These days security is a top concern for everyone out there. VeriSign has stepped into the BlackBerry world to further assist with the needs of users in helping protect their personal information. VeriSign Identity Protection is a security based application which extends the layer of protection beyond your simple username and password by creating a unique one time password for all your registered sites and services every 30 seconds.

When logging in to any of your registered services you no longer need to worry about someone obtaining your username and password. If at the chance it was obtained, the unique login would be changed every 30 seconds to something only you would know. This type of protection is used in many environments, be it business or consumer level for VeriSign to make this available for everyone is a great offering. If security is among your concerns, be sure to check it out. Currently VeriSign Identity Protection is available via BlackBerry App World and for those who prefer a direct download you may visit the VeriSign mobile site for the download (note - latest devices like Storm2 / 9700 are not showing in App World yet so us the direct download).

Download VIP Via BlackBerry App World >>

This is likely one of the announcements everyone has been waiting to hear. The question has come up lots in the past while. "When or will BlackBerry ever support OpenGL graphics?" Let us wonder no more. Today as the BlackBerry Developers Conference starts off it's full steam ahead for OpenGL graphics acceleration from here on out.

The information didn't stop there when it came to creating rich content for BlackBerry devices. Research In Motion announced the availability of the all new BlackBerry Theme Studio 5.0, which replaces the previously available Plazmic Content Developer’s Kit and features the ability to import Adobe Photoshop files to BlackBerry Theme Builder, add ringtones and build screen transitions such as zooming, sliding, wiping and fading within themes. Ringtones and screen transitions are supported for BlackBerry smartphones running BlackBerry OS 5.0 and higher. Also, with the new theme builder came the announcement of themes being added to BlackBerry App World, full details on that later.

In addition to all this graphical goodness, one more announcement came in the way of interfacing with our BlackBerry smartphones. RIM announced an upcoming GUI builder that integrates into the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse will make it faster and easier for Java developers to build user interfaces for BlackBerry applications. Developers will be able to rapidly create and localize complex user interfaces with a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) view and drag and drop capabilities. The Java GUI builder will also allow developers to easily preview their user interface design on different BlackBerry smartphones. Read on for the full press release, this is some great stuff to see right here folks.

TELUS Set To Bring The BlackBerry Storm2 To Their Network For Canadians!

Well, we knew it was coming at some point to Canada. And while the exact date is still unknown, Blacks photography, a retailer for TELUS in Canada has let the cat out of the bag regarding the BlackBerry Storm2 on TELUS. Posted on their website for all to see (and still yet to be removed) sits the BlackBerry Storm2 9550. At this time information is slim and TELUS has yet to actually announce it, but with their retailers posting images of it I'm quite certain this will come sooner rather then later, since they are already out there (props to JaredtheTelusGuy in the CB forums for also posting some live shots of one). Any Canadians been waiting for a BlackBerry Storm2?

BlackBerry Curve 8900 In White Coming To AT&T?!?

Seems as though RIM is not only flooding the market with new BlackBerry smartphones but now also getting in the habit of relaunching old devices, just with new paintjobs. First we saw the BlackBerry Bold 9000 arrive in white on AT&T and Rogers (more carriers coming) but now we are getting a look at the BlackBerry Curve 8900 in white.

BGR didn't have any details on release date or anything along those lines but at least we get a glimpse at it. What do you all think? A lot of folks loved the white BlackBerry Bold 9000, so who is on board for a white BlackBerry Curve 8900?

Does An Official BlackBerry OS Update Correct All Problems? RIM Seems To Think So

A few days ago we covered a story that was posted on the Inside BlackBerry Blog. RIM had posted that they would be answering questions regarding BlackBerry App World and clearing up some unanswered questions about the application. After some issues with the blog not accepting questions being submitted another post went up yesterday, the second half. In it you'll find some common questions but one specifically may peak everyone's interest.

"Why won't BlackBerry App World work with my leaked OS?"

While I appreciate the power user's need to have the latest and greatest, you are using something that has not been publically released or fully tested, and of course has not been approved for use. You should only use the latest released OS for your BlackBerry smartphone - available from your carrier or at BlackBerry.com - and we think you'll find that everything will run smoothly on finalized (read: public) product.

