I can't believe how LOOONG it has been since my last post. I have started a new job working 3rd shift, so my time crafting is very limited especially with it being the holiday season. I get about 5 hours of sleep and it seems to suit me fine. I thought I would have a tough time getting adjusted to a new schedule since I am an early bird, but adjusting has been a breeze. I had a wonderful 4 day weekend and managed to finish this layout for my Etsy Shop.

I was so busy last week, I didn't get much accomplished in the world of scrapbooking. So I wanted to get this week off to a fresh creative start. This layout is a special order for a little cutie pie. When my customer sent the photo she wanted to use, I fell in love with him. So did my girls! Now I am all caught up with my special orders and I will be working on some birthday layouts over the next few days.

Is it my imagination or is everyone that I know pregnant??? All I can say is I am jealous! Not the pregnancy part, I could totally skip that, LOL! My sister tells me I should move back home and run daycare again and with so many of our friends here having babies, it almost makes want to start my daycare back up now. Almost though, when I really start to mull it over in my head, I think of the long hours, chaotic schedules...the list goes on an on. Mark is now back at work, yippee! I am now on the job hunt, looking to get out of the house for a while and still work on my computer programming classes. So I'll live out my dreams of having more kids vicariously through everyone else who is pregnant and get it out of my system artistically by creating layouts.

I love, love, love it when I get the opportunity to create a special layout for a momentous occasion. The thrill of being picked as the designer is an honor, but to have the client share the memory with me and to have my layout become the backdrop of their story takes my breath away every time.

Everything went so smoothly yesterday with Mark's port removal. We headed over to the mall in Fort Wayne to eat. Mark scarfed down Sbarro's while I had fried rice, kobe beef and spring rolls from Panda Express. It was so delicious, I wanted to go back and ask the lady to wrap up the whole counter of food to go. I tried saving a few bites of the kobe beef for the girls to try when they got home from school but my tummy refused to cooperate! Mark has slept the afternoon away today. He's just a little tender from the surgery. While he slept, I took a break from cleaning and snuck into the studio to create a quick layout. It's from K & Co Jubilee Collection again, love love love it! Hugs & Happiness to all and thank you ladies for all the sweet comments you left on my post yesterday, it does a heart good :)

Lots of little torn paper around the sides and top of layout. I love the dimension it gives.

I created the "beautiful" ticket in Paintshop, printed it on white paper. Using Tim Holtz distress inks, I inked the edges with black soot, sponged the inside with antique linen, scrunched up the ticket and then inked with brush corduroy. And then added some hand made paper flowers using my punches.

Mark has had several follow up dr. appointments recently from all of his chemo and radiation treatments since last Christmas. He is totally cancer free and gets his port out tomorrow morning! Yay! Now we can both get back to work, a regular schedule and feel like normal folks again. (if there is such a thing as normal folks - lol) WOOHOO!

And as if life couldn't get any better, The Short Shop has featured me in Etsy 50 Days 50 States - Indiana treasury list. Be sure to stop in and check out The Short Shop. (I'm doing the happy dance!)

I can't believe October is here already...well, it will be here tomorrow. Kaylani has been attending cosmetolgoy class at vocational school this year and I am just so proud of her. She was unanimously voted class president of cosmetology class and voted most professional. Here's some photos of her in uniform and cutting Kenzi's hair:

I've been so busy lately, I find myself whispering "slow down" throughout the day. Ever had days like that? (Sometimes I think I am an adrenaline junkie) So I am finally going to take my own advice and slow down just a little bit. Here are some new and simple budget friendly designs for my etsy shop.

I love how the flower arrangements on these pages. A vintage look with the papers and a warm fall look with flowers. It makes me hungry for pumpkin pie and the smell of cinnamon...yes mama is craving food. I have a had a migraine for the last 2 days and it makes me so sick to my stomach, I just don't feel like eating. I look forward to working with more of this paper line from GCD Studios Ella Blue line. Hopefully, I will feel up to scrapping after a bit. Have a beautiful and safe holiday weekend everyone!

School's in session now it is always bittersweet for me. I look forward to a break from what seems like an endless summer of slumber parties with teenagers staying up until the wee hours of the morning but always sad to see them start school. The upside is longer time in the studio to create layouts! Our local craft store already has their Fall and Christmas department up...I love it! After school starts, all I can think about are the holidays just around the corner!

