They don't have the AJAX support they claim. Nokia N95*, iPod**, and SonyEricsson G502*** works fine with simpler javascripts such as Blendtrans but Thickbox behaved very strange in different ways on all tree devices. I also tried Opera Mobile 8.65 and it couldn't even handle positioning of layers. This makes me believe that maybe Adobe Flash has a shot of becoming the standard for developing web applications for smaller devices. I'm not saying you can't get it to work on the three mentioned devices but you probably will need to make small alterations for each one. Maybe someone could point out to me where I find specifactions of what capability is to be expected from Opera Mini, NetFont 3.5 and Nokia 4.0 browser?

*     Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.2; U; Series60/3.1 NokiaN95/11.0.026; Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 ) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413

**   Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/4A102 Safari/419.3

*** SonyEricssonG502/R1FA Browser/NetFront/3.4 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1

I question myself, is this a good idea? And, yes, it is...!

Another use for the AVIN®(.se) project is to detect if the information you have is accessed by Open Social software or Widgets of all kinds, Google, Apple. This on top of the usual need for detecting the abilities of mobile devices and cell phones. Having this API dealing with all different ways of accessing information you want to be a available to your customers will save a lot of time when new devices and ways are invented and released. /The Avin Crew

AVIN API continued...

Today have we tried implementing Thickbox in our API for using it on iPhones and other phones. As we tried it out we realized that the AJAX support isn't a 100% neither on the Iphone nor the SonyEricsson phone with NetFront 3.4. I must however say that the "photo album" feature is nice (on regular computer though):-).
