Summer is quickly approaching as well. It’s the season that your energy costs will most likely be at their particular highest. Call A#1 Air’s AC Repair Arlington team at 214-613-0479 to install a programmable thermostat today.

There are so many ways for you to save money by reducing electrical power use. For example, let down the power on electronic devices that are not in use (i.e. ambient electricity), turn off the lighting in rooms that are not being used, having decent insulation, using indicative heat barriers, and so on. However, one of the least difficult and most efficient means of reducing energy expenses is the use of the programmable thermostat. Numerous new houses come with programmable thermostats, most people do not take advantage of them.

Each programmable thermostat works differently; nonetheless, the common underlying factor is that you can tell your air conditioning system, in some way, that you want your house to be a specific temperature at peak times. Some programmable a thermostat already have recommendations for different times of the day based on statistics. For example, between the hours of night time to 6:00am, the advised setting would be for “sleep.” Depending on your individual preference, you may want this hotter or cooler when you sleep, yet generally you are able to press the temperature upward higher since the sun is not out. You’ll likely also want to program “away” occasions, particularly if everyone is out of our home for certain hours for the day (i.e. work and school). During these moments, you can push the particular temperature up to 78-80 levels and still come home to some cool environment.

Many programmable thermostats have adaptive technology, that allows them to anticipate your own settings ahead of time. As an example, if you programmed the thermostat to have the temperatures at 76 ° F at 4:00pm, and ahead of that, the temp was 80 levels, your thermostat will calculate the amount of time it will require to get the temperature to 76 degrees by 4:00pm, and begin reducing the heat accordingly. By switching the temperature in your own home based on your needs through different times of the day, you can literally save hundreds of dollars, maybe even hundreds. In fact, if you don’t actually have a programmable temperature, it would be a wise investment to make. They are relatively cost-effective, and the amount of cost savings you make up in a year would most likely deal with any out-of-pocket expense you had paid to purchase your thermostat.

When you are looking to reduce your air conditioning and heating utility bill, the idea certainly makes sense to appear into split mini HVAC system selections. HVAC here represents Heating, Ventilation as well as Air Conditioning.

While a split mini air conditioner was introduced in america in the 70′s, these are still not widely used, and only recently hold the split HVAC energy savings and low noises qualities come out in order to shine.

We will list here the circumstances and also the spaces in which a small split HVAC product is an especially solid and recommended choice. Any time one or more circumstances apply to you, you will know greater that looking even more into split mini air conditioning installation is sensible.

Split units are excellent retrofit add-ons

Due to the minimal invasiveness to the wall or window structure, split models make for good retrofit add-ons. For instance, older, and smaller sized houses in Arlington, Texas, where ductwork would take a lot of space. Also, every time a quietude in a space is of paramount importance, split devices make a lot of perception. Places like hospitals, church buildings, and community spots benefit from split Air conditioning systems.

Split devices work well for non-ducted small apartments and improvements

When introducing duct extensions are impractical, including in small flats and in house enhancements, introducing a split Arlington HVAC unit or perhaps a mini split electric makes a lot of sense. Think sun areas, bedrooms, workshops as well as home offices. Within industrial settings, laptop or computer offices and storage place posts use divided system HVAC units successfully.

Apartment models on first flooring

Split units create much sense for the first floor apartments where a portable system vents or even eye-port units represent a burglar risk due to the have to have the window open on the times when using the a portable unit.

Homes within milder winter areas

In hot and humidr places, such as Arlington, TX, split mini HVAC devices can be used effectively both as air conditioners and as heat pumps to lessen the cooling costs in the summer and the heating bills in the winter.

While inhabitants who live together prefer different temperature settings

In families where individuals with diverse temperature settings preferences are living or work in the same space, you can deliberately place the mini split cooling unit on the wall mid-height or nearby the ceiling. You can suspend it from the threshold or install it into a drop ceiling, or even place it on the floor.

