Non solo UK ma anche Italia, più precisamente Cesena con i D-OPERATION DROP nati nel 2010 dall'incontro di quattro studenti universitari, ritrovatisi a condividere la stessa casa e le stesse passioni. Dopo le prime collaborazioni, quasi casuali, la radio universitaria di Cesena (Uniradiocesena) fornisce l' occasione per gettare le basi al progetto attraverso un programma radiofonico serale incentrato sulla musica undergrounud chiamato proprio D-Operation Drop. Da questa esperienza il progetto prende ufficiallmente vita diventando completamente indipendente, staccandosi dalla radio e iniziando a darsi nuovi obiettivi quali la produzione, il dj' ing e vj' ing. Freschi di release sull'inglese TDM Recs, anche loro faranno parte dell'equipaggio!

Alla carica del duo inglese si aggiungeranno poi il calore e le molle dei locals della SOLID CREW. Partiti ad ottobre con i party all'Arterìa hanno scosso la città nei giovedì a base di basslines e "good DJs on the turntables". Poi è arrivato l'astronauta e nulla fu più uguale a prima. BPM: How, when and why did you became involved with electronic and/or dance music? What do you care for the most, "and" or the "or", and why?

: Since when I was a kid, I loved electronic music and I always found myself wandering between genres and sub-genres. While exploring rap, easy listening electronic music and drum'n'bass, I had found my way into dubstep music, whilst I was focusing my efforts onto producing music rather than graffiti/writing art. This is how I have release myself and this is the way I express myself, and I have fun too.
I've got to thank people like Killeralien, Aeph, Ak0pian & Altered Beats since they teached me the basics and I'm thankful for hours and hours of tips and audio engineering knowledge.
"Electronic" and/or "Dance"? Nor the "and" or the "or" would be prevailing, since I shock out when its time to brock out but I love as well being creeped out by sounds when its a merely listening experience

BPM: Your current inspiration, in a single word.

Mouch: Mhhhh

BPM: Harder and harder, why that word?

Mouch: Its a matter of too many forms and sources of inspiration. The contemporary musical chaos, the fact everyday we got 400 new producers, the new experimental styles, my girlfriend, my friends, my "mind-trips" in my head and everyday life. If everything has to come together, "Mhhhh" is the result!

BPM: So if that word is forever deleted, you have to replace it with a tune, yours or not. What it would be?

Mouch: One of my tunes? Not. Maybe 30 seconds each, tune fi tune.
I think there's a tune which could replace my feelings about "Mhhhh", and only thing I can say its not a dubstep one. I won't say who made it and I want only few people to know about it. I'm jealous about music I like, its very time-consuming and blood and sweat to look for new good fresh underground music.
By the way, "Acquatic Family Affair" by 2562, sends me in outer space.

BPM: MSSV RSPCT, you've come a long way, but where do you want to go?

Mouch: "MSSV RSPCT" Loool! I don't know where I'm going, I do my own thang... in Italy we say "who lives shall see" and by the way, no fear.

BPM: You had one vinyl release recently, did you enjoy that? Why don't you set up your own label? (WHICH WOULD BE SIIIIIIICK!)

Mouch: Who would not enjoy being released on vinyl? By the way its a collab between myself and my friend Dubtek from Seattle (on Paradise Lost US - Dubtek EP [PL010]), his debut EP. It's the only one so far, but things are moving forward.. hopes high!
By the way, vinyl physicality is something rare, its about your music acquiring a determinate shape and you can even feel it in your hands... a really few things give that much satisfaction.
Even if the EP was not strictly mine!
My label? I'd love that but no, I would run out of time. That said, I'm very focused on the whole scene and on the ways it works, so I'd know who to address before many others!

BPM: I feel honoured when I think at my tune which you remixed (crazily, the people at that night at Link feat. Pinch might remember :ooo)
When will it be my turn? I've asked you a fkin million times. But now, there's no escape since this is a public place HAHA! Gotta come and get you from your own home?

Mouch: Firstly, remixing Ital Wub was something I had really enjoyed and I had so much fun doing it... that "haunted house" pad sound nailed it!

BPM: Come quando e perchè ti interessi di musica dance e/o elettronica? Vale più la e o la o? E perchè?  

