These swatches are for the Shiseido Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer L/S in RD629 'Natural Red' Sheer L/S ($25, 0.14oz). This l/s is super moisturizing, almost like a lipbalm but wears as a lipstick (i.e., longer wear). Just as its name states, it looks very natural on my lips and gives them a glossy, healthy look. Price is a bit steep, but I consider its quality is superb. I really like it.

So last night was the Britney Spears concert here in Puerto Rico. EXCELLENT SHOW! Love her!!!! (Yes, I'm a fan). She even brought her whole family to the stage: kids, boyfriend, Mom, sister, niece...OMG her sons are so cute, they just kept jumping and dancing (she was singing 'I wanna go').

I wanted to wear nice makeup, so I decided to finally put my UD's Naked Palette to use. I applied 'Virgin' as a wash and well into the inner corners/tearduct area of my eyes; 'Shog' in 2/3 of the eyelid and lower lash line; and 'Darkhorse' in the outer 1/3, outer lower lashline and also blended it well in the crease. I ended up applying 'Creep' in the 'outer v' for some depth. I then just finished the look with eyeliner and mascara.

I'm sorry these pics don't show the true colors of the e/s, my camera battery died so I had to use my Iphone. Oh well.

Yeah, I know...

Once again, I'm under one of those 'un-inspirational' spells. That and that basically, the makeup I wear for work is very simple. I basically try to even out my skintone (because of my melasma condition, I have some darkspots on my face). And I say 'try' because I hate to go to work with lots of foundation, considering I work at a construction site and sometimes I sweat like crazy. One day I looked in the mirror and, ugh, didn't know what I was thinking...Anyway, I'm trying to keep it as simple as posible.

I've bought lots of great cosmetics and brushes a few months ago but I don't feel like doing a 'haul' post--I found them useless if they don't include swatches. Since I haven't made swatches or taken pics, I don't want to post anything. But I'm working on that...

In the next pics I'm wearing MAC Studio Moisture Tint SPF15 in 'Medium Dark' ('rediscovered' it and I'm loving it) topped with NARS Loose Powder in Beach (<---love love LOVE it); MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC35; NARS 'Amour' Blush on the cheeks; on my eyes--UDPP in Sin with some loose powder on top; Maybelline Define-a-Brow Eyebrow Pencil in Dark and Medium Brown and CG LashBlast Volume Mascara in Very Black. The l/s in these pics is Revlon's Matte L/S in 'Stormy Pink' which now I absolutely hate. (It was midday when I took these pics and hadn't reapply my l/s).

So there you have it. I do have to mention, I wear a different foundation per week. Since I'm a foundation freak, many of them were not being used for a long time and that had to change. But this MAC tinted moisturizer is really good.

You know, I just need to concentrate on the blessings in my life and try to keep focus on what's good. Find joy in the little things. Try to remember my 'motto' all the time --Live, Love, Laugh. =)

I just love these two colors. The Bettina one reminds me of candy and fun things and Revlon's Blue Mosaic...wow, LOVE IT. It has hexagonal blue and green glitter. Looks great over Vintage Jeans.

++I would like to mention, I took these pics today but I painted my nails on Thursday. They haven't chipped yet and still look shiny. To me, the Seche Clear Base and the Vite Top Coat are simply AMAZING. ++

Drugstore lippies: Revlon Matte and Wet-n-Wild L/S

I bought these three l/s at Walmart the other day. Lately I've been looking for matte lippies because most of the times they are very pigmented. Most of the time.

The shades I got (from left to right):

I love the shade, yes it clashes with my warm skintone but that's the contrast I was lookin' for. What I did not like was that I had to swipe it on my lips like ten times to get the desired intensity. Don't know if something is wrong with the lippie. It was sealed when I bought it...

This one is very pigmented and looks very natural on me. Nothing out of this world when worn alone, but looks very pretty with gloss.

