Kurban Bayramında değişik bir tatil yapmak isteyenlere alternatif bir tur olabilir ancak tur İzmir’den başlıyor. Detaylar sayfadan alıntı yapılarak aşağıda olduğu gibi yayınlanmıştır.

Bayramın 1.günü sabah erkenden yola çıkıyoruz ve sabah kahvaltısını Hotel Natura’da alarak gezimize başlıyoruz. 3 günlük gezimizde bölgesel rehberimiz eşliğinde, Kapıkırı Köyü, Herakleia antik kenti, masastır, kaya resimleri günlük yürüyüşler ile gezilecektir. Ayrıca, Uyku Vadisini, vadi içindeki mağarayı gezecek ve Bodrum’u da ziyaret edeceğiz.

Bana sorarsanız Kıbrıs’ın en güzel iki şehrinden bir tanesi Girne. Şehir merkezinde görebileceğiniz çok fazla bir şey yok. Tüm güzellik neredeyse Girne limanında. Akşam üstü gün batımında Girne limanındaki herhangi bir cafede oturup bir şeyler yemek, içmek, akşam güneşi batarken tarihi Girne kalesine vuran ışıltıları ve limandaki birbirinden güzel yatları seyretmek oldukça keyif verici. Bu tabloyu güzel kılan bir başka detayda limandaki eski taş yapıların neredeyse tamamının dimdik ve bakımlı bir şekilde ayakta duruyor olmaları. Limandaki binalar yarım ay şeklinde dizilmiş, sırtlarını birbirlerine dayamış limanı koruma altına almış gibiler. Binaların büyük çoğunluğu cafe veya lokanta olarak hizmet veriyor bazılarında hediyelik eşyalar satılıyor.

Tüm güzelliği ile Girne Limanının önünde yer alan Girne kalesi nerdeyse tamamı ayakta kalmış Kıbrıs’ın en güzel tarihi eserlerinden biridir. Kare plana yakın olan kalenin her bir köşesine gözetleme amaçlı bir kule inşa edilmiştir. Kalenin bilinen ilk inşa yılına ait bulgular 7 ci yüzyılı işaret etmekte. Daha sonraki dönemlerde Kıbrıs çeşitli uygarlıkların eline geçtikçe kaleye eklemeler yapılmış. Bugün içerisinde Kıbrıs açıklarında bulunan bir batık ile Girne’de bulunan tarihi eserler sergilenmekte.

Girne kalesine arkanızı dönüp limanın ardındaki tepelere doğru baktığınızda St. Hilarion Kalesini görürsünüz. Beşparmak dağları üzerindeki iki tepeye inşa edilmiş olan kale bugün Girne limanını ve Girne’yi tepeden görmektedir. Savunma amaçlı yapılan bu kale yapıldığı dönemde oldukça işlevsel olarak kullanılmış. Yapım yılı tam olarak bilinmeyen yapının, yapımından bir süre sonra bir manastır ve birde kilise eklenmiş. Ancak ateşli silahların icadından sonra kale işlevini yitirerek bir süre yazlık olarak kullanılmış. Bugün ise doyumsuz Girne manzarasını görmek için turist akınına uğrayan bir yer haline gelmiş.

Girne’de yer alan bir başka güzel yapı Bellapais Manastırı’dır. Yapı bir uçurumun kenarında inşa edilmiştir. Kaleler gözlem amacıyla tepelere inşa edilirken manastırlarda eski dönemlerdeki inanca göre allaha daha yakın olmak için tepelere inşa edilmişlerdir. Bellapais’de, etkileyici Gotik mimarisi ile bunlara bir örnektir. Manastır binasının ilk inşa tarihi 1198 ile 1205 yılları arasındadır. Bilinen ilk yerleşimcileri ise Kudüs’den göç eden rahipler. Daha sonraki yıllarda Osmanlı İmparatorluğunun Kıbrıs’ı alması ile manastır Yunan Ortodoks kilisesine çevrilmiştir.

Bugün Girne’ye gelen turistlerin büyük bir çoğunluğu tarihden çok haftasonları kaçamağı yapıp kumar oynamaya gelmekteler. Girne limanındaki tüm otellerin alt kısımları kumarhane. Dışarıdaki ışıklar içeride çok büyük şeyler görecekmişsiniz gibi kendilerini gösteriyorlar ancak Las Vegas kumarhaneleri yanında hepsi birer prototip gibi duruyor. Genelde 25-30 tane slot denen para atılan makinalardan var 3-5 tanede canlı kumarın oynandığı masa mevcut. İçeri girenlere sınırsız açık büfe yiyecek ikramı var. Neredeyse tüm Kıbrıs’ın en büyük kazanç kapısı kumarhaneler.

Konaklama için Girne’de bir çok seçeneğiniz var elbette ama biz Life Otelde konakladık. Odaların konforundan da personelden de son derece memnun kaldık. Otel Girne limanına 15 dakikalık yürüme mesafesinde. Life Otel’in iki kişilik oda fiyatı lobideki tabelalarında 130 TL yazıyor ancak sezon sonunda pazarlığa oldukça açıklar. Bana sorarsanız Kıbrıs için en güzel vakit sezon sonu kabul edilen Ekim. Hala hava sıcak ve güneşli denize girme şansınız hala var.

Araç kiralayarak Kıbrıs’ı gezmek en mantıklı yol. Bu konuda Kıbrıs hem iyi hemde kötü, neden kötü derseniz. Kimse 3 günün altında kiralık araç vermiyor. Biz 2 gün kiralamış olmamıza rağmen 3 gün parası ödedik ancak günlük kirası 45 TL ye bile araç bulabileceğiniz için ödediğiniz 3 günlük bedel çok da ağır olmuyor, buda iyi tarafı. Tüm araç kiralama firmaları aracı havalimanına getirmek için extra ücret talep ediyorlar ki buda 2 günlük araç kirası kadar. Sadece Sun araç kiralama firmasının havalimanında ofisi var oradan araç kiralarsanız havalimanından alıp yine limanda bırakma şansınız var. Biz 2007 model bir fiat için günlük 55 TL ödedik. Hatırlanması gereken bir noktada trafik akışının ters olduğu ve direksiyonların sağda olması. Alışmak kısa sürüyor hatta 2 gün boyunca orada sürekli araç kullandıktan sonra İstanbul’a döndüğümde ilk gün arabayı sağdan kullanmaya kalktım. Sizi şaşıtacak bir başka noktada tabela sisteminin çok kötü olması. Bir döner kavşağa geldiğinizde veya Kıbrıs’lı deyişi ile “çembere gelende”, sizi yönlendiren hiçbir tabela yok taki kavşaktan çıkana kadar, çıktığınız anda da yanlış yöne gidiyorsanız bir yerlerden geri dönmeniz bir hayli zaman alıyor. Tabela konusunda çok dikkatli olmasınız.

