This morning I had a lie in.

You know why I had a lie in?

Because a scheming 4yr old Zack snuck downstairs and figured out how to open the baby gate into the kitchen, and proceeded to gorge himself on biscuits.

There goes my insanity…

No more not having to worry about what he’s up to in the mornings. He can open the stairgate at the top of the stairs (no worries bout him falling at least – he’s competent enough with stairs), and now the tricky gate isn’t even an obstacle for him.

I am tempted to put a lock on the kitchen door, but then I’d need to lock the cat in there at night too as otherwise he’d have no access to his food/water or litter tray.

It’s time to accept that no where is sacred anymore.

That boy is getting too much like a boy and less like a pre-schooler I’m tellin ya!

Feck.

In other news, I was sitting playing with the boys today on the sofa, one on each side of me – tickling them both. MAN they loved it – cute lil giggles all over the place.

Cue them headbutting each other over me.

Laughing turned to silence.

I wondered for a sec if they would cry, or if it wasn’t so bad (it didn’t seem it?).

Then Max started crying.

Then Zack started crying.

Ah the joys of motherhood.

I stifled my laughter.

WHAT? It was funny seeing it happen ok??

Besides, they’re both absolutely fine and it gave me a blog post…

Not having to rush around to get ready to go anywhere. We can be lazy, snuggle up and watch movies together.

Being able to decide what to do on a whim, and not have any other appointments in the way to work around.

Having a wee drink or two and being “allowed” to have them.

Xfactor.

Lots of people to chat to seem to be about online at the weekends.

Spending time with my boys.

Cooking properly, cause I tend to not during the week.

Always a good movie on to watch in the evenings.

Just totally relaxing…

Well, as much as you can with two littlies around!

What do you like about the weekend?

The boys woke in the night AGAIN last night and wanted to start their day at 5.30. That was met by grunts and groans from me while I made Max up a bottle of milk to coax him back to sleep and informed Zack that if he didn’t go back to sleep then Santa wouldn’t want to bring him any presents.

When picking up Zack from nursery we came to a stop at the school gates to see a gorgeous white horse called Jacob standing there with one of the mums who’d just got him on loan. AND I FORGOT MY DAMN CAMERA. Max didn’t seem that amused but I was hard-pushed to get Zack away from him, mind you… I think that feeling was widespread – the lovely thing had lots of children going over to say hello and he was calm and serene through it all. A beautiful sight to see, and definitely *not* something we’d ever have seen while living in Dundee!

Tonight is Guy Fawkes Night, or Bonfire Night, depending on whatever you want to call it.

The fireworks display was just a little too late (and cold!) for my liking with the boys so when it started I hauled both of them out of their beds and snuggled down with them on my bed to watch them. Zack was “so so happy you woke me up mummy” and Max didn’t look away once. I think I did the right thing there, and you never know… maybe they’ll actually SLEEP tonight.

Hey, I can have my dreams, right? Oh wait… only if they let me sleep huh? Damn.

It’s Friday tomorrow already? SERIOUSLY? You know what that means? It’s six seven weeks tomorrow until Christmas. OMGALREADYIHAVELOTSTODOANDNOTENOUGHLISTSMADETOFIGUREOUTWHATTODO!

What did you get up to today?

I was just settled into my bed… dozing off… when a lil person came up to me complaining of sore knees. That was at about 00.30.
I took him downstairs and gave him some medicine, in the hopes that it would calm him down enough to go back to sleep, took him back up and tucked him into his bed.

Ten minutes later I heard a thud, followed by a giggle.

Zack had jumped out of his bed and woken Max, who finds his big brother particularly amusing in the middle of the night when they should both be sleeping.

I went back in, told off Zack and tucked him back in, did the same with (a very! wide! awake!) Max.

15 minutes later I heard more giggling.

And more.

AND MORE.

This went on till they finally went to sleep at around 3.30am.

Zack came in his usual chirpy self at 7.24 this morning.

I was NOT a happy mother.

Fast forward to getting-ready-for-nursery time and I left Zack playing with my iPhone on my bed while I changed Max to go out.

Went through to get Zack and he was out for the count.

Totally out for the count.

So I called up the nursery to tell them that he wouldn’t be in today.

30 minutes later he was wide! awake! and wanted my FULL attention.

Zack runs up to his room, shouting from the top of the stairs that he DOESN’T WANT TO BE MY FRIEND ANYMORE!

I lie down on the sofa.

In other news Max can now walk up and down the stairs holding the banister and my hand, so no more lifting him up and down. Yay!