Wet-n-Wild Mega Last L/S in #901B-Think Pink (semi-matte finish)

Love this l/s! This shade looks very...retro? on me but at the same time makes me look very bronzed. It does comes out loking way too shocking in flash pics, but it looks really cool in non-flash photos. Of the three l/s I bought, this one impressed me the most. Super pigmented, felt creamier than the Revlon ones and lasts for hours (it is semi-matte after all). I think WnW claim 4 hrs, I'd say 3 but that's okay. At least they don't claim 8hrs or something like that.

Yesterday I went to my niece's birthday party and also to a stand-up comedy show by Raymond Arrieta (one of Puerto Rico's best comedians--Raymond, te la comiste!!!). So I decided to wear a bit of color in my makeup to liven up my black, gray and white outfit.

This look was inspired by a beautiful and vivacious blogger, Camila from Super Vaidosa. Seriously, check out her blog and very helpful videos. I've seen many of her looks and noticed that her eyeliner is always on what I consider the heavy, thick side. Also, she chooses to wear bright or beautiful nude lipsticks most of the time. I love it.

++I also want to mention that with the help of the Philosophy Primer, EL DW Makeup, the NARS eyeprimer and the Skindinavia Spray my makeup stayed flawless for more than 8 hrs. I mean, when I got home around midnight I thought it was a shame to take off my makeup because it still looked great. =)

Nails: Sally Hansen's Fearles Fog & Revlon's Plum Night

Sally Hansen's Fearless Fog (purple-ish gray) and Revlon's Plum Night (very dark plum)

Both colors are so beautiful and complement each other. I was going to do a french manicure but was too tired...so I applied Plum Night in one finger because I'm such a rebel, LOL ^__^

I've just applied and massaged my Sally Hansen's Vitamin E Oil for my cuticles. So good, but careful, just a little drop is needed in each nail. More than that and it can get really messy. I alternate between this oil and the Vaseline Petroleum Jelly.

Review: MAC Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation

Once it sets, it does not goes away or fades or transfer. Very stubborn foundation.
Looks as if just applied hours after being actually done so.
16 shades too choose from.
It does controls oil and has a 'natural' finish, which to me means not too matte, not to 'dewy'.
Does not need to be set with powder.

My shade NC40 is quite different from the SFF NC40, it's yellower. It doesn't affect me that much, but I've read many people having issues with this particular fact.
It sets super quickly. If you thought Revlon's Colorstay Makeup dried fast, this one dries to the speed of light. That leaves me a very short time to blend it really well. For this reason, it is not possible for me to 'build it up' for more coverage.
I always feel it on my face, it makes my skin feel very tight and firm, but not in a good way. I don't like to feel my makeup during the day.
Because it has a physical sunscreen (titanium dioxide) it is not too good for flash photography.

My skin right now: NC 40 in SF Powder and Fluid and ProLongwear;

Combination skin (normal skin on cheeks with oily t-zone)

Ok. So I never write about nails. Why? Because it was something I considered a lost cause. I mean, I love all the daring colors out there nowadays but I always make such a mess when applying nail polish I just considered I wouldn't waste my time. So I just kept my nails very short and clean.

Well, I don't know what came into me these past couple of weeks, but suddenly I'm interested in doing nails right and of course, to love the results. I guess it's the same feeling I had when I started to do my makeup back in 2007 at 35 y/o. I realized I didn't know how to do it well and that represented a challenge. Fun thing is that, with makeup, everyday is a new experience, everyday I learn something new or how to improve what I think I already know. I never get bored. Now I'm feeling the same way about nails. LOL! So many possibilities. Yep, you may think I just discover the Nile (as we say in spanish).

I turned to YouTube (of course) and love how many tutorials are there on how to take care of nails and how to apply nail polish. Now, that is pretty basic but honestly, I found them very helpful. I have very shaky hands, so learning how to work with the brush was crucial. Many people use the 3-stroke method which I try to do, but sometimes I do need more than that. Besides, my nails bed is pretty wide so 3 strokes in each one of them doesn't always do the trick. At the end, is whatever works for me.

