Back links are textual links from another site back to your site. Back links are important to your SEO effort. As your ranking rises partially due to your back links, you site gets more traffic.

How Do You Build Back Links

There are a number of ways to build your back links.

Here are some of the more common ones:

• Article Marketing
• URL Directories
• RSS Directories
• Mini-Networks (Squidoo, Hubpages)

If you communicate with the webmaster of another site in you niche, you can ask them for a link. This is a great way to get a link if done correctly.

Internal Links

Internal links are textual links between posts, pages or post and pages.  They help the reader find more information on the current topic.  For your search engine ranking, you should have one or two internal links on each page or post.

How do you make an internal link?

Pick the keyword or phrase you want to use.  Find the URL of the post or page you want to link to.  Now highlight the keyword(s) and click on the link icon.  Enter the URL and press insert.  Now you have an internal link.

Finally you should preview the post or page and click on the link to be sure it works.  Once it works publish your post or page and you are done.

RSS Directories

There are multiple RSS directories on the Internet. Similar to URL directories, they can get you a back link to your site.

So do a search for RSS directories and start to submit your RSS feed. The more people who subscribe to your RSS feed the more traffic is possible from the feed.

iTunes

iTunes is a great place to submit your audio or video RSS feed.

You will need a plugin or Feedburner so you can make all the appropriate settings to give you credit for the feed. Once you have that set up go to iTunes and submit it. They will review it and if accepted you will be notified. Usually only takes a few days for the decision

What is your Unique Value Proposition?

First understand that every business needs a unique value proposition. It is used to set the business apart from all of its competition. It's the why I should do business with you and no one else. If you are not unique then you are just like all the other businesses. Nothing special.

So do you have a unique value proposition or a unique selling proposition? Why should I buy your product(s) and why should I buy them from you and not someone else? How do you answer those questions?

Create your unique value proposition now.

You know your business and it's products. For each product ask what the primary benefit. What makes you stand out from all the other businesses in your niche? Is it customer service, guarantee, cost? What makes you different from all your competitors.

Can't find the difference or what makes you stand out? Ask your customers. Ask your employees.

So create your unique selling proposition today and add it to your marketing plan.

Website Directories

There are hundreds of website directories on the Internet. You can place your URL on these directories and get a back link. This is good for your ranking.

Some directories will not ask for money or a reciprocal link back to them from your site. But some do. Therefore you need to decide what your policy about paying for links and giving a reciprocal link back.

Check to see if they give back links before you add your site. Then decide how much a link from them is worth to you.

Back links from you to the directory will help the directories ranking but not yours. If they help your ranking then I maybe OK.

Types of Links

There are two basic types of links that are important to your business blogs rankings.

Internal Links

Internal links are textual links between posts and pages on your blog. These make it easier for the reader to find more information about the topic within your website.

External Links

External links can be divided into two basic categories. First there are those links from your site to other sites. These outgoing links direct your reader to other sites that you feel are important. These links can help the other sites ranking but not yours.

The other external links are back links. These are links from other sites back to your site. The most important back links are from sites with similar interests as your site. So if your are talking about cars and cat site back link is not very important from a ranking perspective.

Article marketing and press releases with links back to your site are an important way to get good back links.

Start your linking especial internally right away. You will need to update it frequently as your business blog grows.

What is Online Business And Why Should I Care?

An online business is any business that is located on the Internet and sells some product. Many off line businesses have learned the important lesson that being online is a great way to find more customers for a lot less investment than it took to start their off line business. As a matter of fact many found that by stopping some of the less effective off line marketing, they could afford to create an online business that have a much better return.

Today your business needs an Internet presence and needs to be found online. Yes it is a two part approach. And it does not replace your off line business. It is a adjunct to your off line business.

Online Presence

You need a website that people can learn all about your business and its product(s). Without this website no one will be able to determine why they should shop with you.

Your website will need to answer all three stages of the buying process. And with that information convert your readers into customers.

Found Online

You can have the best website in the world but if no one knows it's there, no customers and no business. The old saying "Build it and they will come" does not work on the Internet.

You need to use keywords and other SEO (search engine optimization) techniques to increase your search engine ranking so searchers can find you. Once you have been found it is up to your website content to keep the visitors there and coming back.

Putting your off line business online is a big decision. It will cost you money but probably less than you think. In any event it is one decision you need to make sooner before it is too late.
