The inspiration behind this baby shower by  Styled by Connie was the elegance that England has to offer with its “Old World” feel. Since Stewart the soon-to-be father is from Birmingham, England, she wanted to make sure that he was incorporated this into the shower.

Connie the soon-to-be mother has always been fond of Paddington Bear so we decided to use him as an accent piece, since they are having a boy.

The invitation was a boarding pass for Paddington\’s flight to Europe. So adorable for guests to get ready for a travel themed baby shower.

The shower was in hues of white, brown, and pops of blue for baby boy. The parents wanted a clean look, so most of the furniture used was white with a hint of brown in the trunks and paper goods.

Blue was used as an accent in the pillows, invitations and flowers. Instead of a cake, white cupcakes with blue beads were placed on top of a travel suitcase.

A desk was bought into the décor so people would be able to write notes to the parents or baby for Connie and Stewart to read later.

This shower was co-ed so we made sure that it felt like a sophisticated “adult” baby shower. Every guest left with a small basket full of items that reflected what the soon-to-be parents love from England.

Terry is as lovely a person inside as she appears on the outside, so the lovely ladies of 11 Magnolia Lane were thrilled to host this special baby shower for her. As Terry is also an event planner by trade, the party had to be extra special since for a change, she was the guest of honor not the organizer.

As the guest of honor, Amy made her the \”Queen Bee\” for the day! \”Being the mama already to two beautiful boys, she was understandably hoping for a baby girl this time, and for this reason, we wanted to make sure the focus was on her as much as on welcoming baby boy #3.\” Terry is also the Queen Bee in her family of 4 boys (including her hubby), and the bee made for a perfect theme. \”We fussed over her, complete with a tiara and sash for the sweetest Queen Bee we know!\”

Flowers, invitations, table linens etc. were all in the bee yellow, black and white color scheme and for an elegant touch, Amy mixed in damask and polka dots.

\”We also integrated \”B is for Baby\” and \”Bee Sweet\” to make sure her new little one got the welcome he deserves as well.\”

We also made a decoration for the baby’s room at the party. At the time Terry was thinking the room decor would be turquoise and gray, but like you all, I am waiting for the “reveal” to see what she settled on. Going with the rumor at the time, I purchased scrapbook paper in that color scheme. I actually couldn’t find gray chevron so I printed some sheets with the chevron then cut it down into triangles. We asked each guest to write a note to the baby on the back of each pennant, and hopefully she will hang it in his room as a keepsake.

When it came to the baby shower for her dear friend Chelsee, Cara Higgins and her friend Candace had been in planning mode for almost a year after a rocky road to expecting baby girl Scout. But happy to be adding another little lady to their group, they planned a vintage styled Sugar & Spice baby shower for her.

\”Perhaps we had a little too much fun planning this for Chelsee and baby Scout.\”

\”I made cards in Photoshop to match the decorations. Each card had a number on it (one through however many guests you have). As each guest arrived, we asked them to write to baby Scout a piece of advice or words of wisdom or encouragement or a fun quote for the age that coincided with the number on their card. We then sealed them in envelopes for Scout to open each year on that birthday.\”

Oh, and did you catch that diaper bouquet? It\’s not a diaper cake. \”We made a diaper bouquet. And it was awesome!\”

\”I am so excited for Chelsee. All that work and heartache and doctors visits and years of waiting are about to be a distant memory.\”

Congratulations Chelsee! Thanks for sharing with us Cara! We love a beautiful happy ending…or should we say beginning!

Using the Little Red Riding Hood movie starring Amanda Seyfried as inspiration, Johanna from One Sweet Party put together a birthday party and printable set with a woodsy feel and some bright colors. Because it was one of her favorite stories as a kid, designing this party and printable set definitely brought her back in time.

With a theme like this, knowing when you’ve hit the point of ‘too much red’ is all about being subtle, says Johanna. “The use of red was pretty obvious,” Johanna said, “however, we didn\’t want it to over power the table setting. So, we introduced natural colors as well as light lime green to balance out the boldness of the bright red. I would say when you can\’t appreciate any of the little details because all you see is red, you’ve gone too far.”

Forget Me Not Flower Shop captured the essence of the theme to create these amazing floral arrangements. The flowers not only added the perfect touch to the table but also tied everything in. The arrangements have a lush of red roses at the bottom, topped with gorgeous moss balls, and held together by rustic branches.

The Dream Cakery crafted an elegant yet simple cake that fit in perfectly with the table décor. “The delicate white details balanced out the two bright red bands at the bottom of each cake tier.” The delicious custom decorated sugar cookies were created by The Flour Box Bakery. The flower cookies were displayed on a tree branch beside the table, as well as the red riding hood and personalized forest cookies. These were all customized designs based on the Little Red Riding Hood Party printables. The rest of the desserts was made by Johanna and the team at One Sweet Party. “There were dirt cups, chocolate cupcakes, mini cupcakes served in small clay pots and topped with Oreo crumbs, chocolate-dipped marshmallows, and cupcake poppers. It was so fun making all the yummy desserts! Alongside, we had bright-red fruit punch as the beverage.”