Sono interessato alla musica elettronica fin da piccolissimo, ho sempre curiosato tra i vari generi e sottogeneri. Dopo aver esplorato a fondo il rap, l'elettronica più easy listening e la drum'n bass, mi sono dedicato alla dubstep.  In seguito a certe vicende legate all'ambiente del writing (graffiti), ho focalizzato le mie energie sulla produzione musicale. Mi esprimo e mi sfogo smanettando con i suoni, e mi diverto pure. In questo campo ho avuto la fortuna di avere come maestri gente come Aeph, Killeralien, Ak0pian e gli Altered Beats, e li ringrazio per le ore passate a spiegarmi tips e teorie audio/ingegneristiche. 
Dance e/o elettronica? Non prevale nè la "e" nè la "o", mi piace ballare come un cretino quando la piega è dance e mi piace ascoltare e farmi assecondare dai suoni quando si tratta di elettronica da puro ascolto.  

BPM: Riassumi in una singola parola la tua ispirazione del momento.  

Mhhhh.  

BPM: Sempre più difficile, perchè quella determinata parola?

Si tratta di un "Mhhhh" che riflette svariate fonti di ispirazione. Il caos musicale contemporaneo, il fatto che ogni giorno ci siano almeno 400 nuovi producers, le nuove correnti sperimentali, la mia ragazza, i miei amici, i trip che ho in testa e le situazioni che vivo. Se metto tutto insieme mi viene da dire "Mhhhh"!  

BPM: Ancora più difficile, quella parola viene cancellata. Può rappresentarla un pezzo, tuo o altrui, che la rappresenti. Qual è?  

Un pezzo mio no, magari tutti quelli che ho fatto, ascoltati 30 secondi ognuno in sequenza. Di pezzi altrui che calzano a pennello ne avrei uno, non è dubstep ma non dico di chi/cosa si tratta perchè voglio che lo conosca meno gente possibile. Sono geloso della musica che ascolto. Ed anche perchè perdo un sacco di tempo e sudo sangue per trovare robe nuove, ricercate e underground.  Comunque nell'ultimo periodo "Aquatic Family Affair" di 2562 mi manda dall'altra parte.  

BPM: MSSV Rspct, sei giunto fin qui. Dove vuoi arrivare?  

Ahah! MSSV RSPCT! Non so dove sto andando, faccio la mia cosa..chi vivrà vedrà e comunque mai paura.  

BPM: Dopo il primo vinile ci hai preso gusto? Perchè non apri una tua label? (SPACCHEREBBE TUTTO!)

Chi non ci prende gusto dopo il primo vinile? Comunque puntualizzo che si tratta di una collaborazione che ho fatto col mio amico Dubtek di Seattle (sotto Paradise Lost US - Dubtek EP [PL010]) per il suo EP di debutto sotto Paradise Lost. E' l'unico pezzo che ho su vinile al momento, anche se altre cose si stanno muovendo proprio ora..speriamo bene! Comunque la concretezza del vinile è una cosa rara, è la tua musica che prende una forma e puoi toccarla..poche cose danno così soddisfazione.  Pure se l'EP non è il tuo! Una mia label? Mi piacerebbe ma no, non avrei tempo anche per questo. Anche se sono un attentissimo osservatore della scena e saprei verso chi indirizzarmi prima di molti altri!  

BPM: Ho avuto l'onore di essere remixato da te (in un modo pazzesco, il Link post-Pinch dell'ottobre 2010 forse ricorda :ooo)  Quando tocca a me? Te l'ho già chiesto mille volte. Ora te lo faccio ridichiarare in pubblica piazza. Ti devo venire a prendere a casa?  

Premetto che fare il remix di Ital Wub è stato davvero piacevole e divertente.. quel pad da "casa dei fantasmi" mi intrigava di brutto!  Ad ogni modo, ora sta a te! Ti sto esportando gli stems di Eurasia 1984 [Gamma Audio UK]! Taaaac! Se entro pochi giorni non ti arrivano ti autorizzo a venire a prendermi a casa!

