For network reliability, Google says that it’s upgraded its dual cellular switching technology on Pixel phones, and the service can now automatically transition between multiple international networks in real time, locking onto the strongest available signal.

Google has also expanded its high-speed 5G footprint to 22 new locations, including Colombia and Morocco, which finally brings 5G access to more than 110 countries. Subscribers looking to connect multiple devices can use data-only eSIMs to share their coverage with up to five additional devices, such as smartwatches and tablets for free.

Additionally, Google Fi’s built-in encrypted VPN is now available in more international destinations, including Japan and South Korea to protect users on unsecure public Wi-Fi networks. Additionally, the company is rolling out its Wi-Fi Auto-Connect+ (W+) feature across select locations in Europe and Asia. The W+ network automatically connects devices to encrypted, premium indoor Wi-Fi that performs up to twice as reliably as cellular data alone.

The Google Fi app has also been updated with new setup and troubleshooting tools—it can verify when SIM and messaging services are functioning properly before departure, and can even diagnose technical issues and provides step-by-step guidance for manual adjustments when a user is abroad.

Finally, Google also launched a limited-time promotion for new subscribers—customers who sign up for the Unlimited Premium plan before June 30, 2026, will receive a 50% discount on their service for the first 12 months.

On paper, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate can automatically detect which language is currently being spoken (with support for more than 70 languages) without requiring manual configuration. It’s also designed to handle loud or unpredictable environments, and all audio generated by the model is embedded with a SynthID watermark for authenticity.

With that in mind, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate is rolling out across Google’s entire ecosystem, and will be available globally on the Google Translate app for iOS and Android. Google says that users wearing headphones will experience a mirrored tone translation, and Android users have the added benefit of “listening mode” which allows them to hold the phone to their ear to listen to translations a bit more discreetly.

Meanwhile, Enterprise users will see the feature integrated into Google Meet starting this month in a private preview for select Google Workspace customers.

Honestly, it isn’t always the big and flashy features that gets us, it’s the smaller, thoughtful features that work quietly in the background.

You can also set custom thresholds. Tell the system to hold off on watering during anything more than a light drizzle, or only pause for heavy rain. Traditional timer-based systems can’t do that.

Feed Your Lawn While You Water It

The defining feature of the Govee Lantern Floor Lamp is what Govee calls Halo Gradient Lighting. This is powered by the company’s LuminBlend+ color technology. It produces a soft, ring-shaped glow that radiates outward through a silicone diffuser shade. The effect is subtle but striking. You get warm-to-cool transitions that look more natural than anything you’d expect from a smart lamp.

The findings from France’s General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) concluded that the company “misled” consumers regarding Joy-Con drift defects on original Switch controllers. DGCCRF adds that Nintendo was “fully aware” of the responsiveness and drifting issues as early as 2018 but withheld this information from the public until 2020; this lack of transparency directly led consumers to purchase unnecessary replacement controllers rather than seeking repairs.

The regulatory action originates from a 2020 complaint filed by the French consumer association UFC-Que Choisir. The group had previously looked into Nintendo regarding notions of “planned obsolescence” (the intentional design of products with a limited lifespan), and noted that Nintendo’s subsequent manufacturing updates failed to rectify the defect despite internal knowledge of the flaw.

For those unaware of the matter, Joy-Con drift refers to hardware issues with the analog controls on the Nintendo Switch, which at a certain point would stop working properly—this led to unwanted movement, poor responsiveness during gameplay, and such.

In response, Nintendo of Europe stated that it did not intentionally mislead consumers, and emphasized that agreeing to the €35 million payout represents a resolution to the legal proceedings although does not constitute an admission of guilt.

According to tipster Yogesh Brar, that might be changing. A new report via Smartprix claims OnePlus is developing an entirely new lineup called the N series. It targets the budget segment with multiple models at different price tiers, with some reportedly coming in under Rs 20,000, which works out to around $209.

