We have limited stocks of these which are currently on Special Offer, Top of the Range folding model from Dawes and manufactured by Folding Cycle Manufacturer Dahon. The Dawes Ace uses a lightweight Aluminium Frameset matched with the unique Dahon Folding Design and Quality Parts.

The Folding Mechanism takes seconds to fold away with a simple catch to undo in the centre of the frame and a linked hinge design making the whole folding design secure and a feel of quality throughout the whole folding process. The handlebars feature a similar clamp design and fold flat and with Folding Pedals and a Magnetic Clip to hold the cycle together while folded the Bike Packs away nicely when required.

Hope Stainless Bottom Bracket / Hope Ceramic Bottom Bracket

These have been really popular both instore and on the website as a quality replacement Sealed Bottom Bracket unit for both Shimano Hollowtech 2 BB's and Raceface X-Type as well as some FSA Bottom Brackets and with the optional convertor kit the Truvativ GXP Range of external bottom brackets.

They are available in either a Stainless Bearing Version or the more expensive Ceramic Bearing Version. The Bottom Bracket will fit both 68 and 73mm Bottom Bracket Shell's with the aid of 3 spacers depending on the Shell Width of your Bottom Bracket,

We have been using a Stainless version in one of the Shop demo bikes for around 6 months and during the depths of winter and found it to be both durable and a reliable bottom bracket with only 1 routine clean out required with both sealed still running fine. The other major advantage with these Bottom Brackets is that you do not need to remove the whole unit when replacing the bearings - they simply clip in and out making routine servicing easier and therefore prolonging the life of your bottom bracket.

As with all Hope components the machining is second to none with a range of 6 anodized colours. Our only gripe is when running in a Downhill Bike/Dirt Jump Bike with a Chain Device or 73mm Shell the cup insertion length is not really enough, and for customers who are looking for a more suitable Heavy Duty Bottom Bracket with a longer cup insertion we would recommend the Raceface Diabolus Bottom Bracket, For all other uses however these Bottom Brackets make a lot of sense and look trick on any bike.

The Haro Backtrail X5 is the top of the line in the Haro Backtrail BMX range and features a 100% Chromoly X-Series Frameset which is built around a 20.8" Top Tube. The X5 uses a lot of top end finishing kit which both keeps the weight to a minimum but also offers better durability as well as design. The Haro Branded 3 Piece Chainset uses Sealed Mid Bottom Bracket Bearings along side a MicroDrive BMX Gear System using a Gold 22T Front Ring matched to a 9T Cassette Sealed Rear Hub

It also comes with 8" Full Chromo Handlebar matched with a Gold Haro BMX A-Headset Clamp Stem and Haro Stich BMX Handlebar Grips. The Bike comes with a Full Giro Cable Detangler System which allow the rider to complete 360deg Handlebar Spins without the Brake Cable getting tangled up and this is matched with a Reverse Tektro U-Brake System

We have large stocks of Maxxis Bike Tyres including the popular Cross Country version of the Maxxis High Roller 26"x2.1 and the Maxxis Crossmark 26"x2.1, These make a fantastic pair of the tyres with the High Roller offering a great hook up and a good rear drive tyre yet the Crossmark matched with it's oversize 2.1 design, minimal rolling resistance and fantastic grip in pretty much all conditions.

In the Downhill Range this time of the year the Maxxis High Roller 26"x.2.5 ST DP is flying off the shelf and we have good stock of these (SuperTacky Dual Ply) as well as the High Roller 26"x2.5 Dual Ply 60a, The difference being that the 60a is made from a harder more durable rubber which offers better wear yet you obviously compromise on some grip. These tyres however are a spares must for all of you planing to the Alps (Morzine) on that riding holiday in 2009 as the price of tyres in the resorts are eye watering matched with the low £ to euro rate at the moment.