While chillin' with some fresh tunes this morning I stumbled upon something amazing! This tune with that weird name made by two producers in the lot of those people you can try but box in some single known-widely-used keyword. The robots at the buttons go by the name of Killeralien and Eggchan, and both are long-time Bass Pon Mi acquaintances, because their sounds are simply wild! It was about time, with Eggchan signing tunes on Killeralien's label Gamma Audio, this evil combo had to happen! The man with the K which wants humankind to survive by killing extraterrestrials has perfected the art of making fresh, cold as fuck, synthetic and warped sounds while the E has been researching a lot how to give new life to those old organic sounds sampled from old instruments. I'd just say listen and judge for yourself, you may not like this, but you can't say this is something you had heard yet. Nuff respect for the producers demolishing barriers like this!!!

Here at Bass Pon Mi I always took pride of the fact I'm always one of the firstest getting new Robbing Hood from time to time. This unstoppable badman based somewhere out in the Aland Islands can't literally ever stop himself breaking boundaries, experimenting with fresh drum signatures and literally from listening to his music you can tell this man can't get any sleep until he has got some SOUND NEVER HEARD. There's a lot of talk about certain "artists" doing this and that, talking about how they drew "inspiration" from "rock" even, WTF?!? Too much bullshit, only medicine is people like Robbing Hood, which are keeping on tweaking the fuck out of it! His latest work, Highlife LP, just released as I type is the n-th slap in your face, the only medicine about this word-dependent music industry of today. Err, these are words tho, contradiction. SO LET'S FUCK ABOUT!

"Perciflage" is a tune which Cosmin TRG could have made if he didn't fall in love with Berlin and stopped dancing, "Hound Dub" could have been made by Mala if he was a funnier person, "Irksome" and "Electricity Bored" are the missing tunes from the first 2562's album, "Racid" is what Coki should have been came out (or wanted to) with that weird release on Tempa.

Seriously, in the end, I'm only showcasing this music I really love and support and if you're up for some serious action in the dancefloor sounds exploration and experimentation, you should definitely BAG THIS! Yes I'm trying hard to tell you this is OUTRAGEOUSLY GOOD!

But beware, this is not like some Pandora's Box of oldschool memories, nah! 2 minutes in, and you'll be launched fast forward 3011 year of Altered Native's BOOMING bass hard hitting drums and never-wrong grooves! Danny is like a catalyst of everything great about house music, tunes like "Galactic" are simply full of ear-sweetness which you cant resist but brrrrrock out! I can't also help but think how warm thick and aggressive straight-in-yo-balls this album is sounding, Danny has really nailed it with every tune. It's been such at blast just being and living what had been happening in Pula, HR this year!!! If you still don't know what's Outlook Festival or know what it's all about but still haven't experienced it, you've been missing lifetime worth memories!!!

Myself I played in the Ballroom and as soon as I started a huge rainfall came down yet the vibes weren't destroyed. Nuff respect and much much love to the warriors which still kept skanking down there especially to my girlfriend Chiara (which took a few pics which will be posted up, if her camera hasn't been melt by water and mud), Francis aka TANKA, Luca Gridelli aka ZEEMO, and Honnez from the RVTK Sudtirol based crew. Biggest ups also to Phonetics which played the sickest set just before me, the crowd was crazy and those belgians really know how to have a good time! Big up those of yours which kept reppin' the BALLROOM crew!

Quiter, smoother feelings, with a special Natty D feature, are to be found on Speakah Production's one. Then we got Digikal Roots which is the one which relies more on sub-bass power, one to put the soundsystem to some heavy duty test. Caballo & Neki's takes the tune in some other territories, if you happen to like Cumbiatronmoombahcherrio riddims, you will love this. Monolow's remix really stands out, and feels like the most dancefloor-friendly. Surely good to fit into dubstep sets as well, has got a fast-paced 4x4 drum patterns foundation. Sounds like what producers like South Rakkas Crew could do with the original tune! DUTTY! Then last but not least, the CRAZIEST remix of them all, by Bruno Tanmateos, getting an ORCHESTRAL (!) version of the original reggae tune done. Strings, Brass, Orchestral Percussions, it has got'em all, unbelievable, check for yourself!