Van Gölünün kenarındaki en güzel yer neresi derseniz hiç düşünmeden Ahlat derim. Bu güzel ilçe Bitlis iline bağlı ama Bitlis’in adını gölgede bırakacak kadar güzel. Ahlat, bir yanında Sübhan diğer yanında Nemrut dağı ile Van Gölü’ne uzanan platolara sahip bir yerleşim. Son baharda ve baharda bu platolar göl ile birleşince müthiş renkler insanı adeta büyülüyor. Ahlat’a komşu olan diğer ilçelerde onun kadar meşhur ve güzeller bunlardan biri, Adilcevaz diğeri Malazgirt. Adilcevaz deyince akla hemen dünya çapında ün yapmış olan el yapımı bastonlar, Malazgirt deyincede 1071 yılındaki meydan savaşı geliyor. Ahlat dokuz mahalleden oluşuyor. Her tarafında tarih kokan bu güzel ilçenin en eski mahalleleri sur içinde kalan Kale ve Tunus. Ahlat tarıma elverişli ovaları ilede dikkat çeker burada en çok yetişen ürünler elma ve yörenin meşhuru cevizdir. Hatta geçmişde Ahlat bahçelerinin, Adilcevaz bahçelerine kadar uzanıp birleştiği bilinmektedir.

Ahlat’ın isminin nereden geldiğine dair birçok söylenti var. Bunlardan en beğendiğimi sizede aktarmak istiyorum. Ahlat’da Lat adında bir Rum kralı ve onunda Daryona adlı kızı varmış. Müslümanların Ahlat’ı fethetmesi sırasında Daryona Müslümanlığı kabul etmiş ve babasını iknaya çalıştığı halde razı edememiş. Bu yüzden de Daryona babasını öldürmüş. Sonra babasına çok üzülerek ah Lat, ah Lat demiş. Böylece Ahlat, ah ve Lat hecelerinin birleşiminden meydana gelmiş. (Kaynak Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı Sayfası)

Ahlat ilçesi 7 km lik küçük bir sahil şeridi içinde büyük bir tarih barındırmakta. Öyleki ilçeye 15 km mesafede bulunan Yuvadamı köyünde (M.Ö 3000) Tunç Çağına ait mezarlar bulunmuş. Mezarladan çıkan seramikler ve bir çok süs eşyası dönemi saptamakta Arkeologlara yardımcı olmuş. Seramiklerin o dönemde sadece bu bölgede üretildiği bilinmekte. Ahlat Türkler tarafından ele geçirildikten sonrasına ait de bir çok tarihi eser günümüze kadar gelmiş. Bunların en önemlisi ve bence en etkileyicisi Selçuklu mezarları. Kütlesel taşlar ve üzerlerindeki işlemeler dikkat çekici. Mezar taşları ayetler, hadisler, arabesk motifler, kandil, lale gibi Selçuklular dönemine ait kabartmalarla bezenmişler. Bu mezarlık ülkemizde bilinen en büyük Selçuklu mezarlığı. Mutlaka görülmesi gereken bir mekan. İçine girdiğinizde taşların devasa boyutları ve mezarlığın yayıldığı büyük alan emin olun beni etkilediği gibi sizide çok etkileyecek. Hele birde havada kara bulutlar dolaşıyorsa mezarlık senaryosu tamamlanmış oluyor.

Bir başka önemli yapı grubu ise kümbetler. Türk – İslam geleneğinde kümbetler alt kısmında mezar üzerinde ise küçük ibadet mekanı olan yapılardır. Şekil olarak oldukça estetik görünümlü olan kümbetlerin sayısı Ahlat’ta 19’u bulmakta. Ancak bunların bazıları günümüze yıkık durumda ulaşabilmişler. Kümbetler genelde kare tabanla başlayıp üst kısımları, silindir, sekizgen veya onikigen olarak devam edip konik şekilde kapatılmışlar.

Yavuz Sultan Selim zamanında yapılmış olan sahil kalesi ilginçdir. Ahlat halkı her hangi bir saldırıda kalenin kendilerini koruyamayacak kadar eski olduğuna karar vererek Yavuz Sultan Selim’den yeni bir kale talebinde bulunurlar. Yavuz Sultan Selim Ahlat’da ki tüm eski yapılardan toplattığı devşirme malzemeler ile (devşirme malzeme: bir binada kullanımda olan herhangi bir malzemenin sökülerek başka bir binada kullanılması) yeni bir kale inşa ettirir. Ahlat’lılar bugün bile bir çok tarihi yapıyı bu kalenin yapımı ile bir anda kaybettiklerini düşünmekteler. Onlara hak vermemek elde değil.

İstanbul Anadolu Yakasında yeni bir fotoğraf merkezi açılıyor. Bu tip haberleri daha bir çoşkulu veriyorum, çünkü yıllardır bu tip faliyetler için Avrupa Yakasına gidiyoruz.

İstanbul Hatırası Fotoğraf Merkezi 24 Ekim’de Haluk Çobanoğlu’nun Arabesk isimli fotoğraf sergisi ile Moda’da açılış yapacak. Açılış saat 17:00 de başlayıp saat 20:00 ye kadar devam edecek. Fotoğraf seven herkes kokteyile ve sıcak dost sohbetlerine davetli.

İfsak 3. Genç Fotoğrafçılar Festivali kapsamında Burak Barutcu’nun “Şehir hayatı kafa karıştırıcıdır” konulu sergi 15 Ekim 2009 Perşembe, 19:30 dan itibaren gezilebilir. Burak Barutcu’nun ilk kişisel sergisi 31 Ekim 2009 Cumartesi, 22:30 ‘a kadar açık kalacak. Aynı zamanda bir blog yazarı olan Burak’a başarılar diliyoruz. Fotoğraf ve yazılarını blogundan takip edebilirsiniz.

Belki tarihe merakı olmayan bir çok kişi tarafından bilinmemektedir ama parayı bulan Lidya’lılar Anadaolu topraklarında yaşamışlardır. İlk para kullanımı bugün Sart Antik Şehri dediğimiz Manisa – Salihli yakınlarındaki bu bölgede olmuştur. O dönemde Sardis Kenti Lydia Krallığa başkentlik etmiştir.

