Did you know that some affiliate programs offer affiliates the ability to provide their customers with coupons?

It makes sense, especially in these trying financial times. After all, we’re all looking to save money…but at the same time, if we’re bound, set and determined to buy something online, we’re willing to part with the bucks and get our instant satisfaction.

Coupons, of course, can help in this process!

The thing is, though, will coupons destroy affiliate marketing?

Some people have already written about this:

I think offering coupons even with affiliate marketing is a great idea! Heck, I just bought the website WhoHiredBob.com with a GoDaddy Discount coupon that smooshed the price down to $.7.45 (and last week, I was able to get a 2 for the price of 1 discount for Medieval Times as well).

So what do you think? Will coupons devastate affiliate marketing? I would answer a profound NO.

When stupid copy calls

One of the neat things about affiliate marketing is that quite often, product developers will offer their affiliates suggestions for email campaigns, forum postings and the like.

This can be very useful indeed!

EXCEPT…..

When Stupid Copy Calls!

Let me explain. You see, many people are subscribed to more than one marketing mailing list (she said, revealing the obvious). So! What do you think a reader would do if she receives 4 emails from different people with the EXACT SAME BLEEPING COPY??????????

"OMIGOSH, let me buy!" ain’t the first thing that comes to mind, let me tell you!

Be a smart affiliate marketer! Use suggested copy as just that….a suggestion!

Copying and pasting canned text eventually sounds like, well, canned text….and that’s no way to build an effective relationship.

Here’s what I do whenever I want to do a review or promote a product. I’ll visit the site and pick out the specific points and ideas that I feel would speak to my readers…and then I translate that into how I generally converse. That way, my comments about the product are geniune and NOT canned.

What if you want help to spin suggested content? Here are 2 resources you can use:

Even if you use spinners, mind you, you HAVE to go over the content to ensure it makes sense. Remember…you want people to buy your recommendations…not laugh at them.

Secret Tip - Why you should NEVER give your bonuses on your thank-you page

If you’re an affiliate marketer, chances are…you already have a newsletter or ezine optin, and chances are…you also offer incentives and bonuses for visitors to sign up.

This is a good thing! …. EXCEPT…..

If you give your bonuses on your thank you page.

Would you believe that? Let me explain why.

You see, whenever you create an autoresponder signup, you have the option of sending visitors back to a "redirect" (generally a Thank You For Signing Up page). The code looks something like:

And anyone visiting your site can view your source code and see just what the redirect is.

If they can bypass your signup and zoom directly to your bonuses instead….that’s quite a bad thing indeed, wouldn’t you agree?

The way you get around it is simple! Include the download link to your bonuses in your first message back that you send to your new subscriber…and reserve your thank-you redirect page for your instructions on how to verify the autoresponder signup.

This way, visitors HAVE to optin to get your bonuses…and you gain the benefit of one extra subscriber as well.

Killer free affiliate marketing tools and techniques

While I like making money like everyone, I also enjoy sharing what I know freely on Twitter, FB and other venues as well! So for this holiday weekend, allow me to share with you some of the free tools I use in my affiliate marketing - I hope you find them useful too!

First off, I always make certain that CommentLuv is always installed on my blogs. This nifty tool enables commenters to generate deep links back to their site (thus helping their SEO as well). This makes commenting on your blog a valuable exercise to the reader!

Next, I always cloak my affiliate links to decrease people stealing my commission. It’s a very simple thing to do - I wrote about that over at Prevent thieves from stealing your affiliate commission.

Have you ever wanted to get ideas for keyword generation? I always use Google’s Adwords Tools - it never fails to offer me nifty suggestions for future marketing campaigns.

Want to find what trends are happening? 33 Free Trend Tracking Tools will steer you in the right direction!

What about the images you use on your site? Are they big and bloated? MyImager will let you squoosh them down to size! And if you lack a favicon on your blog, mosey on over to FavIcon Generator - it instantly will take any image you want and create a favicon just for your site.

Clickbank Revenge (and quite the affiliate marketing savings too!)
