La Salle Technova Barcelona joins the startups international softlanding platform Enterprise Eurolodging

La Salle Technova Barcelona has joined the Enterprise Eurolodging, a platform where participates science and technology parks from seven different countries, promoted by the Association of Technology Parks of Spain (APTE) in collaboration with the International Association of Science Parks and Areas Innovation (IASP).

The platform offers softlanding services for all those start-ups that want to expanded into a new markets in other environments, facilitating mobility between parks and access to other innovative ecosystems spread across different countries in the World, including Italy, Belgium, China, Portugal or Brazil.

This initiative aims not only to facilitate the internalization of the startups located in the parks, but also to improve the ecosystem by promoting the exchange of experiences and facilitating synergies between the participants.

Successful 2nd Edition of EduEmpren, entrepreneur skills in secondary school

This weekend it was celebrated the Closing and Awards Ceremony of EduEmpren a program to encourage entrepreneur skills in secondary school students. The project organized by La Salle Technova Barcelona, together with La Salle Catalunya and La Salle Campus Barcelona-URL, is focused on prepare young entrepreneurs committed to their environment and give students tools to create their own social entrepreneurship project, solving a real problem, analyzing its viability, and transform it into a reality. The title was “Observe, propose and transform” and projects presented address many areas such as health, nutrition, education, social inclusion, waste and recycling.

This edition involved about 250 students, 64 working groups and 15 schools of La Salle Catalunya. More than 700 people participated in the Closing Ceremony where students presented theirs projects in front of a Jury in a 5 minutes Pitch, explained their posters and showed theirs videos. La Salle Technova new partner of IADP

La Salle Technova signed a partnership with the Innovation Area Development Partnership (IADP), a IASP member focused on offering combined expertise to guide and support science parks, industrial campus and innovation districts. La Salle Technova, an its executive president Josep M Piqué, have a great experience in innovation ecosystems, open innovation and entrepreneurship. La Salle supports innovation district developments in the city of Busan, South Korea, the region of Santa Catarina in Brazil, the city of Zenata in Morocco and other collaborations. IADP provide Technova a complementary knowledge market analysis, concept development, planning, design, (re)development, management and financial solutions.

On 28th February 2018, a delegation from the Innopolis Technological Park of Southern Korea came to visit La Salle Technova Barcelona. INNOPOLIS Foundation is a south korean public organization specialized in the commercialization of technologies by promoting the transfer of public technology to private companies and by realizing ideas into practical start-ups for entrepreneurs. During the event, the Innovation Director, Carmen Adan, has explained about the La Salle Technova Barcelona and the Network of Science and Technology Parks of Catalonia (XPCAT). In the other hand, the new president of Innopolis, Sung Kwang Yang, presented all the innovation about their park. After that, a memorandum of collaboration are firmed to confirm the intention to establish a cooperative framework that will promote and facilitate technology commercialization. The document was signed by Kwang Yang, and the president of La Salle Technova and XPCAT, Josep Piqué.

In addition, Innopolis has invite La Salle Technova to participate at the Innopolis Global Business Pitching Day in Mobile World Congress on March 1^st, where five korean Startups (BlueWaveTel, SMARF, NCube, Air Sound and Magconn Technology) and six from La Salle Technova (Cooking Data, EIXOS, The Pay PRO, Smart Cloud Image, Uniks App and Opticities) will explain their business model.

Also, in this event the investors Access to crowd, AEBAN, Banco Sabadell, Caixa Capital Risc, Chartboost, Foro Capital Pymes, Inveready, JB Capital Markets, Keiretsu Forum, N26, Nekko Capital, Nero Ventures, Private Investor, Smart Marketing and Road Capital will explain their investments criteria and conditions.

Nektria´s graduation during the La Salle Technova Networking

On February 22nd took place the second La Salle Technova Networking. In this opportunity, the CEO of ICAR, Xavier Codò, explain how he sold his company for €15 million. One of the main ideas he left was that “As an entrepreneur when you start you always focus on striving and keep the business growing, but you resist to think about selling, which is a mistake, you always need an exit plan, from day one.”

After La Salle Technova graduated one of its startups: Nektria with 2.85 million €. Now they will fly higher. Oriol Serra, CMO and Co-Founder of Nektria, said “Very grateful with La Salle Technova, we’re moving which is good because it means that we are growing but La Salle will always be our home“.

