Newark, CA (PRWEB) March 28, 2012

Tegile Systems, a pioneer in primary storage de-duplication in virtualized server and desktop environments, today announced that Washington & Lee (W&L), a top-tier liberal arts university, is one of the early adopters of the companys new Zebi hybrid storage arrays. The university is capitalizing on the Zebis high performance solid state disk cache to mitigate the boot storms associated with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. Additionally, the university is benefiting from the Zebis ability to de-duplicate and compress data on-the-fly to reduce its storage requirements by 22%. A single Zebi supports both SAN and NAS environments and comes complete with snapshot and replication features for $ 1.00 per gigabyte.

We ran into performance problems within six months of implementing VDI and insufficient disk I/O meant we were overrunning the memory cache of our existing system, said Jef McCreery, Director of Core Systems at W&L. We considered upgrading our HP system and looked at solutions from EMC and Dell, but finally chose the Zebi because Tegile provided the best performance for the lowest overall cost. In fact upgrading the existing system would have been equal to, if not double, the cost of the entire Tegile solution.

Tegile Systems is pioneering a new generation of enterprise storage arrays that balance performance, capacity, features and price for virtualization, file services and database applications. Tegiles underlying technology includes their patent-pending Metadata Accelerated Storage System (MASS), and a no-single-point-of-failure architecture that includes high speed solid state memory and high capacity hard disk drives. Uniquely, Tegiles MASS manages the systems metadata (data about the data) on high speed media to accelerate all storage functions including random and sequential I/O, data de-duplication, compression, snapshots, and RAID rebuilds.

W&L is one of over 50 customers from the education, financial services, manufacturing, government, legal, healthcare and transportation industry sectors that have deployed the new Zebi as primary storage in virtualized server, virtualized desktop (VDI), file services and database environments as well as for replicated storage. Zebi storage arrays are available from Tegile Systems, with prices starting at $ 16,000.

W&Ls Mr. McCreery will present some of the lessons learned from the universitys VDI implementation at the Storage Networking World Conference in Dallas, Texas. His presentation, Top 5 Storage Design Essentials for Virtual Desktop, is scheduled for 2:10pm on April 3rd. A detailed case study is available online at: http://www.tegile.com/resources/

About Tegile Systems

Tegile Systems is pioneering a new generation of enterprise storage arrays that balance performance, capacity, features and price for virtualization, file services and database applications. Tegiles Zebi line of hybrid storage arrays is significantly faster than all hard disk-based arrays and significantly less expensive than all solid-state disk-based arrays. Featuring both NAS and SAN connectivity, they are easy-to-use, fully redundant, and highly scalable. Additionally, they come complete with built-in auto-snapshot, auto-replication, near-instant recovery, onsite or offsite failover, and virtualization management features. Tegiles patent-pending MASS technology accelerates the Zebis performance and enables on-the-fly de-duplication and compression of data so each Zebi has a usable capacity far greater than its raw capacity.

Markham, ON (PRWEB) March 20, 2012

Emails, contacts, attachments, and other information are stored as PST files in Microsoft Outlook. As a users email profile grows, so do the file sizes, and the bigger the files, the more those files are at risk for corruption. Months and even years of important data are stored in PST files, so when trying to recover them time is very important. The very format and size of PST files make them difficult to save with a normal recovery tool. Inbox Recovery Tool can handle it, and recovers emails, contacts, calendar items, and other data quickly, and one does not need to be a computer expert to use the tool.

Inbox Recovery Tool for Outlook uses an intelligent algorithm to understand the very makeup of a PST file, so using multiple passes it can scan each component of the PST file, including the headers, signatures, and more, and allows the user to preview the items prior to reconstruction. Any data that is recoverable is saved into a separate file, and the new PST file created can be imported back into Microsoft Outlook saving your data with no problem, saving you from the panic and worry of lost data.

Outlook Inbox Recovery Tool employs a three-step process, asking the right questions to get the data restored as quickly as possible. It can restore files from the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Microsoft Outlook, and it can act as the only tool a user needs to repair their corrupted data, so that their meticulously saved and filed emails can once again be useful and readable.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 16, 2012

The Elevator Manufacturing industry has been on wild ride over the past five years. The bursting of the US housing bubble in the late 2000s followed by the global recession severely hurt demand for elevators. In 2009 alone, revenue plunged 17.7%. Although manufacturing activity has rebounded substantially since the economic recovery began, construction investment into commercial and residential properties has remained largely subdued. On the positive side, the industry pulled itself out of its recession-induced slump in 2011 as manufacturers focused on supplying elevators to growing export markets. As industrial activity continues to increase over 2012 and US construction markets manage some improvement, industry revenue is expected to jump to $ 2.4 billion. Over the five years to 2012, revenue is estimated to grow at an annualized rate of 2.2%.

