Here is Day 30 of our 2012 30 days of fall colors!

I think this picture wraps things up nicely! I love the sunburst, blue sky, and of course the fall colors!

I know that this is a series on fall colors, and this isn’t a picture of fall colors. My excuse is that it was taken during the fall and it is nice on the eyes!

I saw this little tree high on the wall and had to make a picture of it. I am going to watch this tree to see if it makes it and how big it can get over time. It is always cool to see life trying to spring up wherever it can!

I like this picture because it is warm and makes me feel awake and happy!

Hiking in Zion NP I found this tree in a wash filled with fall colors while most other areas in the park had little or no color at all.

This picture also makes me want to eat chili. That is definitely one of my favorite fall foods!

I love pictures that are more intimate than grandiose. I think park if it is because they aren’t amazing primarily because of shock value at being a jaw dropper.

Intimate landscapes for me more often are ones that I can look at again and again and always enjoy, and seldom do I get bored with them. Not that the grand landscape isn’t something I avoid! I just naturally look for these pictures when others are focused primarily on the iconic views…

When I saw this tree hiking through a wash near Checkerboard Mesa in Zion National Park I hoped I would be able to find a good composition because the colors are incredible!

In the picture I had to scale back the color intensity so that overall the picture wouldn’t look fake!

Hiking around Checkerboard Mesa in Zion National Park I spotted a was that had several trees in it with some pretty bright fall colors.

Getting closer I realized the colors were Really Bright, and vivid. I also really enjoyed how the light and shadow combined with the color to give it a bit more emphasis!

This picture shows part of how we had 4 very happy kids camping in Zion National Park for 3 days.

A giant rock in our campsite to play on! The fall colors were for mom and dad.

This rock looks kind of small with no kids on it, but at it’s peak it is at least 8 feet tall and perfect for playing on. Just tall enough to entertain the older kids, and tall enough to keep the smaller ones off unless they have some parent attention.

This rock not only had our attention, but the attention of many other kids in the campsite as well!

Hiking along the Hidden Canyon Trail in Zion I found this very picturesque turn. I was amazed to finally see some fall color! Seems like this part of the canyon didn’t care what everywhere else was doing, they were busting out the fall colors!

The family is resting by the sign for the turn off onto the Hidden Canyon Trail where the trail starts to get pretty interesting!

I was hiking in Zions when my lovely 2-year-old daughter pointed and said “pretty!” She loved seeing the colors and being outside.

After I took the above picture she insisted that I show her the digital image on the camera. After careful inspection, she declared that it was still “pretty.”

I really love hiking and seeing nature through the eyes of my kids, even if they are getting heavier than the photo equipment!