Another place it’s easy to go with a red hue is the food. Whether red in color or red in flavor, like strawberry or red velvet cake, Johanna advises that a good combination is the key. “Just imagine what a great surprise it would be to cut into a simple white cake and discover a bright red velvet cake. When you\’re putting together a party like this one, the little details and hidden surprises make all the difference.”

The so-cute little red baskets are the favor bags from the printable \”Little Red Riding Party Collection\”. You can easily create these with a printer, a pair of scissors, and some glue. The printables for the cupcakes and food signs were some of the first pieces created for the collection.

“Whether planning a big or small event, planning ahead and good organization will minimize stress the day of your special event,” Johanna advises. “And always have a back-up plan just in case…!” Thanks Johanna for sharing your Red Riding Hood party vision with us!

One of the greatest parts of having a lifelong friend is celebrating milestones in life with them.  Lindsey met her best friend Kristen when they were six years old. They have seen each other through switching schools, bad boyfriends, deadlines, tennis team losses, college rivalries, marriages, new houses and now, finally, pregnancy.  I\” could not be more excited for Kristen to bring her baby girl into the world and that baby, the first girl born to our group of friends, is bound to be spoiled by her elective aunties.\”  To get her started off on the right pink-baby-bootied foot, Lindsey hosted a small luncheon shower for Kristen featuring pink and grey ornaments.

\”Kristen is this mix of sweet and sophisticated, classic and modern.  She is not the sort of Mama-to-be who would appreciate cartoonish or cheesy shower decor–no diaper pins or letter blocks spelling “BABY” around here.  I went with blush pink and fuchsia for girliness and gray and silver for sophistication then brought in a few snowflake and Christmas elements as a nod to the winter season without going all Christmas-y.\”

Lindsey\’s very favorite part of the decor was the pink and silver ornament chandelier.  Ornaments on ribbons are traditional for Christmas decor but with the bows, different shades of pink ornaments, ribbon and the slight sparkle from the glittery snowflakes, this one was not only beautiful but reminiscent of a baby’s mobile and was big enough to help transform the room.

Snowflakes made appearances as napkin rings and Lindsey even used china with a beautiful snowflake pattern in the center. The place settings were made using a tablecloth , glassware, flatware, and snowflake plates. Lindsey already had and new fuchsia napkins from Crate and Barrel which coordinated perfectly.  Beaded snowflake ornaments did double duty as napkin rings and favors.

With all this ribbon and silvery sparkly ornaments around, Lindsey was able to make chair decor by simply looping ornaments strung on fat fuchsia ribbon around her dining room chairs. \”The centerpiece couldn’t have been easier and was made with stuff I had on hand plus some affordable grocery store carnations that look lush en masse and monochromatic.  White tray (Lowes) lined with pink craft paper (Michaels), sprinkled with cardstock snowflakes from a punch (Martha Stewart) and topped with two rectangular vases (Michaels) strapped together with ribbon and a glittery snowflake ornament (Michaels) on each side.

When Eve Adcock began planning her son’s first birthday, she opted to make the day a special experience for everyone who came to help celebrate little Tyler’s first year with a Peter Rabbit birthday party.

“I chose a Peter Rabbit theme when he was just a few months old, because he has a giant stuffed Peter Rabbit,” says mother and party planner Adcock. The giant rabbit from Beatrix Potter\’s beloved tail, er, tale is pictured below.

She’d begun taking monthly pictures of the baby with the bunny for his growth chart, and the idea simply “grew” from there.

Get ready for the cutest birthday party! All for the very first birthday of the sweet and wonderful Ms. Emerson, born on \”Pie Day\” March, 14th.

Forget mini chocolate mousses and little cupcakes, at Emerson\’s birthday party pies took center stage! And those aren\’t lollipops! They are pies on a stick!

The sweet dessert table featured pink chocolate covered pretzels, pastel candies and the most perfect cake sitting atop a ribbon-dressed cake stand.

Samantha has just started her candy buffet business and we\’re proud to show off her first baby shower table. \”Babies are so cute so I knew I would have a blast creating some yummy goodies.\”

The blue, beige and brown was chosen by mom-to-be Amanda for her baby boy. The baby shower took place at a little hometown restaurant called Matt Denny\’s in Arcadia, CA.  \”My favorite detail from the candy table has to be the backdrop. Having a backdrop for a candy buffet makes the table even more appealing to the guests. With the different brown flags against the light blue and stripe backdrop it makes the candy table pop!\”

Another thing I really liked about the table was the baby carriage prop that was filled with light blue rock candy. When I spotted the carriage I knew it would make a great focal point.

DIY items were the centerpieces which were baskets filled with stuff animals and other goodies to be given way to the winner of one of the games. One game that was played was the price is right with baby essentials  \”I thought that was a really fun and different baby shower game to play. The guests really had some fun with that game!

These are the famous words of beloved couture fashion designer Coco Chanel, whose signature look of style and luxury continues to inspire. Danielle is the brains behind event design company Belleza e Luce and she jumped at the chance to plan a Chanel inspired baby shower for her sister. As Danielle specializes in innovative invitations, this baby shower invite followed Coco\’s words of wisdom: \”In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.\” with a gorgeous pink and black designed Ms. Chanel would have been proud of.