Export demand helped lift the Elevator Manufacturing industry into positive territory in 2011: elevators and parts exports soared. According to IBISWorld industry analyst Brian Bueno, Foreign developing markets where construction activity has continued to escalate strongly have been accounting for an increasing share of industry revenue. International construction demand is expected to continue growing strongly over the next five years. As more developing and newly industrialized countries grow and attract foreign investment into major metropolitan areas, construction activity abroad will create demand for elevators. IBISWorld estimates that exports will increase over the next five years. The industry also depends on the health of US industrial markets, which currently supply about one-third of industry revenue. Manufacturing, mining and other markets purchase elevators to move people, goods and materials. As companies have more cash on hand to invest in capital, such as freight elevators, elevator manufacturers stand to benefit. Investment is expected to grow strongly in the five years to 2017 since corporate profit is at an all-time high, says Bueno.

The Elevator Manufacturing industry has a moderate level of market share concentration. In 2012, the top four industry participants ate UTC, Schindler, ThyssenKrupp AG and Kone Oyj. Barriers to entry in the industry are moderate, but major players can exploit economies of scale, high research and development spending and long-standing links with buyers to maintain market share. The medium level of concentration also gives firms some ability to pass on raw material price increases to consumers. Over the five years to 2012, industry concentration has increased as larger companies acquired smaller companies, a situation that was exacerbated by the recession. Over the five years to 2017, market share concentration is expected to remain relatively stable. The long-awaited recovery of US construction markets is expected to gain traction in 2013. Further economic improvement will decrease unemployment, increase consumer and business spending, and create robust demand conditions for new office buildings, retail locations, factories, hotels, apartments, and other structures that typically contain elevators. Over the five years to 2017, industry revenue is forecast to grow. For more information, visit IBISWorlds Elevator Manufacturing in the US industry page.

Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada (PRWEB) March 15, 2012

Laipac Technology today announced the release of its slimmest vehicle tracking device. The StarFinder Aire which gets its name from its aerodynamic profile is designed for smaller vehicles such as two-wheelers and marine craft. The Aire is also one of the few water resistant (IP 67) tracking devices on the market.

The device features a high-sensitivity GPS Receiver that sends location coordinates through mobile data networks. Once equipped, the device is able to transmit its GPS coordinates via SMS, GPRS, or both. In SMS mode, the Aire sends the vehicles coordinates to a predefined mobile phone number. The user is then able to input these coordinates online, saving them on cellular data charges. In GPRS mode, the Aire sends location coordinates to Laipacs-own LocationNow website. The user can then log in to the website and track their vehicles location as it moves, in real-time.

The Aire also features multiple geofencing capability, which alerts the user when their vehicle is moved outside a predefined area, such as a driveway or parking lot. For covert applications, it can also send alerts when an individual drives the vehicle into a prohibited area.

The main advantage of the Aire is its high level of integration with the vehicle. It features 2 inputs, 2 outputs, and an optional analog input, allowing a whole array of capabilities in the event of a theft. For instance, the user can remotely disable the motorcycles starter using LocationNows web interface, so the thief cannot start the bike again. The Aire is energy-efficient and draws its power from the vehicles battery. The Aire has its own battery to maintain functionality when the vehicle is turned off.

The Aire is not just designed for vehicle tracking and recovery. It can also be used for monitoring driver behaviour. For instance, parents can monitor when and where their teen is driving their motorcycle or boat, and how fast they are travelling. The device also features an accelerometer to send alerts when the vehicle is involved in an accident. The Aire can also be used for Sailboat, Yacht, Waterjet or other marine vessel. If the device temporarily loses its GPRS signal, it is able to store thousands of location coordinates in its built-in memory. Then when it regains reception, it sends the stored coordinates to the user.

The StarFinder Aire will be available in select markets after the second quarter of 2012.

London, UK (PRWEB) March 12, 2012

SunGard has extended its Adaptiv suite of solutions to help customers not only calculate Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA) but also actively manage it. Adaptiv CVA Studio now helps traders hedge their CVA exposure, minimize their firms earnings volatility and understand the direct impact of CVA on their P&L.

Basel IIIs CVA mandate will require banks to hold more capital for counterparty credit risk. This is expected to reduce the return on equity and therefore have a direct impact on the profitability of the over-the-counter business lines within many organizations, from global banks to regional franchise banks. Adaptiv CVA Studio helps traders dynamically hedge CVA volatility by offering the ability to calculate and view sensitivities, manage and hedge credit risk on their books, and calculate P&L and P&L Predict.

