I am beginning to hate Christmas. Besides for the flashing ads that take center stage on the page, there are automatons that want to provide customer services blurbs. They cannot tell you where anything is, but they will talk to you, sign you up for a credit card and probably steal your credit by the time you find the X that will close the window.

Have you noticed the Xs on different positions on popups? Like it is not bad enough you are seeing this ad, you also have to find the moving Xs to close it. The Christmas season must be provide the creative impetus to develop new and different ways to ignore shoppers.

I would and do happily watch a short trailer before some YouTube movies. The movies is loading and the commercials are tasteful.

The absolute worse are the games on Facebook. that keep trying to make you upgrade, buy special potions, extra lives, more energy, etc.

When did Christmas become so commercial? Lets get back to traditions.
marketing into
retargeting for display ads. Now the online ad industry moves that
concept into Facebook Exchange to verify when an ad actually gets
viewed.

Infolinks, a new suite of real-time intent-based display ads for
publishers. Dave Zinman, also credited for
co-inventing the ad server, said addressing real-time "intent" targeting
supports verification and viewability at the time consumers are on the
page.

Infolinks' ad units serve nontraditional
placements on the page. "Search is the place real-time intent is most
commonly found," Zinman said. "We will serve display ads based on intent
only when someone conducts an action, rather than
previous intent."

Many retailers will delay beginning Christmas marketing campaigns until after the election. Retailers usually start holiday marketing campaigns the first week of November. However, November 6, Election Day is causing retailers to delay holiday campaigns until after the election.

I am not sure how I feel about this. Is it better to be done with politics and start Christmas? Can we just do away with both? Last night, one of my shows said it would return in 2013. Has life come to a complete stop? I know the Congress took off, but who would think retail would bow down to political pressure?

Holiday Forecast Is Rosy, But Election Could Delay Marketing Campaigns
The Most Valuable Generation

Finally, Baby Boomers come into economic power. The Greatest Generation is passing on, as is the way of life they lived. No longer will a young person graduate from college (or not) and accept a position with a company for life. The GG worked and retired from one company. They were The Greatest Generation! They lived through the Depression, a World War and went on to build one of the greatest military-industrial complexes the world has yet to witness.

Baby Boomer Generation

Many Boomers were shipped to a war about which no one ever talks. The lived through atomic testing, DDT spraying, live vaccines, integration, bottle feeding, jam packed classrooms, atom bomb drills, the Cuban Crisis and the Cold War. Some of the greatest and inspiring leaders of the century journeyed for a short time during the boomers' formative years: John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy,
Martin Luther King, Jr., Mother Teresa and Rosa Parks. Boomers faced race riots, free love, psychedelic drugs and art, and music. The world exploded with boomers and then, the candle burned down and boomers went to work. Boomers have worked, paid taxes, raised children, purchased homes and held onto middle class by their finger nails.

Now, there will be a resurgence of boomers. Download the entire Nielsen report, “Most Valuable Generation," here: http://www.nielsen.com/us/en/insights/reports-downloads/2012/introducing-boomers--marketing-s-most-valuable-generation.html. This a huge report and many will find all the information helpful.

Factoids

Boomers, born between 1946
and 1964, are set to control 70 percent of the disposable income in the US in the next five years.

In five years, 50 percent of the U.S.
population will be over 50.

These consumers spend close
to 50 percent of all consumer packaged goods (CPG) dollars.

They also will inherit $15
trillion over the next 20 years.

67 percent of
Boomers plan to spend more time on their hobbies and interest when retired.

-->> Yet less than 5 percent of advertising is geared
towards them. If you are targeting 18-49 year old consumers, you may loose a sizable share of the market.

Boomers comprise

33% of all online users

33% of social media and Twitter users

33% of heavy Internet users

Marketing to youth is traditional marketing wisdom
because of the enormous results that the 18-49 demographic has
delivered in the past, a time when it was
comprised of an unprecedented 80 million, marketing friendly
Boomers.

Market Changes

The over 50 segment consists of close to 100 million
consumers.

By 2030, the 18-49
segment is expected to grow by 12 percent, while the over 50 segment will expand
by 34 percent.

60 percent of Boomers still have at least one person in the household working full time.

Boomers make the
most money and spend what they make.

My Two Cents

Oh, Boomers are not all impotent, incontinent or depressed. We do not worry about our intestinal flora any more than someone younger. We have aches and pains consummate with living over 50 years, 30 of them surrounded by nothing but metal. Hair loss is natural and does not cause everyone to go for implants.
Now, the teeth are another story. There is money to be made with Boomers' teeth, especially pain-free, peaceful dental work. Insurance, cancer surgery, joint replacement and heart attacks worry Boomers. Take the worry from the lives of Boomers. Travel can be a real problem for many--find the answer. Find a doctor that takes a certain insurance for your clients. Most of all, RESPECT the boomers. If for nothing else but the music!!
They have emerged as a powerful political and social force. Their huge numbers and progressive attitudes are already changing America and the world.

