I am so very excited to announce that tonight, June 18th 2012, some of my art will be displayed in Times Square, NYC on the jumbo screens! I am very honored to be a part of the Art Takes Times Square Event. So if you happen to be in the area tonight, takes some pictures for me!

Tonight in Times Square will be the culmination to the Art Takes Times Square Contest that was hosted by Artists Wanted. After millions of people from all over the globe casted their votes for the tens of thousands of people that entered, the winner & a select number of other featured artists will have their work shown to the world on the many digital screens in TImes Square. I am so happy to be one of the included featured artists. Check out the video below for more info.

My work is estimated to be displayed on a 9 x 12 ft digital screen located on Broadway and 43rd Street between 7:00pm - 7:30pm.

It's that time of year again folks. Time for the Weapons of Mass Creation Fest! In its third year, this year is bound to be just as amazing as the last two.

WMCFest Background!
The Weapons of Mass Creation Fest is the premier art, design, and music event in the Midwest. Now in its third year, 1,000+ attendees will descend upon Cleveland for three days in June to see 20 speakers, 20 designers, and nearly 30 bands. Creative professionals, entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, students, and fans will gather to learn, get inspired, collaborate, network, and celebrate together.

WMC Fest was founded by Go Media designer and partner Jeff Finley in 2010 as a passionate side project. In 2011 he brought in Jesse Sloan to handle the music portion and Joseph Hughes to help organize the speakers. You can read up more here.

The fine folks over at Wells & Drew were kind enough to pass along a great little infographic of InDesign shortcut keys. They asked for me to share it with my blog readers & I was more than happy to pass it along. So be sure to check it out & save a copy for yourself to reference while you work.

Here is what the author Anthony Houser has to say about their infographic:

"Wells & Drew, providers of fine stationery commissioned a simple info-graphic with the purpose of helping out designers. The InDesign cheat sheet was designed to help the top level pro all the way down to the green horn. Every useful shortcut that our designs could think of, for both Mac and PC, were included. Adobe obviously created these short cuts to speed up work flow but the problem is that designers always forget them! Now, you can easily throw the InDesign shortcut info-graphic into an easily accessed folder and pop it up when you need to find a shortcut."

Weapons of Mass Creation, or WMC, Fest is a fest for those who live to create! A weekend community event taking place in the Gordon Square Arts District on Cleveland’s west side. It was founded by Jeff Finley of the Cleveland-based creative agency Go Media. Only in its second year, it’s already generating lots of buzz within the creative community. Come to WMC Fest to network, collaborate, get inspired, learn new tricks, and level up!

Weapons of Mass Creation Fest is a visionary, grassroots movement showcasing creative minds and impressive skill, WMC Fest is a buzz-generating summer highlight. It’s a platform for local and national artists, students and clients to connect, collaborate, influence and inspire.

More than an industry networking event, WMC Fest is a unique celebration of original talent within Cleveland’s community of artists and entrepreneurs. It’s an opportunity for creative professionals to break away from their studios, desks and virtual spaces to engage in one-on-one interactions and idea-sharing.

Ticket Details
Tickets for Weapons of Mass Creation Fest can be purchased online, single-day passes are available individually for $15 or a full weekend pass can be purchased for $28.

When you purchase a ticket online, you are purchasing an all-access pass for the day. Meaning you get access to everything including the design show, bands, and speakers for $15. If you pay cash at each venue, it is $10.00 at the door for speakers and $5.00 for bands.

For every ticket sold, $1 will go to benefit Anonymous Relief Mission, a non-profit organization that helps people move into a home from off the street. They supply furniture, supplies, and labor to help do the moving.

The Sketchbook Project 2011

In 2009 the people at the Art House Co-op decided to try something different with the traditional sketchbook. They gathered them from artists across the globe & they took them on tour across the US. Thus was the beginning of an amazing & fun experiment called The Sketchbook Project.

This year I was lucky enough to find the time to participate. So you ask, "What is this Sketchbook Project & how do I find your glorious sketchbook"? Okay so you probably aren't asking yourself that, but I can just tell myself you are.

I opted to have my sketchbook as part of the nightmare collection & it features some of the randomness that inhabits my head while I sleep. Though word of advise to you the viewer, I would try not to dwell to much on the green slide.

As part of my submission to the project I choose to have my book digitized & placed online. So as soon as the Art House gets it up & live I will let you all know so those of you that didn't make it out to the tour can check out my doodles. If you wander your way over to the Alice Graphix page on Facebook you can see a few of the images I did manage to scan before having to send the book in.

The kind people at the Art House have created this nifty little map so you can check out if the tour is coming somewhere near you.
