Still, it's the largest number we've seen from a TV maker, and when you factor in that Samsung's store just passed one million downloads back in November, it seems the Korean tech giant has a good thing going.

It seems that TomTom was scrabbling to put some innovation in the space after the announcement of free turn-by-turn offerings from Google and Nokia. While there's no doubt that dedicated satnav devices offer great functionality and better performance compared to their part-time smartphone navigating competitors, selling the average consumer (not hardened road warriors) on the need for two devices won't be easy. Initially, the BlackBerry Storm (and Storm2, presumably) will be supported, with other RIM devices coming onboard shortly thereafter. The rollout will continue over the coming weeks and months, hopefully to a few other mobile operating systems. Verizon insists that its own storefront won't take away from "other markets," namely the Android Marketplace. Instead, they're "perpetuating the ecosystem," with the app store simply being a vessel of distribution

Today Google annouces the offical launch of the "Google Marketplace" which allows Google Apps customers to easily discover, deploy and manage cloud applications that integrate with Google Apps. Once installed to a company's domain, these third-party applications work like native Google applications. The Google Apps Marketplace eliminates the worry about software updates, keeping track of different passwords and manual syncing and sharing of data, thereby increasing business productivity and lessening frustrations for users and IT administrators alike. That's the power of the cloud.

More than 50 companies are now selling applications across a range of businesses so far with many many more expected to join. Notion's tablet is still in production, but is expected to be released soon. It trumps the Ipad in almost every area. Multitasking, a swivel Camera, 20hrs battery, 1080p video out, Android OS and much more. To encourage development for the tablet, Notion Ink is throwing a contest with $1 million worth of prizes. That should create some buzz. More info soon, but for now check out the link.
