Great typography on top of a subtle image. Reminiscent of recent Vampire Weekend artwork it’ll no doubt fit perfectly with the music. Available for pre-order now it’ll be released in October 11th in the UK and released nearly a month earlier stateside on September 14th.

Arcade Fire – The Wilderness Downtown Interactive Video

Fuck me, I’ve seen some cool band websites before but the interactive video The Wilderness Downtown is incredible. You’re asked to enter your home town and away the video fires up. Opening several windows and bringing them onto the screen at the right time to sequence with the video. Not only that but the town you entered in the first instance is displayed in several of the windows as a rotating street view image or google maps’ satellite view with bird flying over it and everything. Absolutely incredible use of html5.

Aphex Twin even makes the crowd creepy

How cool is this? Aphex Twin well known for being a bit weird and forward thinking has started using live facial recognition on the crowd. The result? A massive screen with members of the audiences dancing around like nutters with the classic creepy Aphex Twin faces superimposed on their own. The fact that it doesn’t appear to be working perfectly makes it all the more entertaining and visually arresting.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – History Of Modern

So after fourteen years OMD are back with a new studio album and its an album with the original line up as well. They toured not so long back and I can safely say my wife and I were the youngest people in the audience by about 20 years.

Peter Saville has designed the cover and it compliments earlier covers he designed for the band. There’s also a pretty cool sounding box set accompanying the album of which I can find only one tiny little image.

Note to OMD’s label. Check out this post with decent product shots designed to help sell your overpriced super-fan only products. Although I suppose it is possible it doesn’t exist yet. If thats the case I’ll get some decent shots up here when they do.

The album is out in the UK on September 20th and in the US September 28th. You can only order the boxset through the band’s website but you can pick up the standard album with the cool cover anywhere that sells records.

Peter Gabriel’s recent album came in some truely awesome limited edition packaging. It was designed at Real World by Marc Bessant and includes a USB key in its own laser engraved foam tray, a blood red vinyl with unique artwork, a print of the album cover which is signed and numbered by Gabriel himself, special edition double CD in a special 10 inch case with gloss laminated cover,a production credits panel and a foil blocked Certificate of Authenticity.

All this could be yours for $299 dollars from here. As wonderful as this item is for $299 I want to be able to say I’d put my peepee in the great man’s mouth.