A separate tip from Android Headlines suggests the cheapest model could go even lower, under $150. If accurate, this would be the first time OnePlus budget smartphones have had their own dedicated lineup below the Nord. The phones are expected to launch in July. Worth noting is that they may be rebranded versions of the Turbo 6X devices OnePlus is introducing in China this week.

Don’t Get Too Excited Just Yet

For now, this is limited to India, and OnePlus has reportedly been pulling back from Western markets entirely. So whether OnePlus budget smartphones ever reach a broader global audience is genuinely unclear.

That said, if the N series finds its footing and OnePlus rediscovers what made it worth paying attention to in the first place, it’s hard not to hope the rest of the world eventually gets a look.

Google announced today that AI Plus is getting a price cut from $7.99 to $4.99 a month, with annual plans dropping from $79.99 to $49.99. On top of that, storage doubles from 200GB to 400GB across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. The storage bump rolls out over the next few days; the lower price kicks in at your next billing cycle.

What You Actually Get

For $4.99, you’re getting 2x higher Gemini usage limits compared to the free tier, a 128k context window, and access to NotebookLM and Daily Brief. Omni Flash video generation is in there too, along with expanded features across Gmail and Docs. To be clear, this isn’t the same as paying $20 for ChatGPT Plus. Usage limits are tighter, and you won’t have access to the top-tier models that heavy users lean on. But if you use Gemini a few times a day and already live in Google’s apps, Google AI Plus covers a lot of ground for the price.

The 400GB of storage is a reasonable pitch on its own for anyone already paying for extra Google One space. At $4.99 a month, it’s worth checking whether Google AI Plus just replaced a plan you were already paying for.

Apple confirmed at WWDC that no devices were dropped. Every iPhone that runs iOS 26 will run iOS 27 this fall. That goes all the way back to the iPhone 11 from 2019. For context, iOS 26 had already cut the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, so the 11 was already the oldest model on the list going in, and it survived another year.

But There’s a Catch

Getting iOS 27 and getting everything in iOS 27 are two different things. Apple’s headline feature for the release is Siri AI, a completely rebuilt assistant powered by Apple Intelligence and Google’s Gemini. But as we covered earlier this week, Siri AI has its own hardware requirements that go well beyond just running the OS. You need at least an A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM, which puts the cutoff at the iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, and standard iPhone 15 all get iOS 27 but not Siri AI.

The iOS 27 compatible iPhones list hasn’t shrunk, and that’s genuinely good news for anyone still rocking an older device. Just know that Apple’s long software support and its AI feature support are now running on two separate tracks.

Siri AI compatible iPhones start at the A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM, which puts the floor at the iPhone 15 Pro. Anything below the iPhone 15 Pro is out. That covers the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, plus every iPhone 14 and older. Those devices can still update to iOS 27, but the headline feature of the whole release simply won’t be there.

Not Every iPhone Made the Cut

That’s a significant chunk of people. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are still two of the most widely used iPhone models in the world, and neither qualifies. Apple supports its devices with software updates for years, which is one of the things iPhone owners genuinely appreciate. But software support and AI feature support are now two different things. You can run iOS 27 on an iPhone 12. Siri AI compatible iPhones start several generations later.

To be fair, the hardware reasoning is legitimate. Running on-device AI models takes real resources, and Apple has been upfront that the A17 Pro and 8GB of RAM are the floor for what Siri AI needs to function. That’s not an arbitrary cutoff. But it does mean millions of users with no reason to upgrade are now on the outside of Apple’s biggest software moment in years.

Worth noting: even within Siri AI compatible iPhones, not every device gets the same experience. Apple’s most powerful on-device model requires at least 12GB of RAM, which limits the full experience to the iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Owners of the standard iPhone 17 and anything back to the iPhone 15 Pro get Siri AI, but not the top tier of it.

And if you’re in the EU, hardware isn’t even the issue. Apple confirmed at WWDC that Siri AI won’t be coming to iPhone or iPad in Europe when iOS 27 launches, with no timeline attached. The Digital Markets Act requires Apple to give third-party virtual assistants the same deep system access as Siri AI, which Apple says it can’t do safely. Regulators rejected its proposed workarounds. EU users on Mac and Apple Watch will get it. iPhone and iPad are the exception.

