stream talk radio. I have a little routine when I hear a song that I like. I really enjoy stations that identify the songs they play. Nothing pisses me off more than to hear a song I like and have no idea who is playing. In Charlotte, NC there is a very good station that streams alternative rock, plays music videos and gives you a playlist. 106.5 “The End”. When I hear a song I like, I check out the title on the radio station website. Then, I swing my chair over to my Windows PC and look it up on legalsounds.com. I download it instantly. Then, I email it to myself on my MacBookPro. Takes a couple minutes at the most and I drop it into my iTunes. I never skip a beat while blogging and add music to my collection daily. It sort of freaks my kids out when I identify songs from the radio. When I ask if they’ve heard the new song from Switchfoot, “Mess of Me.”? I get this blank stare for about 3 seconds. Since I use a lot of different music in some of my videos, I’m always searching for cheap mp3 music download sites. I found such a site and I’ve been using it for a couple years now. The site is called Legal Sounds. I pay .09 per song that I download. I do believe the site is in Russia and at first I was a little hesitant to drop a credit card number on a site in Russia. It works like this. Start an account and buy a certain amount of credits with your credit card. I usually buy $25. Initially, you will download an application or “downloader” which works on Windows PC’s. You access the site through this desktop application. You search for your music and in just a couple of clicks, your song is automatically downloaded into your music folder. The music is in the .mp3 file format which is what the majority of the music in your iTunes is. The .09 is deducted from your account for each song you download. For $25 you can download 277 songs. It’s the cheapest mp3 music I’ve been able to find. The quality is great and I have had no issues with the site. The song above in the player was downloaded from Legal Sounds.

You will not find every song that you are looking for on Legal Sounds, but it’s likely that you can find most of them. When I can’t find my song on Legal Sounds, I can usually find it on iTunes and I will just spend the $1.29 and get it instantly. I don’t want to waste time searching for music. So, there you go, if you are looking for some cheap mp3 downloads for your iPod, give Legal Sounds a try. It works great for me.

You know, when you write a blog or an article you are supposed to optimize for Google. All of the big boys and girls tell us so. If you are an internet marketer or build niche websites, your income depends upon it. I have struggled with BloggerLens as far as focusing on a particular topic or niche. A lot of different things interest me and this is one place where I get a chance to write or vent if the case may be. I’m not super-focused here and people find me for a lot of different terms.

I originally started this site to highlight the fact that I was a hyperlocal blogger. Well, I still am a hyperlocal blogger. The majority of my time is spent hyperlocal blogging but it’s a subject that is not yet that popular and has a limited number of Google searches. According to the Google Keyword search tool, the term hyperlocal blog under an exact search receives 16 searches per month. Hardly enough to build a flagship site around. Hyperlocal blogging receives 22 searches per month when using the “exact” parameter. More and more people are getting into hyperlocal blogging and it seems there would be more searches.

We probably all have blogs that we want to make “flagship blogs.” (I just did my fingers in quotations). The problem as I see it, is in the decision of what we will focus on. Let’s see, I could focus on “Make Money Online”, I bet that would be easy to rank for. I could focus on making a “Passive income Online”. I could probably dominate that niche in a couple of weeks or so. I could video blog about internet marketing and be a very outspoken individual and create a huge following, but where is the fun in that? The problem with video blogging is that you better write some text because Google has not yet determined how to decipher a video. Besides, who cares about video on the internet? The internet has no future for video, right?

Let’s take a look at my latest stats at the keywords this blog has been found using.

Let’s analyze the last 20 queries by keyword to help me determine what I should optimize this blog for. You folks out there that stop by every now and then are a lot smarter than I am at this stuff. Your comments below will be welcome. It appears that maybe I should be writing about how Mark McGwire drinking Monster Energy Drink is a sex offender who should be hyperlocal blogging. I’m not sure, but I think I could dominate that niche.

Based on the keyword inquiries I have listed above, I would love to hear your suggestions as to where I should start focusing BloggerLens.

BTW, I’m now at #16 on Google for the term “Trust Agent”. That other dude can’t possibly be your Trust Agent. When you become a Trust Agent there is no way you would stuff articles with keyword phrases like Trust Agent, it’s understood and others will link to you for the term Trust Agent. That’s all I have to say about that.

What has happened to some of the people living in our country? How could anyone kill a small child and dump her in the trash? This weeks abduction and murder of Somer Thompson in Florida have both angered and saddened me in such a way that words cannot describe. I know we see these things in the news all the time and we’ve almost grown numb to them because we are never involved. We see the news reports and yawn and click over to see what’s going on on Entertainment Tonight. This event has just struck me to the core.

If you are at least 40 years old, you can remember a time when these occurrences were rare. I miss the the Mayberry Days. I’m a brand new Grandfather and that may be one of the reasons this struck me so hard. The news reports that 70 registered sexual offenders live near the school where Somer Thompson walked home from. As of this writing there are no arrests and no suspects. I’m not inferring that one of the registered sexual offenders is the culprit but it is highly likely that is the case.

