Parisian girls are known worldwide for their elegance, effortless style and man-crushing conversation skills. My friend Marguerite Baux is no exception: she graduated from the best literary university course in France (Agrégée de Lettres Modernes) at a very young age, got into École Normale Supérieure, and went on to become a highly esteemed writer, translator, and journalist. So it’s no surprise that when she drives, it’s in an über-cool 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300TD.

Sarah from Colette recently asked a bunch of Parisian illustrators and designers to participate in an ongoing show of posters, for Little White Lies magazine, inspired by famous movies.

I went for a legendary predator of the seas, and did a poster made of blood drops:

Dazzle Yazzle performance at W hotel Paris

Last month I was asked to do an installation for the opening night of the W Hotel in Paris. My first choice was to do a photocall inspired by dazzle battleships, and to design bathrobes that the guests would wear, sporting the same pattern so that their bodies would vanish in the optical camouflage. W Hotels weren’t too keen on guests exchanging germ-infested bathrobes, so I changed my approach, and decided to print a single white suit, and to wear it through the evening, posing with friends and guests. The effect worked wonders, and I literally disappeared in most of the shots:

Some people mentioned the work of Chinese Artist Liu Bolin, but not only is this completely different as I could move around without altering the illusion, but he’s also a pale copycat of 60′s supermodel-turned-performance artist Veruschka. If anything I was more inspired by Lee Yongbaek.

Longtime Arkitip supporter, Rockstar Games is preparing for their long awaited release of Max Payne 3 on 15 May 2012. We thought we’d share with you some of the highlights of this highly anticipated game. Max Payne is back and unfortunately for him but fortunate for you, his story has gone from bad to worse. This pain-killer addicted ex-cop finds himself without a family or a job in Sao Paolo, Brazil, so he takes a job in private security for a wealthy businessman and his 24 year-old trophy wife is kidnapped on Max’s watch.

Rockstar took the same noir narrative of Max Payne 2 into a multiplayer, third person shooting game. This game utilizes gritty storytelling, intense gunplay, and precise cinematic effects to produce a totally new level of realism in gaming. Bullet time slows down a fight, allowing you choreograph a shootout and dodge bullets like Boris. This highly cinematic game play draws you in deeper to Max Payne’s dark story, so you can feel good about pretending to kill a bunch of people you don’t know.

With the studio up and running, we will continue to oversee a plethora of creative endeavors, including the publication of our magazine, limited-edition artist’s prints, books and multiples; clothing, accessories, and the occasional CD. In addition, Arkitip will further our relationship with artists, designers, shops, and galleries around the world to produce exhibitions
