-Time to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem

It is time for Christians to remember to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Meanwhile Muslims are praying for a huge piece of Jerusalem and demonstrating in the streets demanding that the whole city be given to them chanting:

“Jerusalem is Arab, our eternal capital”

Here’s what I posted today on one of my other blogs:

There are many reasons why Christians should continue to remember Jerusalem in our prayers. First of all because I believe that we are commanded to pray for Jerusalem in Psalm 122:6. But beyond that we need to pray for the destiny of that land and people.

Those of us in America should be praying for Our President and his administration. VP Biden has been over to Israel recently and pretty much favored and was sympathetic to the Palestinian Muslims and their claim over the land. In fact he warned Israeli officials that their relationship with the US was in severe danger over settlements in Jerusalem.

It is my perspective that if this country does not support Israel and their right to Jerusalem then we are the ones that are ultimately in real trouble. So even for purely selfish reasons we do need to be praying. I just don’t understand why we would want to support violent dictatorial Islamic despots over the freely elected leaders of a democratic Israel. It doesn’t make sense to me on any level. Obviously we are battling against demonic powers here and spiritual blindness can be the only logical explanation. Prayer is essential for this situation.

-9th Circuit is ‘Under God’ After All!

The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the reference to God in the Pledge of Allegiance is grounded in historical identity, philosophy, and politics and not specific theology or the establishment of an official religion.

Thus the court ruled against Michael Newdow, an atheist who challenged ‘under God’ in the Pledge of Allegiance and ‘in God we trust’ on US currency as unconstitutional endorsements of religion.

The court also ruled unanimously that Newdow did not have standing to challenge the official motto of the United States that appears on the US currency- “In God We Trust”.

Response: Wow, for once the left leaning 9th Circuit actually made the right decision. Since other circuits around the country have made similar decisions concerning ‘The Pledge’ it is doubtful that this case will be going on to the Supreme Court. *Top

-Pakistan: Islamic Gunmen Kill Christian Aid Workers

From Compass Direct News: ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, March 10 (CDN) — Suspected Islamic militants armed with guns and grenades stormed the offices of a Christian relief and development organization in northwest Pakistan today, killing six aid workers and wounding seven others.

Approximately 15 gunmen attacked the World Vision offices near Oghi, Pakistan killing six staff members (all Pakistanis) including two women and wounding seven others. World Vision is an international humanitarian organization which came to Pakistan to offer aid to earthquake victims in 2005. While the humanitarian organization has Christian ties it does not proselytize or provide any particular religious teaching.

Here’s the account of one survivor, World Vision administration officer Mohammad Sajid:

“They gathered all of us in one room. The gunmen, some of whom had their faces covered, also snatched our mobile phones. They dragged people one by one and shifted them to an adjacent room and shot and killed them.”

This is not the first attack of aid workers by Islamic extremists in Pakistan. Last October, the UN’s World Food Program office in Islamabad was attacked by a suicide bomber and five aid workers were killed. After that, the United Nations decided relocate a number of their offices and international staff from Pakistan due to security concerns.

Response: Pakistan is becoming a far more dangerous place than it use to be. With all of the allied armies attacking the Taliban and al Queda folks in Afghanistan thousands of the Islamic extremists have fled to Pakistan.

The extremists are making their presence felt in that country nearly every day. The Taliban has literally taken over several provinces and have initiated a radical form of sharia law. There are on-going battles between the extremists and the Pakistani army. Remember that Pakistan has nuclear weapons so there is a lot at stake. *Top

-Nancy Pelosi: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it”

This is what Nancy Pelosi had to say about the Health Care bill:

“But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy.”

So let’s get this straight. We have to pass the bill first before we find out what is really in it and what it’s going to do to us? No thanks Nancy. Pass it and there’s no going back no matter how bad it is.

Here’s some more from the Speaker:

“You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.

Response: Speaker Pelosi is flat out wrong. Pass it and we won’t find out how it works for 6 long years. The bill doesn’t go into effect for 6 years but the taxes for it are implemented immediately. So it becomes a drain on an already weak economy and the supposed ‘benefits’ don’t happen for 6 years? So pass this pig-in-a-poke and let’s see what you get in 6? Right!

It changes 1/6 of the American economy and affects millions of jobs in the health care and insurance industry. There hasn’t been any real research into what this bill will do to an economy that is already down. Nearly every expert that I have read has said that it could send the economy into an even greater tailspin.

Then there’s the whole problem of paying for it and the trillion $ deficits that it would create. Not to even mention what it will do to the finest health care system in the world. There are changes that could make it even better but throwing the ‘whole baby out’ with this bill is not one of them. *Top

-Dan Rather: Obama Couldn’t Even Sell Watermelons

Dan Rather is at it again with his homespun anecdotes. This time Chris Matthews tried to stop him by loudly talking over him the second he said ‘watermelons’. Here’s what he says about the GOP response to President Obama:

“Part of the undertow in the coming election is going to be President Obama’s leadership. And the Republicans will make a case and a lot of independents will buy this argument. …

“Listen he’s a nice person, he’s very articulate” this is what’s been used against him, “but he couldn’t sell watermelons if it, you gave him the state troopers to flag down the traffic.”

Response: It is a good thing that Rather is a liberal news guy. If he was a conservative Republican it would be over for Danny boy. After his false military story against Bush in 2004 he should have been retired and put out to pasture. *Top

-Sandra Bullock Wins an Oscar

Congratulations to Sandra Bullock for her well deserved Oscar as Best Actress in a Leading Role. Her portrayal of a wealthy Southern white Christian housewife who raises a homeless black kid in The Blind Side is one of the best that I have ever seen. If someone would have told me that Bullock was up for this kind of performance I would have doubted their credibility. However She made a believer out of me in this movie.

I found myself rooting for her during the Oscars with little hope that she would win considering it was a ‘feel good’ movie with all sorts of Christians overtones and themes. Plus it was a true story to boot. To see her overcome some of these ‘liabilities’ from a Hollywood perspective was gratifying to say the least.

-Ahmadinejad: “September 11 Was a Big Lie and a Pretext for the War on Terror”

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad is known to be a ‘holocaust denier’ and now he confirms that he is also a ‘9/11 truther’. In a speech to the Intelligence Ministry staff in Iran he made the following comments:

“September 11 was a big lie and a pretext for the war on terror and a prelude to invading Afghanistan.”

He also questioned the 9/11 death toll claiming that the Americans never published the victims’ names. This of course is utterly false. On several occasions the names of the over 2,750 victims killed in New York have been read aloud at memorials.

Response: Ahmadinejad is also expecting the 12th imam to come back soon and usher in a new Islamic caliphate and world empire. Sometimes his lock on reality is rather loose at best. Do we really want this madman to have his finger on a nuclear button? What do you think? *Top