Simply by choosing the placement and also the air flow direction coming from a mini split Heating and cooling unit right, you are able to satisfy the preferences associated with multiple different “temperature personalities” inside same space.

One family houses with up to four rooms

Last but not least, houses with up to a number of rooms, or “zones” tend to be suitable for use of tiny split HVAC techniques as typically 1 outside unit could accommodate up to four inside units. You will put away money every month over choosing a central ac due to more control on the individual temperatures inside the “zones” as well as due to simply no losses in the ductwork.

An energy hog! Will you be surprised to learn that I am talking of your place, be it a new, old or refurbished home in Arlington? Yes, lots and lots of homes here lose energy that explains why the average energy cost is above $ 2,000 yearly. Updating energy efficiency can be a very costly investment. And, many of us do not quite understand why we should buy and replace the Arlington HVAC system to improve.

Are you having appropriate HVAC system?

A HVAC older than ten years require frequent HVAC repair and will naturally not be as reliable and efficient as a modern one. But what most people ignore is that the correct size (cooling and/or heating output) is vital to get the best comfort, efficiency as well as the lowest operating and maintenance costs from the new system lifespan. Unfortunately, the cooling and heating systems are not sized in the correct way by more than 50% of contractors.

Size of the system

The mistake that is most common is over sizing the air conditioner. An oversized system costs more to install and to operate. Over sizing causes the system to work inefficiently and to break down too, more often. While oversized furnaces often create large uncomfortable swings of temperature, oversized air conditioners will not run the time needed for the air to dehumidify. Consequently, we have that ‘clammy’ feeling and an unhealthy growth of mold.

Factors affecting HVAC size…

To correctly size the HVAC system these key factors have to be taken into consideration: local climate, future or current insulation levels, window areas, type and location, home orientation, size and shape, rate of air infiltration, number of occupants and their age, and types of appliances and lights that produce heat.

The Norms

Manual D and Manual J are two sizing guidelines that will assist you to determine the proper HVAC system sizing. You must insist that the contractor uses a correct sizing calculation before you sign a contract. Conscientious contractors of air conditioning and heating like Carrier air conditioner repair know this and will reference it when they prepare a quote.

The ACCA, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, has published the ”Residential Load Calculation” or Manual J, which is the method recommended in the USA, Many user-friendly software packages for home owners inform and prepare you before you meet the potential contractor and your calculation procedure is also simplified. Your contractor must follow the procedure of Manual J.

As for ducts that are usually comprised in the installation, their sizing must be according to “Residential Duct Design” or ACCA Manual D. You must ensure that mastic is used to seal duct joints so as to prevent conditioned air to be lost into the floors and walls. You may consult the “Residential Equipment Selection” which is an ACCA comprehensive guide to choose home cooling and heating systems.

This summary of correct HVAC sizing is destined to help to have a more comfortable and more energy efficient home. Take all the time you need to research and to understand proper sizing and its terminology and for purchase and installation, choose a company that is well referenced and certified.

Humidity is small water drops in the air. The HVAC systems in your Arlington, TX home keep the humidity levels at normal ranges. It removes extra humidity that may accumulate to provide for comfortable regulated temperatures. In the summer months the humidity level is kept lower (40%) to keep the room cooler and in the winter the humidity level is kept higher (50% and up) to keep the room warmer. Anything below and above the percentages listed above can cause other problems such as: bacteria, viruses, fungi and mites. Anything above 50% humidity has been known to cause various chemical interactions. This is why it is very important to have the HVAC unit checked regularly by an HVAC technician and ensure that all the working parts of the unit (compressor, refrigerant, condenser, etc.) are all performing properly.

Arlington residents should be careful lighting a furnace. You can bet the all over America people are winding up in the hospital, or worse, when they were burned as they tried to light his furnace on the first cold night of the year night, according to the local fire department.

