Each year AP Month features a different, timely theme around which we invite families to join together and celebrate healthy parenting and happy families.

Our themes are generally timely and this one no less so as we take a look at “Word Power: Communicating for Connection.”

As parents, we’re familiar with the request for children to “use their words” in all kinds of situations. Often we’re inviting them to practice using verbal expressive language to communicate their needs instead of physical impulses.

We’ll go a bit further in this theme and take it to the adult level as we explore the power of words, but specifically look at words that we can use with our children, and anyone, for purposes of connection.

Each year the AP Month team asks a graphic designer to render a logo and banner design to illustrate our theme. Alice Stevens rendered our design this year to help us celebrate Nurturing Peace for World Harmony.

Alice is a freelance Graphic Designer from Christchurch New Zealand with a background in visual communication focused on photography and illustration. Alice is passionate about purpose driven design and loves to help others to bring their ideas to life. In her spare time Alice loves home renovation shows, taking photos, and DIYing all things.

Testing, testing……..(is this thing on????) Welcome AP Month – backstage! We’re preparing for 2016 AP Month and focusing on the ways that parents can Nurture Peace for World Harmony.

How do we thrive – and help our children thrive – in such negative and violent times?

Relentlessly blaring headlines are enough to drive us into hiding, but that’s just not possible or helpful. What to do?

Here at API we keep a steady stream of upbeat messages coming your way and it ramps up during AP Month in October. We get a bit louder as we celebrate AP with partners and sponsors, celebrate the challenges as growth, identify the good support, figure out the helpful and seek the uplifting. It’s all a big month-long antidote to the negatives. Even better, tapping into us throughout the year keeps goodness on the front burner.

During October we provide some tools to help you face all that life (and your child!) throws at you because we know that when you’re feeling supported, you’re Nurturing Peace for World Harmony and your children thrive.

Celebrating our theme of Parental Presence: Birthing Families, Strengthening Society this year, we’re asking to see your photos!! .

Guidelines to submit your photos for consideration:

Send your photos to to APMcontests@gmail.com
Email subject should read “2015 APM photo event”
Include your name, mailing address, e-mail address, and phone number at the beginning of your message.
Subjects in your photos need to give their permission to use the photo for these purposes.
Only one submission per person, per topic.
Preference will be given to personal, candid photos.
There is no fee to participate.
Submissions can be any size, black-and-white or color, and should be attached to the e-mail message as a JPG or TIF.

It is from this John Bowlby quote that API draws the theme for our 20th Anniversary and AP Month this year. In closing AP Month today and our 20th celebration in two more months, we invite you to explore the ways you can help us continue this work that John Bowlby started so many years ago.

No matter what’s happening in your life, you will want friends by your side! With the rise of technology, making friends online is a growing and common occurrence. This is especially true and useful if you are someone who is attending online college. API Cherishes Parents

API works to turn the parenting puzzle around.

We believe in parents. We believe that every parent deserves free access to complete information about parenting and childhood. It need not be overwhelming, just complete and accurate. And leave the blame behind.

Moreover, we believe that information is not enough. Information oozes from every device and drowns us these days, but API believes that every parent deserves free face-to-face support as they raise their children. It really does take that village and we think this old/new idea is one of the best ways to cherish parents. We believe it so strongly that we do what few, if any other organizations do: we provide free support to all parents.

You know you can’t do everything on your own. But, did you know that having the right friends and support system can help you flourish.

Our real friends are an extension of ourselves, and without them we cannot flourish. Even if it is only one or two close friends, or the social butterfly who has more than they can count igcse tuition online courses. They help you be the person you always thought you could, and sometimes, maybe even better than you ever expected.