Again, to me it was more important how to deal with the brush. I always begin in the center, then distribute the nail on the sides. Also, cleaning the cuticles from any mistakes is a very necessary last step for a gorgeous looking manicure.

These 2 videos were very helpful to me:

To remove polish, I prefer 100% pure acetone. It's faster but can also be very drying so I have to remember to apply oil to my cuticles and hand lotion overall.

One important thing is that I cannot rush painting my nails. If I want pretty nails without a dent or something like that, I have to take some time off and relax--and that is so okay with me, lol.

Last week I painted them but did it all wrong; this time I think they look 98% right to me. Sorry, they look a bit wet around the cuticles; it is the vitamin E oil. I forgot to massage it into the cuticles b4 taking pics (I use oil every other day, my cuticles get very dry). Also, I forgot to show the nail polish I used. Rookie mistakes? Hehehe. Here's a link to it: BETTINA NAIL ENAMEL IN 186. I don't know if Bettina is sold in the US: it is puerto rican brand of makeup and nail polish. I get it on Walmart, Walgreens and many others DS. Very affordable brand, though I have to say, to obtain a very opaque color I had to apply 3 layers.

My MAC Bloggers' Obsession, Part 2

The lipglasses from MAC Bloggers' Obsession collection are so gorgeous, I decided to buy 4 of them. To me, the colors are quite different from those in the permanent line or to what I have in my stash, which is the main reason I got them--and I love them!

The one I bought from this collection:

Caqui--A beautiful orange l/g. I think this is my first really orange gloss that fits me so well. Creamy with no shimmer.

Sonoran Rain--A coral red with gold and silver shimmer...LOVE IT, my fave from this collection. It may be described as a coral red, but I all I thought when I saw it was...tomatoes! LOL

Nitro:Licious 2046--A very pigmente cool red, though I consider it to look more neutral on my lips. My first very pigmented red lipglass. This one also has no shimmer.

All of my Purple Life--The names says it, real purple. I don't have a lipglass like this one. The closest purple I have is MAC Hello Kitty's Fast Friends l/g and it is very shimmery with just a hint of color. I wouldn't wear All of my Purple Life alone: it makes me look pale. But for a dark or even a gothic look, it is perfect.

One of the reasons I like the MAC l/g is because they do last on my lips for hours *4hrs* before starting to fade. They are tacky, but that's one of the things that make them last. Love love love them. Also, the lipglasses for this collection are so pigmented!

My MAC Bloggers' Obsession

It's been a long time since I've bought 2 or more products of a MAC collection. It's just that many of them look so much alike. I got these products online weeks ago, when many of the shades became available again (most were sold out in minutes the first time around). I watched so many swatches of the e/s and l/g of this collection, I knew just the ones I wanted.

E/S: "Jealousy Wakes" and "Hocus Pocus"

L/G: "Caqui", "All of my Purple Life", "Nitro:Licious 2046" and "Sonora Rain"

Jealousy Wakes (VP) -- It's creator (Christine from Temptalia.com) describes it as a "emerald green with teal and gold pearl". I first debated if I really needed it (not just wanted it) because I thought it looked like Shimmermoss or Aquadisiac...but oh no. This e/s is absolutely beautiful and I don't have a shade (or for that matter nor I recall MAC having) a shade similar to it, which I understand was one of Christine's goals.

Hocus Pocus (S) -- The Makeup Girl (Lianne) says it is a "dark sooty grey with silver pearl". I realized a while ago that I love grey e/s. I just wanted this one. I thought it would looked maybe like "Knight Divine" or "Smoke&Diamonds". But not so. The silver pearl makes it looks amazing and call me crazy but do I detect gold flecks? IDK.

Hocus Pocus (L) and Jealousy Wakes

Here are the swatches:

Jealousy has a Veluxe Pearl finish and Hocus P. is Satin, two of my fave MAC Finishes. Quality is superb.