\”Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.\” — Coco Chanel

Guests were asked to dress in black and white – with pearls encouraged, of course!  \”It was a request, but I also knew my guest list where most of our family and friends wear black at weddings and other events, so this was not something too out of the ordinary or drastic of a request.\” And many guests got into the spirit. They were also asked to bring their gifts wrapped in black and white and most of them acquiesced. Some even got especially creative with their gift wrapping! \”The event took place at the lovely Branches in their waterfall garden, and were fortunate to have a beautifully sunny and warm October day!  It was so warm in fact that only half hour into the party, we needed to bring in large umbrellas for shading to provide comfort and some heat relief to the guests.\”

\”Where should one use perfume?\” a young woman asked. \”Wherever one wants to be kissed.\” — Coco Chanel

As the guests entered the garden, they saw that Danielle had created a shower with a color palette of black, white, and light pink for everything from plates, menus, the cake, and centerpieces. The escort card table was designed to resemble Chanel perfume bottle labels. The tables were draped in black satin pin tuck linens with pink pink tuck napkins.  \”We choose a pocket-fold for the napkins to display the layered menus.\”  Empty bottles with Chanel-inspired perfume labels displayed the table number.

The centerpieces were crafted using Sweet Akito roses to form a lovely pink ball atop a black urn.  \”In lieu of traditional favors, my mother and I decided to make a contribution to the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit at Monmouth Medical Center, the hospital where Faith will be born.  At each place setting, a small card informing guests of our decision was attached to a March of Dimes awareness bracelet.  It was touching to hear how many of our guests appreciated this gesture.\”

Custom designed bookplates with an area for guests to write a personal message sat on a bistro table with the latest ultrasound photo of baby Faith.  \”I was completely amazed that with 71 guests attending the shower, Faith did not receive one duplicate book for her library!\”

An area was created to display the hors d’oeuvres consisting of fruit, vegetables and crudite, and antipasta including fresh mozzarella, eggplant, artichoke hearts, and roasted peppers.

The exquisite chocolate cake with mousse filling was made by Elyse of By Little Hands, the same fabulous woman who created Cibella’s Jolly Holiday cake.  I sent her the inspiration board I created for the shower, and left it in her hands!  It was delicious!  She will also be creating the cake for Luca’s upcoming party with a flavor I am super excited about (I am going to leave that surprise, for now!)

\”The shower was a wonderful success and loved by everyone, but most importantly my sister.  At the start of the shower, I toasted the soon-to-be mom, wishing her well, a healthy daughter, and of course, a quick delivery!  Welcome to motherhood, Melissa – I know you are going to be a wonderful mommy!\”

Marci’s son’s room is decorated in jungle animals and being an animal loving family, she wanted to continue the theme in her daughter’s room. She painted a tree mural complete with woodland creatures to utilize the animal theme but in a more whimsical way and this was the inspiration for her pink woodland baby shower.

While many woodland theme parties drift towards browns, greens, and “nature” colors, Marci wanted her guests to feel as if they were
were laying in a field where butterflies and little woodland creatures were running around. By having the tables in monochromatic bright colors and still utilizing the grapewood branches, she got the best of both worlds. “I knew immediately being a Florist that I wanted Ranunculus…..dainty, colorful packed with tons of texture and blooms. I spent hours picking out the colors and blooms to ensure they were all perfect.” Marci designed the owl invitation herself, putting her degree in visual communications to good use.

The amazing cake was handmade by one of my best friend’s Mother and Grandmother (Laurie Hocker). I cannot take any credit at all for the design or details. They asked me what I wanted and the general look I desired and created something better than I could have imagined!

“The truly amazing banner was created by April Cenora of Events Inspired by Love! April and I sat down and went through hundreds and hundreds of paper goods. Choosing the textures for the papers and cut out options was daunting. April took creative freedom by choosing the layered options that made the banners so amazing.”

Being in floral design, Marci’s shower tables perfectly capture that outdoor feel with the various pieces of woods and beautiful flowers. She used Ranuculus, which is one of her favorites. “My husband says I love them so much because they are tiny and filled with such a punch so they are like me in floral form.”

The vessels that hold the flowers are Hot pink and Blue vases from a local store. “I couldn’t find the vessels that had enough texture so weeks before the shower we spray painted all the vases with a glass based primer and then coated them with a semi-gloss white. Be careful not to spray inside the vases as this can be extremely lethal for the flowers.”

“It really was my dream shower. To anyone looking to celebrate their shower, incorporate items you like and want. If the traditional “woodland” theme doesn’t have your favorite colors….buck the system and include them anyway. It’s your party and you should incorporate any details you want.”

While most sweet pea baby showers offer the literal meaning with green colors and actual peas in their pods, green was far befitting of the sweet and sassiness that is this baby girl. Cara of Kigginsanity wanted everything to be bright and cheery, and what says \”bright and cheery\” to a baby girl on the way better than pinks and yellows, flowers, and a load of sweets.  \”For the theme, I ran with the \”sweet\” part and the \”pea\” just flowed out while discussing the words \”baby\” and \”sweet\” together in the same sentence.\”

For the candy bar, Cara wanted it to have height as well as as depth.  She and her co-host, Tiffany, raided their cabinets for any type of clear glass containers, finding apothecary jars, candy bowls, spaghetti dispensers, a margarita glass, mason jars, goblets, and vases.

