1.Frog-Like Baby

2006, this bizarre-looking baby was born in Charikot, the headquarters of Dolakha district, attracting a huge number of onlookers to witness the astonishing sight.

The neck-less baby with its head almost totally sunk into the upper part of the body and with extraordinarily large eyeballs literally popping out of the eye-sockets, was born to Nir Bahadur Karki and Suntali Karki at the Gaurishnkar Hospital in Charikot. The Karki couple is a permanent resident of Dolakha's Bhirkot VDC.

The bizarre baby, however, died after half an hour of its birth, Suntali, the mother, informed. It was taken to the hospital after its death. The news about such a baby being brought to the hospital spread like wildfire and there were hundreds gathered at the hospital to have a look. The police had to be deployed to control the crowd.

The baby weighed 2kg at birth and was born after the normal nine-month gestation period. Suntali, already a mother of two normal daughters, was not suffering from any illness during the pregnancy. Nir Bahadur, the father, says he does not feel any remorse for the newly-born baby's death. "I am happy that nothing happened to my wife," he said.

2.Cyclop Baby

On 2006, this baby was born with a only one eye in India. Medical staff who helped deliver the child believe that the child's condition was caused by an experimental anti-cancer drug. Another cause written in the report by the hospital was that it could also be the result of a chromosomal disorder. The child was diagnosed with a rare chromosomal disorder, known as cyclopia. She was born with a single eye in the center of her forehead, no nose and her brain fused into a single hemisphere. With such severe deformities, it was a miracle that the girl survived even a few minutes after delivery. The baby died days later.

3.Worlds Largest Hand

Lui Hua suffers from a rare condition known as macrodactyly. When he was hospitalized in Shanghai on July 2007, his left thumb measured 10.2 inches and his index finger measured close to 12. On July 20 surgeons undertook a seven-hour operation to reduce the size of Liu's fingers and thumb. Doctors removed 11 pounds of flesh and bone in the procedure. A second surgery is scheduled to take place. Enlarged limbs can be caused by a number of medical conditions. Lymphedema is perhaps the most common cause and results in some extraordinarily enlarged limbs.

4.Feet Facing Backwards

Wang Fang, 27, of Chongqing city in China, was born with her feet facing the wrong way. She has learned to live with her condition without problems and recently refused a disability pension by being classified as disabled. "I can run faster than most of my friends and have a regular job as a waitress in the family restaurant. There is no reason to class me as disabled."

5.Baby With Three Arms

This 2-month-old baby named Liu Junjie from Anhui Province, China, was born with a third arm on 2006. Doctors successfully removed the extremely rare and well-developed third arm, but the baby required long-term physical therapy to gain function in his remaining hand, which has no palm and flexes in either direction. "We're hoping to exchange information with doctors who've dealt with similar cases anywhere in the world," said Chen, head of the orthopedics department at Shanghai Children's Medical Center. "This is so rare that we have virtually no information to go on."

1.Arthur Mole's Living Formations

Almost a century ago and without the aid of any pixel-generating computer software, the itinerant photographer Arthur Mole (1889-1983) used his 11 x 14-inch view camera to stage a series of extraordinary mass photographic spectacles that choreographed living bodies into symbolic formations of religious and national community.

In these mass ornaments, thousands of military troops and other groups were arranged artfully to form American patriotic symbols, emblems, and military insignia visible from a bird's eye perspective.

During World War I, these military formations came to serve as rallying points to support American involvement in the war and to ward off isolationist tendencies.

2.Canopy Formation World Record

On July 2008, three Kennedy Space Center engineers helped set two new world records in the parachuting sport of "canopy formation", with 81- and 85-person formation dives that took place over Lake Wales.

1.Grand Canyon Skywalk (Arizona - USA)
This horseshoe-shaped pant-filler hangs approximately 4000ft above the floor and extends 65ft beyond the edge of the Grand Canyon. The Horseshoe shaped skywalk is constructed of glass walls 4 inches thick and visitors must don special scratch-proof socks as they partake in the view. The work is a true engineering feat that can hold up to 70 tons (roughly 14 African Elephants) and withstands winds of 100mph.

2.Aurland Lookout (Norway)
Architects Todd Saunders and Tommie Wilhelmsen were commissioned to design a scenic rest-stop 2'000ft above Aurland fjord in Norway and came up with this beauty wining the first prize in Norwegian tourist routes competition. The outermost end of the horizontal platform - which curves to form the structure's support - is closed off by a sheet of glass, offering an incredible view towards the ground for all those with the guts to make the trip to the end.