Outlaw Producer, Trouble, Discord, Cixxx J - DBX016

Funky, stripped-down-to-the-core, bass heavy as usual, Dbox sets the summer on with this 3-tracker featuring an international array of artists: Outlaw Producer & Trouble from Austin, TX (USA), Discord from Cardiff (UK) and Cixxx J on the remix duties (IT). Moody and warm, "Yours or Mine" is Discord's venture into soundsystem music for sunny days, with its precise and drumming "in contrappunto" with the heavy sub-bassline. "Flight Speed" by the Texas based duo Outlaw Producer & Trouble slows down the pace and adds even more groove to the lot, and sends us into chilled-out hyper-spaces with a tune which can sit in a different array of DJ sets: house, techno, (post)dubstep and what not! All about a dark smokers room, filled with subwoofers, its also "Enter 201", offered as a freebie !!! Goli & Ashburner are versatile musicians, as "Let u go" demonstrates: vaguely house/bassline inspired, definitely funky, with their usual load of sub bass to make it ready for every kind of DJ set. Noto anche come Iron Soul e Droid, Kromestar è fra i più grandi nomi della scena Dubstep odierna, con alle spalle innumerevoli produzioni rilasciate dalle etichette più rinomate nel genere come Get Darker, Deep Medi Musik, Dubstars, Southside, F1 e molte altre, nonchè la propria label che porta il suo nome.

Dopo il successo della scorsa edizione che vide la presenza di DJ Hatcha sul palco del Link saliranno Ellesolo, Dropfellas a rappresentare DubstepItalia, Monolow e Cixxx J in veste di artisti di DBOX, i Numa Crew supercrew affermatissima a livello internazionale grazie alle loro produzioni di successo, Kromestar, artista di punta della scena inglese grazie al suo personalissimo ed inconfondibile stile e Goli&Ashburner, considerati tra i migliori 'upcomer' della scena internazionale che coglieranno l'occasione per presentare il loro ultimo EP in uscita appunto su DBox rec., il tutto accompagnato da un maestro di cerimonia come Mc Zub della Link dnb Arena.

Nella Dnb Breakbeat Area (hosted by Bologna Underground Movement) si avvicenderanno alcuni dei rappresentanti più attivi dell'urban music bolognese.

Dbox kills 2010 by showcasing a new talent found out there! Monolow been producing diverse styles then approached dubstep and future garage, only to further expand his already vast sonic palette: expect R'n'B influences and vocals (featuring the canadian poet and singer Effluence), analog and digital sounds, lush pads and the hardest freshest wobbles around, all melt together with a solidity which is hard to find nowadays. Artist Bio:
Monolow is the new production alias of Mat, the in-house Dbox Records audio engineer. He's a DJ/Producer and Pro Audio teacher based in northern Italy. Monolow is the melting point of dub, garage, spoken words, funky and house which results in a new fresh blend of 140 bpm bass music, or if you prefer, dubstep! His past projects as Matt&Ale seen releases and collaborations with Autist Records, Soulmanmusic, Documenti Sonori Records, No Logik Records and more (Minimal Techno, Deep House, Tech-House). He joined the Dbox Records Music Group team in September as in-house audio engineerand he's going to unleash more fiyah, and to demonstrate there are spaces and not barriers between the sounds and styles, so stay tuned!!!

BUM - Bologna Underground Movement nasce nel Maggio 2009 e si ritiene la risposta alle necessità di far emergere una autentica cultura underground, traendo ispirazione dalle grandi città teatro di un background musicale quali Londra, Berlino, Bristol ed innumerevoli altre.
Racchiuse sotto il nome di BUM collaborano molteplici e differenti realtà che condividono il medesimo progetto. Ai ‘Bumers’ di nascita si sono aggiunti collaboratori stabili quali collettivi di dj’s, organizzatori di festival ed etichette discografiche.
BUM si propone di creare una reale scena bolognese indipendente dalle mode importate e si pone l'obiettivo di coltivare un vivaio artistico qual quale attingere con l'unico scopo di promuovere musica e arte attraverso la realizzazione di concerti ed eventi.
BUM vuole diffondere una cultura musicale partendo dal basso cosicché rinasca a Bologna, come in Italia, un movimento artistico/musicale e organizzativo che sproni a far riemergere un fervore culturale, non morto, solo assopito.