Flow Drift 24" - Single Speed - 2009 - Review

These have been really popular both in store and over the Internet and here at bikeoutlet we have been a avid fan of the Flow Bikes from the start... , They are now truly part of the UK scene and give DMR a run for their money. The company also sponsor 2 UK Pro-Riders which on Flow Bikes have done really well at the NPS 4X events.
The Flow Drift 24" is a Dirt Jump Specific bike made from Custom Full Chromo Tubing and using some real quality component parts it makes the bike ideal for most Street/Dirt Jump applications.
The Frame to start with has some real nice details - Horizontal Dropouts, Flanged Headset Tubing plus all the normal you would expect with a hardcore Dirt Jump bike - Reinforced Head Gusset etc..
Parts wise the line up is Basic but quality in the component spec choice which is nice to see and a real change from a lot of the rubbish the mainstream brands spec their bikes with , The Marzocchi Dirt Jumper 3 Forks are a great, solid and reliable Suspension Fork which is ideal for the fast and large impacts the cycle is built for, The Insane 3 Piece Chromoly Chainset offers both sealed bearings matched with a Industry Standard Design, The stock Insane Wheel set again is well built and shed with Maxxis Holy Roller Tyres - ideal for any Urban or Dirt Assault. The Single Speed Set up runs a 16t Freewheel and can be converted to gears at a later date if required.
The Hayes MX2 Disc Brakes are both solid and probably the best Cable Disc Brakes on the market, I spoke to Tony Wilkinson from Flow Bikes about this point asking if he though a Hydraulic Version was likely - he response was that the dyilema of putting a cheap Hydraulic Disc Brake on just seemed wrong and not suited to the bike, The Hayes MX2 is both solid strong and easy to fix if it did go wrong - more akin with get on your bike and ride it rather than spend hours fixing it - I personally could agree more and the Hayes MX2 is a fantastic brake certainly a lot better than the cheap Hayes Sole Hydraulic Unit.
The real detail on the Bike comes with the Blackspire Bar and Stem which feels right from the Start and offers a Solid Feel to the front of the bike. It is so easy for a manufacturer to get things completely wrong by putting a cheap bar and stem on a bike and with the Drift Flow certainly have not fallen into this trap.
All in all the Flow Drift offers fantastic value for money - some real quality parts along side a dependable reliable

Iron Horse Azure Expert - BikeOutlet Review

The Iron Horse Azure is one of the worlds best trail xc/marathon full suspension frameset and both this model and the Full Iron Horse DW Linkage range framesets are massively underated in the UK market. A True World Class Winning Frameset from IronHorse nested around some of the best parts available in the industry.

The Frame Design on the Azure is second to none made from 6069 Aluminium which is both Strong and Lightweight, Sealed Cartridge Bearing Pivots using MAX E Bearings with a Eye to Detail which is second to none, The Flared Headtube to Intergrated Headset looks fantastic and adds extra strength the the Headtube Gusset Area.

The main frame is based around the DW suspension technology offering 90mm or 3-1/2" of controled Rear Wheel Travel via the Linkage Technology - This is 3rd generation suspension design and the only systems which come close in terms of the design is VP - Virtual Pivot and many would argue thats just not as good to ride .

The DW Link Technology has had world wide aclaim from Cycling Magazines and Riders a like and uses a Anti-Squat Mechanically tuned design that does not need lock outs or platform shocks that often make the bikes feel wooded when riden offroad, Cruitially the design offers very little pedal feedback with a ability to put power down in a manner that is unrivaled. It is fair to say that these bikes, Climb, Descend and Trail Ride faster than anything else you have riden before

The DW system also mean less time on the setup once preload is adjusted correctly the Suspension is ready to ride without the need to adjust platforms and control valves.

I recently test rode our Shop Demostrator Model of the IronHorse Azure Expert at Dalby Forest and straight away the bike felt at home as soon as I pulled it out of the Van and rode it round the car park, What amazes you with this cycle is how fast it rolls.

The model we have set up differs to the standard spec (please see at the bottom of this review) and this is mainly because of the multi useage that the cycle will have, We have however not adjusted with the standard frame or rear shock and this is factory set and felt amazing on the first ride out.