3.Top of Tyrol (Austria)
Top of Tyrol by Astearchitecture is a viewing platform located 3,000 m above sea level at the Stubai Glacier in Tyrol, Austria. Weathering steel was used in the construction of this structure to account for the extreme weather conditions so you can stand 9 metres away from the mountain with a perfect view of Stubai glacier.

4.Dachstein Sky Walk (Austria)
Nicknamed the "balcony of the alps," the Dachstein Sky Walk is formally enthroned at 2,700 m above sea-level, high up on the 250 m vertical rock face of the Hunerkogel. A 360 degree panorama allows the visitor a view of Slovenia in the south to the Czech Republic in the north. The Sky Walk is distinctly higher than the platforms of the Niagara Falls or even the one at the Iguazu waterfalls in Brazil.

Auckland's 328m Sky Tower is the southern hemisphere's tallest structure. It took 2000 tonnes of reinforcing steel, 660 tonnes of structural steel and 15,000 cubic metres of concrete to erect it. It can withstand 200km/h winds, earthquakes up to eight on the Richter scale and on a clear day, visibility is around 82km. The highest indoor point is Sky Deck, which has seamless glass giving unimpeded 360º views.

Thailand has beaten challenges from New Zealand and Wales for the world's longest place name. Internet websites in all three countries claim that odd tourist magnet. Let's examine their claims.

WALES boasts a village called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (58 letters), which in English means "Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of Saint Tysilio near the red cave." The locals call it Llanfairpwll (pronounced thlan vire puth). We'll call it L56h.
"The name of this world-famous station and village was created in the early 19th century by a local humourist," says Tourists to Wales.

"The station of Llanfair PG (the usual abbreviation) was the first on Anglesey, and opened in 1848. After a 20-year closure in 1973 to 1993, it re-opened in 1994 having been restored... During your visit you could also have lunch in the 'Sidings Restaurant.'"

An English website, Go! Britannia, says: "Thousands of visitors are attracted yearly to photograph its famous 15-ft long sign found on the railway station platform... (A little secret: as many double letters in English are regarded as single letters in Welsh, the name has only 51 letters)."Internet sites normally have a maximum of 28 letters but the rules were bent for L56h. Its website says the village was known until the 19th century as Llanfair Pwllgwyngyll - St Mary's church near the pool by the white hazels. To encourage train travellers to stop off, a cobbler suggested stretching the name. Local author John Williams believes that a tailor coined the tongue-twisting name to confuse the English.

It seems to many of us these days that the peace of technologies change is so great that it outstrips our imaginations-just as soon as we can concieve of the next nifty electronic gadget we'd like to have, we find out that somebody has already built it.

Miniaturized devices such as cameras and telephone are examples of now-common technologies that just a few years ago most of us rarely encountered outside the ficitional world of spy thrillers. Miniaturized personal computers are the next logical step, but many readers might be surprised to learn that a plan for PC components housed in devices the sizes and shape of ballpoint pens was showcased by a major electronics company over two years ago.
At the 2003 ITU Telecom World exhibition held in Geneva, the Tokio-based NEC corportion displayed a conceptual prototype of what they dubbed a "Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget Package," or P-ISM. As NEC described the P-ISM:P-ISM is a gadget package including five functions: a pen-style cellular phone with a handwriting data input function, virtual keyboard, a very small projector, camera scanner,and personal ID key with cashless pass function. P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-range wireless technology. The whole set is also connected to the internet through the cellular phone function. This personal gadget in a minimalistic pen style enables the ultimate ubiquitous computing.

The P-ISM system was based on "low-cost electronic perception technology" produced by the San Jose, California,firm of Canesta,Inc., developers of technologies such as the "virtual keyboard".We've dubbed this item"party true" beacause, as far as we know, no functional prototype of P-ISML system was built or displayed. An Indonesian fisherman who feared that he would be killed by tree-like growths covering his body has been given hope of recovery by an American doctor - and Vitamin A.Dede, now 35, baffled medical experts when warty "roots" began growing out of his arms and feet after he cut his knee in a teenage accident.The welts spread across his body unchecked and soon he was left unable to carry out everyday household tasks.Sacked from his job and deserted by his wife, Dede has been raising his two children - now in their late teens - in poverty, resigned to the fact that local doctors had no cure for his condition.To make ends meet he even joined a local "freak show", parading in front of a paying audience alongside victims of other peculiar diseases.
Although supported by his extended family, he was often a target of abuse and ridicule in his rural fishing village.But now an American dermatology expert who flew out to Dede's home village south of the capital Jakarta claims to have identified his condition, and proposed a treatment that could transform his life.After testing samples of the lesions and Dede's blood, Dr Anthony Gaspari of the University of Maryland concluded that his affliction is caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), a fairly common infection that usually causes small warts to develop on sufferers.Dede's problem is that he has a rare genetic fault that impedes his immune system, meaning his body is unable to contain the warts.The virus was therefore able to "hijack the cellular machinery of his skin cells", ordering them to produce massive amounts of the substance that caused the tree-like growths known as "cutaneous horns" on his hands and feet.
Dede's counts of a key type of white blood cell are so low that Dr Gaspari initially suspected he may have the Aids virus.But tests showed he did not, and it became clear that Dede's immune condition was something far rarer and more mysterious.