Finally, a CEO of Aptki, Chema Pina, talked abou the importance of the financiation and what they are looking for. Pina: “We invest in startups with an own technological development project through the flexibility of a pledge fund”.

The first Corporate Entrepreneurship Workshop takes off

La Salle Technova, Barcelona’s Chamber of Commerce and Caixa Bank had started a cycle of meetings on corporate entrepreneurship. These three companies wanted to promote a space to talk about the importance of innovation and how they can be connected with tech startups or small enterprises.

The first conference was held on February 7, 2018 at DayOne. The keynote speaker was the General Director of Corporate Services and Venture Capital of Sorigué, Alex Pardo.

Pardo explained the success case of Sorigue, when they decided to invest in a startups diversification project. “To date we have 21 investments or direct investments in CLEANTECH. Basically, we use artificial intelligence to provide us with better service as a company. ” Sorigué is a business group dedicated to Technology, Services, Engineering, Construction and Materials.

In addition, the president of La Salle Technova and president of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), Josep Piqué focused his speech on open innovation, business models on new technologies, as well as on the phases of project evolution.

Carlos Gramunt, Territorial Director of Barcelona’s CaixaBank, in addition to opening the day, spoke about the new center “DayOne” of the Condal City, which was conceived as a “hub” for meetings of talent and capital.

The 8th edition of Tech Demo Day is coming soon. It will be on March 15th, 2018. As a novelty, the TechDemoDay 2018 will have 4 different scenarios: Congress, Exhibitors Area, Open Mic and Networking between large corporations. The objective of the startup fair is to provide an environment where startups, investors and companies can connect and create sinergies. For more information click here.

Each year we have more than 1000 attendees and over 60 investors.

Interest Tech startups must submit their application. Just download and fullfil the OnePage, and sent it to diana.ramirez@technovabarcelona.org. The deadline to apply is Thursday, March 1st, 2018.

LS Technova participates in Transfiere 2018

On February 14th, the president of International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) and La Salle Technova, Josep Piqué, participated in a round table with others international experts of technology and scientific parks during the 7º Edition of Transfiere. Pique presented the open Innovation Living Lab of ENEL – ENDESA that was designed by La Salle Technova.

Transfiere is one of the biggest European Forum focusing on Science, Technology and Innovation, turning Andalusia into an international meeting point for two days with professionals and public representatives linked to innovation.

FemTalent celebrates 10 years with a special forum

On Friday, March 9th, a special forum for the 10th anniversary of the Fem Talent will take place from 9am to 2pm at the Technology Park of Barcelona Activa, located at Marie Curie, 8-14, Barcelona. The forum will gather professional women of international reference to carry out a debate about the women situation in the scientific, technological and innovation world, as well as the opportunities we currently have to project female talent in the future.

Femtalent is a pioneer project set up in 2008 that develops innovative actions in gender equality and women talent management in the various areas mentioned before.

The project is coordinated by The Network of Science and Technology Parks of Catalonia (XPCAT), and promoted by Barcelona Activa, in collaboration with other women associations.

On February 5th, 12 groups of students of La Salle Campus Barcelona presented the solution of their projects in the 10th La Salle Technova Business Idea Contest (BIC). This contest is a stimulous tool aiming to support entrepreneurship, innovation culture and activity among the students inside de university.

There were 25 projects participating in the contest and the 12 finalists had one minute each to present their proposals.

The 3 finalist projects and the awards were:

1st prize went to Delectrick project (Delhi Premoli Muniagurria, Tilla Lonnum, Patrick Richards and Celeste Dominguez)

In addicional, one student was selected to participate of a 3-day competition through a train ride between Barcelona, Paris and London. The contest, which will take place from February 23 to 26, aims to discover and enhance the innovative and entrepreneurial talent in the mobile phone industry. And the winner was: Diego Bellino

Within the Imagine Express 2018 train, 36 dreamers will travel: 12 creative, 12 computer engineers (developers) and 12 economists from the field of business administration (business profile); that without knowing you previously, will form teams of 3 people with the aim of creating new apps related to one of the sectors to choose (FINTECH, WATER, HEALTH, SMART CITIES AND OPEN).