Sardis’deki yerleşim 3000 yıl öncesine dayanmaktadır. Antik şehirde yapılan kazılarda Erken Bronz Dönemine ait eserlerin yanı sıra MÖ 3 ile 7 bin’e uzanan Neolitik Çağa ait eserlerde bulunmuştur. Sardis şehri MÖ 7 ci yüzyıl ile MS 7 ci yüzyıla kadar 1500 yıllık bir dönemde çok önemli bir şehirdi. Roma dönemine ait surlar 300 hektar alanı çevrelemekteydi. Dönemin Lidya Kralları Giges, Alyattes ve Krezus (Karun) oldukça zenginlerdi. Bugün hala dilimizden düşmeyen Karun kadar zengin deyişi Lidya’lılar döneminden günümüze kadar gelmiştir. Günümüzde İzmir Ankara karayolundan da görülen kraliyet tepe mezarları veya Bintepeler denen bölgede onlarca tümülüs bulunmaktadır, buda Lidya servetinin kanıtıdır. Lidya Krallığı, Sart Çayının kumlarından altın çıkartarak işlemiştir, 1968 yılındaki kazılarda Sart yerleşim bölgesinin kuzeyinde altın işleme atölyeleri bulunmuştur.

Anadolu’nun MÖ 6 cı yüzyılda Persler tarfından istila edilmesiyle Sart, Perslerin önemli bir idari merkezi haline gelmiş ve bu dönemde satraplara yani Pers Valilerine ev sahipliği yapmıştır. MÖ 334 yılında Büyük İskender’in istilası ile birlikte şehir, Artemis Tapınağı, Gynasium, Tiyatro ve Agoralar ile hızla Helenleşmiştir. MÖ 1ci ve MS 4cü yüzyıl arasında yer alan Roma Döneminde şehir hamamlar ve benzeri unsurlarla donatılarak Greko-Roman Metropol hüviyetine bürünmüştür. Bu büyük şehrin en son safhası MS 4 cü ve MS 7 ci yüzyıllar arasındaki Geç Roma Dönemidir. Bugün bu döneme ait önemli kalıntılar halen mevcuttur. Şehirdeki nufüs 18 ci ve 19 cu yüzyıllarda küçülmüş ve bir kaç haneden oluşan mezra haline gelmiştir. Bugünkü Sart beldesi 1919-1922 yıllarındaki Kurtuluş Savaşını takiben yeniden gelişmiştir.

Bugüne kadar Türkiye’de gördüğüm antik kentler içinde beni en çok etkileyen yer Sart oldu. Yapıya yaklaşırken görkemli duruşu uzaklardan insanı etkilemeye başlıyor. Yapının yanına gelip devasa sütunlara aşağıdan baktığınızda ne kadar heybetli bir yapı olduğu bir kere daha görüyorsunuz. Sardis Şehrine 1 km mesafede Artemiz tapınağı yer alıyor. Belliki o tapınakta zamanında oldukça ihtişamlı bir yermiş ancak bugün görebileceğiniz ayakta kalmış 3-5 sütundan başka bir şey yok malesef. Tabiki Sardis’e kadar geldiğinizde burayı görmemezlik olmaz. Özellikle gün batımı fotoğraf çekmek için ideal bu saatlerde sütunların üzerine güzel bir ışık düşüyor.

Doğubeyazıt’a girdiğinizde böylesine sade bir yerleşim yerinde bu kadar görkemli bir saray görmeyi hayal bile edemezsiniz. Burada yerleşim düz bir hat üzerinde inşa edilmiş. Yemek yiyebileceğiniz neredeyse tek bir yer var oda bir lahmacun kebap salonu. Yabancı plakalı araçla ilçeye girdiğinizde çocuklar etrafınızı sarıyorlar. Doğubeyazıt’a gelirken yol sürecide ilginç. Geliş yolu üzerinde jandarmanın kimlik tespiti yaptığı Tendürek Dağı geçidi var. Bu bölgeden sonra görüntülerde değişiyor. Yanardağın püskürttüğü lavlar katılaşarak her yeri kaplamış. Bugün küçük siyah molozlar, büyüklü küçüklü tepeler oluşturmuş durumda. Bu molozların arasından bir atmaca bazende bir kartal havalanıyor aniden, bu sahneyi görmek beni çok heyecanlandırıyor. Doğubeyazıt’a yaklaşırken yol manzaraları arasına büyük ve küçük Ağrı dağlarının karlı ve sisli tepeleride giriyor.

Doğubeyazıt’ın içinden İshak Paşa Sarayına gitmek 2-3 dakika sürüyor. İlçe merkezine uzaklığı sadece 5 km. Tepenin üzerindeki sarayı görür görmez bir heyecan basıyor insanı. İçi kadar dıştan görüntüsüde oldukça etkileyici, bütün Doğubeyazıt’ı görebilecek şekilde bir kayalığın üzerinde duruyor. Topkapı Sarayından sonra yapılmış sarayların en ünlüsü İshak Paşa Sarayı. 18 ci yüzyıl Osmanlı mimarisinin en seçkin örneklerinden olan saray sanat tarihi açısındanda büyük önem taşıyor. 1685 yılında İshak Paşanın babası Çolak Abdi Paşa tarafından yapımına başlanan sarayı oğlu İshak Paşa 1784 yılında bitirmiş. Saray 7600 m2 lik bir alanı kaplamakta. Binanın görkemli yerlerinden birinde yer alan som altından bir kapı varmış, ancak 1917 Rus istilası sırasında bu kapı malesef sökülerek Moskova’ya taşınmış halen Moskova müzesinde sergilenmekte. Sarayda su ve kanalizasyon tertibatıda mevcut.

Yapının iç ve dış mekan süslemeleri bugün bile hala göz alıcı. Yapı iki adet avlu ve bunların etrafında sıralanmış bölümlerden meydana geliyor. Sarayda 366 oda mevcutmuş ve ilginç olan yanlardan biride bu sarayın o dönemde merkezi ısıtma sistemine sahip olması. Bunun doğruluğunu bugün binanın taş duvarları arasındaki boşluklar ispatlamakta. Her odada taştan yapılmış ocaklar mevcut. Merasim salonunu bugün bile gördüğünüzde hemen diğer salonlardan ayırt edebiliyorsunuz. Göz alıcı mermer işçiliği ve kemerli sütünları ile güzelliğini sergiliyor. Saray birinci ve ikinci avlu, cami binası, aşevi (Darüzziyafe), hamam, harem dairesi, merasim salonu, takkapılar, cephanelik, türbe binası, fırın ve zindanlardan oluşmakta. Sarayın alt katında bulunan zindanlara bugün bile girince insan kendini kötü hissediyor. Bu ışıksız dar alanlardan kimbilir haklı veya haksız kimler gelip geçti. Saray restorasyondan geçmiş ve çöken tavan kısımları yapıya hiç yakışmayan modern bir şekilde camla kapatılmış. Ülkede bu kadar arkeolog ve sanat tarihçi varken restorasyon işlerini hiç anlamadıkları halde sanırım torpilli mütahitler yapıyor.