DBOX RECORDS

Dbox Records Music group, etichetta Bolognese fondata nel 2008 da Geeno Bronx degli Hallucinator e DJ Cocco della Link Dnb Arena. Il suono DBox si muove dalla DubStep alla drum and bass, passando dal garage, dub e break.
Il primo progetto di Dbox è "Italian Bassline", l'unica e la prima compilation dedicata alla scena dnb italiana, che prosegue nel solco tracciato originariamente dalla Afun Recordings di Cocco, Afghan e Edo nel 1999. Le dodici tunes più di successo della serie vengono rilasciate nuovamente nell'estate del 2009, riscuotendo un positivo consenso da pubblico, critica e mercato. In particolare, il quarto volume viene promosso con una serie di party per tutta la penisola, co-prodotti dalla label stessa. Nel frattempo, i nuovi suoni del dubstep trovano ragion d'essere anche in Italia e Dbox risponde con un podcast che vede DJ Foster di SubFM ai controlli e scala le classifiche di mixcloud e con tre releases (The Dub Box Vol.1 & 2, DJ Met - Gangsta); "Comin' from far" di De Niro raggiunge la top20 di Junodownload e ci rimane per tre settimane, complice anche l'inclusione della traccia nel podcast ufficiale dello store. Contemporaneamente vengono rilasciati tre EP di artisti drum'n'bass, stavolta non solo italiani: Qmare, Jazzatron e Atomik Tags. Nel 2010 la Dbox in partnership con le maggiori crew della scena organizza una serie di eventi degni di nota nella città di Bologna: Noisia (Split the Atom Tour) + Hallucinator, IDM3, DJ Hype e cura il primo party italiano dell’Outlook Festival, ospite DJ Hatcha. Durante questo periodo si aggiungono allo staff dell’etichetta due nuovi elementi: Cixxx J, DJ/Producer/Radio host che entra in forze nell’A&R department implementando il raggio d'azione della label e Matt per la sezione post-production della label.

Dj T(H)ac
Hulus Thaci aka Dj Th(a)c nasce a Tirana nel 1990. Rinasce poi nel 2009 a Bologna dove dopo aver approdato alla musica Dube Dubstep si lascia travolgere dall'energia della Drum and Bass e il suo cuore comincia a battere 180 bpm. Da una parte si orienta a sonorita più calde come il Ragga-Jungle che lo lega di più alle sue origini Dub e Rggae mentre dalla altra si butta sul Jump Up e Neurofunk spinto invece dal passato punk e hard core più oscuro che non lo abbandona mai. Dj emergente della scena Bolognese che oltre ad essersi mosso nell'ultimo anno tra le dancefloors ha anche cominciato a produrre musica personale con progetti ancora da definire per il futuro.

Sic
Dopo un periodo di incubazione autodidatta SIC nasce ufficiosamente come progetto nel 2007. Si evolve grazie alla contaminazione e assimilazione di nuovi stimoli musicali, che portano alla produzione di brani e concept di diversa natura e atmosfera, sfruttando sia strumenti analogici che digitali.
Bologna e i suoi battiti sono stati il buon terreno per accrescere le varie conoscenze musico-tecniche personali e coltivare nuovi stimoli sonori grazie anche alla collaborazione con varie realtà della zona e non.Che si tratti di basse frequenze o alte distorsioni elettriche i suoi Live sono in costante ricerca di un impatto sempre più personale quanto evolutivo.

SuB Dual
Mike aka Sub Dual si avvicina alla musica all’età di 8 anni, a 14 fonda la sua prima band e da quel momento è un susseguirsi di progetti che lo porteranno dal punk e lo ska-core fino al cross-over e il post-hardcore. A 18 anni inizia a risentire delle prime influenze elettroniche che lo porteranno ad elaborare composizioni sperimentali ed alla scoperta di questo nuovo mondo sonoro.
Nel 2008, insieme a SIC, fonda l’eclettico progetto KTS al quale si unirà presto anche Mat in qualità di bassista. Il progetto fonde basi e batterie elettroniche a voce, chitarra e basso in una continua ricerca e sperimentazione sonora, ribadendo un concetto di musica in continuo divenire e movimento.
Egli continua la sua produzione musicale che lo avvicinerà sempre di più a sonorità neurofunk, techstep, dubstep, breakbeat e ambient.
Nel 2009 è membro fondante di BUM, movimento che lo porterà a seguire da vicino la scena bolognese e ad esibirsi in performance live e dj set assieme a SIC (BumBros) e agli altri artisti di BUM.
Nel 2010, assieme a Deeph, inizia un nuovo progetto live.