This is a long overdue project for Christy . With my girls being 16 and 13 now, it's so sweet to watch Baby Kendall grow up on Christy's blog. I wonder what my girls would think if their whole entire childhood was recorded on a blog. Guess I'll have to wait and find out when they have grandbabies for me. :)

Cute as a Bug Layout with Baby No-No

This is my brother-in-law's nephew, Baby Noah. Is he not the cutest thing? I could just eat this kid up! My nieces, Jazz and Lil, call him Baby No-No. So when he gets into trouble, will hollering "No-No" prevent him from getting into trouble or will he just keep on trucking right along thinking you are just calling his name? Hmmm...sound like a great psychological experiment!

This paper line is KaiserCraft Jungle Bug Collection. If I had a boy, his whole room would based on these earthy and handsome hues. The caterpillar was created with a sheet of Celebrate Superb from My Mind's Eye So Sophie Collection. You have got to try out the new My Mind's Eye So Sophie Collection. These papers are so thick and have such a lovely texture to them. It was so refreshing to see My Mind's Eye up their game in paper quality while other competitors are cutting back on their quality because of the economy.

And by the way, what is up with all these storms?? I woke up to rain this morning. Which made me think of Friday night when we had a doozy of a storm. Now the sun is shining and I can still hear it rumbling out there. Friday night we had a wicked storm. I was on the phone with my sister and I stepped outside to have a gander at the storm and I see tree limbs, a stroller, a lawn chair, a garbage can and a pet carrier flying down the road towards my driveway. I immediately got off the phone and the girls asked to pray. It's comforting to know that prayer is their first line of defense against fear. After the storm, Kenzi and I went out to look and see if there was any major damage. There was none. And in the sky, was a beautiful rainbow, and when Kaylani finally came outside to look with us, there appeared another rainbow. Kaylani absolutely hates storms. It was as if God had created a rainbow for each of them letting them know that He is always there to answer their prayers. The word "twofold" came to mind, so I hunted up the definition: equal to twice as many or twice as much; double; a twofold increase. I could ponder that definition and it's application to that night's events for days. I finished this Cute as a Bug layout yesterday and I woke up today with Noah's baby pictures on the brain. So is it coincidence that the day I choose to blog about the double rainbow, is the day I choose Baby Noah's picture to scrap. Can you see where this is all going? :)

4th of July

This Bo Bunny Block Party paper collection is perfect for the 4th, birthdays, and other celebrations. Mark is out of town once again. He headed to Illinois for a Euchre game last night with my brother-in-law. So while the boys were playing cards...my sister and I chatted on the phone. I wonder if their ears were burning? Kenzi created cards and Kaylani was having fun setting up her new cell phone which made for a nice and peaceful evening.

I have been busy this week! Sometimes it seems all I do is scrap and cook, but I'm not complaining those are just a few of my favorite things to do. Mark's appetite is back so we've had some really wonderful homemade dinners this week...beef and noodles, lasagna, cheeseburger pie and tonight it's stuffed peppers, au gratin potatoes, veggies and strawberry shortcake for desert. Kenzi rented Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories for the evening. I love Adam Sandler so I hope this one is as good as his other movies. Kaylani's in North Carolina for the week and has been hanging at Myrtle Beach, S.C. (I am so jealous!) She is heading back on Monday and we all miss her. I don't know who misses her most, Kenzi or our fox terrier, Stevie Ray, who had done nothing but mope around the whole time she's been gone. With the cleaning out of the school lockers yesterday, I finally snagged Kaylani's winter formal picture with Kyle. I used the Prima Symphony Blend and they are gorgeous flowers! The next layout is my darling nieces, Lilly and Jasmyn at their dance recital last weekend.

With Kaylani's sweet 16 falling on Memorial Day this year, there's a lot of talk about getting her first job and what she wants to do when she graduates. Next year as a junior, she will be taking cosmetology classes in the morning before her school day begins and she will have her beautician's license when she graduates high school. She thinks it will be a wonderful job to have while she attends college. Up until last year, Kaylani always thought that she would move to L.A. after high school and become famous. But she seems to be settling down and getting serious about what she wants to accomplish in life. Now we've narrowed it down to being a pharmacist or pursuing interior design. So next summer, I am her sending off to the Art Instute's Summer Studio to attend a 5 day course in interior design. Maybe it will her decide if she wants to major or minor in interior design. School is coming to an end (this Friday!) and she brought home some of her artwork. One of the projects was a self portrait and then they had to create their name with items that related to their personality. I totally love the Tea Anyone? Piggie drawing. Just between you and me...it does my heart good knowing she really has other talents besided texting!