İshak Paşa Sarayını yukarıdan seyretmek için karşısındaki tepede çay bahçesi ile lokanta arasında bir tesis var. Bu tepeden, içinde bir zamanlar görkemli davetlerin verildiği, paşaların yaşadığı, bahçesinde cariyelerin dolaştığı İshak Paşa Saray manzarasına karşı çayınızı yudumlayabilirsiniz.

Avrupa’yı görmekten sıkıldım artık uzaklara gidip derinlere dalayım derseniz, Caretta Tur firmasının turları tam size göre. Geziler dalış ve sualtı fotoğrafı ağırlıklı. Rize, Ambarlı Yaylası, Gito Yaylasının biraz üzerinde çıkılan ikinci yayladır. Bu göçdeki amaç hayvanların daha çok ot bulmasıdır. Yaylacılar önce Gito’ya gelir orada bir süre kaldıktan sonra ikinci yayla olan Ambarlıya çıkarlar. Yaz sonuna doğru yine Gito’ya inip birkaç gün burada kaldıktan sonra aşağı doğru asıl göç başlar. Bu göç yıllar önce yayan olarak yapılırmış. Komşular toplaşıp yemekler yaparlarmış ve Gito’ya çıkmak birkaç gün sürermiş. Bu birkaç gün tam bir eğlenceymiş. Geceleri ateşler yakılıp şarkılar söylenir, horon tepilirmiş, yemekler hazırlanıp tam bir şölen sofrası kurulurmuş. Geceleri sürüleri vahşi hayvanlardan korumak için nöbetler tutulurmuş. Ambarlıya çıkış yine aynı şekilde hayvanlarla birlikte ve yayan olurmuş.

Günümüzde artık Gito’ya çıkış araçla birkaç saat oradan Ambarlı’ya ulaşmakda bir saat sürüyor. Fakat yaylada bugün bile hala yürümeniz gereken yerler var. Eğer tepelerdeki buzul göllerini görmek istiyorsanız 2,5 saat dik yokuş tırmanışını, 2 saat süren inişi, göze almanız gerekiyor. Göreceğiniz güzellikleri düşününce, Ambarlı’ya gidip mutlaka bu yürüyüşü yapmalısınız diye düşünüyorum. Bunun için yanınızda bir rehberin olması en doğru karar olur. Eğer Gito’da Serhan’ın Koçira Pansiyonunda kalırsanız orada çalışan veya çalışıyormuş gibi yapan arkadaşlardan bir tanesi size severek eşlik edecektir. İki yıldır bu pansiyona gidip, gelmeme rağmen bu arkadaşlar burada çalışıyormu yoksa tatilmi yapıyor anlayamadım.

Tırmanış için Ambarlı Yaylasına arabayla gelip ordan sonra başlıyorsunuz tabana kuvvet yürümeye. Bu tip yürüyüşler için en ideal destek baton kullanmak. Baton için doğa sporları mağazalarında 10 TL den başlayıp yukarı doğru giden bir çok alternatif bulabilirsiniz. Tırmanış yoluna uzaktan baktığınızda bazen kolaymış diyorsunuz bazende kayan taşların üzerinde dik bir yamaçda kalınca ne yapacağınızı şaşırıyorsunuz. Fakat benim bu tırmanışlarda hep hissettiğim şey, ben şu anda çok özel bir yerdeyim ve çok keyifli bir iş yapıyorum, bir çok insanın yapamayacağı ve göremeyeceği yerleri görüyorum oluyor. Buda beni hedefe kilitliyor.

İlk tırmandığımız göl veya göller üç göller olarak adlandırılıyor. Bu göllerin isimleri Taraklı, Sandıklı, ve Kuzu gölleri olarakda anılıyor yükseklik 2800 metre. Gölleri yakından görüp biraz daha yukarı doğru tırmandığınızda tepeden üçünü birden fotoğraflayabilirsiniz. Üç göllerden sonra yaklaşık 10-15 dakikalık bir tırmanışla Mohorcok Gölüne ulaşıyorsunuz. Buradan yaklaşık 15 dakika daha tırmanıp en güzel göl olan Balıklı Göle ulaşılıyor. Burada yükseklik 3000 m bu gölde insanlar olta ile balık avlıyorlar. Dağın başında bir göl ve içi balık kaynıyor. Bizde ayakkabılarımızı çıkarıp tırmanışdan dolayı sızlayan ayaklarımızı gölün buz gibi sularında dinlendiriyoruz. Bu göllerin hepsinin etrafı dağlarla çevrili ve göller bulutların üzerinde kalıyorlar. Zaman zaman arkanıza dönüp baktığınızda kendinizi gölün yanında ama bulutların üzerinde buluyorsunuz. O andaki özgürlük hissi ve keyif anlatılacak gibi değil. Lütfen bir gün mutlaka gidip bu güzellikleri yaşayın. Hemde ertelemeden yaşlanmadan bunu hemen yapın.

Balıklı gölden sonra isterseniz dahada ziveye tırmanabilirsiniz veya geri dönüp Gito’nun üst kısmında gün batımı izleyebilirsiniz. Biz geri dönmeyi tercih ettik dönüş yolunda görülmesi gereken bir göl daha var oda Zuha Deresinin Gölü. Bu gölden sonra aşağı iniş yaklaşık 1 saat sürüyor. İnmekde en az çıkmak kadar insanı yoruyor. Çünkü kaymamak için kendinizi sürekli tutarak inmeniz gerekiyor. Ambarlı’ya indiğinizde gün batımına biraz zaman varsa mutlaka yaylada dolaşıp fotoğraf çekmeyi deneyin. Eğer güzel bir ise altınızda mutlaka bir bulut denizi olacaktır. Bulut denizini fotoğraflamak kadar seyretmekte çok keyifli makinanız yoksa gözünüzle fotoğraf çekip bir ömür boyu bunu hafızanızda saklayabilirsiniz.

