activesync syncs my exchange inbox with my hero but not my calendar, contacts, subfolders or any other folder (deleted items, etc). it looks like the folders are there, but they are actually empty. the calendar issue is not really a problem now that i am using Google Calendar Sync, but i would like ALL my exchange email to be on my phone!
any ideas?

For example: I'm using Googlemail and want to go back to the home screen, to click on Google Maps app icon. Well, that action of going back to home takes anything form 10 to 40 secs. While it reloads it shows first the white screen with HTC logo and after that the "loading" screen.

1. Found out you cant store and run apps from the SD card. That makes the SD card only half useful since it can only be used for music, vids, photos, etc. I hear the new version of Android might fix this.

2. I couldn't find anywhere information about the applications and whether they continue to run in the background after they are closed. Is there a way to close or kill applications? Should I even care if they're closed or not?

3. My battery life is crap. When I had the GPS turned on it lasted half a day, even if I wasn't using the phone. This is one of the reasons I started questioning #2 above. I understand the GPS being used if I start say google maps, but why would the GPS be active if the phone is just in standby, or I'm using Googlemail or something.

4. The WiFi icon at the top doesn't always show the signal strength. At work, we have WEP encryption and the icon shows the strength. At home I have WPA and the icon always indicates no signal strength, even though all my laptops and other devices have full bars. I could be inches away from the router and the WiFi icon still shows no bars. It works though.

5. Also related to the WiFi, while at home, the phone keeps exiting WiFi every time it goes on standby it seems. Once I start using it again, the WiFi kicks back in. I read that this was an issue with the G1 but was fixed in the G2. Am I missing something, some setting?

Finally, I want to unlock my phone and root it. I wasn't able to find any information regarding rooting the G2, all posts are for the G1. So can it be done? What are the advantages of rooting the phone? I assume it's so that you can install any ROM you want. I'd love to install Android 2.0 Donut and don't want to wait for Rogers to take their sweet time to do it.

After installing Sense to my HTC magic , i've not been able to use contact photos anywhere other than in my contact list. Like when people call me , either i dont see their contact photos or i see the wrong contact's photos. I tried to flash the RADIO to version 2_22_19_26I with cyanogen-recovery 1.4, because I read that RADIO-3.22.20.17 does not suit the 32B. I did that for it turned out that I had flashed it somehow into a 32A which is not what I had in mind.
Now I can't start into flashback or recovery or Cupcake. No hard- or softreset, no volume down & power, no adb devices.

In the beginning I had to use a goldcard and perform a downgrade to 1.5 in order to flash the cm-recovery with flashrec. I was able to change the SPL to 1.33.2005 as you can see. After trying amon-ra's recovery it was clear that it was however 32A-ized, because I had to use the H version and not the G one. Subsequently the 32B ROMs didn't work. I saw that other people confused their 32B in the same way and that they flashed the RADIO.

The question now is: Is it really really bricked or do I have a last chance? A trick a havn't read about so far?

I thought i'd just stick it out with the official updates and stuff, but seeing as they are sleeved down versions of Android that take months to arrive I've decided to take it into my own hands.

Trouble is, it's really hard for me to do it...frustrating.

I've tried various methods, all seem to end part way through with nothing happening to my phone.

So I just want a tried and tested route to rooting from someone on the same network as me.

I have presently begun using my new HTC Tattoo Android Phone, and I have been very happy for it so far. Sadly I am having a big problem with it's Micro SD card. Sadly I just can't seem to get it to work. No matter how I add music onto the Micro SD card, the music player still says "No Music on device". I have tried copying all the files from the 2 gig to the 4 gig, and then added my music to the Music Folder (in the same folder and manner as the preinstalled music was). This didn't work. Not only didn't it recognize my own music, but it now can't even find the preinstalled music. Furthermore, I have tried wiping the 4 gig, and then adding only music files (so there is only music on it). Despite this, the music player still claims that there is no music on the SD card.

I have tried looking for a search function, so I can show where the music is on the SD card, but haven't found it. I can easily find the music using a File Browsing program, and can even play the music through the file browser. But this only opens the 1 music file in the music player, and it doesn't detect the others, nor does it remember the file it played after I have closed the player.

I don't understand what I am doing wrong, and must admit that it is both tiresome and annoying that adding music has to be so complicated on the Tattoo. I hope that someone can help tell me what I have to do, to change from the 2 gig to 4 gig SD card correctly, and how to add the music to the 4 gig so the player detects it.

I have certain sms's not showing in the messages area. Its only for certain people, about 3 so-far. I can read it when its in the notification area then once I go back in I can't find it. If I go via 'people' and message's then I can see them again. even searching message area won't show them... needless to say driving me crazy!

Like the correct settings on a Toaster, there is actually only a very small amount of change needed for brightness. I find 10% for low, 15% for Normal and 25% for High is all I need

Using the slider is almost impossible to get an accurate setting.

There is a widget included with the Desire HD which toggles between 3 different brightness control, but it's settings are about 25% brightness at lowest, 50% and 100% without anyway to change them.

Install this app below and you can set these settings yourself. No more battery draining.

ich komme gerade von O2, wo man mir kein iPhone geben wollte. Dabei waren die Konditionen doch so schön erschwinglich: Nur 25 Euro für 24 Monate. Aber der Traum ist ja nun leider Schnee von gestern. I read all the similar posts but nothing helped me...

I watched a movie on my plasma last night through my DHD via. USB cable, Im sure it would would work for most new TV's as they all seem to have a USB port in the back.

All i did was plugin the DHD to the TV via. USB cable and set the phone to "Storage Mode" and a box came up on my TV saying that it had found a "Android Device" and i could watch a movie straight off it, It just had a "explorer" type menu and you can select movies, pictures or music Which i thought was pretty awesum!

Give it a go if you have a USB port on your TV, mines a Samsung Plasma about 1.5 years old.


NOTE: It worked fine for me but im not sure about voltages etc... it charged my phone at the same time, but i guess if you TV knows its an Android Phone like it did in my case, its probably made to be able to do it.