Once Riding the suspension came into its own as the long slow climb out of the visitors centre car park offers a great warmup on the muscles,

What became instantly noticable was the lack of suspension bob which under power becomes virtualy none and the cycle rides like a hardtail, However as soon as the trail started to level out and the rolling contour of the single track unvieled the suspension became live and active,

The travel just feels right in these settings and almost endless if you need it, At no point during the ride did I feel the shock bottom out (which can easily be adjusted via Shock Preload) and yet the suspension never felt hard, Over Rougher stuff the bike just eats up.

The DW Linkage makes the suspension feel plush as soon as you need it and yet again when you needed to put the power down the wheel digged back in and away she flew.

The bike was litterly flying round and with it I added more confidence to it. The bike didnt seem to have a limit , It became clear that I was hitting sections of the trail a lot faster than I had before and was leaving the rest of ou party behind.

One of the riders with us had a Orange Five and to compare Iron Horse DW Link to the Orange's Single Pivot Design I rode a section of Singletrack Downhill on both,

The differences were amazing, The Orange seemed harsher even though it had more travel, It was noticably harder to pedal and therefore harder to ride, The other noticable point on the Iron Horse was the stiffness of the rear end especially in tighter turns and the directness of the bike.

Because the DW Linkage actually closes the gap between bearing and axile it make the rear of a DW Frameset a lot tighter and stiffer. Same sections that I was hitting the Iron Horse Azure on seemed a lot more controled, although again this could be down to the Crude Single Piviot Design that Orange use.

Many would argue that the Single Pivot is better than multi linkage such as the DW Link/VP/ or Horst Linkage Systems, I say thats just plain rubbish they have there place, but the Pedal Feedback, Brake Jack make single piviot bikes a lot harsher and are actually harder to ride.

The only arguement is that you have to replace one set of bearings instead of 4 sets but it is the same amount of labour involved and if it rides better there is no argument. Iron Horse also use MAX E Bearings as Standard which use a extra 2x sealed bearings for longer life and better bearing load

The Claud Butler Urban range was built with Speed, Comfort and Practically in mind while not loosing sight of a sporty looking bike. SunLine Lock On Grips Review

We have been selling the SunLine Half Waffle Grips instore for the last 12 months and both staff members and rider feedback has been really positive, The Grips are both a ideal thickness and the tacky rubber means you have a good contact point with the bars what ever the conditions can throw at you, The Half Waffle Design means you have a smooth upper area to the grip while still commanding grip on the bottom of the bar. The Raised Inner Edge mean your hands have a excelent resting area and this also helps run into brake levers/shifter units and keep things looking neat.

The Lock-On design is one of the best I have seen in the industry with a double 2.5mm Allen key clamp on both sides of the grip and you get Alloy End Caps which also clamp on to the bar which look super smart and I would say are worth a £5.00 on their own !!

We now have stocks of the latest 2009 Hope Tech Disc Brake range including the Hope Tech X2, M4 and V2 Brakes in the Braided Hose Options. We have now fitted a couple of sets of these brakes and have been blown away with the Power, Adjustment and ease of fitment, They trully are a evolution in MTB Disc Brakes and all the customers we have sold the brakes to seem very impressed with their performance.

The Lever now have a flip flop design meaning you can run the brake either side with access to the main bleeding top cap being located again on both sides. The Lever is based on a offset pin which gives a much better lever ratio than previous models matched with the adjustable bite and reach point adjustments via 2 alloy adjusters located on the edge of the lever this can be done on the fly. The Lever blade end is drilled for better finger contact. The new design does mean that you have to remove your shifter display units to mount the lever although the brake lever could be run on the other side it means shifter lever reach is comprimised by the size of the lever.

The Caliper is a slimmed down based design of the standard Mini Caliper featuring Hope's new Bleed Port which is offset for easier bleeding on the brakes,

All in all these brakes are Great with the Power on the X2 being mainly boosted by a high performance and well designed Brake Lever
