Have you noticed the new youth ministry logo yet? There might be more to it than you think. Not only is it sleek and more modern looking, but it also captures a summary of our vision statement.

So what’s the vision again? Bethel’s youth ministry will develop student leaders who GO GROW WORSHIP Jesus so they can live life to its fullest.

The logo includes the phrase GO GROW WORSHIP in pictures. That’s what the three squares on the top are about. The arrow represents GO. The tree represents GROW. The person represents WORSHIP.

Tonight at FUEL, we discussed spiritual gifts. We looked at Ephesians 4:11-16 and 1 Corinthians 12:4-11 and had small group discussions on those passages.

Some of you might be wondering what spiritual gifts you might have. Well, that’s what this post if for. Realize this- no “inventory” will tell you exactly what you should be doing in service to Jesus, but it can help point you in a good direction.

So this inventory is pretty good at breaking down some basic areas you might be gifted in. It’s pretty simple, so give it a shot. Then serve! Use those gifts!!!

We’re back from another ski retreat at Ski Sawmill! This past weekend was filled was a lot of fun, new friends, skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing, singing, worship, discussion groups, eating, laughing, sleeping (a little), and God’s presence. The worship sessions were a great time for everyone to remember that it’s “All Because of Jesus I’m Alive” and that Jesus is “Mighty to Save.” Even on the bus ride home, everyone sang Mighty to Save a few times.

So the recap pretty much goes like this: We got there Friday night around 10:30, did some fun games to meet some new people, and then slept. Saturday was simple- worship sessions, eating, and skiing (or other snow activities). Saturday night featured a “drum-off” of 2 of Taneytown’s students and a dance show by our very own Brian! Make sure you check out those pics and video once it is up on our YouTube channel. Sunday, we had a worship session in the morning, then loaded up, said goodbye, and hit the road for the nearly 5 hour ride home.

Make sure you check out pictures of the weekend by clicking here.

I was very impressed this year with how our students mixed right in with Taneytown Baptist Church’s students. The groups were nearly even in numbers and many new friends were made. I was very proud of our students. I hope you all enjoyed getting to know new people and make some lasting connections with them.

I learned a lot over this past weekend. Especially how you shouldn’t stand straight in front of snowboarders to take pictures of them doing stunts off of a tabletop. My knees is still sore, although I’m able to walk now pretty well!!!

So people who were on the retreat- leave a comment telling what you enjoyed about the weekend. Share your best story right here so we’ll be able to look back on it whenever we want!

Now we wait for Ski Retreat ‘10!!!!!

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?

What if we flipped through it several time a day?

What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?

What if we used it to receive messages from the text?

What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?

What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?

What if we used it when we traveled?

What if we used it in case of emergency?

This is something to make you go….hmm…where is my Bible?

Oh, and one more thing.
Unlike our cell phone, we don’t have to worry about our Bible being
disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill.

Makes you stop and think ‘where are my priorities? And no dropped calls!

You can now listen to the Bible every day by subscribing to the ESV plans by podcast in iTunes. Each daily recording is updated in your iTunes if you subscribe to the podcast. There are different plans you can choose from. There’s no excuse now for not being in Scripture because you don’t like to read! Reading certainly has value, but now you can still hear the Word of God while driving, jogging, walking, or just sitting doing nothing but listening.

So have you ever been stranded in an airport? If you have, leave a comment telling us what you?ve learned.

Here?s what happened to Nikki and me:

Atlanta. The connection flight was cancelled for ?operational reasons? and we were given business class seating on the next available flight, which leaves at 10:55pm.

So we?ll still get to where we need to go?that?s not the problem. But what in the world do you do in an airport for 8 hours??!!

Here?s what we learned today, and maybe you can find enjoyment in these activities when you find yourself stranded in an airport (by the way- Atlanta, I think, is the largest airport in the country, so if you have to get stranded, it?s the place to be):

So when you go to a restaurant, always take 3 pennies with you. Why? Because you won’t be bored while waiting for your food. Some of our youth discovered this after our Sunday evening worship service this past weekend.

Here’s how the penny game works:

1-Clear the table of condiments, sugar, etc., and sit across from your opponent.

2-Whoever is going first, put the 3 pennies in a triangle, all together, with the top of the triangle facing you.

3-The opponent puts his index finger and pinky on his end of the table to make a “goal post.”

4-Player 1 uses his finger to push the pennies. However they land, that player must proceed to push one penny through the other 2 (no matter how they land) until he gets the penny into the goal post the other player is creating.

5-How to lose your turn: flick a penny off the table, or touch any pennies together.

6-Highest score wins.

Don’t forget to eat your food when it comes…