It’s that time of the year again when we cozy up to our fireplace or turn up our thermostat on our furnace. If you have a natural gas or LP gas furnace in your Arlington – Dallas TX home you should take precautions before switching your system into the heat mode.

Install A Carbon Monoxide Detector

Carbon monoxide is a given off by furnaces and if they are improperly vents this colorless, odorless gas fill your living quarters and injure or kill. Some describe its symptoms as similar to the flue:

nausea

headaches

dizziness

fatigue

Call our office and we’ll send a technician to look at your system immediately if you think your furnace may be allowing this gas into your living quarters! Sometimes. a heat exchanger will crack or the flue pipe could be stopped up. Or, if the pilot light doesn’t have an adequate amount of oxygen, the natural gas won’t combust properly , causing deadly carbon monoxide to develop.

Our Arlington air conditioning and heating team recommend you protect your home with a high-quality carbon monoxide detector. It will alert you to dangerous levels of the deadly gas. They should be installed close to bedrooms and living areas.

If you must buy new a/c unit this summer, go with the ones with R-410a. R-22 can not be made after this year and the cost of Freon will go up.

The year 2010 marks an important U.S. milestone for ozone protection with the phase out of R-22, an ozone depleting refrigerant used in some new air-conditioning systems for more than four decades.

To meet this environmental challenge, Carrier Corp., a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX), introduced non-ozone depleting alternative cooling solutions with Puron refrigerant, approved in 1997 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Prior to Puron refrigerant, most residential air conditioners and heat pumps used R-22 refrigerant, a chlorine-containing refrigerant that can contribute to depletion of the earth’s ozone layer, according to the KTH-EGI Phase out of R22 Refrigerant Study.

Arlington air conditioning experts can help you make tis transition. Call today to find out what you need to do. The equivalent or generic name for Puron.

Arlington TX Air Conditioning has some of the highest efficiency AC units the Arlington area. Air conditioner efficiency is marked on the side off all units as a number called the EER (Energy Efficiency Rating). The Energy Efficiency Rating is a ratio of the BTUs of the unit to the amount of power it consumes in Watts. That means that an air conditioner with 10,000 BTU capacity and an EER of 10 consumes 1000 watts of power. That’s quite a lot of juice.

Energy Star Arlington TX

The government mandates that all window units have a EER of at least 9.0. That said, there are a number of affordable units available with ratings of 10.5-11. These more efficient units will also have an Energy Star label on them because they exceed the minimum standard (9.0 EER) by at least 15%. We carry a huge selection of these energy star units. Please support these Green companies and save on your energy bills.

Central air conditioner efficiency can be compares by studing the the SEER rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). Beginning in 2006, an air conditioner must have a SEER of at least 13 to be sold in the United States. Higher efficiency models have a SEER between 14 and 22.

Maintaining the Condenser

In most air conditioning systems, the condenser unit is located outside the house and is prone to accumulate dirt and debris from trees, lawn mowing, and airborne dust. The condenser has a fan that moves air across the condenser coil. You must clean the coil on the intake side, so, before you turn off the power to the air conditioner, check to see which direction the air moves across the coils. Here’s how to clean the condenser:

First, cut down any grass, weeds, or vines that have grown around condenser unit. There should be nothing to obstruct airflow.

Next you can clean condenser with commercial coil cleaner, available at refrigerator supply stores. Instructions for use are included. Use water to clean the the chemicals off the coil but do not use a water hose. You may damage the fins of you Arlington Texas air conditioner compressor.

Carefully Clean the Compressor

Use a soft brush to remove accumulated dirt from the coil. You may have to remove protective grille to reach them.Be careful because they are made of thin aluminum and are easily damaged. If fins are bent, straighten them. A fin comb is designed to slide into spaces between fins. Use it carefully to avoid damaging fins.

Make sure the concrete pad the condenser sits on is level. Set carpenters’ level front to back and side to side on top of unit. Use gravel or rocks under concrete to level it. Finally, make sure the condensate drain line is clear.
