Depositors affected by the financial scam in the Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna Society have been asked once again to submit documents in person in Bengaluru.

This action follows an order by the Bengaluru High Court dated November 4, 2025. As per the notice, depositors must now submit around 10 types of documents to process their refund claims.

Documents Required

Depositors have been asked to provide:

• Bank statements (2012 to March 31, 2018)
• Aadhaar and PAN cards
• Investment agreements
• Passbook copies
• Bank-certified transaction details
• Income tax returns
• Proof of relationship (if applicable)
• Authorization letter (if someone else is applying)

For deceased depositors:

• Death certificate
• Legal heir certificate
• Other supporting documents

Depositors Raise Objections

Many depositors have opposed this move. They say:

• All documents were already submitted when deposits were made
• The government and authorities already have these records
• Asking for the same documents again is unnecessary

They have written to officials expressing their concerns.

Earlier, the Consumer Court had ruled in favor of the depositors and ordered repayment. The government had also asked depositors to submit claims, which many say they have already done.

Depositors also pointed out that documents like PAN, agreements, or affidavits are usually not required for Fixed Deposits (FD) and Recurring Deposits (RD).

Growing Frustration

Thousands of depositors are still waiting to get their money back. The refund process, involving crores of rupees, has slowed down due to repeated document requests and delays.

Depositors are now demanding that:

• Their claims be approved quickly
• Refunds be made based on existing records
• Further delays and paperwork be avoided

There is growing dissatisfaction among depositors over the handling of the issue.

Dhwani Santosh Kulkarni, a student of KLS Gogte College of Commerce and Science, has scripted a story that goes far beyond marks. Life is such a precious gift, from the moment you open your eyes to this world, from the very first breath there is so much to feel, so much to experience. Someone rightly said life is the most awesome festival you can celebrate. Yet there can be times when life becomes a burden, and the reason to live becomes so non-existent.

Lives could shape the future of our country, someone’s son, brother, or sister to another, yet these relations could not bind them to fight it out.

It was with this background that I was asked to give a small talk on positive thinking and handling failure at one of the professional colleges in the city. As a doctor we are used to counseling patients, giving them hope, and trying to make them cope with illness, but this was different. I had to do a lot of research for this one as here these were not regular patients whose disease is manifest, but here we were to jump into a house with occult depression and suicidal tendencies.

Well, it was at this time that I tried to figure out if I ever felt so in my own life, because unless I felt it, I could not connect with the kids. I knew exactly when I felt this and it’s not a one-off experience, most medical students go through this at the time of getting their post-graduate seats, the wait, the constant hammering of your relatives and friends, the pressure to earn, the frustration of being a degree holder but in unemployed, the fact that you lose your own self-esteem, well it’s a horrible feeling, especially for those who are alien to failure.

Problem starts at home, we try to see our kids as subjects to satisfy our unfulfilled dreams. At first the kids enjoy it like every new toy given to it, we want out kids to learn music, to dance, to skate to draw and yet score a perfect ten on ten in every exam.

We instill in them, ambitions that are not backed by passions. The pressure to score is so high that parents tend to forget that their children are reading and writing but do not know. We deprive our kids of ideational reasoning and make the mainframes of computers themselves. The idea that the child has to succeed becomes the one-line agenda that society and the parents expect, and failure is not acceptable.

Ninety percent and above is the only achievement, so much is the pressure to perform that the delicate beautiful mind shuts off all its facilities on this one-point program, this is in my view the point of the first contact with depression. The child simply forgets to live and turns into a mark-scoring machine, so much so that the entire learning process becomes exam-oriented. Can you imagine a doctor who reads to pass an exam or an engineer who reads complex processes to clear a semester, well don’t imagine you will soon find them.

We fail to sit down with our children and ask them what they want to do with their lives and push then towards what we think is right for them, how rational is that.

