Hi Tom, please tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Tomasz Rozkosz and I am a computer graphics artist. I own this site and all of its contents.

As you may have already seen, I work mostly with graphic designs for cars, that’s because I like them! .
But I can also make high quality 3D digital models for Cars, Bikes, Aircraft, Ships, Army vehicles, Architecture, etc… My work is not limited to models – I can do rendering, photo-editing and even simple animations.

What brought you to the 3D industry, and what did you start from?

I’v started from a 3DS DOS 3.0. First I’v tried it just for fun, after I’v lerned the basics I decided to publish some of the rendered images at online gallery. Soon after somebody saw one of my renders and offered me a job.

How many people are there in your team?

4-6 depending of my friends availability.

How long does it take you to create a high-polygon 3D model?

For experienced modeller one model at usual quality is around 40-50 hours of work. But, what most people dont understand, making a hi poly interior, isnt additional 20 hours, could be even more than 200 hours of work.

How do you tackle the problem of lacking detailed blueprints?

The real problems are only the rush and too low payments -) Only 1/20 of newly released cars does have the blueprints, so I’m used to work without them. When I’m not in a rush I always match the model to the real photos, I set the camera to the right angle and position, and it just got to fit. Ofcourse this took time and money so it’s not always possible.

Which rendering engine do you use?

Mentalray which is included to the 3dsmax.

Please tell us a little bit about the process of making a 3D model.

Hard to say in few words. I would say it’s nothing extraordinary, first simply rough poly modeling, cathing the main shape, then adding a meshsmoth , cutting rows and holes, then adding another meshsmoth and it’s over -)

What’s your secret of becoming a top seller?

I believe the percentage sale per each model isnt larger than other sellers, If I sell more than others, that’s only because I have more models.

What do you do in your spare time?

When making so many models do you think I have any spare time? -)

Working took me at least 10 hours almost every day, another 2 hours I got to spend for my son and another 2 for eating and washing. That’s whole day, everyday.

But if I found any time, I like all kind of motor sports, as well as a go-kart driver as rally watcher. I like oil painting, ASG shooting games, restoring old cars.

What are your plans for the future?

Stop working -) Or at least find out something to work less. I have a dream to work 8 hours a day and have all weekends free as well all holidays.

My name is Juan Carlos Jiménez. I was born in Madrid, Spain, 32 years ago. I’ve spent my entire life devoted to 3D, design, computer graphics and other kind of artistic expressions. In eartly 1992, I began using 3D Studio R2 for MS-DOS. So, I can fairly say that I have over 17 years of experience.

To stay in touch with tecnhology and to satisfy my passion for programming, I was graduated in 2004 as a Computer Engineer.

My professional career started out, ten years ago, as a visual effects producer with Next Limit. I spent about two years running RealFlow simulations for movies, commercials and TV. It was neccesary for me to come up with a major project, then I joined, for six months, Ilion Animation Studios as a Senior Simulation and Effects Artist.

With the goal of accumulating knowledge from other fields of the industry, I was employed in RandomControl doing some 3D virtual reality technology research, in Differend Games doing some games stuff and in LightHub, one of the most important architectural visualization companies in my country.

I finally spent two years working as a graphics supervisor in Producciones Mandarina, a TV production company, creating high-end graphics for some awarded TV shows and documentaries in most of the TV channels here in Spain (Telecinco, TVE, Cuatro, TV3 and 8TV).

In 2007 I ran my own company so I could work in product visualization and 3D modeling which is my real passion. If you are interested in hiring me for some freelance work, please take a look at the freelance section in the homepage.
