Pulo the Mafia Man

Parker is a year-old pit bull terrier mix who was found as a stray wandering the streets in Baltimore. He was skinny and sad as he had been left outside to fend for himself.

Is that a squirrel?

Parker lives with Nate and Krissy, his awesome foster Mom and Dad, and will stay there until he finds the perfect forever home. They are working on obedience training, and report that he is doing quite well. He spends his days playing with his foster sisters and living under the alias, “Pulo”.

In the words of the great Robert Stack, “If you, or anyone you know has any information that could lead to a forever home for Parker, AKA Pulo, Please visit Recycled Love for more information.”

Ok… so Robert didn’t say exactly that… close enough.

We have a house guest for a little while. Her name is Francine, which has naturally been shortened to “Francie” at home since it’s about a nano-second quicker to pronounce. I do everything too quickly.

Meet Francie Francie:

FRANCINE

Francie was in an accident involving a drug raid, and was shot several times in the face. She has a broken jaw, and damage to one ear. She eats though a feeding tube for now, but with patience and love, Francie should be 100% in no time.

This little girl is such a love bug, without an aggressive shred in her body. She must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time; this shooting was clearly an undeserved act of self-defense.

SNUGGLE BUG PIT BULL WITH UNCLE SEAN

She loves sitting on laps, leaning on legs, or touching pretty much anything that will give her affection (cats and small children included). She’s pretty smart too! She’s picked up on her “potty” etiquette very quickly. No accidents today… knock on wood!

Francie has been a lot of fun to have around over the past week. Watching her progress on a daily basis is a privilege, and worth every minute of the time being spent helping her to recover. She is being treated by the amazing Dr. Bonner at Swan Harbor Animal Hospital, and is under the care of Recycled Love Rescue. She’ll be residing here with her foster siblings until her jaw is healed and her feeding tube is removed. At that point, this little miracle will make such an awesome addition to a deserving family. We love her already and will be so sad to see her go. Except for Bailey, who keeps watching his stock in “attention” decrease as the little girls roll in to his house:

FRANCINE, BAILEY & MINNIE

Check out the new edition of Baltimore Dog Magazine. There’s a terrific story about Maggie the bloodhound called, “And Maggie Makes Five” by Denise Iannatuono, Baltimore Dog Mag editor. I won’t spoil the story, but I will say that after a bizarre and terrifying stay away from home, Maggie is home again, and enjoying all of the comforts of life.

Maggie Lounging at the Office

I connected a few months ago to shoot this story with Denise, and I really enjoyed doing it. Maggie was a bit camera shy, in fact, she tried her hardest to look away quite often! Bailey says sometimes dogs “get afraid of the click-snap noise,” whatever that means. Despite her efforts to elude the camera, we still got some adorable shots.

Metal plates only please, Maggie!

Maggie had a little trauma, and so did her family, but they fought hard for her and won in the end. The story is an uplifting one about the lengths to which people will go for love. Maggie is grateful for sure; she’s enjoying all the comforts of life now. Maggie, it was a pleasure to meet you, and thank you to Baltimore Dog Magazine for the opportunity. Pick up a copy, people. It’s a great article!

Welcome to the new site. I’m looking forward to journaling about my past and future four-legged photoshoots and adventures 2 feet off the ground. I went to photograph Marco Polo, an awesomely loving and boisterous Pit Bull Terrier mix today for Recycled Love Rescue… and he is the sweetest guy. Marco has TONS of energy, so he needs a yard, and maybe some big, rambunctious kids to beat up on him for a few hours a day, but I could tell in the time I spent with him that he is super smart, very lovable and happy! He’s always smiling!

Marco Polo!

This is what his Foster Mom, Melissa has to say about marco:

Marco is a wonderful, goofy, big boy that loves to play and hang out on the couch. He seems to be house-trained and even knows a few tricks (like giving paw). Marco does need structure and stability, he is a big guy who sometimes does not understand his own size. He loves other dogs (but not cats) but I would only recommend him for homes with dogs around his own size as he can be a bit overwhelming for smaller dogs. He is a total love bug, thinks he is a lap dog, and is very obedient.

He has a very loving personality and wants to do nothing but give you kisses and lay on you. He is also great in a crate (barely makes a peep). I think he would make a great dog for any family, though I have not seen him around children. I do think he would not be suitable for very small children right now, though, because he still does not understand his size. All in all, Marco is an awesome dog, who learns fast and just wants to love (just look at that face!).

Marco at Patterson Park