Warts aside, he had enjoyed remarkable good health throughout his life - which would not be expected of someone with a suppressed immune system - and neither his parents nor his siblings have shown signs of developing lesions.

"The likelihood of having his deficiency is less than one in a million," Dr Gaspari told the Telegraph.Dr Gaspari, who became involved in the case through a Discovery Channel documentary, believes that Dede's condition can be largely cleared up by a daily doses of a synthetic form of Vitamin A, which has been shown to arrest the growth of warts in severe cases of HPV."He won't have a perfectly normal body but the warts should reduce in size to the point where he could use his hands," Dr Gaspari said."Over the course of three to six months the warts should be come smaller and fewer in number. He will be living a more normal life."
The most resilient warts could then be frozen off and the growths on his hands and feet surgically removed.Dr Gaspari hopes to get the necessary drugs free of charge from pharmaceutical firms. They would then be administered by Indonesian doctors under his supervision.Still intrigued by the origins of Dede's peculiar immune condition, the doctor would like to fly him to the United States for further examination, but fears the financial and bureaucratic barriers would prove too difficult to overcome. "I would like to bring him to the US to run tests on where his immune condition has come from, but I would need funding and to get him a visa as well as someone to cover the costs of the tests," he said."I've never seen anything like this in my entire career."

Shigechiyo Izumi (Izumi Shigechiyo, Shigechiyo Izumi? Tokunoshima, Amami Islands, June 29, 1865? – February 21, 1986) was a Japanese supercentenarian and, according to Guinness World Records, became the person with the greatest authenticated age in the world after the death of Niwa Kawamoto, also from Japan. Assuming his claimed birth-date is correct, he would have attained an age of 120 years and 237 days, older than any other recognized male, and be the second-longest lived human ever, second only to Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment.He also holds the record for the longest working career for a person, spanning 98 years. He was recorded as a six-year-old in Japan's first Census of 1871.

Izumi's wife died at the age of 90.[citation needed] He drank brown sugar shochu (shochu is a Japanese alcoholic beverage often distilled from barley or rice), and took up smoking at age 70.[2] He began his career in 1872 goading draft animals at a sugar mill, and retired as a sugarcane farmer in 1970 at the age of 105.[citation needed] He attributed his long life to "the Gods, Buddha and the Sun." He stood at 1.42 meters (four feet, eight inches) tall, weighed 42.6 kilograms (94 pounds) and lived through 71 Japanese Prime Ministers.
He died of pneumonia[1] after a brief hospitalization at 12:15 GMT, the same day as Jeanne Calment's 111th birthday. Izumi was the last recognized surviving person of the 1860s, the only male to live at least 116 years and the longest holder of the "oldest living person" title.
Following his death, Mamie Eva Keith became the world's oldest person. For more than 20 years after his death every person with the title of the world's oldest living person was female until Emiliano Mercado del Toro became the world's oldest living person on December 11, 2006.

When your parents were young, people could buy cigarettes and smoke pretty much anywhere even in hospitals! Ads for cigarettes were all over the place. Today we're more aware about how bad smoking is for our health. Smoking is restricted or banned in almost all public places and cigarette companies are no longer allowed to advertise on TV, radio, and in many magazines.
Almost everyone knows that smoking causes cancer, emphysema, and heart disease; that it can shorten your life by 10 years or more; and that the habit can cost a smoker thousands of dollars a year. So how come people are still lighting up? The answer, in a word, is addiction.