\”I wrapped florists foam blocks in cute wrapping paper and used those to stand the Lollipops and cotton candy in.  This way they were upright instead of laying down in a boring heap.  For the cotton candy, I used an apple corer on the foam so it would sit down far enough to not fall over.\”

To add more accessories to her candy dessert table, Cara even jumped into Photoshop to make pink and yellow tags for the favors, cotton candy, giant lollipops, and wrappers for the mini candy bars to match her sweet pea theme.

Cara used long stem hydrangeas in pink and yellow for the center piece. They popped perfectly against the white linen table cloths with pink organza overlay to add the perfect girly girl touch.

You\’ve heard the saying \”beauty is pain\”, as in those stilettos might be painful but you wear them anyway because they\’re downright darling.  For Cara, that summed up the matching colors for this shower. \”I wanted everything to match so when picking out candy, I was only looking at colors which may explain why we had so many Lemon-heads left over.  I was kind of surprised how hard it is to find yellow candy out there.\” She was able to find pink giant and regular Lollipops, yellow unicorn pops, pink cotton candy, Lemon-heads, Maple covered almonds, Hershey Bar Mini\’s, pink and white M&M\’s, Pink and Yellow Twizzlers, frosted Cinnamon Hearts, Nerds, butter mints, pillow mints, Pineapple gummi-bears, frosted lemon drops, Peach discs and Hershey\’s Raspberry hugs (because they were wrapped in pink).

Because Mayelene and Nina of Love and Lemonade have been friends for a long time and have been planning events for many friends. They get ideas from past events, but mostly through each other and the relationships they have built over the years. For Mayelene\’s baby shower, inspiration came from her baby\’s name, Evelyn, which means little bird. \”Mayelene always reminds me of fall and spring at the same time,\” said Nina. \”We knew we had to have some motifs of a bird, since Mayelene was naming her girl Evelyn, but apart from that we knew the color theme would be mainly green with an eclectic pop of colors in patterns.\” Mayelene had but one request for her friends planning her shower…no pink. \”Her favorite colors are also very nature influenced – sage greens, browns, yellows – so we incorporated those colors.\”

\”I loved how our group pooled our individual talents together and was able to create a very unique and organic shower which was perfect for Mayelene.\” For an invitation, Nina\’s co-shower host Ellen created a 4.25”x5.5” tri-fold invitation made from a double –sided cardstock. \”It had a brown paper back color on one side and farm inspired pattern on the other all with a linen texture finish.  The insert was printed on an off white metallic finish cardstock that was cut with decorative corners and printed with a laser printer.  The outside of the card was the patterned side, but closed with a contrasting pattern band sealed with a round sticker that said ‘Mayelene’s Baby Shower’.  All forty of the invitations had a different pattern combination. No two were alike.  As the owner of Sky Meadow Place, Ellen is the creative and crafty one in our group did all the decorations including the invitations. She also made the tissue paper pom-poms and paper flowers.\”

\”Our friend Rosa, who owns Tropical U.S.A. and specializes in tropical flowers, volunteered to provide the arrangements.  Our other friend, Eliza, made the diaper cake. We had cake pops, mini cupcakes, and mini cheesecake bites and cream puffs all made by our friend Jessica, owner of A Cupcake Story.\”

The shower was very casual with no real set program. \”We played a few games and then the mom-to-be opened gifts. Once the guests arrived we ate lunch then we played a surprise video made by Mayelene’s graphic designer husband, Kelly. We asked him a month before to put together a video message for the shower so he could be a part of it even though he wasn’t physically there. It was funny, sweet, sentimental, all the right ingredients to make our mommy-to-be cry.\” Thanks Nina for sharing your dear friend\’s special day with us!

This nautical navy blue and red food and dessert table designed by the fabulous Jordan of Polkadot Prints looks like it could be served on the deck of a yacht. Jordan\’s color palette of navy, blue, white, and red is clean and sophisticated, and all her printed labels give it the perfect coordinated feel. We love this idea for a summer time first birthday party, whether you\’re having it in the Hamptons or your backyard.

Serving the finger foods in printed cones is a great way for party guests to pick up their food and continue to mingle.

What a cute nautical themed sailboat cake! Isn\’t it cute how the lifesaver at the top matches the lifesaver in the bunting hanging above the dessert table?!

Even the drinks are fabulous with raspberries floating in them. And Jordan didn\’t miss the opportunity to dress the drinks up, placing nautical themed pennants on the straws.

Love these round food labels! They look awesome with the matching red and white striped ribbon.

Planes were one of the first modes of transportation Jordan of  Polka Dot Print Studio’s son Levi could recognize and say. With a unique color palette for an airplane theme party, she knew it would be perfect for her son’s second birthday party. Levi had great pajamas at the time, covered in little ‘planes’ and Jordan used those as inspiration for the entire day. “I love the planning, the thinking, the brainstorming for a party,” Jordan said. “Hitting on an original idea that really captures the guest of honor or is a twist on a tradition or something.”