What?!? Sienna Miller is shown as an example of theses "bad looks"? No way, she looks nice, well, except the "bed head", LOL.

I don't agree with many of the "looks" mentioned here; I don't think is the bangs, edgy shag or the red lips per se, is how they are wearing them (too much makeup, bad hairstyle or accessories...; I mean, the edgy shag...come on girl, wash your hair!).

MAC Sheen Supreme L/S: Insanely it

I simply love love love these lippies from MAC. Great formula and texture. Very hydrating and wears for a decent amount of time. This past June I bought my second one from this line, it's called "Impressive". MAC describes it as a "watermelon pink"; on my lips is a very vivid, bright cool fuchsia-pink and I love it. I was afraid it was going to clash with my warm skin tone, but it works well. It's different from my usual neutral shades and pushes me out of my "comfort zone" which I like from time to time.

I took this pic the other day with my Iphone. Please note: I was in my car and daylight was hitting my face from different angles. I suppose that's why different shades of my makeup are very noticeable on my skin in this pic. =/ But wow, love my vibrant fuchsia lips!

++ PLEASE NOTE: This is not a 'versus' blog post; it's just to show you guys how similar these two lippies are. Boths have their pros and cons. I really like the MAC's Viva Glam program since all the money goes to the MAC Aids Fund, so the money we all spent on these products are totally worth it...plus the l/s and l/g are awesome quality ;) ++

The pigmentation in both lipsticks is almost the same. VGGaga2 is just a tad lighter when swatched, it looks like it has a bit more pink in it, but on my lips it's really hard to tell one from the other. A main difference is the texture: VGGaga2 is creamier, more 'emollient' and lasts way longer on my lips than Circe. All in all, to me Circe is a good drugstore dupe. If you are curious about VGGaga2 or if you are in a budget, you may take a look for NYX's Circe. But remember, every penny paid for the Viva Glam l/s goes to the MAC AIDS Fund.

Phew! Wow. So many claims and explanations...guess it has to do with the high tag.

SHADE I BOUGHT: 6.5 Tawny

COVERAGE: Light to Medium (by layering)

FINISH: Satin, dewy

MY EXPERIENCE WITH IT: Since this is the priciest foundation I've bought --ever--, I decided to wait for a few months to make this review. I bought it from the Giorgio Armani website back in December, 2010 (okay, it was more than a few months...lol). So:

The shade 6.5 is great for NC 37 skin, could be used for NC 40 with a bit of bronzer. That's one of the downsides of this product: not many shades available (8 only?).
Very light texture and feeling, which is great.
It's texture is very watery indeed. It is water based after all. I pour it on my stainless steel palette and prefer to apply it with my MAC 187. Using a sponge with this would cause to waste too much product, no matter if it is damped.
Since it provides light to medium (at most) coverage --at least on me-- I need to use concealer to cover most of the dark/brown spots on my face. But I guess on ladies with better skin than mine, it would look really nice.
It settles into my pores and lines! Ugh! It doesn't matter if I wear primer or not (I have used many types of primer--what works best for me is applying a light layer of MAC Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder first, then the foundation.
On my combinaton skin (oily T-zone, normal skin on cheeks) it looks great the first couple of hours but it does not lasts. I had to use blotting paper like crazy and still it starts moving all around my face--hate that.
As mentioned, my skin gets super oily a few hrs after applying it. I don't get it, it does has alcohol in its first 5 ingredients. Maybe it's because of all of the '##-cones?
So of course, I don't get the 14 hrs (I get 6 hrs at most) and it does transfer. 6hrs at most.
Not good for flash photography. It does has a combination of chemical and mineral sunscreens.

I guess I'm one of the few that doesn't like this foundation and of course, I won't repurchase. It just does not live up to its claims, I have to use many other products to make it last longer. This product is average at most and for the $59 tag, hell, I go to the drugstore and buy something cheaper that offers better results.

RATING: 2.5/5 (I would've given it a 3 but being that it is so pricey...)
