Separation anxiety in children has long been acknowledged as a very real and growing social reality.

Separation anxiety in children is the natural response of a child to the breaking up of the nuclear family unit, and can sometimes express itself in inappropriate behavior, depression, repression of feelings, or even expressions of hatred and rage.
It is very important for parents to know how to react to these very important expression of feeling that your child is showing. It is also very important for the parents to not only view the feelings, and their expression of them, as not only natural, but valid. That does not mean that separation anxiety in children is an excuse for inappropriate behavior.

There is a fine line between owning up to the emotionally heart wrenching fact that your failing relationship has traumatically affected the life of your child, and overlooking the inappropriate behavior of your child due to these feelings of guilt.

Separation anxiety in children can manifest itself in various ways, from withdrawal and seclusion, overly active “family” fantasy play, or even outbursts of violence toward one or both parents or people outside of the family.

It is very important during this delicate time in your child’s life, that you yourself, show the proper restraint, and yet healthy coping, when dealing with both the practical and emotional aspects of divorce and family restructuring. Get all the information you can, reach out to agencies if you have to.

Even though you may have chosen to move on with your life, never forget that your children have lives that are changing too.

Stress and anxiety are not only the main indirectly related cause of death, but also the stimulus that propels the failing of many relationships.

Stress and anxiety can take two people in a perfectly healthy relationship and turn them not only against each other, but against themselves. While stress and anxiety can destroy a relationship, many relationships are sources of stress and anxiety themselves, and this is not all unhealthy.

Married life and the constant balancing of each other’s needs bring new roles and responsibilities to the couple and can at times be uncomfortable, or tense. This stress is natural and simply the body’s way of keeping you alert during times of change. However, if not kept in balance and used as a stimulus for proper action, this stress and anxiety can inadvertently turn against the building of the relationship that initially caused so much concern.

Whether it is the relationship that is causing the stress, or the stress that is ruining the relationship, or both, it is an important social and psychologically affecting reality that can be dealt with not only in a harmless, but productive fashion. Stress and anxiety, cause by marriage or otherwise, is a healthy reaction to change. One that must be kept within controllable limits for proper health.

It is important that all people deal with their stress and anxiety, as normal and prevalent as they are, in a way that utilizes these natural feeling positively and in a productive manner.

Unlike a person who is missing a leg, or has been shot, the effects of anxiety are usually hidden beneath a whole range of social factors, defenses, and misconceptions, making it very hard for the person dealing with these emotions to manage and finally recover.

Anxiety can cause a person to exhibit many mental effects that might lead to severe problems in managing a daily life if not noticed and kept under control before they become irrational, or out of hand. While people cope with, and manifest their struggles with anxiety different ways, it is not uncommon to see either emotional pole, depression, or mania, displayed by a person dealing with high stress. Sometimes the effects can be temporary, as a physical or psychological response to a specific situation in one’s life, or may take on more permanent characteristics that usually denote mental illness.

Just like any other health issue, the effects of anxiety are nothing to be ashamed of, and certainly you can not afford to ignore them if you wish to have a healthy life. If you know that you are under a lot of stress and need help, or are not able to handle the same level of stress that you used to without adverse effects, then it might be time to seek out some assistance. The effects of anxiety are a well studied and documented science, and there are no shortage of treatments, and professionals to help you,in the field. There is absolutely no reason to go it alone.

Most people do not even realize that the number one way to extent our lifespan is to reduce your daily level of stress. Increased heart attacks, strokes, migraine headaches, and even muscle spasms, can be directly related to the amount of stress in a person’s life.

Not all of the health related consequences of living a high stress level lifestyle are easy to spot. Some are seemingly secondary, but from a health standpoint, primary issues. One of the secondary effects of anxiety is the propensity for people who are under pressure to eat more, smoke more, drink more, and even use life threatening illicit drugs more often than the rest of the population. These activities, in turn, adversely affect the physical, and emotional health of the person under stress and those around them even more. These lifestyles ensure a steady diet of stress and anxiety of there own.

Do not get caught in the downward spiral of high stress ruining your health, and in turn living a higher stress lifestyle due to health issues and concerns. Get all of the information that you can on living a healthy lifestyle, both emotionally and physically. Not only will the negative effects of anxiety and stress become noticeably diminished, but your physical health is bound to improve as well, raising your self esteem, and making anxiety and stress more manageable.

Children tend to bond with the primary caregivers in their lives. It is because of this bond that separation anxiety in children becomes part of their normal development stage as early as 8 months through about 2 years of age.

Unsettling as it can be for the parent(s), separation anxiety in children is normal and can come when you’re in another room, at work, or leave them with a sitter for the evening, even the first few days of school - any time they might feel their safety, comfort, or protection from parents being compromised.

General symptoms of separation anxiety in children can include any or all of the following:
•	Not willing to interact with others – even others they know but are not the primary caregiver
•	Clinginess (wanting to be held, hiding behind parent, following from room to room)
•	Shyness
•	Crying / Whining

Teary and clingy goodbyes are part of the child’s early development years. Reassurances of safety and love, being on time to return home or pick up your child will let your child know that you will once again be there with them after a short absence.

There are a couple of evolutionary based theories that could explain why our cheeks turn red when we are embarrassed, which we call blushing. There is no disputing the medical facts of what happens when we blush, a sudden flood of adrenaline passes into the system and blood is then rushed to all of a person’s extremities, including the cheeks. That is the simple part. Why, is not so easy.

Nobody quite knows why, but some some people do not blush, no matter how embarrassed they may become, while others seem to blush for no reason, causing the blushing itself to become the source of constant embarrassment.

Sadly enough, instead of seeking medical advice, some feel that their constant blushing is just a particular glitch in their makeup, or simply a symptom of overt shyness. They might immediately seek out a psychological social anxiety cure, thinking that it is a social deficiency in themselves that needs correcting.

Some people might be pleasantly surprised to find that their social anxiety cure lies not in the correcting of social exclusiveness after all, but an allergy, drug reaction, or even a blood circulation issue. There are several creams, pills, tonics, and other treatments that help to alleviate such problems. For more severe medical problems, there are even surgical alternatives.

If your blushing is actually caused by an extremely sensitive phobia of social interaction or other related social anxiety, then traditional counseling or even hypnotherapy might be an avenue to explore.

The first and foremost question which may come to your mind is what is OCD and anxiety? The full of the term OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It is a disorder which is caused by impulsions due to some of the characteristics which may seem very stupid to a normal person with a sound mind.

According to the experts from all around the world this disorder is caused by recurrent and persistent ideas of thoughts that are intrusive and inappropriate and also causes marked anxiety or distress. By compulsions we mean, repetitive behaviours or mental acts for which the person feels driven and to perform in response to an obsession. It is these compulsions which give rise to anxiety which in term is one of the main reasons for getting affected by OCD.

Now the question that you may ask is about the relation between OCD and anxiety. In simple words these two are interrelated. You can say that anxiety is the main cause for OCD. The treatments that are there in these two cases can be either performed by medicine or through counselling with the patient which is called the ERP treatment.

This ERP or Exposure and Response Prevention have to be done intensively in order to get fruitful results. It is also important that the family members spend more time with the person who is affected in order to get him out from his present mental state. In the end it is important for you to believe that both OCD and anxiety can be cured completely if you can guide the person in the right direction.
