Every Christian is called to be Indiana Jones! We're on a great mission to rescue the valuable - in the case of a Christ-follower, that means spiritually lost people so valuable to God that He would die for them. Sometimes our mission is filled with obstacles, so we've got to know how to remove them so the people we love and care about can have a chance at Jesus.

In order for a child to successfully put together model cars, trucks, spaceships, and other creative objects, he needs the picture of the final product on the outside of the box so that he can know what it is supposed to look like when he is finished. When it comes to marketing and advertisements, take a quick look at these following excerpts from the article "How Not to Fail at Your Marketing Or, Whose Fault is It, Anyway?" by Michael Lovas:

"The average American is targeted by 3,000 messages per day. That includes phone calls, e-mail, meetings, conversations." - Data Smog by David Shenk

"The average American adult is exposed to over 600 advertising messages in a single 24-hour period." - Managing Business to Business Marketing Communications, De Bonis and Peterson

"Each of us sees more ads alone in one year than people of 50 years ago saw in an entire lifetime." - DMNews magazine, 12-22-97

And, advertisements are effective because they create consumer discontent. In other words, I didn't realize I needed "that" until I saw it advertised. Then I realized how much I would be missing out, on if I didn't have "that." Interestingly enough, the "marketing plan" for God's message of rescuing the world from sin took on a similar approach.

The plan? Spread the message through word of mouth from transformed, ordinary people to other ordinary people. Just think about it. If you are a believer today, it is because someone shared the message with you or found a way to get the message to you in written form.