Sooner or later the last straw is broken and failure steps in, the problem are that the child and the parents can’t handle failure because they are never exposed to it. One failure and you ostracize the child so much that the child begins to feel this is the end of life. Here starts the vicious cycle of self-destruction, negative thoughts leading to negative actions, loss of morale, and breakdown of self-esteem.

It’s actually here that the early signs of depression can be caught, the child starts to stay in isolation, annoyed by the company of anyone and everyone, excessive anger and fault finding, lack of concentration, lack of interest in almost anything and not to mention the loss of good health.

Soon the child gets into a Chakravyuha of negative thoughts reinforced by annoying social interaction and soon falls prey to abuse of drugs which temporarily disconnect the mind from the reality. The child falls deeper and deeper into this till the mind breaks down completely and this is the point where ending one’s own life becomes the only alternative.

Well, all this is known to most and so it was to me, I also searched the literature for successful people who were failures, to begin with, and to my surprise, I found that most of our role models and almost all of the best mind’s in the world were once big times failures.

Honda, Microsoft, Apple, Ford were all built by people who failed miserably in their many first attempts.Einstein, Edison were not taken in schools and were considered imbecile yet they turned out to be the most fabulous minds in the world.

Coming to think of it, you will not know the value of success if you don’t fail. I can’t imagine the world if all these great men would have given up their lives in failure.

Well with all this study the lecture at the college went well, everyone was happy that the lecture is done with and we could go home, but then as doctors, we try to take home much more and so we started interacting with students even gave them our numbers just in case, actually speaking I never thought these elite professional college students would need any help. This turned out to be an illusion and it was shocking how much these little minds were holding to themselves.

There were students who hated the subjects and had to give up something in which they had tremendous talent, there were students who were doing the course just to make their parents happy, there was no interest in the subject nor was there a will to excel, unbelievably there was a huge chunk of students who were going through the cycles of depression and this was a rude awakening to me.

Some of the kids showed me their past artwork and really what creativity they had, I was so taken aback that this talent was sacrificed for the degree. Don’t you think we need good artists too instead of uninterested doctors and engineers?

I think it’s time to introspect really hard now, we can’t afford the loss of any more lives. We need to act now or we will never end these cycles of depression. One good way to start is to communicate, talk with your kids, and let the kids talk with their friends, mobiles, tv’s, social media can wait.

Family and friends are the best cushions one can have. If you are in constant touch with your kids you will notice the subtle signs of depression, that’s the time we need to give more to our children, some good company and some nice words can make a world of difference.

Sit for one meal a day together as a family and just talk about your day and that will support every member of the family. Know what’s on the child’s mind, be a friend, and don’t let a blue whale be your child’s best friend. Suicide is an impulse and a little support at that fateful moment can save a life.

Society and social values change over time, a girl playing cricket would be a taboo ten years back but today the Indian women’s cricket team is the toast of the country. Society needs to stop being myopic, there can be a different view and it’s ok to express it, there can be alternative careers and it’s ok to pursue that should be the mood of the society. We need to stop being patronizing and criticizing uncles and aunties and be more inclusive in the happiness of our young. We may no longer have joint families but we can definitely have common concerns.

The jadu ki jhappi is actually not a bad idea, it does work and I can vouch for it. If you find a friend going through a tough time, it’s time to give him a hug and tell him it’s ok, your failure means you are on your way to success. There is help too, there are professional counselors to help get rid of all the negativity.

Dear parents, please do everything to support your child but make sure you also tell your loved ones that it’s ok to fail.

In a major breakthrough in the high-value “digital arrest” cyber fraud case, the Belagavi City Cyber Crime Police have arrested two accused from Hyderabad in connection with the ₹15.45 crore cheating of an 81-year-old businessman.

According to an official press release, the case was registered at the Cyber, Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act.

Arrests Made

During the investigation, police traced part of the defrauded money:

• ₹2 crore was transferred to a joint current account in IndusInd Bank
• The account belonged to:
  • Accused – Venkadot Sarath Naik, resident of Gachibowli Hostel, Hyderabad
  • Accused – Degawata Sripad Naik, resident of Shivdurga Nagar, Changi Chorla, Hyderabad

Both accused were arrested on April 6, 2026, in Hyderabad and produced before the court on April 7, 2026.