It is a nice district of Edirne. 285 km to Istanbul and 170 km to Edirne. Beside it is 21 km to Ipsala which is border discrict with Greece. If you want to go there from Istanbul you should turn to Kesan and than to Enez side, after 60 km you reach to Enez. It is also possible to go Enez with Kesan Birlik Bus company they have round tour every day.

For summer holiday, 4 km Altınkum coast can choice with clean coast and there are some places to see around this place. This place is calm and clean. Coast goes so long and calm beaches open to public. You have your own beach with your own mattress and sunshade.

In center of Enez there is a antique city in the castle, you can visit this place in 15 minutes. According to sources this place name written as Ainos at the history. This city builded 7500 years ago. It is rebuilt in B.C 7th century again and taken the name Ainos. In 1456 city belonged to Ottoman Empire.

Biggest characteristic thing of Enez is at one side sea and on the other side is lake. Lake and sea water mix with eachother this brings fresh water and sea water fishes at the same place. Snake fish hunting very often at Meriç River and Gala Lake, these fishes are exporting to Italy mostly. Enez fishermen had a cooperative to sale their fishes to the world.

Gala Lake is a bird paradise 10 km to Enez center which should be seen in the summer and winter time. If you are nature lover you should go to listen birds concert there. To see all type of birds together, ideal time is spring (April-May) or autum (September-October). These times are birds movement times you can have a visual feast. Even if you go to in July or August you see more than 20 different type of birds. Sometimes a tern or cormorant suddenly comes out from the water this emotion takes you to another world and you forget everything belongs to this world. In the lake there is another nice thing is cows they are accompany of the birds. These cows have different creamy color which I did not see before, they are together in the water with pelicans and swans. This nice view is just like a wall picture. You can see following birds here in the summer time; tern, white tern, pelican, stork, swan, lapwing and many others.

If you would like to have cheap price for accomodation you can stay at teacher’s house. But this teacher’s house is not like the others. There is no bath room and wc in the rooms. You should use them collective. I should say that rooms are clean but toilets are so dirty. If you think only for one night you can stay here. When you go to Enez center you will see meatball restaurants surrounded you. You can have meatball from the cutted meat (fat), meatball from butcher meat (a bit fat), or Tekirdag meatball. Enez center is very small you can see all your alternitives therefore I don’t give restaurant names.

Harran at a distance 40-45 km to Sanliurfa, if you would like to take good photos you should be there in the morning early. It takes half hour to go there from Urfa. At the beginning of a flat plain a wall appeared behind the walls there were ruined houses and the people here have seen with motorcycles. After a small tour we return to the center and asked how to discover around here, just at that time Mahmut sow us and he offered to be our guide there. He has ability to explain about history and around in 4 different languages. We had agreed with him at a certain amount after bargain. First we went to world’s first known University of Harran University. Unfortunately, today, there is only a tower and a belt, back from this university. However, I can say it is still impressive. Building constructed from the local stones. Tower which is still standing, were use as observatory during that time. At the time, there were many scientists graduated from this university; Bettani El-Harrani, Sabit Bin Kurra, Ibni Teymiyye a few of them.

After Harran University we passed to the famous Harran houses. In this area external and internal images are very interesting belong the houses. Our guide Mahmut has taken us a house here. Today nobody living at this house it is use as a museum. There are a few rooms in the house and a few furniture in the garden as we use to see in the Southeast a wooden howdah and wooden goods. You can drink tea here and wear costumes in the house to take picture with them. You can toward to the neighborhood and take pictures on the roof of conical domed houses. These houses are cool in the summer time and very warm in the winter time but it is difficult to live and maintenance to these houses. Therefore today local people prefer to live in concrete houses. Houses dated B.C VI. Century. Through the neighborhood you can reach the castle which is dated to Umayyad time. Part of the castle has managed to come up today. When you enter to Harran the children of the region gathering around you, if you whish you can use several of them as model to take photo and give them some money to buy chocolate. We did this and it was fun for us to take their photos. Do not try to take photos all of them, at that time you should give a lot of money. Believe me they are a lot. We learned from our guide that there are some caves near to Harran we decided to go Bazda Caves. The cave distance to Harran is 16 km. definitely you should go there and take some photos there is very good light in the cave. On the way of cave you will see nice landscapes. Desolation of the area and caves on the mountains give a bit fear but at the same time is a little pleasure of seeing these places. Bazda Cave formation is based on very old time. Stone blocks have been removed from this cave to build Suayip and Han El-Barur cities. Today you see in the cave very large columns.

According to the local people expression that, despite they walked half a day but they couldn’t see end of the cave. It is very big cave you can’t find the end easily. From the middle of cave there is sky light comes in side this light hit the walls, columns and makes dispersion. There are some Arabic inscription on the wall of the cave belongs to 13^th century. Outside of the cave there is a village, appearance like abandoned with mud brick houses. We learned from a person in the village that villagers use these houses only in the summer time. Our time came to go to Mardin, we farewell to Bazda cave.

First of all I would like to begin by writing Gaziantep is very authentic. Our first place was famous Tahmis Café. As a word, meaning of the Tahmis is sold place of roasted and ground coffee. This coffeehouse one of the shops has been built in the Ottoman period to provide income to Mevlevihane. Today, this please operated by the same family, business taken from father to son by almost 80-90 years. You feel immediately different atmosphere when you go in to the cafe. At an Anatolian city, women can come to café which is normally belonging to men and they can drink something comfortably. At this place young generation and women usually sit in the mezzanine, at the lower floor regular customers sit. You can drink special menengi coffe or thyme tea here. Menengi is a specific type of coffee belong to Tahmis, it is making from a plant seed, called citlenbik, coffe obtained by beating of seed. You can get photo of regular customers at the lower floor. It looks everyone is familiar with the situation.

On the left side of the coffeehouse there is Gaziantep bazaar. The shops are restored here. When you enter in to semi-closed bazaar you feel like going to another time. One side, fires scorched iron been beaten, from the other shop you hear hammer sounds meeting with copper in master hands. Tradesmen very friendly and open to chat, they don’t give reaction while you try to take their photos. Of course, always exceptional thing can be happen.

Bazaar divided to a few arms. There are sings at the entrance of each arm like coppersmiths, tobacconist etc. When you enter the streets of yemeniciler (kind of shoe maker) you will see a sign. It is written Hayri Usta, all shoes of the Troy film produced in this store. There is a signed photo by Brad Pitt on the wall and writing thank you for the shoes. There are many boots and shoes around reminiscent of the past century. We wanted to see the workshop. We meet there a soft-spoken master he explains us that he made this job since 70 years. He said that, he can produce only 13-14 pair shoes per day. Each of them needs different craftsmanship, we have taken photo of them.

