Princess Marie gave birth to a girl at 8:27 am (local time) today at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark. The little princess weighed 2930 grams (6.45 lbs) and her length was 49 cm (19.29 in.).

With this latest birth announcement from her younger son Prince Joachim, Queen Margrethe II has now eight grandchildren.

Zara Phillips, only daughter of The Princess Royal, married Michael James Tindall in Canongate Kirk at 3:00pm (local time) today. Her gown was designed by Stewart Parvin. The veil was anchored by the Princess Andrew of Greece meander tiara. The tiara was given to Princess Anne by Queen Elizabeth II around 1972. Zara also wore Jimmy Choo shoes and borrowed her mother’s diamond pendant earrings.

Captain Mark Phillips escorted his daughter into the church whilst the Reverend Neil Gardner presided over the ceremony. Zara Phillips is the second grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II.

Archbishop Bernard Barsi, Head Chaplain of the Prince's Palace, blessed the royal nuptials between Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene at 5:00 pm today in the Palace of Monaco’s main courtyard. The bride wore an off-white silk duchesse Giorgio Armani Privé wedding dress with an off-white silk tulle veil. Her wedding bouquet consisted of freesias, dendrobium orchids and lilies of the valley. Albert dressed in the summer uniform of the Palace Guards. The couple exchanged 18 carat white gold platinum wedding bands designed by Cartier.

At 5:00 pm today, Prince Albert II of Monaco wedded Charlene Wittstock in a civil ceremony officiated by Philippe Narmino, Director of the Judicial Services and President of the Council of State. The proceedings took place in the throne room of the Palace of Monaco. The religious ceremony will start at 5:00 pm tomorrow in the main courtyard of the palace. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have chosen not to depart for a honeymoon immediately. Instead, after spending the weekend privately in the United Kingdom, The Duke will return to work as a Search and Rescue pilot next week.

The locations of both their private weekend before The Duke returns to work and their future honeymoon, which will be overseas, will not be disclosed in advance.

The Couple have asked that their privacy be respected during the coming weekend and during their honeymoon.

Ivory silk tulle veiled Catherine’s face. Her Cartier scroll tiara was on loan from Queen Elizabeth II’s collection. It formerly belonged to the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.

Catherine Middleton’s modest flower bouquet had myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, sweet William and hyacinth. Her diamond earrings were fashioned into an acorn and oak leaf design.

Prince Vincent Frederik Minik Alexander and Princess Josephine Sophia Ivalo Mathilda, twin grandchildren of Queen Margrethe II, were christened in Holmens Kirke at 3:30 pm (local time) today. Bishop Erik Norman Svendsen presided over the ceremony. Afterwards, a reception was held in Frederik VIII’s Palace.

Royal godparents for Vincent are the Prince of Asturias and Prince Gustav zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg. Princess Josephine’s royal godparents are Princess Marie and Prince Charles de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles.

Princess Ariane, the youngest daughter of the Prince of Orange, started in group 1A at the Openbare Bloemcampschool in Wassenaar yesterday. She was accompanied by her parents and two sisters. Boots were the footwear of choice for the day. Her mother Princess Máxima wore a patterned dress with thigh high suede boots. Ariane teamed her sweater and skirt with laced brown boots whilst Amalia and Alexia dressed up their outfits with black boots.

Ariane turned 4 years old on April 10th.

Emperor Akihito of Japan comforted his people in a rare televised address on Wednesday. In his speech, he told the country not to "abandon hope" despite the devastation caused by last Friday’s earthquake and tsunami. The emperor also expressed his sorrow and conveyed sympathy for the deaths and damages caused by the catastrophic event.

The Earl of Wessex celebrates his 47th birthday today and elevation in the Royal Victorian Order. In reward for his services to the Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II bestowed her third son Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO). Edward was appointed previously Commander (CVO, 1989) and Knight Commander (KCVO, 2003) of the Royal Victorian Order.

The prince is also a Royal Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter (KG). He was appointed to the Order of the Garter in 2006.

The children were delivered at Righospitalet in Copenhagen.