At WWDC 2026, Apple officially unveiled Siri AI, and honestly? The demo looked genuinely impressive. That’s the problem.

Apple showed Siri AI handling chained, multi-step requests across apps without breaking a sweat. Ask it to find photos from a weekend trip, filter by specific people, add them to a shared album, and share with the family. All without even opening the Photos app.

It pulled contact info from old unsaved messages, cross-referenced Messages and Mail simultaneously, and navigated maps using context from an on-screen photo. For those unfamiliar, the new Siri AI runs at the system level rather than inside a sandboxed window, powered by a next-generation Apple Foundation Model built on Google’s Gemini. Apple acknowledged upfront that users expect more from Siri. That’s a quiet way of admitting what the rest of us already knew.

We’ve Seen This Before

The original Siri launched in 2011 as a revolution in how we’d interact with our phones. It was buggy and limited, and spent years as the butt of every tech joke. Apple Maps arrived in 2012 with a splashy keynote and promptly sent people into lakes. Then came Apple Intelligence, sold as the reason to buy an iPhone 16. Then Apple quietly pulled its own ads after the features failed to work as shown.

Siri AI’s demo is legitimately more convincing than anything Apple has shown before. The Google Gemini backbone gives it real horsepower, and the system-level integration is something no third-party AI app can replicate. But we’ve sat through the demos. We’ve seen the keynote confidence. The only thing that actually matters now is what happens when this lands on real phones in real people’s hands.

Priced at well below 200 bucks, Govee promises a smarter and more versatile indoor lighting experience, going beyond the confines of the living room, and into more versatile setups around the rest of your home. What exactly can you expect with this one, though? Let’s take a look.

Design and Lighting Hardware

As you can probably tell from its name, the Floor Lamp 3 comes with a fairly simple-looking design that measures around 60 inches, with a base that packs most of the hardware and serves as an anchor point for the rest of the lamp. Interestingly, the base component also features ambient built-in lighting which complements the rest of the lamp. The lamp itself features a simple minimalist design which barely takes up any space, meaning that you can place it even in rather tight corners. As with any other lamp however, it will require power via a wall socket.

Govee does pack everything needed to get you started with the lamp—in addition to the lamp base and the light strip, the Floor Lamp 3 also comes with a power adapter, remote control, metal slots for the strip, and even a screwdriver for assembly. Installation is pretty straightforward (thankfully) and once running you can use it straight away, though we’d recommend doing a bit more customization which you can do via your smartphone.

In terms of lighting capabilities, the Floor Lamp 3 comes with Govee’s Luminblend+ technology, in addition to a 1000K to 10,000K color temperature range, which can easily blend with different setups such as workspaces which require cooler ambience, all the way to living room scenarios which could do with some warm and moody indoor lighting. When pushed all the way, it can also get rather bright at up to 2100 lumens, which provides a nice contrast to most other interior setups. Govee has also included more than a hundred different scene modes which you can access using the companion app.

Usage and Additional Features

As it comes with smart features, the Govee Floor Lamp 3 comes with extra functionality not found on your usual indoor lamp. In addition to the more advanced lighting system, you’re also getting wireless connectivity via 2.4Ghz WiFi as well as Bluetooth, which means that you will be able to control the light using your smartphone and the companion app. In addition to this, you can use the bundled remote which arguably makes things a bit simpler, or go via the voice control route which supports Alexa, Google Assistant/Gemini, Matter and Samsung SmartThings.

Interestingly, the lamp comes with support for Govee’s “DaySync” feature, a rather clever approach to making sure that the lamp always blends in well with the interior mood and lighting depending on the time of day. Govee says that the feature’s automatic adjustments are also based on local weather and circadian rhythms, which does reduce the hassle of manually adjusting the lamp every time you want to match the external lighting.

As it is a Govee product, the Floor Lamp 3 is designed to work with Govee’s own “DreamView” technology, which essentially allows different Govee lighting devices to sync with each other, provided that they all support the feature.
