I especially enjoyed the ceremony. My mom has told us so many story of her school-going days at Jan van Riebeeck and how they went to church twice on Sundays at Groote Kerk. It was a real treat for me to finally be able to shoot there :)

Then it was off to St Agnes Catholic Church in Woodstock where Savio and the guests where waiting for Nelia. The ceremony was beautiful, although I couldn’t understand a word and just hoped I was at the right place at the right time for everything happening :)

Their reception was held at Nooitgedacht, just outside of Stellenbosch, one of my favourite venues.

What I loved about Nelia & Savio’s wedding is how their family helped with everything. Nelia’s aunt made her wedding dress as well as some of the bridesmaid’s dresses. The other bridesmaid’s dresses where made by another aunt. And Nelia’s mom made all the crochet decor and cross stitch table numbers.

The wind was absolutely howling, so the ceremony wasn’t held on the beach, but it didn’t take away how incredibly special the day was. In fact, I think it added to the day. Made it even more special and memorable.

I really enjoyed working with the FJS team for the first time. I wonder if they are also still trying to get rid of the sand in their gear bags :)

Here’s a few favourites from the day …

Today I bring you Emily and Andrew’s classic and elegant wedding. Emily is such a beautiful girl and she looked absolutely exquisite on the day and the love between her Andrew is so evident.  The setting for the wedding was Morgenhof, just outside Stellenbosch. The perfect venue with lush green lawns and big oak trees.

The weekend’s celebrations started with good old South African potjiekos made by Heinrich himself. I’m sure it must have taken him the whole day to get that huge pot going!

Susan & Heinrich’s family made me feel so welcome and I just wanted to say thank you again to everyone. I enjoyed spending the whole weekend with you and thank you so much for having me as your photographer. It was an incredible experience.

The morning of the wedding everyone helped with the flowers and setting setting up.

Susan wore an incredibly beautiful dress by Gelieft. Her bridemaid’s dresses where also by Gelieft.

On the beach it looked like there was a storm brewing …

The reception was held at Fynbos golf club.

Susan sang Songbird from Eva Cassidy (if I remember correctly), and it was too beautiful for words. I think everyone cried.
