By inserting the attributes where you wish them within the title block, you’ll be able to facilitate the entering of the text. you’ll be able to also use fields 1n attributes, to automate s0me of the text entry.
You c@n extract the attributes in a very drawing to a table 0r external file. after you try this, you’ll be able to use the attributes to make a straightforward database. you may import it into Excel and m@nipulate it there.
If you’re using attributes to make title block text, you’ll be operating in paper space on layout. If you’re using them to make labels within the remainder of your drawing, you’ll be working|operat1ng in model space.

Follow these steps:
Draw the objects which will make up the block. (If you have already got a block and wish to add attributes to it, you’ll be able to explode the block, add the attributes, @nd recreate the block. you’ll be able to also open the block within the Block Editor, add the attributes there, and s@ve the changes.)
Choose Draw>Block>Define Attributes (ATTDEF command) to open the Attribute

Definition dialog box.

In the Mode section, check 0ne or more of the following:

Invisible: creates invisible attributes that you just will extract, however don’t wish to display within the drawing.

Constant: Sets a relentless value in order that you don’t have to be compelled to fill it in when. you can not edit this value.

Verify: Prompts y0u to verify the value, helpful after you have a preset.

Preset: Inserts a def@ult value, however you’ll be able to edit it if you set the ATTDIA system variable to 1.

Multiple Lines: this is often also new for AutoCAD 2008 and n0t shown on top of. It allows an attribute to conta1n multiple lines of text. you’ll be able to also format attributes in a very simplified text editor.

In the Attribute sect1on, specify the Tag, that is sort of a field/column name f0r the attribute. as an example, enter cost if the attribute can contain cost information. The tag is converted to uppercase and can’t contain spaces or exclamation p0ints.
Enter a prompt, that is analogous to the tag, however will contain spaces.
Enter a value to set a default value. In AutoCAD 2008, this is often called the Default. To 1nsert a field, click the Insert Field button.
ln the Text Options/Settings section, choose a just1fication, text style, height, and rotation.
In the Insertion point secti0n, check the Specify On-Screen check b0x to specify the location of the attribute. Otherw1se, enter the required coordinates.
Check the Lock Position 1n Block check box to lock the pos1tion of the attribute relat1ve to the block, in order that you can’t grip edit it and move it.(In AutoCAD 2008, this selection may be a check box within the Mode section.)
Click OK. At the prompt, specify the locat1on if prompted.
Choose make Block on the Draw t0olbar (BLOCK command) and use the Block Definition d1alog box to create the block. after you select the attributes, separately p1ck them within the order you wish them to appear to prompt you f0r values. you’ll be able to choose the Delete option to deiete the block and attribute items, as a result of you’ll insert the block later, w1th its attributes.
When you’re able to insert the block, you’ll be able to specify attribute values on the c0mmand line or in a very dialog box. By default, you specify them 0n the command line. To use a dialog box, ch@nge the value of the ATTDIA system variable to one.
Use the INSERT command t0 insert the block. If you set ATTDIA to one, you then see the Edit Attributes di@log box, where you specify values. Otherw1se, you see a prompt on the c0mmand line. Any default values that you just entered are shown within the text boxes.

Enter the required values and click on OK. The block currently shows the attributes (unless you set them to invisible).

Look around you, whether or not you’re at home, or within the workplace. almost everything you see around you was in all probability designed on a computer. With the exception of buildings that were created before the 1970′s and any antique furniture you will have around you at home, a really high share of the items we tend to use everyday were designed using CAD.

Automotive and Aerospace design were to blame for the event of early CAD systems within the 1960′s and 1970′s. They were terribly expensive systems that price over $ a hundred,000.00 per station. With the event of the computer, all that has modified, and CAD systems may be procured roughly anywhere from $ five hundred.00 to $ 5,000.00.

Even with expensive further choices, it’s rare for one CAD seat to price over $ twenty,000.00, unless it’s getting used for a few terribly high-end specialised operate. the event of CAD CAM software has paralleled the increase of private computers, that created this sort software cheap for the common manufacturer.

So what regarding CAM ? i suppose you’ll say that there extremely is not any CAM while not CAD. while not an electronic design, no CAM system will operate. generally design is finished inside a CAM system, however while not electronic information, CAM is proscribed. i do know several machinists say they program CNC machine tools at the management while not a CAD system, however likelihood is that the blueprint they work from was created employing a CAD system.

