Sedona is known for its stunning array of red sandstone formations called the Red Rocks of Sedona. The red rock landscape is visible from anywhere in town. The rock formation glows in orange and red during sunrise and sunset, forming a breathtaking backdrop for Sedona. There are hundreds of hiking and mountain biking trails in Sedona. Some notable hike trails here are Broken Arrow, Bell Rock, Soldier’s Pass, Devil’s Bridge and Oak Creek Crossing. Try the steeper Cathedral Rock if you look for a more challenging task. Besides, be sure to pay a visit to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a Roman Catholic chapel built into the red rock formation.

Siena is famous for its medieval cityscape and is one of Italy’s most visited tourist attractions. In fact, the historic centre of Siena has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. One of the main sights in this medieval city is the Duomo or the Cathedral of Siena, a black and white cathedral of Italian Romanesque Gothic architecture. Another architecture jewel here is the Piazza del Campo, a shell shaped town square at the centre of the city. The Piazza del Campo is also the racetrack for the Palio di Siena, a horse race held twice yearly in Siena. Other main sights include the Palazzo Pubblico and the Pinacoteca, just to name a few.

Myrtle Beach offers endless end of white sand beach called the Grand Strand. The beach is more than 60 miles long, beginning from Little River and ends at Winyah Bay. Myrtle Beach is home to numerous theme parks, such as Myrtle Waves and Family Kingdom Amusement Park, just to name a few. There is also an aquarium, numerous restaurants offering good food and a number of shopping complexes. As for me, I would prefer to catch some live music at Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, which has been ranked as the country’s number 3 boardwalk by National Geographic. For golf enthusiasts, there are over 250 golf courses in and around Myrtle Beach, making it the “Golf Capital of the World”.

Bruges is a city located in the northwest of Belgium in the Flemish region of the country. Dutch is the official language here. Canals encircle Bruges. Thus, Bruges is sometimes referred to as the “Venice of the North”.

Bruges is known for keeping intact most of its medieval architecture. The Historic Centre of Bruges has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000. One of its many notable medieval buildings is the Church of Our Lady, whose tower reaches 122.3 meters in height, making it the second tallest brickwork tower in the world. However, the most celebrated art treasure of the church is a white marble sculpture of the Madonna and Child created by Michelangelo around 1504. Besides, one should also not miss out on the Belfry of Bruges, a medieval bell tower which has become one of Bruges’s most prominent symbols.

Bora Bora or better known as “Pora Pora” means “First Born” in the Tahitian language. Bora Bora is a volcanic island in the Society Islands archipelago of French Polynesia. The island is located some 230 kilometers northwest of Papeete, Tahiti which is the capital of French Polynesia. The only way to get in Bora Bora is by plane from Papeete and a few other islands of French Polynesia.

The island of Bora Bora is surrounded by a lagoon and a barrier reef, making it a perfect spot for snorkeling and scuba diving. One can also swim at Matira Beach, the most famous beach on Bora Bora which is located at the southern tip of the main island. In the center of the island are extinct volcanoes, namely Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu. One can hike up these 2 peaks to get panoramic view of the lagoon looking down.

The tourist peak season on the island is during its dry season running from May to October. Avoid going to Bora Bora during these months if you dislike crowd. One special souvenir to bring back home from Bora Bora is black pearls. But do keep in mind that everything on the island is expensive! Prepare to bargain!

The Great Barrier Reef: a kaleidoscopic wonderland of undersea life from the joyously quirky to the astoundingly awesome. Cairns is your town if such wonder is what you seek: a magical gateway to the most abundant adventure Australia has to offer. Choose any compass point you like and you are sure to find beauty, with national parks to the south, the Atherton Tablelands to the west, the reef to the east and ancient rainforest to the north. With cheap flights to Cairns taking off it is now even more of an appealing destination for adventure.

The reef stretches a massive 2000 kilometers and contains the largest coral reef on the planet. There are many ways to explore it, with diving coming in as an obvious first. Colonies of coral come to life under water in a paint-box of different colors, fluorescent fish and the delicate curls of seahorses darting between. This underwater landscape is home to all manner of curious and clownish creatures and a range of colors which are startlingly unique to the reef. If diving seems a bit extreme then snorkeling and glass bottomed boats are other excellent ways of viewing the reef’s vibrant undersea life. Cruising, sailing, kayaking and flightseeing also abound if you are looking for a more relaxed experience. Whichever angle you approach the reef from, it cannot help but look anything short of spectacular.

Exploring Oceans: Great Barrier Reef

A land adventure from Cairns offers equally stunning surprises. The Atherton Tablelands tower 800m high, covering an area the same size as Ireland and competing with the reef in their abundance of wild beauty and color. As it should be with any journey, the beauty of the Tablelands trip is all in the getting there. The Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is the longest in the world, and takes you from Cairns to the attractive market town of Kuranda. Glide like the native birds over pristine rainforest, moving soundlessly over the tree canopy to take in the awesome heights of the Barron Gorge National Park where you should keep your eye out for the iconic Ulysses butterfly. For a journey back to rival even the Skyrail, the Kuranda Scenic Railway offers you passage in the carriage of a historic locomotive with stop offs to take in the sights along the way.

Disembarking from your Skyrail journey at the Smithfield terminal, you will discover an experience which also grapples to be Cairns finest attraction, and is certainly one of the best examples of its kind. Tjapukai is an award-winning Aboriginal Culture Park. Hear the Dreamtime stories of Aboriginal mythology and watch theater shows of Aboriginal dance and song: loads of fun as well as being educational. If you are looking for an insight into Aboriginal history and culture then the park gives an opportunity to really immerse yourself. Tools and hunting methods are shared with visitors in the impressive mock-up camp, and the evening schedule includes a locally sourced banquet as well as a beautifully atmospheric stage show.

The Wave is a sandstone formation located near the Arizona and Utah border on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes on the Colorado Plateau. The Wave is famous among hikers and photographers for its colorful and undulating landscape. Surprisingly, it has yet been designated a national park. The Wave is part of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, administered by the United States federal Bureau of Land Management.

According to scientists, continuing erosion by wind and rain has created this spectacular sandstone landscape since approximately 190 million years ago. The soft sandstone of The Wave is so fragile that one needs to walk carefully to not break the small ridges. The Bureau of Land Management thus only grants 20 permits per day to enter The Wave. Chance of getting an entry permit becomes much more difficult during peak season from March through November each year.

One has to hike from Wire Pass Trailhead approximately 5 kilometers across open desert to reach The Wave. Temperature in The Wave can climb to around 38 degree Celsius in the summer, so it is best to start hiking early in the morning.
