I have personally know Selina since 2000 and she is very talented. I have had the honor to have her as an instructor when I started my career, a friend and she even came to the bakery to work and help Jess out when I traveled!

ATTENTION CUSTOMERS

If you are trying to reach us at 469-322-4408 you will receive a disconnect message. We transfered our number November 1st. AT&T said it was not a problem. Only now we have no phone. They are unable to transfer our number because of our area is out of their disctrict. You may email me for now, until we can figure out something with AT&T. We will keep our number, it just might take a few weeks to find a location to have it connected.

Welcome 2010!!!
I hope everyone enjoyed the Holidays with family and friends. We had a great time in Savannah and an even better time with family in Missiouri. Now it's back to work!
We have some great brides this year!!!
Check back throughout this year to see the last of our designs and edible creations.
As you know - we are not taking any additional orders for 2010. Soooo....if you need to place an order - we HIGHLY recommend Sweet Expressions bakery as the place to go. Selina, the owner is delightful to work with and her work is flawless!

Lots of Changes

2009 is whizzing by so fast!

Thanksgiving was so cruel this year! (laughing)
I had lap band surgery the Monday prior Thanksgiving, November 23rd, and was only able to have liquids. So while I sip protein shakes at the table with my family scarfing down cornbread dressing, turkey and gravy and momma's creamy mashed potatoes, I had to listen to them rave about how delicious the food was and what I was missing. Oh, well my body will be Thanking me this summer!

With Christmas just around the corner, I have found myself lost some days with no direction. I am been sewing so much with this extra time on my hands. I've made a ton of aprons in an array of styles. So much has happened in such a short amount of time, with so many changes taking place instantly, I feel sluggish and blah. So today, I am working on new daily goals to keep me busy.

If you have missed me and didn't know, I'll give ya' the highlights! October 31st, I closed our retail store in Old Town Lewisville. I moved my wedding cake business to a co-op kitchen in Fort Worth, a nonstore front location that is budget friendly!

Then my husband accepted a promotion which requires a move! So after much reluctance, I put by bakery up for sale and it sold in 3 days! We closed on November 10th. I was so shocked, I didn't expect it to happen so soon.

So that means as of November 10th, I stoped taking new Bridal contracts for wedding cakes. I will only be making the currnet booked wedding cakes for 2010. All my brides that have already booked, paid their deposit and signed their contracts get me still! I am going out in "sweet" style with some stella upcoming wedding cake designs and all of my brides are adorable! This next year, being my last will be wonderful and in just weeks it will be here!

My last wedding will be September 29th, I know that will come quickly! Every year, time slips by faster than the last. I will miss Texas, all of my clients, friends and family. But I look forward to the new adventor that awaits me. I will be leaving in October 2010. I think I should have a packing party! So all of you can be a part of my journey, hehehe, okay not really, but who wants to pack alone. Can't blame me for trying.

WOW! I need a break. I'm tired, just thinking about it all, again.

So, with all of that I'm in Savannah for vacation and I am going to enjoy the Christmas and New Years with my family for a nice change. I will be returning on January 5, 2010 to gear up for my final year in the Wedding industry. (and I will have a ton of photos to share!)

Then I'm retiring! LOL!!! We are going work on increasing our family size! : ) And taking time to enjoy life...a little traveling sounds good too! (Maybe somewhere sunny, I need to work on my tan).

I will miss the Sugar Life I had, but not the 80 hour work weeks that went with it. SO kick back, put your feet up and enjoy a break from a crazy week. I know I will!

About LEF
MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission is to enrich the quality of public education in the thirteen communities served by the Lewisville Independent School District by being a vehicle for securing private funding benefiting LISD teachers and students.

HISTORY
The Lewisville Education Foundation, founded in 1990, is a public, non-profit corporation with 501(c)(3) tax status. It is governed by a 22 member Board of Trustees, who represent a cross-section of the community served by Lewisville Independent School District (LISD), but all voting members are independent of LISD. District administrators serve as ex-officio Board members.