“We had a morning party so it worked well for parents of little kids who had to head home for naps. Given the age of most of the children, I didn\’t have too many formal games or activities. Apart from the food, I set up a couple of activity stations outside – playdough, and a wheat pit, which is a sandpit full of wheat grain, was fun! It meant adults could talk and children could play and be supervised at the same time. Plus we did do a big scavenger hunt where adults could help smaller children.”

The food was a big feature and Jordan created a formal \’sweet table\’ complete with background wallpaper to fit the plane theme of the day. “There were savory options at ‘kid height’ as well as a \’business class\’ table for the adults with a bit more grown up food.” One of the food highlights were the cloud chocolate pops which were \’floating\’ on the sweet table.

Jordan did all the cooking and craft items herself, and then had some help from a friend the night before. “I love the crafty aspect to putting a party together. I baked and decorated the cookie favors which were time consuming but I really enjoyed doing that for the first time. I loved making the cake definitely, as it\’s the highlight for most kids. It was a soft pound cake with butter cream icing. It was so moist and delicious!” Levi’s favorite part was playing, drinking from a glass bottle with a straw and the cake!

The grass was an idea Jordan had filed away for a while. She bought it at a hardware store where it can be purchased by the meter and the width was perfect for her table. _“The backdrop I used was one of my own designs as a wallpaper. It matched in with the invite and all the other printables. I used the matching buffet labels and party dots from the same collection as the invitation. The printable milk cartons were a huge hit and were a personal favorite of mine of the entire party.”

For party favors, Jordan made plane cookies for each of the little guests and put them into small white boxes, tied with twine and one of her thank you swing tags. “I decided on the milk cartons which guests used for their scavenger hunt loot as well as filling them up with the lollies from the sweets table. It was a great way to disperse all the sugar!”

For some, party planning talent is something that runs in the family. This is the case for Seri of Little Miss Party Planner. Her sister, Mandy, had been aching to throw her a baby shower, and they compromised with a sip and see. \”What a great concept a sip n see is! Invite your friends and family over, serve some food, sip some drinks and see the baby!\” Mandy collaborated with two of her good pals to put on this jewel toned, Moroccan themed soiree and their contributions were pretty spectacular.

Ashley put a great deal of creativity and effort into the decor for this party. The color scheme was made of gorgeous jewel tones in cobalt blue, fuchsia pink, sparkling gold and bright white. The details included several DIY projects that Mandy and Ashley worked on, including gold tinted doilies strung along the window, metallic bunting for the bundt cake, gold dipped forks for the dessert table (love love love) and shimmering gold sprayed soup cans used as vases.

\”One of my favorite DIY decor pieces that showed up all over the party…were these adorable spray painted elephants! I love them!\”

Little Miss Party Planner team member Ali helped design the invitation inspired by one of my favorite stationary sites Iomoi. She also designed fun chocolate bar wrappers set out for the guests to grab on their way out…so sweet!

Mandy’s friend Elyse  whisked everyone away to Morocco with the exotic menu for this baby sip and see party.

When it came to choosing her daughter\’s birthday party theme, this was a no-brainer. Denise of Bebengism\’s little one breathes My Little Pony sweetness all day long. \”Instead of saying everybody, she\’d say \”every pony\”. She\’d sleep with her ponies, plays with them whenever she can.\” While Pony products are not easy to come by in the Philippines, Denise played with colors and used the four-legged lovelies wherever she could.

To design the invitations, Denise and her cousin created their own with Photoshop. We love how she personalized each person\’s name on the outside.

When interior and event designer Julie Khuu has a friend who is expecting, she goes into baby shower planner mode. For the little rascal her friend Elaine is expecting she planned out a Little Rascals themed baby shower!

Whether your favorite character was Spanky or Alfalfa, Julie had something for every fan of the classic movie and decorated the party with creative touches plucked right from the movie.

A radio flyer wagon functioned as both the holder for Classic Coca Cola bottles, as well as the topper for the cake.

No Little Rascals party could be complete without Pete, the dog with the ring around his eye, and he shows up on the cake.

From Cracker Jack boxes to gumball machines, Julie didn\’t miss an opportunity to tie in movie memories.

Favors were jars of cookies tied with twine. It looks like everyone had a blast being a rascal!

Oh so girly and beautiful is the land of Equestria! This adorable My Little Pony Party themed party and dessert table was styled by Angie from Whimsy Farm Twine.

Rainbow Dash might be able to clear the sky in 10 seconds flat, but why would she want to when Angie created a sky full of color and rainbows for her dessert table backdrop? Brightly color tissue poms hanging overhead give the appearance of cotton candy clouds.

This party creates the perfect balance of color to create a rainbow party look without being overwhelmed by rainbow.

Even the sweet treats got the rainbow pony treatment. We really love the sugar cookies and pastel macaroons. So cute!

Talulah\’s friends got to take some pony treats home in rainbow striped favor bags.

Tying the whole party together are these gorgeous tassels, don\’t they remind you of days braiding your My Little Pony\’s tail?

We are hopping all over this sweet and lovely garden Beatrix Potter Party Andrea  put together for her daughter’s 8th birthday party.

Anne decorated, baked and prepared the perfect carrot patch setting for a bunch of girls to come celebrate and enjoy some garden treats!