There is very interesting place the name is Sehrekustu in this region, yarn manufacturing is done in the caves. The first cave, a small place, this was Sanko Holding’s first place. Today, it seems this place abandoned but in the cave, children are still continue to work. I suggest you to go big cave it is more interesting then small one we learned that it is used as film set also. You see a lot of children they go to right and left in a large cave, you think at the beginning like, what is this? They try to make yarn by they twisted on the winder. They call them self as winder. This yarn use to tie up cotton bales. Raw materiel comes from Denizli and they sent to Adana when they finished. Ones upon a time there were many caves to do this job but with high technology there are only two caves today.

There is a very good restaurant in Sehrekustu with affordable prices. Altintel restaurant only a hundered meters to caves. This restaurant is very large, clean and with luxurious appearance will surprise you with the cheapest prices. As in every place in Gaziantep you should absolutely eat kebab and baklava. In side of the baklava full with peanuts, I can say that everywhere in Antep baklava was beautiful. Altintel address and phone: Zekeriya mihal Cengiz Topel Caddesi Sokak No: 5 Sehrekustu (near the Tomb of Ali Baba) tel: 0342 226 46 46. Another famous place is in the market, Imam Cagdas Restaurant. This is a nice place, but prices also comparatively expensive. If you ask this restaurant in the bazaar you will find easily. Baklava’s most delicious place is Kor Kenan place. I really can say we have tasted here most delicious baklava of Antep. It is just opposite of Gaziantep stadium. Address: Yaprak mahallesi istasyon street No:70/C Sehitkamil. Phone: 0342 230 45 24. A small note, this place is open 24 hours. I should also warn you about kebab, do not try if you are not resistant to hot. Also in this region lamb meet using for the kebab.

You can visit Duluk ancient city before you leave from Gaziantep it is only 10 km to the city. Here are the underground cities and caves. But yet two of the caves open to visitors, excavation was still continue when we been there. Obviously this place can be last option to see because there aren’t many places to see yet. If you like taking photos you can go to Duluk train station and take nice photos of abandoned building with children playing around the train station.

There are a few Karagol’s in different locations of Turkey. Karagol, which I try to write about it, is in Sakarya’s, Tarakli district distance to district is 21 km. This is created as an artificial pond in Karagol Plateau although it is in a beautiful forest area does not look artificial. To come Karagol from Taraklı you should go to Mahdumlar Village side after a few junction you can reach the lake. I suggest you to ask way to the villager which you will passed. Mayor of Taraklı Mr. Tacettin Özkaraman said us that they still continuo water transfer to pond. They plan to put fresh water fish in the pond. Indeed, fishes are purchased already, but at the moment they have diseased fish were trying to improve. After a while here on the weekends you can go to fishing. When spring comes around, the lake surrounds by daisy like lacy. Lying on the grass here and watch the awakening of nature is very fun.

In general, the way of Karagol is ok but some places are soil however you can come with a normal passenger car. But, a few hundred meters away to Karagol there is a very bad place water comes to the way and makes a big hole on the way. I suggest you to live your car here and walk last 200-300 meters. When we been there Istanbul Technical University students bus were fall over but driver was so good and saved them.

Able to walk around the lake, but from time to time may have to switch from the forest often grows in some parts. In a place which we went the water was blocking passage, but we have put in here a tree, your bridge is ready for the next time. If you want to be in the nature for the weekend it is ideal place. But please take your foods from Taraklı otherwise you should go back 21 km. There is nothing to eat.

This plateau has all the beauty of nature in it and about 180-190 km to Istanbul. To come here from Istanbul you should use TEM or E-5 highway if you use TEM you should turn to Kaynasli side and continue to Bolu direction. When you start climbing to Bolu mountain way, on the right side you’ll see Ismail’s place and Dursun’s place in front of Dursun’s place turn to right. If Ismail and Dursun close their places, years later you should ask to someone way of plateau. When you turn right from Dursun’s place you will find your self into the village. You will climb to plateau with your car a little bit of the soil and a bit asphalt road. Plateau at a height of 1300 meters.

There is a pond in the plateau. This is post created water source. Each side of the pond is covered with forests. In silence it is possible to listen several different bird sounds. It is possible to hunt trout from the pond. Most of the people here, came from Giresun and had settled. The most ideal way to stay in Plateau to establish a tent or take advantage iglos. Iglo houses been sent to help in the earthquake to Düzce. Villages put them here after they used. Iglo has the windows and a metal entrance door. There is no toilet in them next to these houses there are container toilets. To rent these houses you should contact with Bıçkıyanı Village headman. I say rent but actualy nobody ask you to pay rent you just contact someone and tell your holiday date. If you call him before you go there you can have your full day meals there with different menu alternatives.

If you like taken photo of butterflies and bees this place is very ideal for this. You can walk into the forest which covered by the trees there are small paths to walk. Gezenbilir club noticed this and prepared an off road race held with 21 jeeps. We had 2 good days with canoe races and with other sporting activities here. Gezenbilir fully established with amateur team spirit and still continuo with these beauty people they get power to do nice things in this association all together. Aytepe is like a paradise it is very green you will see different shades of the green there, it is close to Istanbul. This place is only 130 km to Istanbul and 26 km to Izmit. If you go from Istanbul you should turn to Kandira, Izmit sign, then to Yalova side and follow Kullar sign. You should ask for Yuvacik in Kullar but don’t worry the way will take you there easily.

When you come to barrage I suggest you to stop and look around. You will find your self in the middle of the greens. There is an asphalt road on the dam you can pass with your vehicle. But for Aytepe you should continue from the side of the dam. On the asphalt road you would climb to the top slowly. Way time to time reminds paths of the eastern Black Sea plateau but not so steep. The vast majority of people who have settled here from the Eastern Black Sea settlement, the reasons to move here I think people create plenty of greenery and a steep terrain like Eastern Black Sea.

There is a roadside restaurant on the way this place only 1.5 km away from Aytepe, you can have a break here if you want to sit down under the trees and enjoy the silence. But when you actually go up to Aytepe silence begins. Path road in forest you follow signs referring to orient yourself. Conducted a few hours here, you should definitely leave your vehicle, to enjoy the beautiful sounds of the forest and bird. From time to time plateau and fog crashes, in the fog you can meet with a shepherd and the herd. Silence for those who like hiking in weekends this is the place to go. In the meantime, while you climb to Aytepe you will see panoramic Izmit view. On the way there is a restaurant where you can watch the scenery.

