Alright, so I guess it’s my turn to fess up as well for my main reason of not posting and updating the site/blog whilst psp2468 (Matti)’s absence. I am currently in the same boat as him as it is also my senior year in HS and I need to focus on my classes if I want to achieve my goal of being an aeronautical engineer, however whenever i did have down time I do admit that I neglected my duties as a writer for Alltechrelated and I do hope every accepts my apology. Now even if I wanted to continue writing again as school isn’t in session for 2 more weeks, I’m going to be selfish by saying I need a break from any kind of work at all. Although while I have this down time I’m going to start researching and hopefully get some nice articles written if I decide not to be lazy after all. If you don’t see any articles from me though, expect a lot coming in June as I’m graduating on the 8th

I just thought I’d do a little update explaining what’s up with AllTechRelated at the moment. As you’ve probably noticed, I’ve been neglecting ATR for the past couple of months due to the fact that I’ve simply been too busy. I’m in the last year of high school and that being combined with football and life in general has meant I simply haven’t had time to maintain ATR. However, this does not mean ATR is going away. I am going to keep the website online until next summer as I hope to restart updating the website after I’ve graduated.

I also wanted to thank all of our readers who have supported ATR up until now, and have helped make the website as big as it was in it’s prime. We hope you’ll stick with us through this tough period in the website’s life, and will come back once we restart in the Summer of 2012.

As you probably have been hearing from the press and news-media, Steve Jobs has sadly passed away today at the age of 56. Silicon Valley has truly lost a one of a kind visionary who probably will never be replaced today and if it were never for Jobs, we would most definitely have a vastly tech landscape today.

Our thoughts and prayers deeply go out to the family and friends of Steve.

Apple have finally started to release invitations for their next media event. And guess what? It’s about the iPhone. The above image was sent along with the invitations, and the caption of the image reads “Let’s talk iPhone.” Apple are expected to release the iPhone 5 at this event.

Onlive is live in UK and has been since the 22nd, I knew nothing of it until the 24th when I was handed my FREE OnLive Microconsole. With being there, I managed to grab my self an extra code for One Months Free PlayPack Subscription to Onlive through PCGamer! What is OnLive? Read more below!

OnLive is a cloud gaming platform: the games are synchronized, rendered, and stored on remote servers and delivered via the Internet.

A low-end computer, as long as it can play video, may be used to play any kind of game since the game is computed on the OnLive server. Over 130 games are available on the service, some of which are listed on the List of OnLive games.

According to MacRumors, Apple are going to be releasing a new white iPod Touch this coming October. In addition, apparently they do not intend to revamp the iDevice, but rather release a white version of the iPod Touch along with some improvements to the ambient light sensor and oleophobic screen coating.

Today Samsung made the announcement that it will be releasing a new messaging service intended to compete with Apple’s upcoming iMessage and RIM’s BBM (Blackberry messenger).The service incorporates uses various features such as photos, video and voice conferencing, calendar and various other multimedia features. There will also be an element called an “Interaction Rank” which shows how  involved a user is with the messenger. Another unique and interesting aspect of this system is that Samsung’s service however, unlike Apple and RIM’s services, will both support and be available to third-party devices. It will be interesting to see how this new application does, considering it will have a small head start over Apple’s upcoming service.

ChatON is expected to be available next month in 62 languages and in more than 120 countries.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a headphone review here on AllTechRelated, but today, it’s about to change. Brainwavz were kind enough to send us a sample of their M1 earphones for review. Read our thoughts after the break! 

The Brainwavz M1′s packaging is just your typical cardboard box. Inside you’ll find the earphones themselves, a soft material coated hard-case, which in turn contains 4-pairs of tips (3 silicon pairs, 1 being a double-flange pair, and 1 set of foam tips) and a shirt clip.

Design:

These earphones are clearly developed with design in mind, with the ear-tips being a unique shape and being surprising small for the quality of sound they emit. The cable is what really sets them apart from other earphones in this aspect, however. The cable has been coated in a shiny, textured plastic, which stiffens the cable causing it become much more resistant to being tangled. Having a tangle free cable is almost a must now-a-days for me, as my earphones spend most of their time in my pockets, and having the added bonus of the cable looking great as well, makes this one of my favorite earphone cables ever. The cable itself is silver plated OFC, covered by insulation and then wrapped in the plastic encasing.