How the Fraud Was Executed

Investigations revealed that the fraudsters impersonated officials from the CBI, identifying themselves as “K. Subramaniam.” They falsely claimed:

• Two SIM cards were active in the victim’s name
• He was linked to Naresh Goyal, CEO of Jet Airways
• A money laundering case involving ₹25 lakh had surfaced
• He would be arrested if he did not cooperate

The victim was threatened with immediate arrest and coerced into transferring funds under the pretext of an ongoing investigation.

Between February 7 and March 9, 2026, the victim transferred a staggering ₹15,45,00,000 in multiple phases.

Earlier, police had frozen multiple bank accounts, including one containing ₹90 lakh The fraud is suspected to involve a wider inter-state network Further investigation is underway to trace additional accused and recover more funds.

Case Background

The victim, a resident near Tilakwadi, was targeted through a carefully planned psychological scam. Fraudsters used fear tactics, fake legal threats, and impersonation to manipulate him into liquidating long-held stock investments and transferring funds.

Police have reiterated that “digital arrest” is a completely fake concept used by cybercriminals to create panic and extract money.

Commissioner of Police, Bhushan Borase, conducted a detailed inspection of Fort Road Belagavi, following a meeting with local traders to address persistent traffic congestion in the area. The meeting, held at Bharatesh College, saw active participation from traders who highlighted multiple causes behind the worsening situation.

Post discussions, the Commissioner inspected the stretch on foot from Bharatesh College to Majestic Hotel, reviewing bottlenecks firsthand. He assured traders and residents that practical solutions would be worked out soon.

Traders suggested removing the central road divider to ease traffic flow and proposed implementing a one-way system or deploying permanent traffic personnel. Unregulated parking on both sides of the road was flagged as a major contributor to congestion, with demands for stricter enforcement.

Concerns were also raised over barricades near Globe Theatre, which currently divert vehicles toward Channamma Circle. Traders urged reconsideration of this arrangement to reduce pressure on the route.

Sharad Patil also pointed out that congestion peaks during festive seasons and worsens in monsoon due to waterlogging on Fort Road, urging authorities to implement immediate and comprehensive measures.

The city’s ambitious first flyover project has entered a visible on-ground phase, with fresh markings now appearing along key stretches between Sankam Hotel and the Central Bus Stand—indicating that preliminary alignment work is actively underway.

Yellow paint markings spotted on road surfaces and median dividers, along with coded identifiers such as “P7,” suggest technical demarcation for pillar locations and structural alignment. These markings are typically part of detailed engineering surveys conducted before finalizing execution layouts, reinforcing that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is in its advanced stage.

This development comes close on the heels of tree mapping activity carried out between Samrat Ashok Chowk and Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle, further confirming that groundwork for the flyover is accelerating.

Project Overview and Alignment

The proposed flyover, spanning approximately 4.5 km, will begin from NH-48 near Sankam Hotel, pass through Ashoka Circle, Sangolli Rayanna (RTO) Circle, and extend up to Kittur Rani Chennamma Circle. It will then continue along Dr. Ambedkar Road past KLE Hospital, reconnecting to the highway near ICMR.

The alignment covers the city’s most congested junctions, including Samrat Ashok Chowk and Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk, making it a critical intervention for traffic decongestion.

Engineering Scale

As per current project details:

• A 6,678-metre stretch will be executed by the Public Works Department on 167 pillars
• A 1,112-metre stretch will be handled by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on 22 pillars

These structural markings now visible on-site are likely linked to this pillar grid planning.

What the Markings Indicate

The presence of ground markings typically signifies:

A Project Taking Shape

Backed by District In-charge and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, the flyover project has seen renewed push after earlier funding hurdles. With approvals in place, tree mapping completed, and now on-ground markings visible, Belagavi’s first flyover is steadily transitioning from blueprint to reality.