If it turns out to be that an Offender is her murderer, there is blood on the hands of the Judge and court system who released this person. This brings my thoughts to the recent controversy surrounding Monster Energy Drink and the Vermont Beer Brewery. Apparently, the Vermont Brewer is going to be victorious in his fight to brew beer named Vermonster. I don’t know the final results but no doubt the firestorm and bad publicity on the internet probably helped the Vermont Brewer. Our own Allyn Hane may have been instrumental with his 2-part video explaining the situation and his outrage. Many of us jumped in and provided content and links in favor of the brewery.

Directing our anger and SEO towards corrupt, liberal Judges.

Maybe we should also direct our talents and anger towards judges who let the filth who commit sexual crimes out of jail. A sexual predator who commits a crime upon a child has no rights in our society and should have no more freedom to roam the streets. I have no problem putting this filth down like dogs. I volunteer to throw the switch myself.

Imagine the power we have with powerful anchored links singling out these corrupt, liberal judges who let these predators back out on the street. What if we identified these judges and unleashed Allyn Hane with a series of videos singling out these criminals and the judges who set them free? What if we, as a group, provided the SEO, notoriety and links to bring awareness to these dregs of society? Making Money Online is not the only way to use your talents as is evident with the Monster Drink fiasco.

This is a quick post with a definite purpose. The purpose is two-fold. Well, it seems that at least one celebrity has finally discovered that Twitter just wasn’t worth it. Miley Cyrus has deleted her Twitter account and all we can hope is that it’s a trend that will continue. In my humble opinion, Twitter is not Social Media, it’s Interactive Media. You cannot be social at just 140 characters. I do not know a whole lot about Miley Cyrus. It does appear she is much more talented than her “Achy Breaky” Dad who apparently wants to pimp out his 16 year old daughter for money. She was on some award show recently where she was wearing hot pants doing a pole dance. Ridiculous? You decide.

This poor girl couldn’t even tweet about her pimples because the tabloids made her tweets, celebrity news. I guess if you are a 16 year old girl, pimples can seem important but it’s a glaring example of the stupid ways people use Twitter. Call me a hypocrite, yes I have Twitter accounts that I hardly ever go on anymore. I have a Tweet button on this blog if anyone wants to tweet one of my posts. Not many get re-tweeted and I don’t blame you. Most of my stuff is not butterflies and unicorn material. When I do use Twitter, it’s usually to post a new article. I’m not going to tweet you that my puppy just threw up and I’m taking her to the vet. If you love Social Media, that’s great. If you are earning money from Social Media, I commend you. Twitter is ok and it serves a purpose to a degree but I think Facebook is better at Social Media because it allows true interaction between people.

If you own a sandwich shop and you tweet “buy one, get one free” you have the right idea. If you are a restaurant and you tweet “half price drinks at Happy Hour”, you are on the right track. If you are tweeting your own stuff, that’s good. that’s why I followed you. If you are tweeting for everyone to join the new Problogger.com forum, you lack creativity and should remove your head from Problogger’s ass. If all you do is re-tweet, you should re-evaluate. I’ve been reemed on here before about Twitter so if you feel inclined, let me have it.

If you own a small or large business and you are not on Twitter, I think you would be making a mistake. I call that marketing and that is smart business. The problem is that most people cannot be creative enough to post Tweets that are interesting.

How do you determine value?

I came across a site recently, dnScoop.com, that claims to estimate the value of any website that you enter. Ok, just like all of you, I couldn’t resist. Yes, I typed in the sites of a bunch of my friends and the A-listers because of my own curiosity. Some of the numbers were staggering. The numbers were beyond ridiculous and I have no idea what kind of formula that dnScoop is using to determine value. I have always had a little personal saying that goes something like, “you ain’t got nothing thats worth a dime unless someone buys it.” There are variations of that also that I have been known to use, it depends on how much beer I’m drinking at the time.

For me, it all stems back to the baseball card craze where everyone claimed stupid values over cardboard cards with pictures of baseball players. Think about it. Unless it’s Babe Ruth, it’s a fairly dumb concept. Sorry all of you collectors who own Mark McGwire rookie cards where he looks like a bean pole. Mark’s steroid use and fake home runs have rendered that card pretty useless. Sorry to all of you Barry Bond rookie card collectors also. To me, value is what other people are willing to pay, not a number that you or other people put on something. Value is not actually determined until something sells. Once it sells, now you have something to go by.

I realize I am digressing but just trying to make a point.

Looking at the values placed on these websites got me to thinking a little. Starting a free Wordpress blog would have been the smartest investment the world has ever seen. Starting several would put you in the same league as Donald Trump and Warren Buffet. Those idiots actually used their own money to invest in things like the stock market and real estate. What losers. If they had only become professional bloggers, imagine what they might be worth today.

