Armand Van Helden & A-Trak present Duck Sauce – aNYthing music video

A very cool homage to The Jackson 5’s – Dancing Machine. I dare you to try not to laugh at 2m10. The track itself is awesome, as is everything Armand Van Helden and A-Trak do, and the video fits the song perfectly. Some very tight dancing.

I held off posting until mid-week in the hope of finding something else worthy of posting. I’ve found diddly squat with the exception of The Leisure Society so well done them.

Some big bands released some great artwork this week. They don’t quite peak it to the top spot because Mungolian Jetset’s artwork is fantastic (as is the title).

The Baddies album cover captures their punk aesthetic well without treading to far into cliché.

I first saw reference to this album cover in a banner ad where the cut out style didn’t work too well. I’m happy to see that as full size artwork it works well.

Some great illustrative work on the background of this cover from Lynyrd Skynyrd. The logo has also had a bit of a touch up.

The Monster of Folk album cover is awesome. Beautifully illustrated and proportioned.

The Brand New album Daisy is a pretty foreboding cover with that scary ass fox and woodland affair.

I love the way the album title just punches its way across the whole sleeve with the childish doodles in the background.

On one level I like this Alberta Cross artwork and on another I think it’s what happens when you read to many Photoshop tutorials and you’re short of time and imagination. What do you think?

Not the greatest week ever but Muse come forward with a very strong contender for cover of the year – the vibrancy of the image is quite startling. Shame the actual album doesn’t deliver on the promises made by the front (it’s still pretty good). Muse – Resistance

Not the strongest week for album art but the Jamie T artwork is pretty pleasing to the eye.

I love how creatively uncreative it is to essentially rip-off off a style that’s not been used for years. Kudos to the art dept. Mr Wainwright.

Sour – 日々の音色 (Hibi no neiro)

Just spotted this video in my RSS feed and it’s too cute not to share. Shot from the Sour fan base (from around the world) and using only webcams what the directors have orchestrated is truly wonderful.

Sadly the reason it was brought to my attention was through the blog You Thought We Wouldn’t Notice which highlights potential rip-offs. The typical trend is a creative does something truly creative and someone within the ad industry rips it off. Although sometimes its just some punk stealing someone elses t-shirt designs. Still sucks.

Whilst not strictly a music video, I was impressed by Stephen Rose’s direction for this short video for Tom Scott’s new clothing range. It features Thurston Moore on the soundtrack to great effect and makes for a very haunting piece of media.

My verdict is for their first ever music video they’ve done a great job and I’d love to see more.

The Mew artwork appears to the the result of importing a butterfly image into illustrator and pissing about for a bit is by far the most expressive and impressive artwork released this week. Its weird, intriguing and somewhat indecipherable.

The Arctic Monkey’s album artwork looks pretty cool. I’m liking the colour imbalance to give that retro quality all our parents photos have. Has anyone else noticed Alex Turner seems to have morphed into Joseph Gordon-Levitt who has himself morphed into Heath Ledger? No? Just me then.

Susana and the Magical Orchestra combines silhouette (absence of light) with over exposure (abundance of light) to great effect.