For citizens, these seemingly simple yellow markings are the first tangible signs that a long-awaited infrastructure upgrade is finally taking shape.

In the Rajya Sabha, Iranna Kadadi asked a detailed question regarding the conservation, funding, and tourism development of historical sites in Belagavi, with a specific focus on the iconic Kittur Fort.

Responding to the query, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat provided key insights into the current status and efforts surrounding the heritage site.

Kittur Fort Not Under ASI

The Minister clarified that Kittur Fort is not under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Instead, it is a state-protected monument under the Government of Karnataka.

Karnataka Driving Conservation Work

The Karnataka Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage is undertaking conservation and development activities. Major works include:

• Structural conservation of the fort and palace remains
• Restoration of the Hanuman Temple premises
• Landscaping within the fort premises
• Development of a theme park

The Kittur Development Authority, set up in 2012, is also playing a key role in improving infrastructure and tourism facilities in the region.

No Central Grant for Kittur

The Centre stated that no central funds have been specifically allocated for the development of Kittur Fort. However, conservation of centrally protected monuments elsewhere in Belagavi continues under national guidelines.

Boost to Heritage Tourism

Despite limited central involvement, Kittur Fort continues to attract a large number of tourists annually, contributing positively to local heritage tourism and the economy.

Kittur Utsav Promotes Legacy

The annual Kittur Utsav, held from October 24 to 26, remains a key cultural event celebrating the bravery of Rani Chennamma.

The festival is organized by multiple state departments along with the district administration and plays a crucial role in keeping the region’s historical significance alive.

Cultural Centres Supporting Karnataka

The Centre also highlighted contributions from:

• South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC)
• South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC)

Over the last three years:

• 73 cultural programmes held
• 4,859 artists participated
• ₹339 lakh was disbursed to artists

Events included lectures, competitions, and Yakshagana performances depicting the life of Rani Chennamma.

Opening an APK file titled ‘Wedding Card’ proved to be an expensive mistake for a 49-year-old woman from Belavadi village in Bailhongal taluka, after cyber fraudsters siphoned off ₹2,17,705 from her bank account. The file, received from an unknown number, was opened assuming it to be a genuine invitation. Soon after, the phone began behaving abnormally, and between March 30 and April 2, the amount was transferred to multiple accounts.

The fraud came to light through bank alerts. The victim immediately contacted the Cyber Helpline (1930) and later filed a complaint with Belagavi District Cyber Police on April 4. Investigation is underway.

Caution & How to Identify Fake APK Traps:

• If a file comes from an unknown number, do not open it.
• APK files are apps, not invitations—wedding cards or documents usually come as images, PDFs, or links.
• If your phone asks to “Allow installation from unknown sources”, it’s a red flag.
• Sudden phone lag, screen flashes, or unknown apps appearing after opening a file indicate malware.
• Messages creating urgency or curiosity (like wedding invites, lottery, courier alerts) are commonly used traps.

Rule: Never download or install APK files unless it is from a trusted source like the official app store.

Belagavi RTO recorded 5,476 vehicle registrations in March 2026, with non-transport vehicles (5,167) far ahead of transport vehicles (309). The biggest category was Motor Cycle/Scooter with 4,268 registrations, followed by Motor Cars (717) and Mopeds (113). Among transport vehicles, Goods Carriers led with 209, while Three-Wheeler Passenger vehicles (32) and Motor Cabs (37) also added to the count. At the lower end, several categories such as e-Rickshaw with Cart, Ambulance, Trailer (Commercial), Maxi Cab, Private Service Vehicle, Omni Bus and Adapted Vehicle recorded just 1 registration each.

Fuel-wise, PETROL/ETHANOL led with 2,354 vehicles, followed by Petrol (1,320) and Pure EV (1,099). On the maker front, TVS Motor Company Ltd topped the list with 1,056 registrations, ahead of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (1,007) and Hero MotoCorp (940). At the bottom, a few makers recorded just 1 vehicle each.