*Once You Start, It's Hard to StopSmoking is a hard habit to break because tobacco contains nicotine, which is highly addictive. Like heroin or other addictive drugs, the body and mind quickly become so used to the nicotine in cigarettes that a person needs to have it just to feel normal.
*People start smoking for a variety of different reasons. Some think it looks cool. Others start because their family members or friends smoke. Statistics show that about 9 out of 10 tobacco users start before they're 18 years old. Most adults who started smoking in their teens never expected to become addicted. That's why people say it's just so much easier to not start smoking at all.
*How Smoking Affects Your HealthThere are no physical reasons to start smoking. The body doesn't need tobacco the way it needs food, water, sleep, and exercise. In fact, many of the chemicals in cigarettes, like nicotine and cyanide, are actually poisons that can kill in high enough doses.
*The body is smart. It goes on the defense when it's being poisoned. For this reason, many people find it takes several tries to get started smoking: First-time smokers often feel pain or burning in the throat and lungs, and some people feel sick or even throw up the first few times they try tobacco.

On January 31 2004 SCO Group Inc. in Colorado started experienceing DDOS attacks thanks to the MyDoom worm.

After all was said and done an estimated $38.5 billion USD in economic damage was done.
The SCO Group offered a $250,000 reward for the capture of the creator of the MyDoom.A virus and later Microsoft offered a $250,000 reward for the capture of the creator of the MyDoom.B virus. The rewards have yet to be claimed.

The Airbus A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine airliner manufactured by the European corporation Airbus, an EADS subsidiary. The largest passenger airliner in the world, the A380 made its maiden flight on 27 April 2005 from Toulouse, France,and made its first commercial flight on 25 October 2007 from Singapore to Sydney with Singapore Airlines. The aircraft was known as the Airbus A3XX during much of its development phase, but the nickname Superjumbo has since become associated with it.

The A380's upper deck extends along the entire length of the fuselage. This allows for a cabin with 50% more floor space than the next-largest airliner, the Boeing 747-400,and provides seating for 525 people in standard three-class configuration or up to 853 people in all economy class configuration.The A380 is offered in passenger and freighter versions. The A380-800, the passenger model, is the largest passenger airliner in the world, but has a shorter fuselage than the Airbus A340-600 which is Airbus' next biggest passenger aeroplane. The A380-800F, the freighter model, is offered as one of the largest freight aircraft, with a listed payload capacity exceeded only by the Antonov An-225.

The A380-800 has a design range of 15,200 kilometres (8,200 nmi), sufficient to fly from New York to Hong Kong for example, and a cruising speed of Mach 0.85 (about 900 km/h or 560 mph at cruise altitude).

Freedom Ship is a concept for a floating city proposed by Norman Nixon.
According to Freedom Ship International's website.

With a design length of 4,500 feet (1400 m), a width of 750 feet (230 m), and a height of 350 feet (110 m), Freedom Ship would be more than 4 times longer than the Queen Mary. The design concepts include a mobile modern city featuring luxurious living, an extensive duty-free international shopping mall, and a full 1.7 million square foot (160,000 m²) floor set aside for various companies to showcase their products. Freedom Ship would not be a cruise ship; it is proposed to be a unique place to live, work, retire, vacation, or visit. The ship would continuously circle the globe, covering most of the world's coastal regions. Its large fleet of commuter aircraft and hydrofoils would ferry residents and visitors to and from shore.

The website also envisions adding a subway into the ship, as well as a marina and an area for the residents to place their cars.

Current naval engineering techniques are inadequate for the construction of such a large vessel. Freedom Ship International has said on the Discovery Channel's Engineering the Impossible that they plan to use a barge building technique, which would reduce the stress of the enormous weight. Also, this would reduce the cost of custom made parts for the ship, allowing living costs to be more reasonable. The program has also stated that the propellers would be a series of 400 fully-rotational azipods; yet, despite the high number of screws, the ship would still be the slowest in the world. Although the initially stated in-service date was to be 2001, as of 2008 construction had not yet begun.Net price estimates for the ship have risen from 6 billion US$ in 1999 to 11 billion US$ in 2002.

