After spending about a month with Wordpress, I felt completely confused as to how to make my blog there run good! I barely got any feedback/comments from any user, and just didnt enjoy posting fashion without others there to enjoy it with me!! Whats the point of a blog without others feedback? I dont want to be just an invisible blog with no meaning and no traffic!! I want my readers to enjoy my posts, because I have a lot to say about fashion and hope to meet people who love fashion as much as I do!!!
Heres what I want for this blog:
-Every friday I will post interesting articles/links from other blogs/sites. They will be called 'Friday Fixations.'
-I will post a look from lookbook.nu that I love the most with the Friday Fixations.
-I will usually post images, and not as much text, because I prefer to focus on the fashion itself than rather read about my opinions on it. I dont like to post fashion news as much. But I will provide links each day of the week for the latest fashion updates.

So I was on WWD, and found 42 sketches of what todays fashion designers ideas for Michelle Obamas inauguration gown. I think its exciting that we have an actual fashionable woman in the office, that all the designers want to dress.
I thought many were very wonderful and elegant, and others i thought were not elegant at all.

even though it kind of gives away who is going to win Season 5 of Project Runway, I really am hoping for Leanne to win. She is very talented,and so sophisticated in her designs.I am also routing for her because she has clothing here in Portland Oregon, where i live so go Portland designers!! Here is her video from NY Fashion Week thanks newsday blog.
Jerell, Suede, and all the rest were not impressive at all to me. Not at all. They were so unfitting, and had too many ideas. Leanne really stuck to one thing, and it was beautiful.

So as my usual perusing of bloggers and blog sites continued late into the early morning today,I found this idea of some bloggers tagging people and writing random things about themselves.Since I have no one to tag,Ill skip to the facts part instead.If you want to tag me,I will give you a cookie,and an e-hug. Deal?Cool.

here are my facts:

+ I count stairs when i walk up/down them.(It drives me CRAZY!)

+ I bite my lip constantly,so to fix it,i put carmex on it,cuz it tastes horrible

+ When i get out of the shower,I will not,ever,go a day without putting lotion on

+ I subscribe to 4 fashion magazines,and keep them..forever.(I am addicted!)

+ I have never once sat on the toilet in public restrooms or other peoples house

+ I write in pen. Only pen.Im obsessive compulsive like that

+ My favorite pie is Banana Cream and Cherry Pie

+ I never sleep without a light on

+ My ring size is 4 (the smallest)

I began looking at the collections early this afternoon, and watched some coverage on BCBG Max Azria. Very draped, very colorful. Very spring oriented collection that was full of color. It was simple, but fun for spring 09.

so right now,im feeling really tense and anxious to the core. I dont know why, I think it might be the sugar honesty. Im gonna get my monthly routine soon, so that has contributions too. Gah. I hate being like this.All strung up, wanting some comfort, but not gonna get any. I wish i was with Nate right now. Id kill to be near him right now. Im like, feeling mad,but have no reason to be mad. Im feeling stressed, but have no reason to. There is something else i want too right now, but i cant remember. I just know that i want it REALLY badly. Like, its right there, and i can never reach it cuz there is something in the way. But the thing in the way, is a good thing.. so that makes it even harder.

Why do i always get stuck in these situations?

Damnit.

HUSSEIN CHALAYAN:

was born in nicosia, cyprus in 1970.
chalayan is an internationally regarded fashion designer
who is renowned for his innovative use of materials,
meticulous pattern cutting and progressive attitude to new
technology. he was educated both in cyprus and england,
at london's strict highgate boarding school.
in 1993 he graduated from london's central st martins college
of art and design. he caused a sensation with his graduate
collection - decomposed silk dresses he had buried and exhumed.
since then he has produced more than 20 collections and
twice been crowned british designer of the year (1999, 2000).
chalayan is inspired by architectural theories, science
and technology. he famously produced a collection
which included chairs and tables that became garments.
he has been involved in numerous international exhibitions,
including ‘radical fashion’ at the V&A victoria & albert museum
in london (1997), ‘fashion’ at the kyoto costume institute
in japan (1999), ‘airmail clothing’ at the musée de la mode
palais du louvre in paris (1999), the istanbul biennial (2001) and
'godess: the classical mode' at the museum of modern art
in new york (2003). chalayan has also designed costumes
for opera and dance performances.
hussein chalayan represented turkey at the 51st art biennale
in venice (2005). he was awarded the M.B.E. (member of the
order of the british empire) in the 2006 queen's birthday
honours list for his services to the fashion Industry.

"afterwords" ::

chalayan created a chandelier for the swarovski crystal palace
installation. it is an airplane wing, balancing against a wall.
when its large wing flap moves, a long strip of swarovski
crystals are illuminated by LEDs (2006).: :: airplane dress, spring/summer collection 2000.
it is made from the same material used in aircraft construction
and changes shape by remote control :

is there any designer and/or architect from the past,
you appreciate a lot?
I like parts of what balenciaga does and parts of
comme de garcons house.
I like their approach but it doesn't mean I love every collection.
I think the masters of the 60s were amazing like the
old balenciaga, the old pierre cardin, the old courrèges.
in this era anything goes. they were real masters and
in a way, we're just ... everybody is just doing kind of ...
regurgitating what they've done.
it's about juxtaposing everything that you wouldn't have seen
together in the past.
I like quite a few architects: renzo piano, jean nouvel,
parts of zaha hadid, rem koolhaas and mies van der rohe,
alvar aalto and le corbusier.
quite broad, but again, parts of what they do.

Words of inspiration from Hussein Chalayan:

I would advise young designers to get experience before they approach their own thing. you don't have to have your own label to succeed. you could have a part in an interesting group. the important thing in the design world is to be always thinking of something that isn't already done. otherwise, the ones that are doing it will do it better than you. also, opening to yourself to sort of other things that can inspire design rather than looking at design constantly. you have to expose yourself to other worlds to keep your mind more active.