A relevant question. But that answer doesn't really sit so well with me and probably not many others out there. It sounds as though running a leaked OS is the cause for all things not working right? But..Umm..how can this be? Considering some of the issues we have seen with officially released OS' on devices these days, we as users certainly know what was said is NOT the truth here. We could start off with themes not working (9530), media player bugs, menu system errors (9700) and the list really does go on and that folks, is the truth. Keep reading.

CrackBerry.com's feed sponsored by ShopCrackBerry.com. Does An Official BlackBerry OS Update Correct All Problems?
Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 Review

After many months of waiting impatiently for the BlackBerry Bold to even just be announced officially, we finally have reached launch day in Canada for it. Rogers wireless was the first to get it out the door here in Canada. Launch went fairly well with the exception of in store availablity. Most stores are still getting their shipments in but customer service will gladly process an order for you with 2-5 days for shipping. I ordered mine the day of release and had it delivered the very next day. Good on Rogers for that, but I'd have much preferred to go to a local dealer and have it the day it showed up on the Rogers website.

We've had a look at the BlackBerry Bold 9700 a few times now and not much has changed from the pre release devices pending on how far back you want to go. We have seen the device go from showing up pre-release with a trackball to now sporting a very responsive trackpad. Follow along and let's have a look at the officially released Rogers version of the new BlackBerry Bold 9700

Rogers Reduces Prices On BlackBerry Bold 9000, BlackBerry Curve 8900 And BlackBerry Curve 8520.

Amidst all the BlackBerry 9700 news some other changes did happen at Rogers the other day. Rogers has since reduced the pricing on some of their other BlackBerry offerings such as the BlackBerry Bold 9000, the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the BlackBerry Curve 8520. Often times when a new BlackBerry such as the 9700 comes people may have no interest in that device. If you're one of those people you may see it as the time to get a BlackBerry you do want at a discounted price.

All the mentioned devices are still great and no one out there should have to worry about them being obsolete for a little while yet. This would be a great time to grab a new device on the cheap and still have some of the best devices BlackBerry offers.

The BlackBerry Bold 9000 is now going for $99.99 in black or white and the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is now set at a mere $79.99, while the BlackBerry Curve 8520 is at what it should have been released at, being $49.99. All based on 3/yr long contracts with Rogers, of course.

More Details Available Via The Rogers Website >>

Bell rings in the device slightly cheaper then Rogers though at least in terms of 3 yr contracts.

As shown above, $229.95 will get ya a brand new BlackBerry Bold 9700 and prices goes down from there depending on term. 2 Yr/ $449.95 with a 1 yr contract rolling in at $549.95 and finally, no contract set at $599.95.
Are You Having Problems With Your BlackBerry Messenger Remote Back Up And Avatars?!?

After reviewing the forums for the past few days, I noticed a lot of users were having issues with their BlackBerry Messenger which was also noticed by DangermouseUK. The issues seen in this case is that avatars and remote back up of BlackBerry Messenger contacts is not correctly working. This current situation appears to be affecting not only BIS users but BES users as well.

From the information gathered, it seems the issues started as of Friday and have not been corrected since then. Not only are BIS and BES users not able to sync avatars you can't register a new email, restore a backup remotely, and even restoring using a backup file from the PC using device switch or the feature built into messenger, will NOT initiate a PIN switch on RIM servers.

This is a confirmed issue and from the information, it does appear that the servers designed to support these features are not responding to the requests to perform the actions mentioned. So I ask you all, anyone having issues with remote back up of BBM contacts? Maybe you have some people on your list who once had avatars and now, do not? Let us know in the comments if you're affected by this.

Time has come for all you Canadian wannabe 9700 owners. The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has just gone live on the Rogers website at the price we stated a few days ago. $299.99 and 3 yrs of your life is all it will take to get you the hottest new BlackBerry. What are you all waiting for? Go, Go, Go!

Rogers Bold 9700, White Bold 9000 And Cameraless Bold 9000 Now Appearing For Corp. Upgrades, Soon To Be Orderable

As we mentioned the other day, Rogers is ramping up their BlackBerry 9700 launch in the next few days as stock has became available today for retailers to order through hardware management. At this time though the Bold 9700, White BlackBerry Bold 9000 and Cameraless Bold 9000 are starting to show up for corporate orders system wise (salescentral), but are yet to be orderable. While they haven't filtered through all systems, the fact of them showing up, once again proves that a full on launch is near and some stores should be getting stock in as early as November 4th. Two days too long in my opinion.

