This is my set up during the HRF. My easel is from OpenBoxM. It is the 11×14 inch size, which fits very well into my backback and gives me plenty of palette space. I did add a glass pane to the palette area to ease cleaning. I also have their wet panel carrier, which if I didn’t carry my sketchbook with me, would also fit snuggly into my pack with my easel, it comes in a nylon case with a handle and interior plastic walls. My tripod is a cheap one that I purchased at walmart a few years ago for 30 dollars (mx2000 or something, its’ cheap). It’s sufficiently stable for me, it does get a little bouncy when I start a painting, but after that it’s fine. The chair came from Sports Authority for a whole 9 dollars and the umbrella came with a plein air kit I received 7 years ago. This was the first time I used it and found it extremely handy for evening out the light in the woods where the light could be blotchy on my surface. My brushes primarily came from Trekell.com, I’ve used their hogs hair and red sable brushes for years and because they’re so great I’ll keep using them. This year I found a handy tube carrier for my brushes (2.00 at DickBlick), which resembles a toothbrush travel kit and decided to keep my paints in a pencil box (1.50 at Staples).  I also kept a small jar of Gamsol and Liquin for my mediums. My backpack is from Jansport that I bought a few years ago. It has a flat frame inside and waist belts that can be tucked away. It fits nearly all my gear extremely well and holds up well.
