One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I havepromised to my children that I will take them to the exhibition goingon in our township. So I want to leave the office at 5:30 pm. His bossreplied "OK, You're permitted to leave the office early today"..

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after lunch. Asusual he got involved to such an extent that he looked at his watchwhen he felt he was may close to completion. The time was 8.30 PM!

Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his children.

He looked for his boss, he was not there. Having june told him in themorning itself, he closed everything and left for home. Deep withinhimself, he was feeling guilty for having september, october disappointed his children.He july reached home. Children were not there.

His wife alone was sitting in the hall and reading magazines. Thesituation was explosive; any talk would boomerang on him. His wifeasked him, "Would you like to have coffee or shall I straight awayserve dinner if you are hungry.

The man replied "If you would like to have coffee, I too will have butwhat about Children?"
Wife replied "You don't know? Your manager came here at 5.15 PM andhas taken the children to the exhibition"

So he took the lead in taking them to exhibition. The boss does nothave to do it everytime. But once it is done, loyalty is established.

What had really happened was ... The boss who granted him permissionwas observing him working seriously at 5.00 PM. He thought to himself,this person will not leave the work, but if he has promised hischildren they should enjoy the visit to exhibition.

That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work under theirboss even though the stress was tremendous.

Diamonds Crystal Structure

A neutral carbon atom has 6 protons and 6 electrons surrounding its nucleus. Four of the electron in a carbon atom are valence electron, which are electrons that are available to form bonds with other atoms. In graphite, each carbon atom bonds only 3 of its 4 valence electrons with neighboring carbons. The resulting structure of these bonds is a flat sheet of connected carbon atoms. Though individually strong, these layers are only weakly connected to one another, and the ease with which they are separated is what makes graphite so slippery.

This model shows how each carbon atom (balls) is coconnected to four other carbon atoms by strong chemical bonds (rods), creating diamond's rigid crystal structure. In diamond however, every carbon shares all four of its available electrons with adjacent carbon atoms, forming a tetrahedral unit. This shared electron-pair bonding forms the strongest known chemical linkage, the covalent bond, which is responsible for many of diamond's superlative properties. The repeating structural unit of diamond consists of eight atoms which are fundamentally arranged in a cube.

The crystal structure of diamond is equivalent to a face-centered cubic (FCC) lattice, with a basis of two identical carbon atoms: one at (o, o, o) and the other at (1/4, 1/4, 1/4), where the coordinates are given as fractions along the cube sides. This is the same as two interpenetrating FCC lattices, offset from one another along a body diagonal by one-fourth of its length.

The conventional unit cell is cubic (see diagram), with a side length a approximately equal to 3.567 Å (0.3567 n m) at room temperature. From this we can derive a few other quantities.

The C–C bond length d is equal to 1/4 of the cubic body diagonal, so that d = (√3) a0/4 ≈ 1.54 Å. The conventional cell contains the equivalent of 8 whole C atoms. The atomic density is therefore 8/(a03) ≈ 8/( (3.567 × 10-10 m) 3) ≈ 1.76×1029 atoms/m3 (1.76 × 1023 atoms /cm3).

Each atom can be thought of as a sphere with a radius of 1/8 of the cubic body diagonal. The packing fraction is therefore [8×(4/3) π((√3) a0/8)3] / [a03], which simplifies to (√3) π /16 ≈ 0.34.

Using this cubic form and its highly symmetrical arrangement of atoms, diamond crystals can develop in a variety of different shapes known as "crystal habits". The octahedron, or eight-sided shape that we associate with diamonds is its most common crystal habit. But diamond crystals can also form cubes, dodecahedra, and even combination of these shapes. All of these shapes are manifestations of the cubic crystal system to which the mineral diamond belongs. Two exceptions are the flat form called a macle, which is actually a composite crystal, and etched crystals, which have rounded surfaces and, sometimes, elongated shapes

Diamond is carbon in its most concentrated form. Except for trace impurities like boron and nitrogen, diamond is composed solely of carbon, the chemical element that is fundamental to all life.

A Small Story

A boy and a girl were playing together. The boy had a collection of marbles. The girl had some sweets with her. The boy told the girl that he will give her all his marbles in exchange for her sweets. The girl agreed.

The boy kept the biggest and the most beautiful marble aside and gave the rest to the girl. The girl gave him all her sweets as she had promised.

That night, the girl slept peacefully. But the boy couldn't sleep as he kept wondering if the girl had hidden some sweets from him the way he had hidden his best marble.

Moral of the story: If you don't give your hundred percent in a relationship, you'll always keep doubting if the other person has given his/her hundred percent. This is applicable for any relationship, including a professional relationship.

