About us
Baltimore Bicycle Works is a worker-owned and democratically operated, full-service bicycle shop in the Station North neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. We pride ourselves on our expert repairs, our custom bicycle and wheel builds, and fit services. We also offer the best selection of new and used bikes, accessories and parts.

About the Job
We are looking for a full or part time apprentice to join our crew, and become a worker-owner upon the completion of the apprenticeship program. Apprentices work both the retail floor and repair bicycles. We also train for “back of house” tasks including, but not limited to, ordering, media outreach, and finance. If you are excited about getting people excited about bikes, if you have ever felt stifled at work and wish you had greater influence on the organization, if you have a vision for creating a better bike shop and community, this could be your place.

What we’re looking for
Someone who loves bicycles, is excited to work in sales and service, and interested in learning and contributing to all the aspects of running a growing business. Applicants must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, democratic, and collaborative environment with a diverse clientele; able to work both independently and in teams; detail oriented; excited about growing our small business, and Baltimore’s larger bicycle community. Weekend availability, and the ability to lift 40 lbs are also requirements. Ideal candidates have previous industry experience, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Women, people of color, and members of other groups traditionally underrepresented in the bicycle industry are particularly encouraged to apply.

Salary/Benefits

    $11.50/hr starting wage
    Holidays and Vacation
    Health insurance stipend
    Dental and vision plan available
    Paid maternity/paternity leave

This position is designed to prepare workers to become long-term worker-owners of our business, with all the rights and responsibilities that entails.

Please send resume and cover letter to jobs@baltimorebicycleworks.com

Hello friends,

It’s with a heavy heart that we are going to be closed Saturday, July 8th, to attend the funeral service of our dear friend Jeremy Pope. We will not be doing our normal Saturday morning Stoney Run ride. Jeremy exemplified the spirit of the cycling community; he was kind, passionate, and giving. He will be missed by all and never forgotten.
Jeremy Pope was a loved member of our family, still so full of kindness and life, and there are no words to describe the hole his absence will leave in us personally, or in the shop. Jeremy’s openness, warmth, and willingness to give will forever serve as a benchmark for the rest of us to strive for. We miss you; thank you for making us better. RIP