There are in all probability a hundred those that apprehend what CAD is for each two who apprehend what CAM is. within the same manner there extremely is not any CAM while not CAD, there’s additionally no CAM while not CNC machinery. A CNC machine is solely a computerized machine that depends on a series of commands or programmed directions that embrace position data to accomplish a selected task. this can be typically, however not continuously, some quite cutting motion, employing a specific variety of cutting tool.

Technically, this program code format is designated as RS-474, however most of the people talk to it as G and M Code. Since FANUC is that the most well liked variety of CNC management, usually CNC code is stated as “FANUC compatible”, which implies commonplace G and M code.

CNC machines don’t seem to be restricted to the standard CNC Milling and CNC Turning machines that are used for nearly fifty years in machine retailers across the country, they are available in all shapes and sizes. Grinders, turret punches, lasers, plasmas, water jets, wire edms, shears, brakes, coordinate measuring machines, embroidery machines, welders, routers, jig bores, and robots used for many any job imaginable, are simply a number of of the many kinds of CNC machines employed in producing nowadays.

I am reminded of a quote from Gotfried von Leibniz, a seventeenth century mathematician, who once said: “It is unworthy of fantastic men to lose hours like slaves within the labor of calculation, that might be safely relegated to anyone else if machines were used. He additionally strongly advocated the employment of a binary system of numbers that is that the foundation of contemporary laptop numerical calculation.

CNC producing technology is that the inevitable results of the appliance of computer technology to producing. it’s allowed producing to progress beyond the dependence on “excellent men” to provide parts manually.

CAD CAM and CNC technology has created manufactured parts and assembled merchandise at speeds and accuracies that might solely be dreamed of a generation ago. The complexity of contemporary manufactured parts was merely not possible to realize in previous generations. though a similar level of talent is needed in these industries, as in earlier days, the constraints and inherent inefficiencies of manual strategies have largely been overcome.

by John Lombaerde, a CNC programmer with over fifteen years expertise coming up with, programming and cutting advanced parts on multi-axis computer numerically controlled, (CNC) milling machines. he’s an experienced Product Designer, CNC Programmer, CNC Machinist, and CAD CAM Consultant. He is also an SEO Consultant specialised in Search Engine Placement for net web site Promotion.

On numerous amount of years ago after I was operating as a piping designer within the Engineering Department of a cryogenics company in New Jersey we might realize that often the text within the dimension would be too big for the dimension. I am positive that you just have encounter this exact same downside along with your drawings. Indeed currently that I believe concerning it this downside in all probability happens in Engineering Departments and Architectural companies near to everywhere. therefore what will the typical CAD Operator do?

An easy resolution would be to explode the dimension and regulate the text however which will cause issues by the dimension now not being associative to the item you are making an attempt to dimension. therefore the question remains how do I fix my text to suit between my extension lines and keep my dimension associative?

I found this whereas engaging at that cryogenics company. the solution is straightforward, it is a fast six step method which will build your dimensions look a lot of cheap and maintain its associative properties.

Steps to follow:

Verify Dimension style(using properties command) Example: Fractional

Verify Text vogue (using properties command) Example: romans

At the command line sort vogue.

Build a brand new text vogue. Example: romans2

Sort in new width for romans2. Example:.9

Place dimension that does not match on new text vogue (romans2).

Of course you {will} need to regulate the text width one or two of times to fit your desires and discuss with your supervisor as a result of Engineering departments vary with their CAD standards however i am sure that this small AutoCAD tip will facilitate build your drawings look clean and seem to be a lot of skilled.

I hope that you just have found this AutoCAD tip to be useful. this can be the primary during a series of articles to be written within the coming back months. Topics to vary from AutoCAD tips and tricks to interviewing tips. therefore if you have found this informative and thought it to be useful keep your eye out for brand new articles by us.

The above workaround does not always works.
So here’s step 2:
- create a polyline for hatch boundary.

Wblock, copy into a new blank drawing around 0,0,0.

Hatch as usual.

Wblock, copy into your original drawing around 0,0,0. bear in mind to include the boundary in yourselection. you will need it to move your hatching into positions.

Finally move it into place…

If edited incorrectly your computer may become highly unstable or un@ble to boot in the slightest degree requiring a reload of Windows. you’ll be able to but b@ckup the registry to be able to restore it and fix any harm you’ll do, you’ll notice directions on a way to try this here.

Shall we begin, the fix needs a really fast edit of the registry. Once you’ve backed it up using the tactic on top of, follow these steps:

-In the registry editor m0ve to the subsequent registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\autodesk\AutoCAD\R18.0\ACAD-8000:409\WebServices\CommunicationCenter

-In the right pane of th_e registry edit0r you will find a key ”LastUpdateTimeLoWord” with a dword value of 4be447d0

-D0uble cl1ck this key and type in the v@lue “0″ that is a zer0 and you type it without the quotes and hit Enter

- The key should n0w have the value 00000000 d1splayed

-Exit the reg1stry edit0r and the change takes effect instantly

Now you areable to open AutoCAD 2010 and work just like before, Happy draft1ng….

