Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson, The King of Pop passed away on June 25th 2009.
The whole world was shocked by this lost and made a tribute to this outstanding Artist.
In France, where I Iive, people were also upset. The French equivalent of CNN (BFM TV and i-Télé) changed their broadcast and made special edition for this breaking News the whole day.

Today, blog.4ucreate.com join them to make a tribute to Michael Jackson.
Like many people throughout the world, I couldn't believe it at the beginning. Afterwards, I felt a feeling of loss.

I had my first musical emotion when I was a child by watching his music videos.
Like many of you I was astonished by Thriller, Beat it or Bad.
Later, I realized his career began before, at 6 years old with the Jackson Five.

His music was part of our life for so many years ...
His talent, his videos, his moonwalk, his voice and his music made him a special artist and entertainer.
He died while he was preparing to make his comeback: a tour was to start in London soon.

There is no deny that music videos was a part of Michaël Jackson Myth. Always striking and eagerly awaited, they were often the work of great director (Landis, Scorcese, Spike Lee...).
Who was not scared of the Zombies of Thriller? Who was not carried away by the atmosphere of Billie Jean or noticed the technical performance (for this time) of the morphing of Black or White?

Thriller was the music video that build the Michaël Jackson's legend and spread it all over the world. He was already famous in US before and known by some people worldwide but after this video music the whole free world knew him.
Thriller was the first video music by a Black Artist broadcast by MTV (at that time, the network didn't broadcast Black entertainers).

A great dancer, the Moonwalk

Michael Jackson is linked to the "Moonwalk". This dance technique that presents the illusion that the dancer is stepping forward became his signature dance move and a symbol of his talent. He performed it for the first time during the 25th anniversary of Motown .
Michaël Jackson was a wonderful dancer. His innovative choreography played a major role to build his international fame.

His voice and music thrilled several generations.

He won the the audience of the White and Black America at a time when segregation was not yet an old memory.

During his career with the Jackson Five, Michael Jackson also released solo studio album since his 13.
The song "Ben" (1972) was his first number one at the billboard with a studio solo album.

History (1995) was a double album. The first one was a 15-track greatest hits album and the second one had 15 new songs : Scream, You are not alone or They don't care about us.
Two versions of They don't care about us were made: one in the favelas of Rio and the other in jail. The American networks didn't want to broadcast the second one before 9 PM, judging it too violent (it was not the case in Europe).

Blood on the dance floor, realized in 1997 is a remix album (there was only five new songs).

Invincible

Invincible, in 2001 can be seen as an evolution into R'n'B. It was sold at 11 millions worldwide: some journalist told of failure while it is impossible to repeat the thriller selling record at the time of disc crisis.
Madonna sold the same figure in 2000for Music and it was said to be a success. To compare: the latest released by Usher "Here I Stand" in 2008 sold 2 millions copies worldwide.

This chorus was a buzz in France during the presidential campaign. The parody song "Obamasqué" was a real viral video.
I translated the lyrics in English for you and subtitled the video.

To celebrate the Obama's Inauguration Day, I'm dealing a special issue on creation about Obama. I will write some other posts about the subject.

Au bal masqué, Obamasqué

Obamasqué is a parody song made with a song by la Compagnie Créole.
La Compagnie Créole is a band from the French West-Indies (Guadeloupe, Martinique) which had a great success in the 80's in continental France.
Their music is festive, full of joy.
The original song is "Au bal masqué" (In the masqued ball).
The French who made the parody change it into "Obamasqué" which is nearly the same pronunciation in French: a missing "l" is the only difference.
We can translate this pun by Obamasked.
The songs was created during the presidential campaign and describes Obama as a winner, a kind of Superhero.

Youtube let you watch plenty of good videos and sometimes when you watch a video on youtube and you really enjoy it, you may think it could have been a really nice video greeting card to wish a merry Christmas or an Happy New-Year?
Do you know, you can send personalized video greeting cards on Youtube?
I realized just a few people know it while it is very easy to do.

Need an account

I won't be too long as is it is really easy to make a video greeting card on youtube.
The only thing is that you need yo have a youtube account and to be logged in to create your video card.
If you don't have one, just create it, it is simple and not too long.

Go on www.youtube.com/greetings

Step 1: you pick a video to send
You can choose it in a selection, in your favorite videos or search one.
For a fully personalized video greeting card, you can record a video with your webcam.

Pick a theme (didn't work when i tried).

Step 2: compose your message and enter recipients (max 25).

To finish, send your greeting card.

Personalize an Obama poster

Obama-me is another Obama poster generator. You can customize a photo and make your own personalized poster with the Shepard Fairey's style.
As an example I used a Salma Hayek picture.
To my mind Obamicon.me generator is much better than this one: more customization options, and better quality.

You can try both but you will certainly prefer Obamicon.me.

Your Obama poster: easy to create but poor quality.

You have already understood that I don't really like Obama-me. To my mind, Obamincon-me is really much better.
Obama-me have poor customization options: you don't control the choice of colors at all and you can't customize the text (you can just choose between several slogan) contrary to obamicon.me.Moreover the final result is less pretty.
You can try it and tell me if you share my opinion or you disagree with me.
They made the choice of simplicity VS full customization.

Simplicity is indeed the major quality of this poster generator : it is really easy to use.
You just need to download your photo and you choose the slogan you want: HOPE, CHANGE, BELIEVE, PROGRESS, PURPOSE or WE CAN.
Confirm. Afterwards you can download your customized poster or email it to your friends.
