Baby Shopping for Men

It's pretty funny how my father in law shops. He's a very outdoorsy person and his idea of shopping for the kids is picking up something kid-sized from the carhartt outlet lol. I find it amusing and the girls really appreciate it no matter what. It will be interesting to see what he ends up sending for the baby, especially since it's a boy lol.

It's more up and down weather here. It seems every other week we're dealing with rain and heat, sometimes alternating, sometimes at the same time. I wish we had a swimming pool of our own. We can go to the local pool at the college but it's indoors, it's stuffy in there, and there are always lots of other people. It would be really nice to have one of our own some day. Of course we would have to get one of those really good pool safety nets with the girls being young and the baby coming. It would be worth the work though.

We have a running joke at the moment regarding the baby. My husband jokes that if we can't find a name for it that we'll just go ahead and name it "Thor" lol! Of course this will not be happening since I have something to do with it, but it would actually be pretty funny if it ended up as the character for Halloween at some point. We could even get some things together and take apart a welding helmet to make the costume! I love that we can joke about these things instead of worrying, of which I've done more than my fair share.

I've already been thinking about what I'll do to lose the baby weight after it comes. I haven't settled on a plan yet, but I've been looking into safe diet pills, meal, and exercise plans. I'm not sure what I'll be able to do as far as energy goes considering I'll be dealing with three kids on a daily basis, but I'm sure I'll work out something since I know I don't want to be heavy all over again.

It was a nice week this last week, but I'm really glad to have my house back again. We've had two family visits this month already and already I'm wiped out. It was really nice to see my mother in law and my own family though. Even thought they are both so far away, having them here for even a short time while I'm pregnant makes things transition a little better for when the baby does come.

The Concert Abroad

My little cousin got to do something really cool this last week. She got to do an exchange program and went to Vienna to preform in a concert, singing and playing her instruments. It was really neat that we were all able to see her in it since it was streamed live and recorded online. My uncle was incredibly proud since she shares his love of all things music. They have really bonded and talk about anything and everything music all the time. It's not uncommon to walk into a debate about different guitars and why Fano Guitars are better than something else lol. I'm really glad she had a good time.

New House

We are getting a new house this month. Well, new to us anyway. It is basically our dream house. It is on a big piece of land, so we will be able to have a garden ,and even chickens, which is something I’ve always wanted. I am so excited to get in the house and start making it our home. We close this Friday, and get to start moving in immediately after closing. I’m trying to get as much as I can set up ahead of time, so that all the little details of the move will be taken care of. The last time we moved, I waited until we were in the house to get things like tv services hooked up, and it ended up taking forever. I’m trying to prevent that kind of thing from happening again. I have already started researching security systems because I know this is something that took awhile for us to get set up last time, and I don’t want to have to live there long without an alarm system.

A few years ago I was working for a small business back home that did a lot of donating within the community and towards specific groups. It was really nice knowing that I was a part of something that was about more than just making money after the other places I had worked. That's one of the reasons why I really like the idea of the sterkly pride, aside from really liking lions. I didn't even know that companies sponsored animals. It makes me think of what else I can consider when I finally do get my own thing up and running.

Keeping the Weight Down

Since I found out I was pregnant, I've really been trying to keep the weight gain going as slowly as possible. It's not easy to know considering we don't currently own a scale lol. One thing that's really helped is playing Wii games. I found out years ago that playing the best wii games helped me lose weight and keep it off. The nice thing about doing this is that I can take a rest whenever I really need to since my fatigue is still extremely high. Hopefully I can make sure that I don't blow up like a balloon before this is over.

Hoarders

I'm not stranger to hoarding, my grandmother excelled in it and I am fighting to not follow in her footsteps. The extreme cases that are shown on TV really are quite extreme though. It's hard to fathom that people live that way sometimes, even with my own doses of it. I think that it might be a lot easier to deal with those that just collect stuff as opposed to those that also hoard garbage though. As attached to those masses of yard signs and heaps of scrap metal, I think there might be more room for reasoning in those cases. It's all still incredibly difficult though and it's nice to see that people are getting help, even if it's last minute and out of desperation.

I really wasn't sure what to expect for our first winter here, but it actually wasn't all that bad. It snowed a handful of times and rained some but despite the cold it wasn't nearly as hellish as I had planned it to be. Of course it helps that I stay inside more often than not as well lol. DD had a lot of fun when it actually did snow, poor kid is still waiting for more and the temps are back up to over 70 everyday again. At least she's happy she can go out in her dresses and skirts now, she always hates wearing pants.

Gosh I love coming home to a house that I know is 100% mine. There’s no one else to answer to but myself and I know that at the end of the day this house is mine and I get to make all the decisions with it. I loved living with my best friend Kathy but at the end of the day it’s great having my to do with what I like. I’m really particular and even more neat so I hated having to pick up after her all the time and really just keep the place clean myself. I went to http://www.satellitestarinternet.com/ when I moved in to check for internet – I’d never had home internet before but figured I needed it since my boss was getting really tired of me doing so much online shopping while I was at work. At the end of the day every little expense that’s added up to make this place more expensive than my apartment is totally worth it because it’s mine and I can do with it what I like!

Boy the weather out here is crazy! We go from 30 degree days to almost 80 just within a few. I was thinking it would be really nice to sit outside in a hammock but with our lack of trees, trying to find a place for one is slightly challenging. I thought about Hammocks.com hammock stands but I'm not sure where we would store it when the weather changed back to icky again. I really think I may get something though and should start planning soon before things go way too high and the bugs come out lol.