A fan of Beatrix Potter\’s classic children\’s tail–er, tale,– she incorporated eggs, carrots and books into the party decor.

A beautiful personalized banner was created using illustrations from the book. Other illustrations accompanied stickers and chocolate milk bottles.

The berry baskets were a sweet touch too!

Paper Party Decor’: Where the Green Grass Grows Designs

Nicola from Party Pony Designer Pinatas held this gorgeous aquamarine and blue Mermaid birthday party for her daughter Mia. Prepare to head under the sea where mermaids swim among the coral and starfish!

As told by Nicola:

\”Having had larger, outdoor parties in the past we wanted Mia\’s Birthday to be a little smaller but equally fun. Being in the events industry and having a good friend who styles amazing lolly buffet\’s, meant that our morning-tea was never going to be a dull affair. Instead of spending the time and money on games or entertainment we put our focus on presenting to the children an amazing array of treats and eye-catching decorations.\”

Their little jaws certainly dropped when they saw our spread of iced cookies and lollies. The Mum\’s jaws also dropped when they saw our glittery, silver-leaf and marshmallow decorated macaroons.

Along with strawberry-milk in the must-have mini milk bottles and coordinating party bags the little ones all enjoyed pass-the-parcel and a game of musical statues.

We finished the morning with coffee\’s and an ombre chocolate mud-cake made by my good friend Cat of Cat\’s Creative Cakes. A lot of genuine giggles and fun was shared by the little ones and Mia had a beautiful time.

2013 was definitely a banner year for outrageous baby names and 2014 is shaping up to be the year that pushes the boundaries of what was previously considered \”normal\”. Gone are the vogue of names ending in –den, such as Brayden, Jayden, Aiden, and alike, as well as the \’x\’ madness of Axl and Xander. As parents strive to distinguish their children from peers, social baby naming website, Belly Ballot is predicting some shocking New Year\’s trends. \”We\’ve been seeing strong naming trends for upcoming 2014 babies,\” says Belly Ballot Editor Lucie Strachonova. \”Distinctiveness is paramount. It\’s an exciting time to see so much variety and we can\’t wait to see how things turn out.\”

Based on naming data from over 3,500 parents, along with 25,000 votes from their friends and family, the site has released the following predictions for the 2014 New Year:

Unconventional Spellings
Unusual, and borderline eccentric spellings have become the simplest way to become distinctive. The names are still traditional in their pronunciation, yet extremely unique in their spellings. Rules of grammar and morphology aside, this is a perfect fusion for parents who don\’t want to stand out, but still want to give their child a name with a modern twist. As a way of breaking from stereotype, parents choose Izak, Karder, Riyan, Kooper, Mykel, Emhily, BrookeLynn, or Meeya.

It\’s All about Show Business
Every year there are new TV shows, movie blockbusters, and celebrity babies that serve as inspiration for parents when choosing a name for their child. We saw it when Twilight Saga\’s Isabella became the most popular feminine given name in the US a few years ago, when Aria from Pretty Little Liars skyrocketed from absolute zero popularity to one of the most favorite, and when Addison switched its usage from a boy to a girl thanks to the attractive and intelligent Dr. Addison Montgomery on Private Practice. 2014 favorites will be Hayley and Camille from vampire craze The Originals, Piper from Orange Is the New Black, Ichabod and Katrina from a new TV series Sleepy Hollow. As for celebrity babies, odds are in favor of Milan (Shakira\’s baby boy), Lincoln (Kristen Bell\’s son), Everly (daughter of Channing Tatum) or Autumn (Jennifer Love Hewitt\’s newborn).

Biblical Revival
The bible is never going to go out of style, so neither will biblical names. After a few years of innovations and experimenting, parents are restoring old customs to regain the essence of religious values – welcome Isaac and Naomi! Biblical names are nothing new under the sun. Names like Jacob, Michael, or Noah have been scoring the highest popularity ranks for years, but the surge of others, previously less frequent Biblical names is about to hit in 2014: Caleb, Levi, Luke, Isaiah, Naomi, Shiloh, or Judith.

Mythological Names
The trend of going back to Biblical names is complemented by parents going even further in history, choosing names from Ancient Mythology. One of the greatest perks of these names is the fact that despite being \’ancient\’, they have that mystique and exotic uniqueness parents often seek Luna, Camilla, Gaia, Tristan, Damon, or Thor.

This pink baby shower took place in the beautifully landscaped backyard of Tiffany and Marc\’s home as they await the arrival of their daughter. This celebration just goes to show you that a backyard gathering can still be elegant and styled.

The look was shabby chic, with pink flower arrangements in mason jars wrapped with burlap and lace and vintage owl centerpieces.

Activities for guests were arranged around the backyard, labeled with chalkboard inspired signs in frames. The tables were accessorized with flower arrangements of roses and hydrangeas and rustic touches from wire bird cages and wooden owls.

Friends and family had a blast at the photo booth with props including big lips and mustaches for the ladies and gents.

To welcome their baby girl, a pretty in pink dessert table was a party focal point. The sweet table was framed with tree branches dressed up with giant tissue poms which complemented the petal linen.