After spend a few hours here and if you want to eat something I will invite you a place like a paradise. Karaaslan Trout Plants. Definitely a place you will feel like you are somewhere in the middle of the Black Sea. There are wooden tables on the brook side tables have wooden tent on them. You can have your food at indoor place if you wish. To listen bird sounds absolutely magnificent place therefore I recommend you to have your food outside. Phone 0262 345 01 01

Restaurant has some Black Sea foods, you can have other options such as chicken, meatball. Moreover, you can accommodate in this beauty in summer and winter times. All the buildings are not concrete in the facility therefore it has warm atmosphere. Food prices per person in a reasonable level it is around 10 $. If you want discover environment by jeep or ATV facility provides such a service. ATV rental for 1 hour per person 35 $, Jeep rent per person 30 $ you go for 2-3 hours. To spend a day in the green Aytepe is a ideal location.

Ida Mountain spread a wide area and this area has most abundant oxygen in the forests of Turkey. If you would like to be in the middle of this nature place you can set up tents and sleeping with bird sounds and wake up with bird sounds. Let me warn you when you turn back to city it will be torture for you to live there. Ones you see this place you want to be free in nature forever. I’ll try to explain Mihli River region, Bas Degirmen and Hasan Boguldu Lake. This place is about 430 km to Istanbul.

Hasan Boguldu is the first stop. Here is a completely paradise when nobody is there. A waterfall flowing over the middle of the forest, beautiful sound of birds chirping and the sun shining, imagine that you’re there. This place call Sutuven Waterfall, if you walk approximately 500 m from this place you will see Hasan Boguldu Lake. This lake certainly natural and interesting. There is love story about this lake. Briefly, two lowers can’t reach each other and they die on the side of this lake.

Camping area is in the Basdegirmen if you go there along you can come back that you think is the way is finished but don’t give up drive your car in to the river. This part is a bit like Camel Trophy. You will reach to place full by olive trees. When you come to the side of water you will receive your reward. There is a wooden bridge on the river and a stony soil way to continue. I suggest you leave your car here and walk. During water side tables, small wooden shed was built on the water. At the end you will see the miller which gives name to this area Basdegirmen, today some part of it destroyed. Next to the mill there is a half moon stone bridge, still standing with all the magnificence and the beautiful reflections in water. Bridge dated to Roman period, today abandoned mill building were using as prison during that time, then used as mill. Today, inside of the mill has nice light to use to take photos with beautiful walls.

Don’t go to camping area, with toilet and electricity expectation. There is a toilet stone surrounded by a wall around, that is all. Food for dinner change according to your capability. First you had a fire then you make skewer from the trees cook the sausages on it. Before dinner you can put some beer, coke or something else in to cold river water and drink together with dinner. After dinner owner of the place Mr. Hasanaki begins night program with Egyptian Ahmet. Ahmet playing clarinet and singing song, he is some of our black citizens. Hasanaki well spoken person. You sign with them there all the night when you stop birds are singing in stead of you.

In the night everybody is trying to sleep in their tent with this fresh air. In the morning you weak up very early because of fresh air. When you look at to out side from your tent you see a flying falcon on the air. Next to your tent a neighbor makes a fire and make to tee on embers. You can’t buy this fun and these moments by money you should be there to live this.

If you say that you can’t stay in the tent but want to be in forest, I recommend you to stay very cute boutique hotel close here. When you go in from the Hera Hotel you understand that this hotel decorated by a woman. There are only 12 rooms. We have a long chat with the owner, they want to make a tour for the photographers to show the environment. To see around another option is rent a safari jeep with driver. This cost for the full day tour 30 $ you can do this with 6-7 people. It is including lunch and guidance to this price. Syria was colony of France until 1946 after this year country become free and today it is Syria Republic. Today many people in the country still speak French. It is very easy to go there by car from Turkey. You can pass from Hatay, Cilvegozu border gate. If you want to go abroad with your car you have to pay some extras for insurance which will be valid only for limited days like during your visit to that country. You must do addendum on your insurance policy. All these paper works cost, approximately 350 usd. If you go with a few friends than it will be cheaper than plane. However, in Syria drivers are driving like crazy. From an intersection or cross street someone suddenly can jump in front of your car. The vast majority of vehicles old and almost all crooked. There is one more way to go Syria from Gaziantep. It only cost for 3 or 4 days 155 – 165 € including visa, transportation, bed and breakfast accommodation. I suggest you to contact with Altinoluk Turizm or with Turhande. If you make plans early you can find cheap tickets to Antep from Pegasus airlines. Which is around 21 €.

Damascus is very impressive place. The traders told me that if you visit ones Syria you want to come back here again. Damascus houses were made of large stone blocks. These stones like light yellowish color. The images of these buildings into the city, so beautiful. But these beautiful images in the regions, where Muslims and Christians lived in common, or just in Christian region. Unfortunately, the homes of local Muslims are unpainted and streets full with rubbish also narrow streets soil instead of asphalt, dirty water leaks on the way. In general people are very pure. We visited one Muslim family there was no armchair to seat on, we seated on cushions. A taxi driver told us that in this country government can’t give the retirement salary therefore people should work until they die. In general Christian populations are more reach than Muslim people.

Damascus market is quite authentic. Usually sold in the stores hand-made things. Plenty of pear inlaid jewelry boxes, pearly mirrors and silk shawls you will see. Pearl inlaid products were exported from Syria to Istanbul. You will often see in the shops water pipes. In Syria everybody even young generation drinks water pipe after dinner or lunch.

Shopping’s biggest address is Hamidiye Bazaar. It was built in 1863 by Sultan Adbülhamit Han (Ottoman Sultan). It is quite colorful bazaar. There are a lot of things from food to clothing here. It continues nearly 1 km. At the end of bazaar there are two columns and a part of the wall belongs to a historical building. In the evening with lights they give different atmosphere to bazaar. At the end of this market there is Emevi Mosque. This is the largest and most magnificent mosque of Syria. This building built on to St. Johanna church by Emevi’s. Therefore today this building is important for Muslims and Christians. If any women want to see inside of the mosque she should be wearing black sheets. In many mosques and tombs in Syria have these rules. This sheet given you at the entrance by directore.