Tricks of the Trade

DD hates going to the doctor. She doesn't like the uncertainty and the idea that she might be getting a shot, as with most kids. One of the tricks that I've taught her is to look at the characters or pictures on the nurse's medical uniform and focus on that. It's a trick I learned when I was little that always worked for me. I'm hoping that in a year or two the visits will be a much more positive thing and she'll enjoy seeing how she grows.

One of the things I never got to do while living in CA was spend a great deal of time in SoCal. I always wanted to go shopping (or at least look lol) in all of the expensive stores and hit up all of the trendier cheap furniture stores in los angeles. It would have been so much fun to decorate my space with the things I could have gotten there. Now I'm four states away and transporting things home would be a larger task than before. Oh well, eventually I will get down there one day and I'll get to have my fun in the sun :)

There is just over two weeks until we gt married. Hopefully everything goes okay and nothing ends up slowing it down. We've been having a few more spats than usual the last week, which is kinda crappy. Sometimes I'm not sure I'm doing the right thing, but then I sit and think about it and I know I am. We all have ups and downs and I'm sure there will be many more to come yet lol.

I've had back problems for a number of years now. Because of my age, I sometimes worry that there is a larger problem that I'm not aware of. Other times I know that it could be a lack of exercise that could be the largest source of the problem. I won't know until I go to a chiropractor if something is seriously wrong with me, but I'm hoping that it won't be bad enough to need spinal surgery somewhere down the road. I think the best thing that I can do right now is to try to fit in stretching and exercise each day.

We spend a lot of time at home as a family but now that my kids are getting older they’ve been asking me more and more if they can watch TV. I didn’t really want them watching a lot of it as they were kids because I wasn’t sure how it would affect their development but now that they’re older I’m considering getting direct tv so they can get their shows. If we’re being perfectly honest, I’d also like to get some of the ones I’ve been dying to see, too! I keep hearing about these Housewives shows and also Millionaire Matchmaker – I’m going to check them both out just to see what all the fuss is about. I’ve never been all that into technology and I sit in front of a computer screen all day anyway so I’m not really sure it’s worth my time but you know, at the end of the day I could use something to help me relax. And maybe the kids and I will watch some stuff together!

My uncle is pretty funny, he's started his own meme on Facebook. Every Friday he posts something related to his guitars, whether it's a picture of one of his many or something else music related. Music has been his life and it still is. He was really smart and at the high points of his career, he invested in buying quite a large number of acoustic and electric guitars. Unfortunately, he's had to sell a few during the rough spots, but the good thing for him is that they still held close to their value and he got his money back and then some. Definitely a smart move.

I remember when I was in school, there were always all sorts of trends going around and you just weren't cool if you didn't have it too. Even though our girls go to different schools, one things to remain in common, supposedly everyone is wearing a number of ball chain necklaces in different colors.I'm not sure how this one started or why it is, but it is and now our girls want them too, of course. Considering they just are starting school, I almost want to make a scrapbook on the trends they hound us for alone, it would definitely be interesting to look back on lol.

During the time where I was sure I was going to open my own business, I was looking for all sorts of things that would help keep me organized and on track. I had found a salesforce reporting software that looked really good, but I wasn't sure if I was going to use that or a more common form of POS. I'd still really like to do something of my own one day but I'm still not really sure what my favored niche is yet. I'll just have to keep exploring my options and strengths.

My sleep has been totally whacky lately and I can't ever seem to get myself to stay fully awake. I know the cause is because I'm pregnant but it just doesn't seem to want to let up. At least most of my nausea has passed with the help of vitamins and I'm hoping the symptoms won't be nearly as bad as my last pregnancy. If only I could stop feeling like I'm in a constantly comatose state.

So, what I learned this last Christmas...finding gifts for girls is a lot easier said than done, especially when they're so close in age. We had a pretty difficult time trying to figure out what to get the girls this year and decided to go ahead and let them choose what they wanted on their lists from the internet. Of course it ended up that they kept choosing the same things and despite our hesitancy, we still gave them pretty much the same gifts to avoid hearing the "I want what she got" whining. Eventually that will have to come, but we thought we would ease us all into that one LOL.

My BF and I do things quite differently and it's funny when something comes up. Both of us end up staring at the other as if they were from a different planet and we just laugh. One example would be how we assemble furniture. I can't watch him do it at all because his methods are way off from mine, but he'll laugh at me because I always end up leaving the casters off of things because I don't want things sliding around. What I love the most is that, despite our methodology, we still can work together without arguing and get things accomplished, now that's teamwork!

There's always something that I like to have handy around the holidays in case we have company coming over and that's some Christmas cookies. I really love baking and eating Christmas cookies. My whole family is the same way. But I think that the part I love most about having them around the house is the ability to just pull them out at any time. Plus, you don't have to heat them up in case someone drops by unexpectedly, which seems to happen a lot to us around the holidays in our household.

It also doesn't hurt to find a new cookie recipe or two to try out. A batch of cookies isn't a huge commitment or anything. While I was online looking up a new recipe a few weeks ago, I ran across soem info on Miracle Ear. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to go and get fitted with some hearing aids like I've suspected I should get for a while now.

I have found a few new recipes this year that I've loved fixing. One of those is a pretty simple walnut and chocolate chip cookie. But you wouldn't believe just how great these cookies are! I'll have to fix these around other times of the year too!