We\’re loving the lavender and pink tiered cake on the table. Isn\’t this little ruffled diapered baby bottom the greatest cake centerpiece?! So cute!

The baby\’s name was announced at the end to the friends and family that were were able to share this special day with them.

When you\’re having a baby, you want your baby shower to be grand. That\’s why it\’s no surprise Linda Ly of Grand Soirees Event Design & Coordination had an incredible, elegant white and silver baby shower. With the county covered in snow, her theme for the day was \”Baby it\’s Cold Outside\” incorporating elements of sprinkling snow.

Baby girl Lana Katherine is Linda\’s second baby and she wanted to have a fun and fabulous party to celebrate a new baby on the way. As this was her second baby, she didn\’t really need gifts, but since it was nearly New Year’s and she was in a festive and sparkling mood, the colors reflected with winter snow.

\”We decorated the center table with a linen that had silver sequins on the top and white chiffon ruffles on the sides. The tables flanking the center table had white satin linens. The chairs were lucite chiavaris. We did centerpieces of winter white florals in mercury glass on vintage jewelry platters and jumbo clear latex balloons filled with confetti and flying with metallic streamers.\”

The invitations were screen printed, using a Yudu, onto sheets of lucite. The place cards were also lucite, which embellished with guests names using silver paint.

A spiral organza was cut to make skirts for the chiavari chairs and then extra large sequin and rhinestone headbands were slipped onto the chairs as an accent.

What\’s a better party favor at a wintery party than white hot cocoa to take to-go? Linda layered marshmallows, white chocolate chips and white chocolate cocoa powder inside cylindrical silver paper containers purchased from Paper Mart. The hot cocoa bar banner was made by pleating glitter wrapping paper from paper source and cutting out letters and shapes using a Cricut.

No baby shower is complete without a cake. Linda\’s cake was sparkling in silver and gold.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Party‘s gingerbread house decorating party proves that holiday soirees can be pastel fun. Every tasty treat a kid could ask for was within hand\’s reach, and instead of the traditional red and green colors, Andressa mixed in a variety of softer hues for a stylish, childish statement.

Decorating parties need to happen for every sugary baked good like these gingerbread people made out of smores.

Every chef was given a confetti sprinkled hat and an edible name plaque cookie. So yummy!

Beth of The Way The Cookie Crumbles designed the prettiest white cable knit inspired gingerbread cookies to go with the cable knit cake designed by Dream Cakes, FL.

Isn’t that the cutest sprinkled chef’s hat ever?

Gum drops, candy canes, frosting “glue”- this is the most kid approved art project ever, and we absolutely love the idea of turning it into a party with little friends!

Neilah is one of the cutest princesses that photographer Jodee Debes has ever seen! Although the conditions weren’t great for her first birthday photography shoot, what with a bad case of teething, stormy day, and a bit of a cold coming on, you would never know by the sweet images of Neilah. \”My favorite part is that this baby girl has attitude and isn’t afraid to show the camera her different expressions.\” We can definitely see that!

 

Ella turned two on September 2nd and to celebrate her golden birthday, her parents through a purple birthday party with Jessi Dalton there to take pictures of all the fun.

Ella\’s mom, Chelsea, and Chelsea\’s mom, Kim, made all of the adorable decor including tissue poms, bouquets of flowers and metallic balloons.

Such talented and sweet people and Ella really seemed to enjoy the attention and party!

The big activity of the day was a pinata. Look how excited everyone was to smash it!

Who says you can\’t embrace your adopted child until you have them in your arms? Ashley and Drew Karschner are patiently waiting for their son Judah William to arrive. While Ashley isn\’t eight months  pregnant they are already a year into waiting for Judah to be placed in their family. Ethopia is where Judah will be born and adopted from but he has already made a home in their heart. This child they do not yet know has captivated them. He is the what inspires them to keep waiting to hold on to the hope that some day soon he will be in their arms. And to capture that joy and anticipation, they had an \’expecting\’ photography

A child diving into her first birthday cake is an iconic childhood image, but it’s also one that many of today’s parents would rather avoid. The introduction of sugars, processed foods and chemical additives is a situation that many parents would like to put off for as long as possible, but the idea of depriving their child of a first birthday cake seems unreasonably cruel. In fact, there are a host of alternatives to a traditional cake that will not only be healthier for your little one and her guests, but will also put a fun and inventive twist on an old tradition.

• Fruit Tortes – Instead of a towering confection made of refined flour, processed sugar and chemical dyes, why not make your own fresh fruit torte for Baby’s first birthday treat? Using locally grown, organic produce is the healthiest and most ecologically conscious choice. Just be sure that you’re not introducing strawberries or kiwi into her diet for the first time at her party, as these are common food allergens.

• Angel Food Cake – Spongy, light and delicious, angel food cakes have been the go-to for dieters for years. With a bit of creative topping and a customized recipe, they can also be a healthier alternative to a traditional cake slathered in thick, sugary icing full of dyes and preservatives. Look for recipes that use honey or agave nectar for sweetening, as well as vegan options that will exclude animal products.