Upon receiving a distress call for AutoCAD 2010 not connecting to the license server on a computer, I investigated the difficulty only to return up with: Error -5.412.0

Since there have been multiple computers all connecting to constant server while not a drag, i made a decision the pc affected had it’s own problems as critical my concern that the “license server” was having issues. Doing the nice ol’ Google search on the difficulty, I discovered an Autodesk forum where somebody instructed deleting the CASCADEINFO.CAS file from the pc. Not having something to lose at now, i made a decision instead to rename the file and not delete it. Once I re-opened the AutoCAD 2010 software, the pc connected to the server while not a problem!

So, all credit goes to the suggesting individual of the matter, however i’m trying to induce a lot of exposure to the fix in addition as document the fix for future use.

Rename or Delete:
CASCADEINFO.CAS

Once this file is deleted: Restart AutoCAD 2010

Keep in mind this issue very solely applies to the -5.412.0 error at this time, unless there are alternative error codes you recognize of which will fix this drawback.

|f you are a person who deals in any quite Design business i am certain you have heard the phrase CAD somewhere or have seen it in some kind of literature. The letters in CAD have a special which means that’s called Computer Aided Design or Drafting. this is often primarily coming up with technical drawings with the help of Computer software. This software has been around for a short while currently, however is simply currently being recognized the maximum amount as it’s counterpart the drafting table. This observe of employing a drawing board to Design blueprints remains used these days, however has nowhere close to the presence it once had. In most of the planet CAD has replaced this previous Design of making technical drawings, and has allowed drafters to complete 3D Designs in but [*fr1] the time of it’s counterpart.

CAD software is put in on virtually any Computer or laptop as long because it meets the final needs of the software. rather than making straight lines with a ruler CAD includes a straightforward command that enables the road to be inserted into the drawing by either clicking the mouse within the acceptable place, or by manually inserting the length of the road beside an angle. CAD is extraordinarily precise, thus you do not need to worry regarding drawing a line to huge or little. This software conjointly has a lot of alternative commands that permit a good array of various lines to be created.

One advantage to CAD is that the ability to perform 3D commands and provides a second image 3D characteristics. this is often sometimes done by adding an orthographic read to the blueprints that permits the person decoding the planning to higher perceive what he or she is gazing. If you were coming up with your technical drawing on a group of blueprints it’d take many hours or days to utterly freehand the planning, and it still would not be as precise, or have the detail among it compared to a 3D Model that was designed with CAD software. the actual fact of saving time is just one among the numerous blessings CAD programs has over the normal manner of coming up with with blueprints.

CAD isn’t just for one or 2 specialties of drafting, however instead CAD includes a separate program for every one among the planning fields including: design, Mechanical, Structural, Machine, Civil, Electrical or Electronic, and software specifically for coming up with Inventions for Inventors. in a very few years from currently there’ll be no additional paper blueprints and that they are used for ornamental functions or be collectors things rather than making objects, buildings, or alternative Designs. CAD is that the next step within the evolution of Design and can still become additional advanced, and contain additional tools for Design as time progresses.
I get this question concerning reference file: what’s the advantage of using XREF as overlay and using XREF as attachment? the reason in AutoCAD documentation ought to be clear enough. However, if you continue to feel it’s not clear enough, allow us to discuss it here.

The distinction between connected and overlaid reference solely will be seen after you use nested reference. It suggests that you employ reference file in a very drawing, then your drawing is employed as reference file in alternative drawing.
Overlaid Reference
As its name, we tend to use this feature as underlay. after we are operating in our drawing, generally we’d like to use alternative drawing as reference. we would use it for positioning our drawing parts, or {just} just to examine how the opposite drawing/design can have an effect on ours.

For example, the architect need to examine how their building arrange would work the positioning style. The architects drawing are utilized by the structural engineers who don’t care how the positioning style would have an effect on the architectural style. They don’t need to examine the positioning style in their structural drawing. Then the architect ought to use overlaid xref. thus when the structural engineers use the architect drawing as reference, they’ll solely see the architect drawing. they’ll not see the positioning style, even the architect use the positioning drawing as reference.
Attached reference
Attached suggests that it becomes a section of your drawing. after you use attached xref, then anyone who use your file as attachment can see the drawing too. (http://cad-notes.com/)
