On Thursday, November 19, 2009, New York City singer/songwriter Lucy Kaplansky will perform her new single “Life Threads,” inspired by the new fragrance collection by La Prairie. Lucy has been called “a truly gifted performer” by the New Yorker.

This is a free performance open to the public.  It will take place at:  Bway Cosmetics Floor, Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, 1000 Third Avenue, New York, N. Y. 10022 from 5-7 pm.

Beth and I were on the Red Carpet last night at the Highlands in Hollywood meeting some of the most amazing forces behind the film industry.  Producers, directors, editors, special effects, etc. who are never in the foreground but without their incredible dedication and talent there wouldn’t be a film industry worth talking about!

Last night was a celebration for all those responsible for adding the key ingredients to a film and was hosted by Hamilton Watches and Movieline.Com. Hamilton Watches have been featured in films since 1951 and have been seen in over 300 movies since then.  Movieline the insiders magazine that dominated the 90’s is back as Movieline.com, the totally addictive online entertainment portal and hotter than ever.  There were several actors presenting the awards and the positive energy was flowing…Beth and I got to meet several of them…Check it out...

Film Icon Tippi Hedren and Te-see on The Red Carpet

All we can say is WOW!!!  What a beautiful lady.  Tippi Hedren was presenting an award to Costume Designer Ann Roth.   OMG!!!!!!!!!!  They couldn’t have picked a better actress for the presentation.  The Bender Sisters uncovered that Tippi is a beauty junkie too which made it easy to connect to this beautiful film icon.  She has been blessed with long full lashes so it’s all about mascara for her.  Beth asked her what her favorite mascara was and she responded…”Loreal & Covergirl.” Tippi spends most of her time at the Shambala Preserve.

Sally Menke was honored last night with a “Lifetime Achievement” Award for Special Effects Editor. Sally has worked with Quentin Tarantino since 1992 and has a very long resume with other directors as well.  Her husband Dean Parisot directed Fun With Dick & Jane, Galaxy Quest, and Home Fries just to mention a few.  Such a nice family!  It was so great to see a woman get recognized for her abilities behind the camera.  Yay, Sally…You go girl!!!

Rick Yune and Te-see

Another presenter for the night was Rick Yune from “The Fast and The Furious,” and soon to be released “Ninja Assassin.” He was presenting to Production Designer John Myhre. The Sisters found Rick extremely charming, friendly and boy did he have gorgeous skin!  This Mongolian born hunk was wearing a suit designed by Francesco Smalto.  (His PR gal Lana told us that she credits her beautiful skin to drinking cognac by Ludacris)  LOL…but it’s true:)

What a doll!!!  These 2 New Yorkers just loved Zoe Saldana originally from Astoria, Queens.  She was a presenter as well.  One of my favorite people on the Red Carpet.  So full of life and comfortable in her own skin.  Zoe told the sisters that the one beauty item she can not live without is carmex.

Harvey Lowry, Te-see & Todd Tucker from Drac Studios

These 2 handsome fellas have a very impressive resume.   Harvey Lowry & Todd Tucker from Drac Studios were presented with an award for makeup effects.  Not to mention the 4 Academy Awards they’ve already won for their extraordinary work!  Their site will blow you away!!! Beth and I were personally invited by the boys to tour their studio.  We can’t wait…:)

Lawrence Bender

And last but not least The Bender Sisters got to meet the infamous producer Lawrence Bender. He has been in partnership with Quentin Tarantino since 1991 and was receiving an award for “Inglourious Basterds.” When we told him our last name he thought we were kidding just to get on his good side…LOL…(not that there’s a bad side)…He prefers suits by Prada & Armani…a man with simple but classic taste…

Other presenters included:  Diane Kruger, Zooey Deschanel, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jason Bateman, Anna Kendrick, Nikki Reed.

So, there you have it…Congrats to all that were awarded last night for their achievements in this crazy town we call “Hollywood” that we can’t live without:)

The return of the “thigh high” boot is back in girls.  That’s right…this fashion statement was quite popular over a decade ago…“dang, what did I do with my Kenneth Cole black suede boots…?  Oh, yeah…foot got too big after 2 kids”…bummer:(

Now that leggings have returned in full swing it’s a great combination.  They’ve taken the best fashions from the 80’s & 90’s to create a more stylish fashion sandwich…Just be careful girls…sometimes this combo might make the upper part of your outfit look  a bit overwhelming.  This style is not always so fabulous on all shapes.  Unfortunately, it’s most complimentary on slimmer to small-medium figures.  The good news for the more full figured gals is that you too can pull this style off when you wear a loose fitting top that hangs just above or below the knees.  Then slap on your thigh high boots and you’re good to go!

If you happen to live in colder climates I would suggest a hip stylish looking coat to throw on for warmth.

Ladies, have you ever had one of those nights where you had too much fun, and then woke up the following morning to tired eyes that paid the party price??

Leighton Meester was all eyes at a recent benefit for the New York Public Library. Aside from her stunning dress, a sophisticated, sleek take on dark smudgy eyes was the look created for the red carpet event. With just a hint of glitter and shimmer to bring out the beautiful shape of Leighton’s eyes.

To get Leighton’s look we asked our beauty expert, and creator of the Get in Line Smoky Eye and Stencil Kit to give us her tips on how to create. “This is such a beautiful look on and off the red carpet, and yes ladies you can do it yourself.” To do, start by rimming the eyes with a waterproof black liner like benefit’s BADGal in black, next using a metallic plum shadow apply with a medium size eyeshadow brush into the crease, but not too far above. Use a smoky eye stencil if you are unsure of the shape and placement.

With a slightly fuller brush, sweep a shimmery cobalt blue or blue-violet powder across the entire lid for a faded effect, and sweep along the bottom lashline as well. Curling your lashes will add a touch of glamour, and finish with two generous coats of black mascara. “I have been loving Maybelline’s Pulse Perfection Mascara. Each time I use it, I am amazed at how stunning it makes the lashes look”.

Beth and I just got back from the most fun filled Celebrity event hosted by Asics & Hello Kitty to celebrate the 35th anniversary of Hello Kitty one of my favorite all time characters…The room was filled with laughter, good food, drinks, sneakers and fabulous music by DJ Cobra that you couldn’t help but shake your booty too…

There were about 5 new designs to celebrate Hello Kitty’s 35th Anniversary and all of the guests couldn’t decide which design they liked best…including “The Sisters.”

Robert was kind enough to hold “Kitty” for the photo.  He preferred the black & gold design (above photo) while his girlfriend Danielle picked the pink girlie design that Beth and I liked.  Robert La Sardo can be seen on “Nip Tuck” Season 6 and soon to be released “Wrath of Cain.”  What a great guy!!!  Originally from Brooklyn, New York.  As you can imagine the 3 of us New Yorkers bonded immediately…

Why not get a head start this Holiday season with gorgeous looks for any occasion. Don’t get left behind without the perfect tools for creating these sexy looks, like sultry smoky eyes seen here on Jennifer Lopez.

At the premiere of Michael Jackson’s This is It in Los Angeles, Jennifer went for a super-sized smoky eye with perfectly applied silver, navy, and plum shadows, but in our opinion, it was her eyeliner that got the BSW thumbs up! To make sure your eyeliner doesn’t budge, choose a creamy black pencil like benefits BADGal Eyeliner in black. It’s waterproof, goes on with ease, and will stay on for hours.

Apply along your lashline working from the outer corner towards the center of eye and tapering as you get to the inner lid.