Thanks Cellguru!
Super QWERTY - One Key Access To All Applications

We all love making things easier for ourselves. Super QWERTY is an app that can make a whole lot easy on your BlackBerry. Super QWERTY allows you to create one key shortcuts for all applications on your device. Much like how RIM includes a few directly into the OS (although, recently has been removing some) you can now create your own one-key services.

Features:

The fastest way to access your applications at present.

Quick start with the key "q" in main screen.

You can start Super QWERTY in the system menu, launch from anywhere.

Up to 80 shortcuts, you can set as much as your favorite applications.

Friendly design, attention to the used shortcuts, never mess up.

You can enter the applications in Super QWERTY simply by clicking your trackball/trackpad/enter.

Easily to compose a SMS/PIN/Email text to your contacts.

Your settings will be saved even your reinstall Super QWERTY.

Lifetime free upgrade.

Support Bold2 9700

Sadly, no free trial is available for Super QWERTY but the application is pretty straight forward in how it works. It's available for all devices with the exception of the BlackBerry Storm2 for only $3.99. (Please, note no OTA is available. Desktop installs only)

Purchase And Download Super QWERTY Today For Only $3.99 >>

FileScout for BlackBerry v1.4.0.0 Released

For those of you who read the CrackBerry blogs daily, you've likely read previous postings about FileScout. Personally for me this application is one of the best tools to install on your BlackBerry Smart phone, ever. So many uses for FileScout that to not have it installed on my device would just feel wrong. With that said, the newest version is now available for download. New features and bug fixes are on the agenda for this release. You can check it out below.

A new blog post went up yesterday over at the Inside BlackBerry blogs. It may be of a lot of interest to those among us here in the BlackBerry community. RIM wants to hear all the questions you have about BlackBerry App World.

Inside BlackBerry writer and Product Manager, BlackBerry App World Alex. K has stepped up to the plate to address what is the first part of what I assume, is many articles regarding BlackBerry App World. Ever since the launch of BlackBerry App World there have been some questions which have remained unanswered -- be sure to check it out if you have any that you would like to see addressed.

Slacker Radio Updated: Version 2.0.91 for BlackBerry Smartphones Now Available For Download

Slacker Radio got a little bump in versions recently. Version 2.0.91 is now available for download from the Slacker Radio website. Now would be a good time to get in on their Halloween music channel as well if you have never checked Slacker out before.

Sadly, no changelog is available at this time for what exactly the update corrects. From my checking of it, it appears to be some if not full support for OS 5.0. but if you notice anything else don't hesitate to drop us a note in the comments or in the CrackBerry forums of your findings.

This is more so for those of you who have never installed BlackBerry App World before, because those of you who have it already should have gotten the notification update by now. In any event, BlackBerry App World has been updated once again and now sits at version 1.1.0.23. While no changelog came with this release I'm sure once it gets in the hands of more users we'll see some information about what has been addressed with this release in the forums. So, have you downloaded it? Any new changes or things you notice, feel free to drop em in the comments folks.

Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 Launch Approaching Fast!

We've been hearing some rumors for a few days regarding Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700 release. Finally, it seems they are rumors now more. Rogers has sent off the emails to CSR's telling them to take the BlackBerry Bold 9700 training courses in the Rogers Fastrack system, while Rogers BlackBerry Tech agents have already been trained up. We were also hearing that the devices were sitting in the warehouse, flashed with the latest 5.0 OS and all packaged up for Rogers customers across Canada. All of this is now confirmed.

All that's really left right now is for dealers to place their orders and get them shipped off to retail locations. Shipping will be available from November 2nd and with some retailers receiving their devices possibly as soon as November 4th. The final rumor that has been passed around is that Rogers is planning on doing a soft launch of the device and while this still remains a rumor until some are actually sold, retailers will have the devices on hand and they're already in the system to be processed. And of course, Rogers may want to be getting ahead of Bell in the sales department if even just by a day or two. So, who's excited for the Bold 9700 now? Gonna be hitting up your local Rogers location to grab one of these?
