OK, I’ve never inserted a pix into my blog before, but this is Maxwell, Max for short, our 11 week old Afghan puppy.

I’m so proud you’d think I gave birth! He’s pretty cool, except I forgot how much work a puppy is. And he’s all puppy, clumsy & cute. You know hubby & I wanted him bad, we drove all the way from GA to AL to get him & it was well worth the ride.

Anyone who’s read Black Jack knows I have a thing for afghan dogs. We used to raise them over 30 years ago in NY. Once we had as many as 12, mom, dad & 10 puppies running around! Then I realized I couldn’t be a breeder ’cause I didn’t want to let any of them go.

Kayla, my 8 yr. old Lhasa apso (yes, she’s in Black Jack too) is a little displeased at this turn of events, but is handling it pretty well for a diva. So far, so good!

I know you stopped by looking for news about Deuces Wild. I’ll have something for you by the end of next week, but things are going well. I’ll feel better once you’re reading it ’cause there were a couple of scenes that made me so uncomfortable, I almost didn’t write them. My characters wanted me to see who they really were & made me share some of their secrets. Besides, they wanted you to know!

Well, I’m off now, playing with Max & editing wore me out.

Have a blessed night, Jean

Today, I’ve invited my 1st blog guest, good friend and author, Ja’Nese Dixon to tell you about her exciting debut novel, Black Diamond.

Black Diamond by Ja’Nese Dixon is a romantic suspense novel about an undercover FBI agent investigating a vicious group suspected of trafficking conflict diamonds.

After writing for months, Ja’Nese considers (and shares) a few of her favorite scenes in Black Diamond.

YouTube video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEkpDxYCPxo

About Black Diamond

Camille Blackwell, an undercover FBI agent, poses as a jewelry purchaser in an international diamond trading company in hopes of identifying the domestic players in a vicious rebel group suspected of trafficking conflict diamonds. The Bureau requests CIA renegade Marc Fulton’s assistance with sweeping international intelligence to identify the major rebel organizations with the finances and stateside connections strong enough to evade criminal prosecution, despite Camille’s objections.
Their attraction is instant and tense; both resolve to focus on the case. But when Camille receives an encrypted memory stick from a murdered co-worker Marc may be the only person she can trust.
Black Diamond is the eagerly anticipated debut novel by Ja’Nese Dixon. True love, like black diamonds, is rare and precious but when murder and a persistent criminal threaten a frail relationship, will love triumph?

About Ja’Nese Dixon

Ja’Nese Dixon writes fiction novels for readers yearning to escape and disappear into a good book. Ja’Nese’s debut novel, Black Diamond is scheduled for release in June 2010. She resides in Houston, Texas, with her husband and their two children.

Well, it’s late, but I wanted to get a head start on tomorrow. I’ve been pretty incommunicado lately ’cause I’m finally in the zone and Deuces Wild is moving right along. I don’t know what happened, I wouldn’t call it writers’ block, but I just wasn’t feeling the story until I let my antagonist go wild! I usually love my villians, but this time even my skin is crawling. It’s a little over the top and I think my worst fear is that readers will put it down & not pick it up again, but I have to let them be heard.

I also want to invite everyone to the Coffee Confessions Authors Brunch. JA Adams, LM Blakely & I will answer any questions you may have. If coerced, we may read a passage or two. Check out the details & register @ http://coffeebrunch.eventbrite.com/ Your 1st cup of coffee is on us!

As promised, here’s the sneak peak:

It almost felt like sleepwalking. Lark slowly moved over to his side of the queen-size bed and removed the black and gray 9mm Ruger P89DC from the knotty pine night stand’s bottom drawer. The two pound pistol felt especially heavy in her hands tonight. She removed the magazine and checked to make sure it was fully loaded with copper-tipped brass bullets. Then slowly and quietly, she slipped out of their bed. Lark knew she could kill him. Ironically, he was the one who’d started taking her to the range for target practice. She ran her fingers over the smooth barrel and had memory so strong that she could almost smell a whiff of burnt gunpowder. It all flooded back as his instructions replayed in her mind.

They had just put on their headphones when Karl positioned himself behind her and stood directly in her center. His hands enclosed hers as he adjusted her grip and bent his knees into the backs of hers. Reflex made her fall into place and strangely she became aroused. A man at her back and a gun in her hands felt like one of the most sensual moments of her life.

Now focus, inhale and pull the trigger as you exhale.

Her aim had gotten quite good. She discovered she was quite the expert at head and neck shots.

Lark wrapped the pink terry cloth robe around her sturdy body, tying the belt while looking down on what used to be her waistline. At five feet three inches, one hundred and sixty-five pounds, she wished she could magically get her teenage body back. Maybe then he wouldn’t have…but she knew her figure had nothing to do with what was happening in the other bedroom. Although it wasn’t her fault, it felt like it. Her stomach churned.