*drumroll……..*

“NO!”

Whenever I do something that he doesn’t want me to… “nonononononooooooo”.

Typical that isn’t it?

Right now I don’t even care – it’s a word, being said IN CONTEXT.

YAY!

He’s also started doing lil things like taking my hand and walking me to the kitchen where he’ll go to the bowl cupboard and take one out, then over to the pantry where the Coco Pops live and looks up at me pleadingly.

He’ll bring over the remote, give it to me and look at the tv till I put something on.

And if he drops something and I tell him to pick him up, he’ll do it. Sometimes.

Ohh, and if I give him the phone he’ll take it to the charger in the hallway and put it back for me.

Now I just need to teach him how to pour me a vodka and orange juice and we’re sorted!

So yesterday was an interesting day.

I came into the living room to find a new masterpiece on our living room wall by Zack.

Then later (after cleaning it up) he asked if he could play a game on the Wii.

Fine by me I thought, a little peace while Max has his nap.

Only the disc wouldn’t go all the way in the drive.

I shook it around a little and nothing came out.

Zack piped up that he put a wall hook in it because he “thought it would feel safer in there”.

Cue me seeing and telling him to get to his room (before I exploded).

So, the Wii is bust.

“Santa” just sent us his (replacement) DS for his Christmas and now I’m wondering whether to give it to him at all, since he is in one of those phases.

On the other hand, I really just need to keep it somewhere he definitely can’t get it and make sure that it’s something he only plays with while I’m there to supervise.

Now I know this will make me out to be the Bad Mother, but I was hoping that he could play it during times when I needed a little peace. You know, showering, cooking his dinner, changing Max’s bum. But obviously that can’t happen.

So… do I keep the DS and see how it pans out over Christmas and if he’s been good enough to get it, send it back to the store, or keep if for a time when he is a little more mature and less likely to drop it in the toilet? (oh you didn’t hear about that? yeah, that’s what happened to his last DS).

In conclusion…

Healthy four year old male for adoption to good home.

Will supply clothing and his favourite toys.

Will pay well.

Yeah, I figured since I’ve been posting every day for almost a month now anyway I might as well make it “official”, so here I am doing the real National Blog Posting Month.

You know what that means? This is the third year that I’ve taken part in NaBlo, which means it’s 2 years ago that I started blogging!

I met some of my favourite bloggers through NaBlo, it’s such a great place to network and make new friends.

So… here I am again. Into my 2nd year of blogging… think I’ll still be here next year? I can hardly believe I’m still here now, and oh what a lot has happened in that time!

I don’t think I could ever just forget about the land of blogging, I have too much fun here, and have met so many wonderful people through it, how could I give that up?

Zack’s party at nursery was great, he had a wonderful time and has come back singing Hallowe’en songs bless him! Every time I tried to record them he went all shy… but oh my does he love to sing!

We were all ready with a bucket of candy incase we had any guisers tonight, but not a single knock at the door. Oh well, more for us, right?

We’ve had a pretty chilled out day today, partly cause mummy had a bit to drink last night *cough*. Hey, what’s a girl to do when she can’t go to the pub? That’s right – bring the pub to her!

So anyway, we had a chilled out day, and Zack chose a movie to watch… Bring It On. Yes, the cheerleading one. He’d never seen it before and thought it looked “super awesome!”. Who am I to say no to that? He loved it! Hey now, I’ve gotta enjoy the perks of the kids being young and watching whatever I happen to like while I can, right? Besides, it’s been Spongebob ALL weekend. Damn you Nick Toons for having a marathon weekend! *sigh*

Max and Zack have been playing together lots more recently. Running around with trucks and tickling each other, it is so sweet to see, and hear. Sure there’s lots of whining and crying in between, but it doesn’t last long, and within moments they’re back to playing with whatever they were to begin with.

Zack does seem to have that problem of wanting to play with whatever Max happens to be playing with. It can get quite tiresome at times, but we’re working on it. Besides, he’s four, and Max is two – they’re supposed to act the way they do at their ages. I think!

Tomorrow we’ll be baking cupcakes. Zack has wanted to do this for the past few weekends, but typically when we get round to the weekend to do it he does something that he knows he shouldn’t, so I’ve ended up having to ‘cancel’ the cake-making for the past two weekends.  Fingers crossed he doesn’t misbehave tomorrow. Hey, I can hope right?

Fingers crossed they sleep till past 6am tomorrow… PLEASE sleep longer tomorrow… PLEASE!!