There are some places back yard of Emevi Mosque named Bab Arki and Bab Tuma regions. In these regions generally Christian people are lives. Here, while walking in the narrow streets you will see houses with wood and oriel. Some houses are now used as restaurant or cafe. Inside of them are quite authentically furnished. I recommend you see this part of City. There is Damascus train station which builds in the Ottoman period near to Hamidiye bazaar. It is quite interesting place to see. However, according to the latest news train station will become a five star hotel.

There is one more interesting place to see. This place is tomb of Zeynep, who is Prophet Mohammed’s grandson. The name of the place is Seyyide Zeynep Mosque. This is an incredibly impressive place. In side construction was covered with bright stones. Large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling is shining. When you go in you feel like some one just dead and funeral of the person. Many women do struggle in tears. When I asked why, they explained that while Prophet Family moves to another place their enemies killed whole family members in Kerbela area. Zeynep sow these entire massacre, these people feel them guilty because they couldn’t prevent it they expressed.

In the evening if you want to see Damascus from the hill you should go to Kasyon hill. You would see almost the entire city from this hill. I guess you should go there via taxi there is no other option. But taxis are quite cheap in Syria. There are fine restaurants and cafes in this hill. The vast majority come here to drink water pipes.

Every where is interesting in Syria. Even if you walk in the streets all day, you see a lot of beauty. Just as in India, some buses colored paint. There is a little arabesque wind you feel. There are places you can drink coffee in the bazaar is quite authentic. One of them at the end of Hamidiye Bazaar on the way of Emevi Mosque. It is on the narrow street, outside of it covered with marble this coffee house takes you from today to Ottoman time. Here the elderly people reads newspapers and drink water pipe on the other side the tourists are sitting drinking coffee with their modern clothes.

There is a nice hotel very close to Hamidiye bazaar the name is Royal Suites Royal Suites. Here you can rent a suit 3 or 4 people can stay the same suit. Approximate price is 90 usd per night for a small suit. It is comfortable for 3 may be 4 people. Beyond the estimates hotel has very luxurious and clean. There is a fridge and kitchen with full equipment in the suit, you can cook here if you wish. This place 140 km to Konya but it is one of the district of Konya. It wants to become a city. After I sow many beautiful thinks there I think it deserve this.

There is a men who gave his hurt to presentate Eregli Mr. Memduh Ekici. He organize photograghers meeting since 2 years every May. This activity will continou every year after this. If you ask what is there to see, first think

comes to my mind thankfulness day. Every May villagers (400-500 person) come together down at hill, they cook rice and meat and serve them with yoghurt. If the year is good for rain they thank the god if not they pray to god send more rain for the next year. They a specially gather down at the hill because rain comes from the hill. Villagers don’t let you leave from this area if you don’t eat something. Everybody asks you if you had something to eat. This shows very nice Turkish hospitality. I thanked to god one more time that I live such a beautiful country like this.

Near Eregli in Karapinar district obruks are interesting. These are big holes and consist fall down of the ground by the underground waters. Some of them full with water. But it is interesting they always fall down as circle shape. You can see some of them at Çıralı, Meyil and Gölhöyük. If you go there spring time and if you like taking photos you get nice sunset silhouette photos with sheeps.

You of course know that you should get photo of Meke Lake in Karapinar district with sunrise and sunset. Meke gives very nice photos at sunrise and sunset. If you go to spring time you can get photos of storks with their reflection in the Meke Lake. After sunrise they start flying on the top of Meke.

If you have chance to rent a jeep you must go to see wild horses at the hillside of Toros Mountains. This travel takes by car approximiately 2 hours from Eregli but certainly it worth it. Maybe You will see these wild horses only one time in your life. If you go there your jeep will stuck in the snow sometimes or you will pass from the mountain waters you will find your self in to adventure. When you reach up to hills you will see wild horses. But be carefull when they see you they run a way. This is the moment you should watch them. Their freely runings, whinny voices and passing from the middle of snows. All these moments are unbelievable impressive. You forget everything belongs to your life you just concentrated to that moment. On the way you will see many different birds don’t miss to watch them and take their photo too.

Which is very delicious, this cook with raw meat and wheat. They cut these two for a while than give meat ball shape and cook. But maybe you can’t find this in every where this was prepared for us a specially.

First of all I want to thank to our friends whom lives in Maraş they made a convoy with us in Maraş. When you go to the Anatolian cities you become happy to see there is unchanged people and happy to see human

emotions of people is not lost. During our visit to Antep we decided to go Maraş, which is only 80 km from Antep. These cities connected between with very smooth asphalt. But there is an optional way, this way a little haughty a mountain road with bends. You can use both ways they don’t take very long.

When you come to Maraş I believe first think will be discover the market. This is another world, almost magical. When I say shop you think many shops side by side but these shops are not ordinary each of them keeps an artist in it. Even some of men are 80 – 85 years old but they still work. Mostly they are master copper smith. A master proud to say that his big boilers exporting to other countries. He said that these are using to make vodka in it or sometimes for decoration. While you take their photos you can spend hours here, because they don’t let you go if you don’t drink their tea and chat with them.

From the market when you go to old houses side you will get smell of history from the houses. At the entrance of Divanli area you will see a mill between the houses which is still works. Then you will meet with the children they play in front of old houses with their colorful clothes. Houses were usually built large here, a small house would start from 130 square meters. We learned that Maraş People like big houses. The small 130 square meters houses are in market place and generally they are cheap. At the end of the day we were guests in the house it was 240 square meters big house. I was just asking why this much big houses, suddenly when the bell ringed, a relative group of about 10 people came. Relatives continue the relationship was intense, and sometimes large families were living together. In this case square meter of the houses goes up to 500. Rent is between 240 usd and 400 usd around.

Some shops windows will get your attention it is written tarhana and firik on them. Firik is making mix of yoghurt and wheat. They sear this mix under the sun and send to shop daily to eat together, almond, nut or with pistachio. If they can’t sell it at the same day, they keep dry a bit longer than they make soup from this mix. Local Maraş people eat this firik usually in summer. If you’d like to see how to make a firik you can go to watch a factory, they let you in.

Just outside the city in a neighborhood they were chalet houses built. We couldn’t visit them because of our limited time. But we learned that there are nice old houses to see. Another place worth to seeing Menzelet Barrage and at the same region Ali Kayasi.

If you don’t like to eat sheep meat there is a restaurant named as Kucuk Ev offers you beef meat kebab. After lunch you should go to eat famous Maras ice cream at famous place MADO. This pastry named in Maras as Yasar Pastry. You can have ice cream with baklava (Baklava is a Turkish dessert) and you can only eat ice cream if you cut with knife.
