premiers February 11th and will run weekly on the New York City cultural site www.shortandsweetnyc.com.

Shortandsweetnyc.com is a daily updated gateway to all things in the big apple, from music and entertainment to restaurant recommendations to cosmetic product reviews. Ralph’s new column will fit in with the up-to-the-minute writing that readers have come to enjoy on the site, presenting a weekly forum for an audience Ralph hopes will be responsive and opinionated.

"For me, the fun of a column like this is the interaction," Ralph says. "Not only with store owners, porn stars, whomever I happen to meet and feature, but interaction with the wide range of shortandsweetnyc readers. We get folks from the five boroughs, people who work in town but live in NJ or CT, people who are coming in for vacation…not to mention just people who want to read the best site on NYC there is! I can’t wait to answer the emails."

Ralph is no stranger to the adult market, having published countless short fiction throughout the world and ebook collections of his short stories. He also DJ’s an hour-long music show on the sexy RadioDentata.com, has written copy and P.R. for the various clients of PearlyWrites.com, blogs regularly for M. Christians’ ‘Frequently Felt’ and Adult Organic SEO, as well as reviewing and interviewing for VintageRock.com and his consistent work for shortandsweetnyc.com

Shortandsweetnyc is run by David Lipp and boasts a readership of approx 8000 unique visitors monthly. Ralph can be reached at: shortandsweetsex@gmail.com.

At the tail end (or whatever it is this time of year in jersey) of the winter, not only am I experiencing that ‘come-on-let’s-get-some-warm-weather already’ ache but also a financial crunch I have never seen the likes of. All this on my head with the added stress of constantly applying for writing jobs (really how many of us are out there?!) I sauntered out to the old mailbox fearing the wad of bills I’d find. Low and behold, there was a check from my e-book publisher-Renaissance E-books to be exact-for my last few month’s gains.

To say I was tickled would be an understatement.

Having just spoken to my buddy and well-known erotic writer M. Christian about the state of publishing and both of us expounding positively on our continued experience with e-book publishing I found it ironic to get this check when I did, yet I’m none to surprise. For me it’s not the money so much that tickles me (ok, it’s a little bit about the money) but the way in which e-books work, as Christian and I opined, how a publisher need not hold physical copies of a book, how books of an adult nature are tried where a bigger publisher fears them (and the return of same) how, like the record business, the paradigm is shifting so much for how people get their books and read them (see the new Mac ‘Tablet’ yet?) that e-publishing is truly the way to go.

I met Jean Marie Stine of Renaissance E-books over the summer in San Fransico at the Cybernet convention, and within a month or so she not only had two books from me, but had them up on the site and was sending me a check within another. Now I get my 2nd. I have done no book tours, no signings (not that I wouldn’t) I just blogged, link Renaissance’s ‘Sizzler’ Editions whenever I can and the books work for me ‘out there’ in the ether that is cyberspace. No worries of boxes of returns, no calls from a publisher that we need to work harder, no attempt at anyone to tell me to write something more ‘commercial’.

I couldn’t be happier.

So hear me now my brothers and sisters of the quilted pen. As you make your way with your scribbles and jibes, uncover every opportunity, look far and wide for new and untried places to publish and think hard about the future, because the future is here…and it pays.

In a match made in a sexy version of Heaven, short story writer Ralph Greco, Jr. is publishing his Naughty Boys Who Deserve To Be Punished male sub short story collection though the Sizzler Editions of eBook publisher, Renaissance eBooks, Inc. Jean Marie Stines’ infamous Renaissance eBook, line, is one of the biggest adult eBook publishers operating today, boasting a reputation for adult and fetish fiction second-to-none. Ralph Greco, Jr. himself boasts publishing credits far and wide in adult and mainstream, but this marks the first time Mr. Greco has seen one of his collections published…and he couldn’t be happier.

"eBook publishing is where it is at for erotic fiction writers. I couldn’t be happier to have Naughty Boys part of Jean Marie’s house. I am honored to be part of Renaissance and on the cutting-edge of publishing technology with eBooks."

Mr. Greco is no stranger to the fast and furious world of digital marketing. He is a copywriter for www.Pearlywrites.com, a leader in social media networking and Organic SEO content, an internet radio DJ and an ASCAP licensed musician. As Mr. Greco goes on to say: "Whatever business you are in today, publishing to brick building, you really can’t along without the most cursory of computer presence, whether email, a webpage or download capability to sell product."

8And product Renaissance has product for sure. In addition to the Sizzler Editions Renaissance eBooks, Inc. also publishes "Page Turner Editions", "Eros Editions" and "REB Inc, Audio Books" lines.

The ongoing debate of new copy vs rewrites and what to charge for rewrites seems to come up more often when the economy is at its worst or around tax seaon.

My definition of rewrites has always been to take the already existing copy and reword it with the same tone and style as most clients who want a rewrite, I have found in my experience, just want the same overall feel to say the same thing but just wants the words jumbled around a bit.

My definition of new copy is just that; new copy! Copy which engages the reader, copy which stimulates the reader to click or keep reading more; copy which is strong and interesting.

Due to this ongoing debate which I seem to encounter every few months, we do charge a lower rate for rewrites as when clients explain to us, "Well I just want the copy rewritten and it shouldn’t take you very long." Is another word for "I am cheap and won’t pay your pricing so let’s call it a rewrite BUT I expect newly written copy."

Um, yea that doesn’t fly with me. Maybe some writers would just grin and take it but after 10 years of being in this business, I don’t stand for the people who think they are "pulling" one over on the "desperate writer."

New copy is just that; new, freshly written copy.

Rewrites are taking already existing copy (no matter boring, crappy or whatever) and just reworking it to say the same thing. That is why it is called a rewrite.