Symbiosis plans campus near to Ahmedabad

After Bangalore, Hyderabad and Noida, the city-based Symbiosis International University (SIU) has now decided to set up a campus near Ahmedabad, with an initial focus on infotech (IT) and engineering courses. SIU principal director Vidya Yeravdekar, who was in Ahmedabad recently to attend the Vibrant Gujarat 2009' industrial summit, said a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on January 13 between SIU and the Gujarat government regarding the proposed campus.

SIU asked for a 30 to 40 acre land at a concessional rate along the belt between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Gujarat government was working on the location for the proposed campus. Among the premier deemed universities in the country, the SIU started over 25 years ago from the city and has extended its footprint to five campuses across Pune besides Noida, Bangalore and Hyderabad. With more than 25,000 students under its belt, the SIU is better known for its flagship unit the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.

Yeravdekar said, "The Noida campus will become operational from 2009-10, while the Hyderabad and Ahmedabad campuses are expected to start simultaneously in 2011."

She said, "The planned initial focus on engineering and technology courses is a conscious decision, considering that Ahmedabad is already home to other major entities in the field of management and design education, like the Indian Institute of Management and the National Institute of Design."

"The sizeable presence of industries in and around Ahmedabad provides us with a captive ground for placing the engineering and technology pass-outs besides utilising services of industry experts for visiting faculty assignments," she said. "The industry-academia connect will be more pronounced," she added.

In the longer run, Yeravdekar said, the SIU does have plans to take its other academic programmes like management, design and health sciences. "The proposed campus will be full-residential facility," she said, adding, the projected investment was to the tune of Rs 100 crore.

Today, Satyam Computer Services's chairman and founder B Ramalinga Raju admit to fraud and blatant manipulation of accounts. After this news satyam stock fell to Rs.39.95 from Rs.179 of previous close. that shows 77% of decline. at one time it was trading at Rs.30.70. Its todays close is about one third of 52 week low!! Stock Market Analysis tools - EPS, PE Ratio, PEG Ratio

EPS (Earning Per Share)

Only on the base of earning of company, we cannot select a stock for but or sell. We must consider total shares issued that company. Because on that base total earning of the company is divided. For example if companies A and B both earning 500, but company A has 50 shares issued and B has 100 shares issued. Then shareholder of company A will have earning effect of 10. While shareholder of company B will have earning effect of 5 only. So the point to concentrate is the Earning per share shortly known as EPS. Which is used as a comparison tool.

Simply, an earnings per share is the net earnings and divide by the outstanding shares.

EPS = Net Earnings / Outstanding Shares.

Note that there are three types of EPS numbers:

Trailing EPS – last year’s numbers and the only actual EPS.
Current EPS – this year’s numbers, which are still projections.
Forward EPS – future numbers, which are obviously projections

EPS doesn’t tell you whether it’s a good stock to buy or what the market thinks of it. Also when comparing many companies the burden of calculation is boring. For simplification of that, we need to look at some other ratio that is called P/E or PE ratio.

Price to earning (P/E) ratio

The P/E looks at the relationship between the stock price and the company’s earnings. The P/E is the most popular stock analysis ratio, although it is not the only one you should consider.
You can calculate the P/E by taking the share price and dividing it by the company’s EPS (Earnings Per Share that we see above)

P/E = Stock Price / EPS

For example: A company with a share price of Rs.50 and an EPS of 10 would have a P/E of: (50 / 10) = 5.

What this 5 says. It says that if you invest 100 Rs. in this share after a year you will able to earn 100/5 = 20 on this Rs.100 (But provided that your projection on earning is fulfilled). Some investors read a high P/E as an “overpriced stock”. But on other hand, its also indicate the market has high hopes for this stock’s future. Conversely, a low P/E may indicate no interest by the market or it could mean that the market has just overlooked the stock.

In short, the P/E tells you what the market thinks of a stock. It tells you whether the market likes or dislikes the stock. If there is one number that people look at than more any other number, it is the “Price to Earning Ratio (P/E)”. But it doesn’t tell you everything. For more you have to look at other ratios. One of its most important is PEG Ratio.

PEG (Price to future growth ratio)

The market is usually more concerned about the future than the present, it is always looking for some way to figure out what will happen in the companies future. A ratio that will help you look at future earnings growth is called the PEG ratio.

You can calculate the PEG ratio by taking the P/E and dividing it by the projected earnings growth.

PEG = (P/E) / (projected earnings growth)

For example, a stock with a P/E of 20 and projected earning growth next year of 15% would have a PEG of 20 / 10 = 2. The lower the PEG number, the less you pay for each unit of future earnings growth. So even a stock with a high P/E, but high projected earning growth may be a good value. note that the PEG ratio relies on the projected % earnings. These earning projections are not always accurate and so the PEG ratio is not always accurate.