PURPOSE
The Foundation was created to support excellence in education by establishing and distributing supplemental funds for enrichment purposes in designated program areas not otherwise funded by LISD. Funding does not replace or alter use of funds from traditional tax-base sources.

Three Great Weddings

We had some more amazing brides to work with! Here are a few photos of the cakes we made this past weekend.

Miller Wedding - Royal Affairs Ballroom in Old Town Lewisville

Stacy was wonderful to work with. She wanted something different and I really enjoyed working with her to create a one of a kind custom hexagonal wedding cake. I am calling it "Vintage Modern", it is three tiers of muliple shades of ivory and brown lines stacked on a fourth tier of dark chocolate swirls with a few pearls randomly placed. I loved making this cake! Thanks Stacy.

Vazequez Wedding - Addison, TX

Linda brought in a design she liked and then we changed up the tiers, to alternate square and round cakes, with fresh red roses between the tiers. Each tier had dark chocolate ribbon at the bottom and swiss dots, piped.

Linda had a firetruck grooms cake made too.

Allen Wedding - Hurst, TX

Nancy choose a design we had recently done - a three tiered square cake with romantic fresh rose petals and votie candles. Each tier with swiss dots, piped.

Open House a Hit

The Open House was such a great hit - we had over 200 customers between Friday and Saturday. Everyone loved our expansions and the new decor. Not to mention all of the delicious samples. We sold out of our Gluten Free Lemon bars, cheesecakes and brownies. It was a great way for us to connect with new customers and spread the word, while sharing our growth with our loyal oldies. I loved it and really enjoyed talking with everyone. If you didn't get a chance to come to the open house, you can come visit us in Old Town any time, we would love to have you. So my husband and Chef (while at home), Ray has jumped on the Blogging Ban wagon, the same one he made fun of me for jumping on...all beacuse he was inspired by a movie, Julie & Julia. I love it! Ray has always really enjoyed writing. When trying to create and find an available blog name - it took some effort. After breaking down my husband for who he is, a writer, chef and bitter human that likes to bitch about everything, because certain people and things make him angry and bitter; so it was only logical, the perfect title..."Bitter, Bored and Bitchin". I nailed it! And it was available - so now you can read all about his daily rants, exciting and creative recipes he makes and whatever else makes him tic. It should be funny and quite entertaining to say the least. So check out Bitter Bored and Bitchin and see what my other half is up to.

We had an Rockin' photo shoot at the bakery with Brandi of Brandi Thompson Photography. Brandi shot some fun photos of all the cake girls at Tracy's Cakes. We dressed up and wore some funny wedding ring sun glasses. We were able to let loose and enjoyed goofing off, which we do often. Brandi was great to work with, we really felt like she was just one of the girls we had known for years.

Race Shirt Design

Yea!! Our logo for our race shirts has arrived. Jill, designer and owner of Freshly Squeezed Designs has re-created our Tracy's Cakes logo, I loved it so much - she has been designing all sorts of things for us. Recently I told her our bakery "Tracy's Cakes" had a team participating in Relay for Life. I wanted to make really cool shirts for everyone - so Jill created an awesome running logo. Here it is...

Run On! 101 class

Last night was the first night for the April/May running classes at Run On! Coppell. This will be my second class, I've graduated to 101b. : ) Jess has joined me and will be taking her first class of the season. I am excited to see her blossom, and can't wait to see what a runner she is.

Look at that! A fine group of Cake girls (and my hubby) washing up. They are my sanitation queens (and king) even outside the bakery. They make me so proud. I wish others washed there hands as often as we do!
Short, but true story...
Something that disgusted me while eating out recently at a nice (really nice) restaurant. Seeing your waitress walk away from your table, then picking her butt while at the drink station getting your tables drinks and water.
(No thank you lady- you just convinced me to give up liquids at dinner for lent!)