When you want new, sparkingly fresh, vibrant copy, then you already know what my answer is…You got to pay for it!

So next time someone asks for a rewrite due to the price, don’t expect amazingly new copy. It’s the policy I have followed for years and no, it won’t change.

Although my partner in crime Ralph and I kiss each others asses during our Sensual SEO show many times throughout the hour (yes we will have to make a contest next season and give away a prize), it is only for your listening pleasure. In fact for many years I argued with Ralph over certain items when it came to online marketing and adult writing. As we have mentioned a few times, Ralph and I are actually about 15 years in age difference so there are some "new media" items which my partner will never listen to me about, and that’s ok. We agree to disagree and still manage to be honest with each other.

In the past two months I have been receiving phone calls and emails from adult websites who have gotten burned by other adult seo companies. Now I don’t know if the inquiries we are receiving for adult seo are because the adult businesses do not understand the time it takes to organically rank for their keywords and had higher and quicker expectations OR if the adult seo provider wasn’t straight up honest with the adult business.

I am finding that many in the adult industry do not want to give away their secrets. I just laugh! Why? Because all the self-proclaimed "secrets" are all over the Web! Yes, you have to find them and do research and/or be involved in Organic SEO for many years BUT if you REALLY want to DIY Adult SEO, there are a few ways to go about it. You can either find an SEO who will consult and teach you how to go about your adult seo campaign or start connecting to seo’s and read their forum and blog postings. Even attending local SEO meet-ups you can learn more about how to begin to organically rank your Website.

Honesty: Is there honesty in Adult SEO?

I know there is competition, LOTS of competition. The adult market is flooded with Websites and trying to get a new Website ranked can take time for your top targeted keywords. If you are told differently, then you need to rethink the honesty of the person you are speaking to. It is known that Adult SEO takes time hence why there are not many companies who will touch Adult SEO.

Expectations

The expectations of the adult business owner also needs to be in check or reality. There are many sites which have been focusing on their organic ranking from the beginning of their site launch so just think about that competition. Ralph and I have been lucky to rank our own sites fairly quickly but that is also because we set up our sites. When working with a client, many times it could take days if not weeks for their tech department to switch and change items we ask for so that our "magical" work actually works!

Til next time…

Wednesday Nights: Listen on Radio Dentata at 9pm EST to Sensual SEO with Lisa and Ralph

Well once again Lisa and I ‘circled the airport’ in our meandering radio talk, but I think the examples got through loud and clear. While not truly bitching (ok, maybe we were bitching a little) we were trying to hammer home the point we had hammered in the previous show: mainly, that it is important that our clients are informed. We want a potential client, even you our radio audience, to recognize, realize and ruminate over choices when choosing your social media/SEO company. Like we have said on more than one occasion and said again on this show, even if someone solicits us for business and spends an hour or more with Lisa on the initial consultation, and they still choose not to use us, at the very least we know this person went away more informed then before the call. Hey, if they want to use us, more the better (and really the reason they usually don’t use is, as Lisa has said time and again, you get what you pay for and we don’t work for free!).

Yes, I shared some good news about a book of mine being published by Renaissance eBooks, mentioned Amazon now selling this very blog for Kindle

and how two of our latest Press Releases got read by PlayboyRadio and the clients we did them for have been contacted for an interview on that XM/Sirius giant. So things aint’ so bad.

And shit dude, I only mentioned Pyrex dildos once!

Shit, it looks like this SEO sensual adult writing thang is working! Once again Lisa and I found out that one of our clients got some Playboy Radio interest from a P.R. we just wrote and sent out…I mean, just sent out! . It’s really amazing how fast this Internet stuff works, but I have blogged on that before. I guess why I am checking-in now with another of these long-winded missives is that I’m just thrilled not only with the good writing work Lisa and I did and continue to did, but that once again my craft, writing, has seen some result.

It’s more than just Lisa and I stroking each other over the accomplishment (Lisa’s back wouldn’t stand me stroking her anywhere right now, let alone she’s a married lady!) but it’s damn nice when one of our clients is being respected. To be honest, for me it’s never been a ‘we poor writers never get any respect man’, at least not in my day-to-day. Most times people are mystified enough by what I do to give me at least a begrudging respect, and I feel this writing thing, whether SEO copy, fiction, one-acts, what have you, is no different then any other talent (and yes I have blogged here about this to). It’s just a talent not unlike the ability to work on and make an engine hum or cooking a great meal; we all have our certain ‘things’.

It’s just kinda nice that what we do, our little ‘fixing’ of somebody’s engine, our own sauce if you will, has helped one of our clients. Though, hell, I’d like to think that even if I didn’t have a hand in something I am evolved enough to feel just as good for some I care about or know. A good friend of mine is an actor here in N.J. and I champion all his forays, big or small. When another friend of mine, the spectacularly talented, Zanti Misfit-fearing M. Christian publishes a new book or emails me with another of his further forays of fictional fantabulousness I am tickled beyond words. I rally round and applaud the triumphs of the people I care about and by extension do the same for PearlyWrites clients, not because I may have had a hand in the good fortune (ok, I do have an ego and it is good for business when our work sees results) but because someone is doing good that I might know even on a cursory level. Yes, it makes me even happier when Lisa can call with a good result, but really I want the whole word to be happy every sunshiny day, dude! So back to work here trying to get more clients attention and stroking myself.

Lisa and Ralph discuss some InterNEXT post convention and shares some of Lisa’s experiences teaching her Organic SEO seminar as well as hanging with the Radio Dentata gang poolside at the Splash Bar. Then Lisa and Ralph discuss how Adult Webmasters need to be informed consumers when they are looking for an online marketing provider and what online marketing service providers expect from the consumer. It gets loud, abrupt and yes, the “Jersey Girl” gloves come out in this episode of Sensual SEO.
