I now have news that Ginger Jasper has a home and it appears that he has settled in very fast and made friends with his new housemate! I have just received this email from Kerstin which describes his arrival with his adoptant Karin.

“Jasper has already settled in well and get on with Minou well. When I first saw him on Saturday in the basket brought home, Minou already sniffed through the bars. When I opened the gate, she immediately stuck her head. Jasper then growled, however, and is first marched into the living room, where he has hidden behind the heater. After an hour he came out cautiously. When I woke up once at night, he had already established himself comfortably in a chair and when I awoke in the morning, he was with me in bed.

On Sunday, then the two cats have been closer to dealing with each other in the afternoon they lay together in the bedroom on my bed and at night they first played together.”

She goes on to say thank you to Cony for bringing her such a beautiful cat, and wishes everybody a happy Xmas. Basically she is saying all is fine and she is keeping him, so she does not need any more help, and best wishes!!!

Apparently she visited him in his foster home, where he spent less than a week, loved him immediately and came back the next day to collect him … all VERY fast AND another happy ending!!!!!

I wrote a couple of weeks ago about Lutz’s new best friend.

Now we have more beautiful new photos of Lutz in his new home, and also this from his new owner. This is definitely a happy ending for this lucky cat.

“You can see that Lutzi has finally gone into a happy ending … yes, he belongs here o) ) .. he is such a great cat, purrs all day long, is tiefenentspannt, nice to everyone and everything and is unruffled by anything .. even when we were with him at the vet, he purred o)) AND as you can see on the Fortos, cartons are now his favorite toys …”

SO here is Tommy our lovely old FIV boy chilling out in his new home in Germany.

He’s looking very at home, and that does appear to be the family bed he is lying on, which I think is always a good sign. He is still on trial but things are looking very good, as the main criteria for his ultimate adoption is that he gets on well with the existing cat Socks. I can’t see there being a problem at all from these photos!!!

Kasper was one of our Calle Alcor cats, and having spent several weeks being charming at Pam’s, he has a special place in our hearts. When he was first abandoned, due to his bullying of Monty and Mimi, we weren’t overly fond of him, but once he was inside we realised that he was to people a total charmer, desperate for love and affection.

He travelled to his new home in Germany in May, but because he is a ’special one’, I recently asked for another update on how he was doing. This came back from Germany today:

“so lovely Cäsar or also Carlo, because he is a spainish cat, has a big fear of the geman winter (because it is very cold) and so he gets a bigger and bigger belly for bad times on the heater… He is still tame and cuddle like before, likes to eat very much and everyone who comes into the house likes Cäsar… Up to now he did not learn to say a loud “miau”, he only says very quiet “cheep” like a baby… If Anja leaves the house and put him in front of the housedoor for bellymuscletraining, he directly goes into the housedoor of her parents and sleeps on the same thick belly of her father until she comes back home.He feels very well… If she will find an actual photo, she will sent it to us, otherwise she will send us a nice picture in the next few days…”

SO it appears all is VERY well with him, and he is being totally spoilt. I am particularly pleased that he has his fat belly back, as when we first saw him on the street he was far from thin. He then became sad and thin and even Pam failed to give him back his belly in the time he was with her. Now it seems he is back to his full glory and confidence! I look forward to new pictures, and once again am SO impressed by the organisation we work with in Germany, and Kasper’s new parents. They by the way seem to have gone for Carlos as his name, and Kerstin still knows him by the original name of Caesar that we gave him!

News from Germany over the past week is great:

MOST important is that big Tommy is getting on fine with his housemate Socks, so we are now very hopeful that his ‘trial’/foster home will turn into a permanent one. This is very important as Tommy, being FIV positive, can only really live with other FIV positive cats to rule out ANY risk. FIV (similar to the human HIV) is not contagious, but could be transferred if Tommy bit another cat. Of course knowing Tommy, this is incredibly unlikely, but there is always the risk that another cat may bite him prompting a response. Anyway, all is looking good for the future for Tommy right now.

Ginger Jasper is also settled in his foster home. Cony reports that his foster parents are ‘very, very fond of him’, so I am hopeful there; maybe there is a chance that they will decide to keep him.

I also have photos of Pippa looking happy in her foster home, and she has another Spanish boyfriend, Leo, who travelled on the transport last week, to keep her company.

AND the news of Snoopy and Luke, is that the older cat in their ‘trial’ home is coming around to liking them, which means it is looking more promising. Melanie, their foster Mum, would like to keep them if Murphy her old boy is ok with it.

AND FINALLY news of Gizmo the ‘devil’, black siamese is that he has settled well, has a new mother figure in his home, AND a new baby kitten (Gremlin) as playmate! This is all quite amazing, as this little panther boy was REALLY feral. However his new mum loves him, and will give him all the time he needs, and as she said to Kerstin, when she agreed to give him a home, it was a little devil that she was after, and not a snuggle cat! She has now completed the contract and he has a permanent home.

It is always particularly rewarding to me to manage to re-home, the more difficult cats, either because they are more nervous or because like Tommy, they have health issues. It is great to know that there are so many lovely people out there who really love animals, and who will accept into their homes the slightly more difficult, but to me, equally lovely, ones.