Adaptiv CVA Studio includes a Monte Carlo calculation engine for measuring risk and a trading-style interface to display counterparty and hedge positions in a single view of P&L and key risk metrics. The solution can run over one million valuations per second per processor core, helping customers achieve greater accuracy in their valuations by avoiding approximation techniques. Adaptiv CVA Studio can accurately calculate multiple risk measures on a CVA book to help manage volatility, including CVA, Debt Valuation Adjustment (DVA) and Funding Valuation Adjustment (FVA), sensitivities, stress scenarios, P&L attribution and P&L predict. Accurate CVA calculations help banks improve their selection of counterparties by helping them more precisely assess counterparty risk.

Juerg Hunziker, president of SunGards Front Arena and Adaptiv business units, said, As the impact of Basel III on both profitability and earnings volatility is better understood, banks are establishing CVA functions to support compliance and improve how they manage P&L. Adaptiv CVA Studio can help by providing a complete view of CVA and transparency into credit risk using technology that can be quickly rolled out to traders and CVA managers across the organization.

London, UK (PRWEB UK) 8 March 2012

Sweatband.com, the UK sports & fitness equipment superstore, has increased its range of recumbent exercise bikes with the inclusion of the brand new Axos R model from the award-winning KETTLER. The newly-launched Axos R is the first recumbent exercise bike developed by KETTLER and one of 17 recumbent exercise bikes now available at Sweatband.com.

The KETTLER Axos R recumbent bike has been designed according to KETTLERs principals of innovation and pioneering technology. The KETTLER Axos Rs sitting position is secure, comfortable and cleverly positioned to ensure optimal workout benefits for all by targeting the leg muscles while supporting and stabilising the lower back. Additionally, its unique step-thru design has been devised to make it easy and safe for exercise participants to get on and off the recumbent exercise bike.

KETTLER have incorporated a weighty 9kg (20lbs) flywheel in the design, this ensures a smooth cycling experience while the choice of 16 resistance levels and 12 highly varied and motivating programs combine to offer on-going and effective workout challenges to people across the full spectrum of fitness levels and varying time constraints.

Sweatband.com CEO Maz Darvish says, This is a great recumbent bike at a very competitive price from a highly regarded home fitness brand. I would recommend the KETTLER Axos R to those keen to target the areas in the backs of their legs as it really accesses the glutes and hamstrings. Its also great for people who find their posture suffers after longer periods on an upright bike as the support you get for your torso means you can power through your legs and work them harder for longer.

The Axos R has a user-friendly console which monitors and reports all the essential workout data, such as speed, RPM, distance, time, calories and pulse rate.

The Axos R has a built-in wireless heart rate receiver which can be used with a chest strap (not included) or heart rate can be monitored using the bikes hand pulse sensors. Either feature can be used in combination with the Heart Rate Controlled programme which automatically adjusts the bikes resistance to maintain the target heart rate training zone of the participant.

Each participants progress can be monitored using the Axos Rs Recovery Feature, this provides a grading of your cardio wellness in terms of how quickly your heart rate recovers after working out.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) March 07, 2012

FIBERTOWN, a premier provider of high availability Houston data centers and business continuity offices, successfully installed another health care provider into its Texas data centers. Community Health Choice, a division of Harris County Hospital District, selected the FIBERTOWN colocation facility in Bryan to power and protect its disaster recovery systems.

High availability, security and disaster recovery are more important in health care today than ever, said Brandon Perryman, senior vice president for FIBERTOWN. We provide fully redundant, high-powered facilities to aid these organizations in improving health care delivery and optimizing processes.

The decision for colocation was based on regulatory requirements that demand back-up technology systems be located outside hurricane impact zones.

FIBERTOWN provides a superior data center solution that met our redundancy and budget requirements, said John Coakley, director of information systems for CHC. Our DR operations at FIBERTOWN allow us to maintain reliable back-up facilities and business continuity, while ensuring regulatory compliance.”

CHC surveyed multiple colocation providers in and around Houston, Dallas and Austin. The highest levels of redundancy and close driving distance, coupled with a robust telecom network and fiber proximity, made FIBERTOWN BRYAN the best choice data center.

The growing role of medical information systems focuses on implementing electronic medical records and ensuring security and compliance. Its likely many health care providers are evaluating data center initiatives as a response to the rapid growth of technology infrastructure, said Perryman.

CHC joins nearly a dozen other health care organizations that rely on FIBERTOWN to house DR operations and protect vital technology systems, including Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, Americas Blood Centers and U.S. Physical Therapy.

ABOUT FIBERTOWN
