Provide rides to and from ESL classes for a disabled mom from Sudan. She lives close to the NCRC but does not have transportation. She attends class on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30 and Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-11:30. We need an adult to supervise our ski club storage closet each Monday, 7:15 – 8:00 a.m. beginning the Monday after Thanksgiving, and ending in late February or early March.

The Ski Storage volunteer would make sure ski club equipment is stored in an orderly and protective fashion. We would open the closet in the morning. Parent would provide direction to ski club members as to where and how to store their equipment. Perfect job for a parent who has a ski club participant and would be bringing a son or daughter with equipment on Monday mornings. For this position we would need a completed background check. Special Dog Assistance

Dog owner with physical disabilities would appreciate assistance with care of older dog. He needs to be turned over in bed at least once daily, until bed sores heal so he can start his physical therapy/pool sessions. My usual helpers are down with flu or now working 2 jobs. It would also be nice to have a platform dog bed built in the house to allow me to be included in his care. I cannot bend to perform lower level functions. High School Volunteer – Entrepreneurship

ARTech Charter School is looking for a person who can talk with high school aged students about the process of starting a business. The curriculum at ARTech emphasizes authentic, student initiated projects, and many students are interested in starting their own business. These students would greatly benefit from being able to talk to entrepreneurs about planning, organizing, and starting a business. Volunteers would be assisted by an ARTech teacher. The time commitment for the volunteer could vary, depending on how involved the volunteer wants to be. For instance, the volunteer could do a one hour presentation, could lead a multi-day workshop, or could mentor a student over an extended period.

Laura Baker Services hosts a monthly Art Workshop for its clients. This is a social event built on working with one’s hands — and open to all clients served by LBSA.

This month’s Art & Music Workshop will be held Saturday, September 19th from 3-4:30 p.m. at Laura Baker Services, 211 Oak Street, Northfield. This workshop is in need of 3-5 adult volunteers to assist clients in pursuing their art & music interests. Volunteers are asked to assist from 2:30-5 p.m.

Volunteers needed at Thursday’s Table

Thursday’s Table is a program of the Community Action Center of Northfield (CAC)that provides a free, hot meal to people in the community. Through the collaboration of the CAC, Northfield Senior Organization and SEMCAC, free meals are served every Thursday evening from 5:00-6:30 p.m. The meal is served in the Northfield Community Resource Center dining room, located down the hall from the Clothes Closet. Adult volunteers are needed to help set-up, serve food and beverages and clean up each week. Small groups (up to 10 people) are welcome to sign up to work together.