• Watermelon Cake – In addition to being delicious and refreshing, a watermelon is also a great canvas for stylized desserts. Carve a slab of watermelon into a cake-like shape, decorate with flowers made of grapes and blueberries and celebrate Baby’s first big day with no preservatives, additives or refined sugars. Creative parents can even churn out a tiered affair by stacking several slabs in graduated sizes and experimenting with edible, all-natural garnishes.

• Vegan Cupcakes – The vegan ingredients allow your baby and her guests to chow down on treats free of animal products and excessive calories, while the small size of a cupcake may prove to be the perfect portion size. No more slabs of sugary, egg-filled cake smothered in chemical-laced icing; just reach for a pre-portioned, beautifully decorated and vegan-friendly confection.

• Mini Tarts – Miniature fruit tarts are an ideal cake alternative, especially if you make the crusts yourself in order to have more control over the ingredients. There are even recipes for vegan, gluten-free crust options. Choose delectable, fresh fruits for the filling and skip the sugary glazes. Sweet fruits can stand alone and don’t need the thick paste of sticky, sugary goo.

• Cake Pops – Like cupcakes, only smaller, cake pops allow for greater portion control and can also be made to suit a gluten-free, vegan diet. Choose your icing options carefully and you may be able to eliminate the addition of refined sugar altogether. Just be sure to remove the sticks from Baby’s pop and cut it into manageable bites to avoid presenting a choking hazard.

Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box when it comes to your child’s first birthday cake. Not only will you be staving off the introduction of questionable chemicals and additives, but you can also soothe any pangs of guilt by realizing that, at a year old, she’s not likely to remember that her cake wasn\’t a traditional one. Start your own traditions, and celebrate her first birthday knowing that you’re giving your child the gift of a strong, healthy body.

It was fitting that Annie and Robin\’s baby on the way was celebrated with a megawatt Hollywood theme celebration fit for the new upcoming star in their lives- Baby Brandon!

Look up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it\’s Super Joel at his first birthday party! Mom Sofia knew this super hero theme was going to be his birthday party theme the moment he was born. \”My husband described his entry into the world as if he were Superman. With one arm straight up above his head, he came \”flying\” out! With that description, it was set, Joel was our little Superman.\”

 In the Portuguese tradition, first birthday parties are very formal. Sofia designed his birthday to have a formal feel yet still have the element of fun.  She decorated the room with super hero colors of blue, red and yellow and kept the room safe from harm.

With great colors, brick,  and awesome chandeliers it set the tone for his birthday.

Even Joel\’s high chair got the super hero remodel with comic book style banners.

The dessert table was a super sweet feast. With red polka dot runner and polka dot balloons to set off Joel\’s own super emblem as the focal point.

\”I used patterns on the tables to add that fun character, and brought in a city night skyline to really bring it all together. \” But we especially love the custom super Joel cake topper on a fabulous super hero cake!

With some extra fun like a photobooth and caricature artist it rounded out the night well.\”

While mom and baby are the ones that make this beautiful nursery room shine, they are rivaled by the beautiful cream and gold details of this little angel\’s home. Kayla of  Paisley Studios took us on a photography tour of the room.

Soft pinks and neutral creams make up most of the linens in this nursery. The same pattern was used on the comfortable lounger as the accent pillow.

And although with no snow in the near future for this little man, the California weather welcomed its own little Christmas Elf – cute baby Grant!  Lidia from A&L Photographers was delighted to take pictures of him, outside the family house, and were excited to try different props his mom had brought in – a mini-sledge, a little sofa – all too cute not to share!

When Amy from Smash Cake and Co was planning a Merry & Bright Christmas Party, she knew she wanted to use traditional red and green holiday colors. But by adding some touches of light blue and putting it all against a white background, the colors really popped! \”I had a lot of fun mixing fun patterns like polka dots, chevron and stripes in the party colors and it made the party feel more modern overall.\”

To set off the crisp white of the feather trees and our Milk Glass Cake Stands, she used a Party Paper in Blue Taffy Big Dots as a table runner and made a tassel garland as a simple but vibrant & eye-catching backdrop.

Custom snowflake shirts for the little models were made by placing a picture of a snowflake Amy printed inside the shirt and using fabric glue to adhere silver rhinestones. \”The whole project took about an hour and only cost $12 for both shirts!  My sweet Evie (left) and photographer Becky Batchelor’s daughter Sophia (right) had so much fun and did such a great job!\”

The Cakehole made the incredible cake and cookies that exactly complimented the colors and patterns of the theme. Sweet Peas Cake Pops & Treats made the adorable cake pops.  We can see how excited Sophia was to get her hands on these!

How adorable are the hair ties in Evie’s hair and the clip Sophia is wearing?!  Val atChicken Scratch’d listened to Amy\’s ideas and made these especially for the shoot.

\”When I found these pillows in the Nest2Impress shop on Etsy, I almost swooned!  They added such a fun pop of color and pattern!  I found the aqua vintage bench at a barn sale a while back and I’ve been dying to use it!\”

Amy used her Party Paper Ribbon and wrapped it around popular Plastic French Square Milk Bottles, then dipped the ends of Rock Candy Sticks in a little glitter for some extra bling.

What’s a party without presents?  Amy used Party Paper in coordinating colors to wrap up some pretty gifts for the girls!