Sky City 1000 is a possible future urban supertall skyscraper project aimed at helping put an end to major congestion and lack of greenspace in the Tokyo, Japan metropolitan area.
The plan consists of a building 1,000 metres (3,281 ft) tall and 400 m (1,312 ft) wide at the base, and a total floor area of 8 km² (3.1 sq mi).The design, proposed in 1989 by Takenaka Corporation, would house between 35,000 and 36,000 full-time residents, as well as 100,000 workers. It comprises 14 concave dish-shaped "Space Plateaus" stacked one upon the other. The interior of the plateaus would contain greenspace, and on the edges, on the sides of the building, would be the apartments. Also included in the building would be offices, commercial facilities, schools, theatres, and other modern amenities.Since its announcement, it has garnered a lot of attention from the world's architectural establishment, and was featured on CNN's This Week in Japan in 1989, and on Discovery Channel's Extreme Engineering in 2003.Land prices in Japan are the highest in the world, and Kisho Kurokawa, one of Japan's most famous architects, has said that even staggeringly ambitious buildings employing highly sophisticated engineering are still cheap, because companies pay 90 per cent of their money for the land and only 10 per cent for the building.Tokyo's only fire helicopter has even been used in simulation tests to see what the danger would be if a fire were to break out in the building. Triple-decker high speed elevators which would be used in the building are also being designed in labs outside Tokyo.Although this project has gained more serious attention than many of its alternatives, it can be considered similar to projects such as X-Seed 4000 and to ultra-high density, mixed use concepts such as Paolo Soleri's Arcology and Le Corbusier's Radiant City.

The Shimizu TRY 2004 Mega-City Pyramid is a proposed project for construction of a massive pyramid over Tokyo Bay in Japan.The structure would be 12 times higher than the Great Pyramid at Giza, and would house 750,000 people. If built, it will be the largest man-made structure on Earth.

The structure would be 2,004 meters (6,575 feet) high and would answer Tokyo's increasing lack of space.

The proposed structure is so large that it cannot be built with currently available materials, due to their weight. The design relies on the future availability of super-strong lightweight materials based on carbon nanotubes.

Tiny Girl From India

A teenager from India who stands at a tiny 1ft 11in (58cm) tall is the smallest girl in the world. Jyoti Amge, 14, is shorter than the average two-year-old child and only weighs 11lb (5kg).

She has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia and won't grow any taller than her current height. Due to her size, Jyoti has to have clothes and jewellery made for her. She sleeps in a tiny bed and uses special plates and cutlery to eat, as normal-sized utensils are too big. Despite this, she goes to a regular school in Nagpur, central India, where she has her own small desk and chair, and her classmates treat her like any other student.

Jyoti also shares common interests with other teenagers, with a love for DVDs and fashionable dresses. She said: 'I am proud of being small. I love all the attention I get. I'm not scared of being small and I don't regret it. 'I'm just the same as other people. I eat like you, dream like you. I don't feel any different.'

Jyoti is treated like a mini-celebrity in her home town, where people flock to meet her and some even treat her like a goddess. She will even be releasing an album with her favourite Indian pop star, the bhangra/rap star Mika Singh. Her mum, Ranjana Amge, 45, said: 'When Jyoti was born, she seemed quite normal. We came to know about her disorder when she was five.

Oil Ship Break In South Korea

A crane-carrying vessel collided with an oil tanker off of South Korea's west coast today, causing more than 66,000 barrels of crude oil to spill in what was believed to be South Korea's largest offshore oil leak. Officials at the Maritime and Fisheries Ministry, citing Coast Guard reports, initially said about 110,000 barrels had leaked from the Hong Kong-registered tanker. But the Coast Guard later said additional information indicated the amount was significantly lower - about 66,043 barrels.

The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the crane-carrying vessel slammed into the 146,000-ton tanker Hebei Spirit in waters 5 miles off Mallipo beach, some 93 miles southwest of Seoul. The extent of the spill's potential damage to communities or wildlife in the area was not immediately clear, a ministry official said on customary condition of anonymity citing office policy. Jung Se-hi, a Coast Guard officer, said it dispatched 34 coast guard, navy and other government vessels as well as four helicopters to stop the spread of the spill and collect the oil.

He said an emergency floating fence was also set up around the scene but added it would take at least several days to complete the operation. The Coast Guard said in a statement that the collision left holes in three containers aboard the tanker. Spills from two containers were later stopped, but oil was still leaking from the third container. YTN, a 24-hour cable news channel, showed footage of the black oil gushing out of the ship and into the ocean. The tanker was carrying about 260,000 tons of crude oil - or about 1.8 million barrels, another ministry official said, also speaking on condition of anonymity in line with policy. Officials at the ministry and the Coast Guard said the accident was believed to be South Korea's largest offshore oil leak. The previously largest oil spill in South Korea happened in 1995 when about 5,035 tons - some 35,000 barrels - of crude and fuel oil was leaked, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency. In 1989, the Exxon Valdez supertanker released about 260,000 barrels, or 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska's Prince William Sound in what turned into a major environmental disaster.