I did not experience any microphonics with the 1.3 m long cable when using these earphones. Something I did not like about the cable was the lack of the cable cinch, that thing that you slide up the cable allowing you to hold your two earphones together when not using them.

The cable sports a 45° earphone jack. The plug is of a high-quality, so that there is no interference or lapses in contact, if the plug gets spun whilst in your music device.

Comfort:

As I mentioned earlier in this review, the earpieces themselves are very small, and therefore do not carry a lot of weigh. Combining this with one of the many ear-tips they include with the earphones, makes these a very comfortable pair of earphones, ones that I forget are in my ears at all during long periods of usage.

As per usual with earphones, it takes some trial and error to figure out which ear-tip give you the best seal, but once you have, these are a comfortable and secure-in-your-ear pair of earphones.

Sound Quality:

These earphones do certainly pack a punch for a their price of $39.50 [Buy it]. These earphones have A LOT of bass. Playing Chris Brown Look At Me Now through these is an orgy of heavy hitting bass. I’m a bass lover, and was impressed by the way the bass didn’t seem to drown out the rest of the song. Despite this, I did find the bass a little bit boomy, and not quite as smooth as, say, the Thinksound ts02s.

Overall, for their price, these are a great pair of earphones. They have a wide soundstage, and when playing slow, melodious songs such as  Vienna – Billy Joel, the music sounds very balanced and laid back giving a pleasurable listening experience. The earphones bring out the vocals, however the highs are quite as sparkly and prominent as one would want.

In my opinion, these earphones really shine when listening to electronic music. For example, when listening to Loca People – Sak Noel, they sounds excellent. The music fills your head, and makes you want to get up and start jumping around. Don’t get me wrong however, these earphones perform great with other genres as well. They are a great overall pair of earphones.

These earphones perform well with noise isolation, despite not actually going that deep within your ear canal.

• Design: 4.5/5 These earphones are very well designed, with their small ear-pieces and excellent tangle-free cable. The lack of a cable cinch stops them from getting a 100% score in this section.
• Comfort: 5/5 No issues here. The combination of the variety of ear-tips and the light earpieces makes these a very comfortable pair of earphones.
• Sound Quality: 4/5 A natural, balanced sound and a wide soundstage are these earphones forte. If only the highs where a little more pronounced and the bass a little less boomy.

The iPhone Dev Team have released an updated version of the Redsn0w beta, which now supports iOS 5.0 beta 6. This version of Redsn0w is only intended to be used by developers.

Yesterday, the technology world was shocked when Hewlett Packard announced that they were killing all their WebOS devices, essentially removing themselves from the Smartphone/Tablet markets. Whilst they were still developing WebOS, It turns out that the engineers ported it over to the iPad 2 and experienced dramatic performance increases. 

One of the main flaws of their OS was the performance, but when they ran it on Apple’s iPad 2, the OS ran almost 2 times as fast compared to their TouchPad tablet. WebOS truly did have potential, and it seemed that it was the hardware that was holding it back, as opposed to the software itself. According to the engineers, the hardware was stopping them from innovating “beyond certain points”.

Mojang, the creators of the popular indie game Minecraft, have released the first version of their Pocket Edition of the game to the public, however sadly, it’s for Android phones, or more specifically the Xperia Play. Does this mean the iPhone version is coming soon?

This game is currently in alpha version, and is going to be constantly updated with new features and bug fixes. The game costs $6.99 [Buy it] and currently features local multiplayer, 36 different block types, random worlds and more!

There is no official word on an ETA for other devices, but hopefully it’ll be soon!

[Android Market]

In a surprising move, Google have announced that they plan on acquiring Motorola Mobility for $40.00 a share, or around $12.5 billion in total. The acquisition will be done to ‘supercharge the Android ecosystem’, and will make Motorola Google’s ‘dedicated Android partner’.

Co-founder of Google Larry Page had this to say about the acquisition:

Motorola Mobility’s total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies. Together, we will create amazing user experiences that supercharge the entire Android ecosystem for the benefit of consumers, partners and developers. I look forward to welcoming Motorolans to our family of Googlers.

The deal is currently under review in the United States, Europe and other regions, but is expected to be completed either by late 2011 or the early 2012.
