Best known for its unforgettable role in American history.

In July 1861, Union and Confederate forces faced off near the railroad community of Manassas Junction for the first major battle of the Civil War.

The Historic Manassas Train Station was constructed in 1904. In 1912 it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt on the original foundation in 1914.

Happy New Year to you!

I hope that you had a fabulous celebration yesterday!

My whole day was wonderful and was the perfect close to 2011, and opening to 2012. Time spent with my family eating delicious homemade food.

With great joy, I woke up this morning feeling well-rested and refreshed on this beautifuyl Sunday, with temperatures in the 60's all day.

I'm so looking forward to another year of new ideas & collections, projects and challenges. A sincere thanks to all of you for reading this little space where I record my creative life, commenting, and supporting what I do here. I am truly grateful!

First there were kraft paper mini bags, watercolor paper, a snowflake paper punch, red alpaca yarn, stamps & red ink...

and of course, surprises!

Then there were fifty bags filled with surprises (25 for each of my kids), an ivory wooden pole, and a stair handrail.

Thanksgiving is just less than two weeks away.

Are you making pumpkin pie? I don't think I'll make the pie but I will definitely make some delicious cream like soup with the last pumpkins of the season. A spicy soup with cinnamon croutons.

Just about an hour away from Washington, DC.
Middleburg, Virginia is a little town rich in tradition. A great way to spend the day or the weekend, exploring the town's antique stores, restaurants, historical sites, and vineyards.
We spent a day there two weeks ago and loved it!!

We were dusted by the storm on Saturday. In our area it was only wet snow, but it was really cold!
The last time that a significant amount of snow fell on the Washington, DC region in October was 1979, according to the weather service.

Saturday afternoon

Yesterday we spent the day in Middleburg and even though it was not a winter wonderland, there was some snow on the ground.

A visit to Bolivia would not be complete without a visit to the local market.

The Wednesday market in Cochabamba takes over a big part of the downtown area. There are stalls everywhere selling anything you can think of. I always say that if you can't find it there is because it doesn't exist.