Barefoot, she walked up the light beige carpeted stairs to her daughter’s room on the right. Lark stopped, stood by the door and listened. When she thought she heard a soft moan, she quietly turned the knob, opened the door and flicked on the light switch. What happened next would come to her in flashes for the rest of her life.

Please leave a comment & let me know what you think.

Until next time…

Hey Aceoholics,

I know I haven’t blogged in a month, but life has gotten pretty busy for me with the release of Coffee Confessions, an anthology containing my 1st short story, Latte Lady and 6 others by authors JA Adams, LM Blakely, Darine Davis, Ja’Nese Dixon, TL James and DeiIra Smith-Collard that runs the gamut from erotica to inspirational to suspense. There’s something for everyone. I’m really excited about this project and readers are in for such a surprise! She said proudly. ;o) Oh, here’s the purchase link: http://www.shhimreading.com/book-store.html

Til May 14, 2010, enter the coupon code: SIRBOOK and get $5 off!

I also think I found my niche. I’m now editing other authors. Editing seems to satisfy my OCD! Who knew? Don’t get me wrong, I’m no Monk, although he is one of my favorite TV characters of all time. Most folks think I’m just a pain in the…, not crazy. OK, not that I need therapy or anything, umh…well, harmless. Besides, I need something to keep my mind off hubby’s remodeling and renovations.

He’s been working on this for over 6 months and, don’t get me wrong, he’s doing a wonderful job, but with all the banging, sawing & drilling I’m ’bout to go off! He totally remodeleded the kitchen, 2 bathrooms, the garage and laid laminate floors in the living room and my office. The master bedroom is next. Thank God, I’ll be in Houston for the “Get Lit White Party” when he starts on that. The only good thing is we have a small house and he’s going to run out of rooms soon.

Last week was the epitome for me. Sure, I went to Books, Beauty & Banter in Houston and had a good time, sold some books and met some new fans, but this isn’t about that. The highlight of my week was meeting my great-granddaughter, LaVeah for the 1st time (they live in Vegas) and she wrapped me around her tiny finger. At 7 mos., she’s the size of a Butterball turkey, 21 lbs., with cheeks that resemble a chipmunk and thighs that you just want to pinch. I was struck by the magical effect holding her in my arms had on me. She’s a happy baby and we had the best time, playing ’so big’, peek-a-boo and all the other baby games I thought I’d forgotten. I held a fourth generation member of my family and it overwhelmed me. It also made me give God praise for allowing me this special time as I know there are many women who never get the chance to see their great-grandchildren. Family is a blessing, especially after the kids grow up & start their own families as long as they don’t do it too soon. No empty-nester depression for me! LOL

I’ve been blessed and I am grateful. They went home Tues. @ noon & I miss them both, but I didn’t let go until I had the promise of another visit, hopefully in August, right after LaVeah’s 1st birthday.

My granddaughter, Dru, dressed her in black & red (my signature colors) and that definitely made me a little teary. She was too cute. It was so hard to see them go.

Good night, LaVeah. G-Ma and G-Pop love you.

Bobbie and I have a mutual admiration goin’ on. After reading her fantastic Ace of Hearts and Black Jack reviews, I know she really gets me and I’m blown away. She swears I’ve turned her on to erotic thrillers (no pun intended ;o) a genre she hadn’t been into. Leave it to her to ask some questions I’d never been asked before!

So, without further ado…

I’ve been looking forward to reading Black Jack, ever since I’ve had the privilege of reading and reviewing book 1, Ace of Hearts. I was really curious to see how this story would play out, I wondered who the new characters would be and how the new storyline would tie into the first book. Boy oh boy, are you in for a treat! The story picks up just a few short years after Ace of Hearts ended. Shevaughn Robinson (Von to her friends) feels pretty good about her role as lead homicide detective. With work going so well and the love of her little girl, she can almost forget the pain and sadness of losing Tony O’Brien. When Von is called to the scene of a homicide and she begins investigating an elderly woman’s death, she can’t stop some of the memories from flooding back as similarities remind her of Eric Becker, the notorious Ace of Hearts serial killer and violent rapist. Black Jack is not for the squeamish; the characters and the fast-paced story line is gritty, authentic and at times, quite graphic. It’s an absolute must, that you read Ace of Hearts (book 1) and then Black Jack (book 2)! I found myself having compassion for some of the sinister characters in the story, almost against my will. Jean Holloway is, in my opinion, a master story-teller; she has an amazing gift and she’s not afraid to use it. With exciting twist and turns, a cold-blooded killer and fast-paced action, this seductive thriller will pull you in and keep you guessing.
I very highly recommend this book to all thriller and erotic thriller fans!
***Some graphic sexual content***