Millennials get it. They are the most marketed to generation yet. They were the first generation to be targeted by advertisers. Commercials were written for Millennial babies less than two years old.

There are 62 million Millennials (Generation We) with $143 billion in buying power.

Below are five things you, brand marketers, need to know to be successful with this generation.

1. They’re Not Brand Loyal

Unless you happen to be Apple, endearing your brand to Gen
We for the long term won’t be easy. Remember, they left MySpace for Facebook.

They are concerned with value and function than brand because they
were molded by the largest global recession in recent memory.

You
will have to evolve with them, demonstrate value to
them, and market yourself in non-traditional ways.

2. They Expect Brands to Fit Their Mold. Not the Other Way Around.

When products and
brands don’t perform the way they want or expect them to – they will blame the brand and go elsewhere.

Tailor your brands and products to them, or allow them to do so. They want it "their way."

3. They Care About the World and What Your
Brand is Doing For It

This generation is the first generation to
experience “green” in the mainstream.

Consider how your brand treats the world, because Gen We will. They expect transparency.

4. They Expect You to Entertain Them

You should entertain this group. They have always been entertained. They have much shorter attention spans
than previous generations, but an
uncanny knack for processing massive amounts of information.

My son can be gaming on his laptop, texting to FaceBook, making and receiving cell calls and texts while watching TV. Seriously.

5. They
Actually Listen to Their Parents and vice versa.

Gen X parents and Gen We
kids are watching the same TV channels, wearing the same clothing brands
and playing the same video games — often together as a family.

This
group has participated in family decisions,, so they tend to listen and even copycat their parents’ purchasing habits. Do Not ignore Mom and Dad.

View the fun film above. The film catalogs a scavenger hunt two couples recently played in Los Angeles. They were giveN a Kia Rio to use. Click to visit the Rio Explorer Page. This car is a technological wonder and under $15K.

The couples had to find five items or solve clues to move on to the next item. The five fun places the couples visited were:

The Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round - one of the oldest in the US.

Amoeba Records - Vinyl, CDs, you name it. If it is music, it is here. I think finding Christina Milan's new CD in this huge warehouse would be frustrating, especialy since it was hidden.

Rodeo Drive -- the place to shop if you are a woman of means.

Pink’s Hot Dogs - Eat here often enough and be famous enough, and they will name a hot dog after YOU.

The final destination/prize was a visit to the penthouse apartment of Christina Milan in the Roosevelt Hotel, a world famous hotel for celebrity parties.

The Kio Rio looked like a cool car to have in a scavenger hunt. It had the UVO Technology voiice activated system that includes wireless technology (Bluetooth), so you can use your voice to dial a phone number or set your music. There is a one-button screen that allows you to use and change your Bluetooth devices. There is also a USB port, which helps when you want to transfer information or music. My favorite accessory would be the rear cameras. As soon as the Kia Rio is shifted into reverse, the rear cameras come on.

I would take on a challenge if George Clooney was the celebrity and if my friend and I could use the Kia Rio to Zip and Dash through Austin, Texas.

I think about that song whenever I hear about ZENNI. The folks at ZENNI bring cheap eyeglasses direct to you from the manufacturer. No intermediaries, no markups, no limited selected of frames on sale. ZENNI brand does not carry the cachet (or price tag) of Gloria Vanderbilt, Calvin Kline or any of the names licensed to the highest bidder. In other words, ZENNI means quality without cost.

The only brand sold is ZENNI, so you will not pay for expensive or even inexpensive brand names. ZENNI eyeglasses are stylish and fashionable. Better yet, the prescription will be correct, the lenses safe and the frames comfortable. Best of all, the ZENNI eyeglasses will be fashionable and just what you wanted.

Visit the website to select from 20+ colors of frames in small, medium or large size with regular, bifocal or progressive lenses. Choose from full rim, half rim, rimless, sunshade or goggles! View frames sorted by shape: oval, aviator, square or round. Select frames by material, such as plastic, stainless steel, memory titanium or aluminum alloy.

Buy a pair of eyeglasses for each day of the week, to match your wardrobe or for the season. The eyeglasses are inexpensive and you will be an eyeglasses fashionista!CyberCelthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11954268198661577510noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25905805.post-77586875722741694892012-05-05T20:33:00.000-05:002012-05-05T20:33:20.145-05:00Mobile Media Revenues
2012 Updates

Have you ever wondered how SEO experts keep up with the changes to the Google search algorithm? I found this helpful breakdown of Google updates at SEOMOZ. The changes listed below took place during approximately a two-month period. It makes me wonder if the Google has the worst or the best product in the world . . .

Search algorithm has taken search engine optimization (SEO) out of the hands of mere mortals. I remember when page names and meta tags were the new thing. Until someone comes out with Cliff's Notes to search engine marketing (SEM), I think I will have to pass.