Mr.Wah
Un concentrato di energia, dinamismo e carattere che solo il "WAH", dei bassoni wobble, può darti! Ed ecco che il personaggio di Mr Wah prende forma avvolto da un'aura quasi mistica di vibrazioni al limite delle basse frequenze. Luke comincia il suo iter musicale come Akino nella musica Tekno, dilettandosi nell'arrangiamento di grooves intensi e ad assetto variabile. Poco dopo scopre l'atmosfera armoniosa dei party psytrance e da quel momento muta in artista goa concentrandosi sui suoni incalzanti e taglienti della darkpsy. Nel 2009 conosce SubDual e Sic da cui viene addomesticato e portato sulla retta via della BUM family. Poco distante risulta essere la conversione alla dubstep. Da qui la metamorfosi in Mr.Wah che non contento della sola dubstep e contraddistinto da un indubbia polivalenza musicale adotta anche le cuginette drum'n bass e jumpup per ampliare le sue alchimie sonore.
Il suo motto..? Definitely: "Be There or Be Square" !!!

‘Wormhole – Ellesolo – Cixx’
Tutti e tre i dj’s sono legati al mondo della bass culture, ognuno dei quali però affascinato da un differente background.
Wormhole: è quello fra i tre più legato a sonorità tendenti alla techno (quella fatta bene tipo underground resistance) i suoi set sono un ponte tra ciò che è stato e ciò che sarà.
Ellesolo: invece è la più soft tra i tre. Delay, bassi gommosi, rullanti infiniti. La sua visone della dubstep è quella più sexy.
Cixxx J: invece picchia duro. E' un dj che con un occhio guarda i piatti e con l'altro la pista. Quando si incendia lui, si incendiano anche le dancefloor. Ha alle spalle diverse release su vinile, CD e digitale, commerciale e non. Previsto per fine settembre un 4 tracce sulla Kursed di Austin, TX (USA) e a fine anno il debutto sulla lunga distanza dell’album, in uscita sulla Froth’n di Los Angeles. Fa inoltre parte della bolognese Dbox, team A&R.
Il trio collabora con molteplici realtà radiofoniche, quali: Radio Kairos, Radio Città del Capo.

Monolow
(aka Matt) è il risultato di un percorso, è la voglia di dare corso effettivo a molteplici ispirazioni che in questo progetto trovano finalmente una convergenza. Dub, garage, dubstep, spoken words, funky e house sono gli ingredienti sonici costitutivi. Monolow è comunque sempre in divenire, apertura a nuove frequenze: si segnalano le collaborazioni con DJ Cocco (Monolow & Cocco, U Kuci Project) e Effluence, poetessa black canadese che vedranno la luce sotto forma di album ed EP, in uscita sulla propria label DBox Records.

Pandro
Di origini sarde ma stabilmente a Bologna già da qualche anno, Pandro è vj che ama sperimentare visual dall'impatto profondo e dai toni cromatici alienanti.
Predilige l'utilizzo di immagini in bianco e nero, ma non disdegna varianti variopinte da colori sgargianti come il verde acido.
Pandro è alla costante ricerca di una composizione visual ancora più personale e costante.

Kado
Ha 22 anni. Da quattro anni vive a Bologna dove si è laureato presso il Corso di Laurea in Studi Cinematografici (DAMS). Ora sta frequentando il primo anno del corso di specialistica in Cinema, Televisione e Produzione Multimediale.
Il suo scopo è di mostrare frammenti di cinema concettuale, sperimentale e del cinema delle origini, in bianco e nero, a un vasto pubblico che di solito poco apprezza e conosce. L'immagine, mostrata in un contesto e spazio non convenzionalmente cinematografico, "decinematizzato", acquista una carica estetica estremamente potente.
Allo stesso tempo lavora su home-made loops e allo sviluppo di processi di ricerca e decontestualizzazione del materiale visivo contemporaneo.
Ha performato per importati eventi come Dubstep Warz 2010 a Tokyo, International Drum'n'Bass Meeting a Rimini, Robot a Bologna, Live Performers Meeting a Roma, Jungle Fever a Catania e diviso la console con dj come Sub Focus, Pendulum, Skream, Shy FX, Afrodite, Dillinja, Nero, Noisia, Ed Rush, Concord Dawn, Break e molti molti altri..
Attualmente fà parte della Dbox Records e si occupa del settore visuals del B.U.M.