What would the Problogger put on his net worth statement? Should a bank require the CopyBlogger to list his $2 million dollar website as an asset? Should Seth Godin use his website as collateral when applying for a loan? What in the hell would the banks think if they even thought you had a website valued at these crazy values and did not list it as an asset when applying for loans? Would it be fraud?

Should the CopyBlogger list this on his net worth statement? See what a .pdf e-book aimed at noobs will get you.

The Problogger’s new forum site. Griz makes this in a month doesn’t he? BTW, it would not give me a value on Griz’s ugly blogger site that dominates the serps in which the new Problogger.com forum administrator advises against using.

Problogger.net is doing quite well. See what sea turtles can do to your bank account.

Seth is kicking ass. Seth is an A-lister who I think actually does give value.

Why would you build an A-list site with your name? How can you sell your name?
If he sold and walked away any so-called value would plummet I think.
If I was part of the herd of any site and I knew my master had sold out and left, I’ll find me another herd. Would you?

The Keyword Academy is probably grossly undervalued.

Wouldn’t most people think that Squidoo was worth less than HubPages? I guess not.

Sorry HubPages, you got schooled by Squidoo.

Professional Blogging Is The Greatest Investment The World Has Ever Seen

A bit of a rant today. AWeber, the e-mail marketing company wants to report me to a debt collector for the whopping sum of $19. Yes, that’s correct, $19. I wonder if I can hit Griz or Allyn for $19? Since I feel like dog poo today with a head cold I picked up, I thought what better day to do a rant and to tell the world of the suckness of someone else.

I fell victim to Aweber a few months ago when I noticed all the A-listers seemed to be using AWeber for their e-mail marketing. I was not a Trust Agent back then but who was I to question that so many were using AWeber e-mail? $19 a month seemed to be a pretty good deal. In the past, I had used Constant Contact when I was doing a little bit of Real Estate work. Using Constant Contact, I never had a moments trouble with them. The interface they use was very easy to understand and one could create quick, easy graphics with Constant Contact. When I left real estate, I stopped Constant Contact. When I started an e-mail list once again on my hyperlocal site, I naturally went with AWeber because all the Guru’s do. I didn’t realize or pay attention that this is most likely due to the affiliate program. Constant Contact also has an affiliate program. I’m not an affiliate as of this writing but I may consider.

A couple of months ago, my credit card expired like they all do eventually. My bank sent me a new card that is now active until 2013. Many of my online accounts sent me a notice when they tried to charge my card and asked me to go back into my profile and update my card settings. No problem. I did this with several accounts including Go-Daddy, BlueHost and others. I did not reset my AWeber account because I decided I didn’t have enough subscribers to warrant $19 yet. Hey, I’m frugal. My last payment to AWeber was at the end of June. AWeber now tells me I owe for one month between July and August. They are threatening me with debt collection. Click the picture for a large view. I also received a phone call from them leaving me a message to pay my account. All over $19 friggin dollars! If you read on the e-mail, they want to have an amicable resolution to the matter.

I’m going to pay the A-holes, but I’ll never use them again. By the way, the month in question as to my debt, I did not send any e-mails. It’s not like I used the service during that time and now I don’t want to pay. They say it’s my final notice. I guess an AWeber SWAT Team will knock my door down and take my change bowl.

I recommend Constant Contact for your e-mail marketing efforts. The interface is much easier to use than AWeber and Constant Contact never threatened me over $19.

BTW, I rank 129 in Google for the term Trust Agent. How funny would it be if I ranked first page? Hint, hint…

Using Your Acquired Skills To Get Revenge Online

Today’s video blog is about the subject of getting revenge online. I’m not talking about doing anything mean, underhanded or blackhat. I’m simply talking about getting satisfaction by overtaking someone’s website’s ranking in the search engines with a site of your own. It’s probably happened to all of us at one time or another. A business gives us the shaft and treats us badly. Maybe you receive poor service and the manager has no intention of making it right. What about getting ripped off by your local auto mechanic who charges you a fortune but does not fix your car? Those things make me rage and there are other ways to deal with these people than scream, shout and threaten.

I had a similar situation happen to me over the past year. I was wronged by a douchebag in the corporate world. I could not do anything about it due to some legalities and other issues. Of course, I could scream and rage on this person but there was no use in that. I would much rather hit them where it hurts…in the wallet. You will find that as you get older, hopefully some parts of you will become wiser. Busting someone in the wallet has a much longer degree of satisfaction than any other. The business that I am after happens to derive most of it’s income due to their #1 Google position for their respected keywords. I happen to know that most of their competition knows little about SEO, making it a prime target for someone who is a little knowledgeable about SEO and link building.

What could be more satisfying than overtaking the search engine position of a competitor or someone who has treated you like a piece of crap and thought they could get away with it? I’m willing to work and wait. Time is on my side.
